Horrible, absolutely Horrible! Rude, bitchy cocktail waitress and completely out of touch, apathetic manager. Ordered a Manhattan and server "Brianna" asked if I wanted it on the rocks. I said no, I want it served traditionally in a cocktail glass. She said "I know, but do you want it on the rocks"? (In a cocktail glass???) Apparently she thinks a cocktail glass is any glass you serve a cocktail in. I told her a cocktail glass is often mis referred to as a "martini glass". She starts arguing with me, informing me that she knows how to serve cocktails and she has been doing it for 18 years. She won't let this go. She escalates the situation, raises her voice and then accuses me of becoming irate. I'm entertaining clients so this is becoming quite embarrassing for me. When she returns, she ask everyone at the table if they would like another drink except me. When she brings the check, she brings up the matter about the glass again. I just want to pay my bill and get the hell out of there, never to return. In my haste, I left my coat on the chair. I returned 2 minutes later to retrieve my coat and... it's gone. I track down Brianna and she rudely informs me she took it to lost and found. I'm concerned because my cell phone and keys are in the pocket. She then just leaves. No further explanation. So I follow her through a back hallway where I'm stopped by another not so friendly employee. She confronts me about being in the hallway. I told her about my coat. She doesn't care and tells me to leave. I ignore her and continue on to retrieve my coat. Some other rude 20 something approaches me with my coat. When I reach out to take it, she pulls it back real quick. Almost like she was saying "sike" , but this was not done in a playful manner. A low energy manager sees this and approaches me. I asked if she saw what just happened. She said "No, I turned my head and did not see anything". I find that odd, then what prompted her to approach me if she didn't see anything? Clearly, sargent Schultz was protecting her rogue employee. I gave her a brief review of the evening. She listened, but didn't care. It was like talking to a zombie. This place is a dump. All of our glasses were dirty, they don't provide cocktail napkins when you order a drink and rude, condescending staff. My advise, stay away unless you're a masochist. read more

Had comp'd drinks for our room not being ready. We chose drinks off of the house cocktail menu. While one may suppose the bartenders would be particularly skilled with these, the best of our drinks was "ok," described by its consumer as small and underwhelming. The middle drink was palatable but forgettable, and the scotch old fashioned was virtually undrinkable. The only redeeming feature was that they were free. Cheep, bad vibe, terrible drinks. Walking in to the bar it was fairly crowded so we chose a table that had a few dishes left from the previous people. When a waitress came over my husband apologize for sitting there before they could buss it and then made a joke about how we just really need a drink. The waitress looked at him made a face and walked away. Not one word. I ordered a vodka martini with blue cheese olives and my husband ordered one with a twist. They both came out without garnishes. We had to order them separate. Our soup and salad took a total of 1:20 minutes to make. Food was ok - but maybe because by that time we were very hungry. The only ok thing is that our main waitress was kind of nice. But I will never go back and I really hope this place gets a new manager. Not only is the Peacock Room a good place for a martini! Come to find out it is also a good place for lunch or a bite to eat. I decided to try it out for lunch because it is a little pricey and prices are lower at lunch time. They had a couple of sandwiches I was interested in trying that are only on the lunch menu. I had the Crab Sandwich which is a crab salad on an English muffin, topped with a tomato slices and Gruyere cheese. Delicious! I also tried some of my friends turkey sandwich which had roasted turkey topped with balsamic glazed onions and pesto sauce. Equally as delicious! Both were served with side salad with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette and bread with herb butter for spreading. The servers and bartenders at the Peacock Room are also fast and friendly. This is the first bar I ever went. I was underwhelmed. It was pretty generic when you take away the peacock-themed decor, and the menu was equally bland. They made a pretty tasty cranberry tonic but the cocktail waitress questioned my order, because apparently it's unheard of to order anything virgin in a bar? The food menu was really generic and overpriced too. Granted, it's a nice place, but it was filled with 'sloppy drunks' as my friend put it and it was only 10 pm. My mom didn't like their Baileys & coffee. I might go back if I am downtown with time to kill but I think I'd probably pick somewhere a little more unique over the Peacock, given the choice. read more

