I was hoping that the negative reviews were not true. My daughter warned me that she and her fiancé tried it and it was disgusting. Last night, my son ventured out to get some ribs with cabbage, macaroni and cheese and cornbread. We live within walking distance and I was in a meeting so he went over there and made a purchase. When I got home, I decided to taste his leftovers. I was surprised that he had two ribs left since he usually leaves nothing. The ribs were hard and did not taste fresh. This place is not good. Let's start with the food being significantly overpriced for a carry out. Definitely wants to be a Buckhead version of This Is It. I was always hesitant to try because $28 oxtails need some kind of guarantee! Unfortunately, they were fatty and chewy with an odd flavor. The sides that are on the menu are not available on the actual line when you get there. The rib tips looks more like pulled meat. Lastly, the brisket that is advertised on website is not what I received it was more like a beef roast. The fried corn is done from frozen not fresh, the collards are very sweet. The only good item on the menu would be the fried pork chops, yams and Mac and cheese. Oh, and the only cobbler available is peach and for it to be the "namesake" it's definitely lacking. We're in the hospital up the street for a while, so a deal on food is always appreciated. I ordered through Uber Eats and picked it up to save on the outrageous "other fees" for delivery - we got the bogo shrimp dinner. Although we didn't get any cocktail or tartar sauce, the food was delicious - yet definitely spicy. They're actual prices aren't the same as in the app. The peach cobbler is in small containers - not worth the bogo price of $11.99 for 1 but 2 comes out to be cheaper than in-store price of $8.99. I decided to try this restaurant after hearing a commercial on the radio, plus it is on my area of town. I would give it a high rating since the food is good, but cannot because of the staff and how chaotic they were behind the counter. It took way too long to order and pay considering there was 4 employees back there plus they are putting it in the to go container in front of me. It seemed like several did not know what they were doing and/or only did certain things. They were nice but the chaos behind the counter caused what should of been a 5 minute stop for takeout to last over 10 minutes! Also, a random man went back there in street clothes and lots of jewelry with no gloves. He just stood there for while but still! The food is good, but pricing for individual sides and desserts are a bit high. The overall food cost was acceptable, but $6 for what they say is an 8oz individual side is too much. Especially when the side was not even near full. I also think the cobbler is good, but not $9 good. I'll think about giving this place another try when they work out the kinks. 3 stars why it's Black Owned and I like to support local business. Was looking for soul food on last day in Atlanta. Stood in line over a hour , finally makes it in door. And it was huge menu on the wall lite up with options. But people continued to reach plexiglass undecided. That made the wait even longer . Several people were preparing plates , but it still took forever. I ordered 1 fried pork chop collard greens and dressing . Pork was good , but greens tasted bland no pork or turkey flavor and dressing basic and dry .I ordered peach cobbler but tossed it in trash not sure how it tasted , but it wasn't appealing it looked wet. Ordered 2 turkey wing dinners with black eye peas on both, collards & cabbage for each last night. Got home 6 minutes later ready to sit in but The food had absolutely NO SEASONING! WTH?! I had no idea this place existed until an invitation from a friend. At first, I was skeptical after reading some reviews online about food and services. Curious because of the name, I went with it anyway. I went on a Wednesday around 6:30 and there wasn't too many people inside. The set up is that food is already prepped and the staff fix the plate from behind the counter. Not too bad since everyone was masked up with gloves. I will say that they could work on their customer service a little bit. They have their prices on a huge poster wall as you walk in which was good for me to see how expensive they are. Honestly, if I was paying the tab, I probably would have opted for a different location. Prices are high not to have dine in options. We ordered ribs and turkey wing dinners which comes with 2 sides. We also ordered some of the cobbler. We wanted strawberry but they were out. We opted for the blackberry instead. After placing your order, you pay at the counter. Our meals came to $60. Again, that's super expensive for this type of set up. They were redeemed once I tasted the food. Hands down, this was some of the best southern food I've tasted in a while. Everything was seasoned well without overpowering the food itself. I particularly enjoyed the mac and cheese and collard greens. They also give large portion sizes so that made up for the price as well. I loved the cobbler. They give you a good amount which is great considering it's almost $9. We were in town and needed a bite to eat but my ol' lady didn't wanna leave the hotel. Peach cobbler was the topic of discussion so we found this place nearby on Doordash.. the reviews were pretty bad but we were only concerned with quality.. slightly costly mistake lol We got the peach cobbler that we aimed for which was delicious and would recommend to anybody. We also got brisket, catfish, greens, mac n cheese and yams.. the mac and cheese was everything I expected from the south as my gf ate it all and we waited a few hours to actually eat the rest of the food. Although cold, the catfish was beyond impressive and the greens hit the spot too. Yams were pretty mushy but thats expected from being left out. My only gripe is the same thing everybody else had with my order missing some items. Was a bit let down that we didn't get our sodas or garlic bread but doordash fixed that issue so I wont take away from them. Our first visit was epic! Make sure to call in your order for the catfish! It does take a while-- but it is worth waiting for! The seasoning and batter for both the catfish and wings are something special!! The greens were a bit sweet for my liking but the potato salad, cabbage were both a hit. The Fayetteville location is new and I wanted to support the new business in the area. The food smells so good when you walk in. There was plenty of staff and no customer service issue. Unfortunately, the smell of the food did not result in a good taste- especially for the price I paid. The fish was chewy/rubbery and had no flavor whatsoever. This is more of a 3.5 star visit. My husband and I came here on a Monday around lunch since we got hungry after walking on the beltline. I was able to place my order and get everything in 5 mins. But as soon as I started eating outside, the line started getting long. I ordered the large rib tips with Mac and cheese and yams. It's definitely on the pricier side of soul food options in Atlanta but it hit the spot. The Mac and cheese was a good texture and the noodles weren't soggy. I also liked the candied yams. The total was $28 and some change. The bag the food came in is reusable for taking the food back for a full refund. Oh and thanks for the enormous amount of feathers on the wings. The Wings look as if they'd take flight back to the Fayetteville location at any moment. After tasting the Peach Cobbler, I'm scratching my head wondering why the name of the restaurant is called the same. Why? Done with them. Called in the middle of the week to purchase 2 whole sweet potato pies. Was told they don't take orders over the phone, to just come in and he was 100% sure they would not run out of pies. You know how the rest of the story goes: Drove down there, stood in line for over 30 minutes to be told they don't have any pies. The gentleman was nice - I give him that.
