Cute little place! If you want indoor seating, make a reservation or wait may take a few hours. Outdoor seating is usually first come first serve. Food was excellent and pricing was reasonable for the portion. Will come back again!

Handkerchief Pasta, Hanger Steak, Spaghetti with Clams

Went during dinner rush hour and service was good and accommodating. With a party of four, we ordered the Handkerchief Pasta ($27), Hanger Steak $34, Spaghetti with Clams ($?). All dishes were great, I think the pricing of pasta may be a tad bit pricey but they're big portions.. so I can't complain too much.. Personally, I would order one pasta dish and share with the table rather than have your own. It's a crazy carb load unless you're an athlete then by all means go for it! The best dish would be the Hanger Steak, great flavor and seasoning.. top notch for sure. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors and the waiter was kind enough to turn on the heater for us. Service is again was good, expect it to be slow during a busy night.

Me and my husband had a great dining experience. The oysters were very fresh and naturally sweet, and beautifully presented. The scallops were generously sized and perfectly cooked, nicely seared on the outside while tender inside. The salad was light and refreshing, and the pistachio tiramisu was absolutely amazing!!! My husband and I both loved it. It's the kind of dessert that makes you go "wow, this is so good" after the first bite. The mussels themselves were flavorful, but the bread served with them was a bit over toasted, almost burnt. The ambiance was warm and cozy, and the service was great. We would definitely come back.

I had a killer dinner here, but it's the kind of thing that has to be rare, based on cost. It was Valentine's Night, and The Wife was out of town. I was in the city nearby and searched for neighborhood restaurants, when I saw Pearl. It was just 5 o'clock, and I thought maybe I could sit at the bar. I was correct, but I had to wait for a space to open. No problem, they had little tables set up outside for those of us waiting, who ordered cocktails. I got a pearl martini, which was decent, but a little sweet. It was my first martini with an onion, and will be my last. I got a standard martini next, which was very good. They called my name, and I sat at the far left end of the bar, with a view into the kitchen, and where all the drinks came out. Plenty of fast but controlled activity to watch. I ordered the crudo for an appetizer, and the scallops for the entree. Absolutely fantastic. The scallops had white beans and some kind of small crunchy flakes, and it was not only a great variety of flavors, but textures as well. I got a side of bread, to mop up all the liquid left over -could t get enough of that taste. Along with this I had a glass of sangiovese, and then a glass of grillo. The bartender (Kim, I think?) had a very nice way of bantering while dealing with the high volume of drinks being ordered. Finally, intended with a Valentine's cheesecake and coffee. A great meal, but I'm not in a position to do this except maybe twice a year for special occasions.

Every dish we ordered was fantastic! You really can't go wrong with any of the pastas, my favorite was the bucatini. From the snack menu we ordered oysters and the bread, from the starters we ordered the Cesar salad, crudo and broccolini. For dessert we tried the olive oil cake and the chocolate torte. Cocktails were great and the staff was so pleasant, they even brought our dessert out with a candle since we were celebrating a birthday. Would definitely come back for an intimate date night!

I have passed by this place so many times and it is always busy! So excited that I finally got to check it out for my friend's bday. They were able to accommodate his nut allergy easily. Everything we ordered was amazing! I'm also excited when a place serves oysters with horseradish- it was balanced really nicely with other flavors. You cannot go wrong with their crudo and I devoured their seafood bucatini! The seared scallops were also a hit. I recommend ending the night with their chocolate banana pudding! Definitely a great spot for a special occasion or date night!

Pearl is a real gem in Richmond. I'm often in the Richmond district and pass Pearl many times. I'd always been curious, considering it's always bustling inside and outside. So, the companion suggested we dine here. We arrived in the early evening. It's a popular spot, so reservations are a must. We sat inside, which was cozy, with dim lights, a warm ambiance, and a lovely neighborhood charm. Lots of friends gathering, but also couples. It can get loud inside, but it's still very quaint. We found the service to be lovely! Our server was so kind, friendly, and had a great vibe. Our food came out extremely fast, and we were checked on throughout our meal. To start, we shared the Chips and Dip. The dip was super creamy, with a rich, savory flavor from the clams. The chips were on the thinner side but not as crispy as I'd like. I found a couple of them a bit soggy. Both my companion and I got pasta; he had the Handkerchief, and I had the Bucatini. I had a bite of his, and it was creamy and tasty! I enjoyed my pasta; it was well-cooked, flavorful with a touch of spice, and a significant portion! We both took ours to go. For those living in Richmond, Pearl is a quintessential watering hole for good food and a good place to gather. Companion and I agreed to come back. Find them on the corner of California Street with residential parking around!