We had dinner and Hannah was our server. She recommended several different items on the menu, one of which we ordered. The Prime Rib French Dip. We both ordered our selections rare. When our meals arrived they were exactly as we ordered. She was attentive enough without giving you the feeling as if she was hovering. We enjoyed the beautiful lounge with its namesake stained glass ceiling. If I had to recommend anything, it would be to ditch the neon around the bar. I might have been born in the wrong era. The Peacock Room located in the historic and ultra chic Davenport hotel (Eastern Washington's only 5 star hotel) Yes, lunch is great and so is after work drinks. But the Peacock Room is my favorite place for a night cap. I'm a sucker for live music and often there's jazz , blues or a acoustic singer/songwriter performing. It feels like an authentic rat pack hangout. For some reason the cashews they bring to the table are especially tasty. The late night menu is very good. Try the cougar gold cheese and fruit plate. Also they make a mean bloody mary that's nice and spicy. read more

We were looking for late night food on a Sunday night and ended up here. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup is good; they use baguette bread for the sandwich. Others in my party ordered the French onion soup which looked awesome- big bowl and cheesy on top. Another person ordered the Cesar salad which was drowned in dressing and she had to send it back. Service was great though and the waiter comped a dessert. We shared the lava cake which was a yummy, chocolatey-goey in the center with fresh raspberries on top. She got my tab and rather than apologizing the only reply I got from her was a bitchy, sarcastic "You are welcome!" We came here recently for our annual family night out. Our intention was to have some drinks and appetizers. We were a large group, approximately 20 people, and we knew it would be difficult to find a table large enough to host us. However, a corner area served us well. Originally, this was going to be a one star review, based on the experience explained below with a rude employee. While we felt the drinks were a bit watered-down and a bit overpriced, our server, Hannah, did an excellent job and tended to us as best as she could. Service was slow, but that is because things picked up and I believe they were understaffed. Regardless, she was kind, informative, and did not make any mistakes. That is why I upped it to a two star review. The main reason this rating is low is because of another staff member who was working both behind the bar and throughout the room. I do not know his name, but he had a crewcut hair style that was kind of a sandy/dirty blonde color. Anyhow, there were two occasions where we interacted with him, and he was very short and abrupt and rude. I understand each business has a right to a few policies, but if you have a large group who is understanding, there is no reason to explain the policies in a rude manner. We were moving some chairs and tables to better fit our large group, and that's fine if they don't want us doing that, but he did not have to be rude about it. It almost made us leave. Later in the evening, some of us went to the bar to order some drinks with cash, and the same gentleman abruptly told us that we have to order through our server. Again, that's fine, but when you come across antagonistic about it, it sets a tone of negativity. Soon after, we left because even though our server, Hannah, did a great job, we did not feel like spending the rest of the evening giving money to a place that allows such behavior from an employee. Perhaps he was having an off night or something that was causing him to be frustrated, but unfortunately, there are many choices downtown, and if we are going to go somewhere and pour our money, we would like to at least get polite service across the board. The drinks are $10 but they are worth it. Each one is like a festival in a glass. The peacocks (on the wall, in the ceiling, and as taxidermy) were a bit overwhelming but you hardly notice since the drinks are so good. The crowd was pretty diverse, tourists, frat boys, guys and gals on a date, us (girls night out) etc. Next time I'll come and try the food. Beautiful setting, awful service. The bartenders and waitresses here seem to have no supervision. They spend their time talking to each other rather than dealing with customers. The prices are too high, and the food too average for that to be cool at all. It really is amazing how indifferent they are to service, Walt Worthy has way too much invested to let this keep up. Spokane is a small town and word travels fast. The Safari Room at the Towers across the street is run twice as well. read more

The bartender was clueless and the food was mediocre. My friend specifically asked for a recommendation that was "not sweet" and ended up with a drink that tasted like liquid candy! I do not like strong drinks, and ended up with one that made my mouth burn. We ordered two appetizers, and neither were particularly outstanding. I've genuinely had better bread at a fast food joint before! I was also disappointed to see the staff wearing hoodies and t-shirts. Why have a beautiful glass ceiling if your staff looks like they belong at home on the couch? All three of the employees I spoke to that night had subpar social skills, as well. They couldn't explain the taste of any menu items, which was annoying. Overall, a disappointing but expensive visit. read more

Very much enjoyed an evening at the Peacock Room. We kinda went all out, just felt like it. Drinks, hummus, salads, wine, salmon and mahi mahi dinners, and a shared dessert. We have enjoyed this place before. We are staying in a suite at the hotel. Went dowm for drinks and appitizers to the peacok louge. Our server curtly dropped pur drinks off ...never to return. We were never able to order food. We sat and sat with empty drink glasses in front of us. She never brought water we asked for. Never brought the check. I had to walk up to the bar to ask for it. She saw me go up and brought yhe check. We asked to speak to the manager and his response was...im only the night manager. No aplogey. Poor poor service. Very sad since we enjoy the hotel and always come for the tree of elegance. I would like to add i wrote tbis review on another page and yhe davenport asked that i send them my email. I did and my room number as we wete here for 3 days. They said they would reach out but never did. Obviously thay dont care. Sad. I've been to the Peacock Room a zillion times over the years and have seen a steady increase in prices yet noticeable decline in quality. On a recent trip to Spokane I stopped in with my mom. I had a double whiskey Coke. Their well whiskey was Jack Daniels and my drink was $14 or $15...for Jack and Coke. They used to set a small bowl of cashews on the table for you once you arrived. No longer. We ordered the Cougar Gold Cheese Dip which I've always loved. It was as good as I remember (how can a ramekin of gooey cheese be bad?) but used to come with a picholine and nicoise olives, peperoncini and pickled cherry peppers. They did away with the olives long ago and this time I noticed the cherry peppers were gone, too. Just three lonely peproncinis. I had a burger which I've had there before. It was the same as I remember with a much heftier price tag...$15.50. For a basic burger and fries. For $15.50 I'd love to see hand cut fries at the very least. How hard is it to cut some potatoes and fry 'em? They use frozen skinny fries. My mom had the French Dip and she liked it. It was so-so. I hate complaining about the Davenport Hotel because I'm so happy that it was restored. It was such a shame to see it sitting vacant for most of my life. Walt Worthy did an amazing job having the hotel restored, particularly the lobby which is not to be missed. The Peacock Room has a lovely stained glass ceiling but the carpet, seating and music feel very dated...and not in a good way. read more

The peacock room is the quintessential grand hotel lounge from its era. The room is steeped in class and history, and the service/food/drinks are no detractor from the experience. Always top-notch. It isn't cheap to dine here, but you get what you pay for in this instance. For me, its a knob creek mint julep, the french onion soup, and the house specialty crab louie. 'nuff said. read more

I visited Spokane from Alaska and came here with my brother and friends who recommend this place after having a great experience in the past. 5 of us found 2 empty tables and attempted to move them together so we could all sit together. Mind, the booths that would have fit all 5 of us had not been bussed. A waitress asked us to hold off for liability purposes in a harsh tone and suggested that we sit at a different table across the restaurant. We felt immediately that we were being discriminated for our age (mid twenties), and that she didn't want us in her section. We sat and were given a different waitress who was very kind; however, we waited almost 30 minutes to receive our beverages-our food came 5 minutes after drinks so the timing was very off. My brother needed more ice in his drink and went up to the bar and was ignored for a few minutes, and the male bar tender was not kind to him. We then asked to talk to the manager to tell her our experience and she thanked us and said she appreciated our feedback and that was that. We then waited awhile for our check. The food was great, but I felt we were not treated fairly based on the sole fact of being young. So I guess if you're older and look rich, you'll be treated better. Will not come back or recommend this place to a younger generation because you won't be treated equally. read more