Phenomenal dinner at pearl. Everything we ate was delicious and meticulously crafted. From the scallops with couscous to the beef tartare to the pastas, everything was fresh and unique. Love that they do a rotating menu but will miss the scallops and couscous sm. Our waiter was charismatic and fun and not afraid to give honest opinions about how to pair the dishes. The outdoor seating could use a little pizazz as it pales in comparison to the interior of the restaurant.

We were party of four for dinner at 5pm Tuesday night. I'd read parking would be challenging; however I got a space up the block. The doors opened exactly at 5pm. We were led to a nice table in the back. One friend and I each had a glass of house rose from Italy. Nice and dry. After studying the menu we ordered and shared - * Chips and clam dip. And they were potato chips. I thought the dip somewhat heavy for the chips. Made do. * roasted cauliflower- sat on a bed of black sesame tahini. We enjoyed. * handkerchief pasta. The name alone made us try this. Pasta was very pillowy * mushroom pasta. This was very hearty. * grilled steak. Ordered medium rare. Excellent. * pork belly - also excellent. Crunchy skin. Four slices. The restaurant was very dark. A candle was on our table. As seniors we couldn't make out each dish without using our flashlight from our smartphones. Service was attentive and plates replaced. The noise level increased as the restaurant became more crowded. The four of us were very pleased with our holiday meal. We left very content.

First time here! Pearl will be my new go-to special occasion spot. Had such a cozy and intimate ambiance. Perfect spot for a date night. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was AMAZING. * Beef Tartare: 6/10 wish there was more of the toum underneath to complement the amount of beef tartare. This dish was pretty filling. * Brussel Sprouts: 8/10 the tahini sauce paired nicely with the Brussel sprouts * Bavette Steak: 10/10 it was sooo buttery and practically melted in my mouth. * Seared Scallops: 10/10 there was a sauce or marinade on it that was citrusy and just bursting with flavor. Overall, I highly recommend ordering the Bavette Steak and Seared Scallops. The flavors of these dishes were savory and had a nice zest. For drinks, I recommend the Pearl Martini and Tidy Tips. Pricing is fair for the portions. I'd say sharing 2 starters and 2 entrees is perfect for 2 people. Pearl is always very busy so I suggest making a reservation ahead of time.

    Pork chop and handkerchief pasta

What a gem of a place! The soft ambient lights along the building grabbed our attention while in the neighborhood looking for a dinner spot, so glad we stumbled upon it. Greeted by the friendliest staff who were all so nice and smiley and attentive, had to wait half an hour for a table without a reservation but we were able to sit outside and order a drink while we waited and it was a nice night to sit outside and not too long a wait. Got seated inside at a cosy table before we had finished our drinks, and very helpful waiters as we asked questions on what they recommended we try. A good selective menu- we got the acme bread (which came warm!) And the handkerchief pasta and pork chop- which the waiter had all recommended. Didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive- all delicious and nicely plated, the pasta had plenty of flavor and a nice sauce/cheese texture with the little pieces of meat mixed through, and homemade pasta! Pork chop cooked to perfection with a little zesty/citrus flavor to it which tickled our taste buds! Good portion sizes. Nice cocktails too, can take off menu requests for drinks if available (I got a cosmo which was lovely) Such an enjoyable dinner and evening, great vibes and ambiance, great staff, great food, great neighborhood

Beautiful ambiance, definitely a great date night or friends catch up spot! I came with a friend and tried a couple dishes to share: - Acme bread and butter (5/5): just so satisfying and warm. hits the spot - Crudo (5/5): pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this! - Chicory caesar salad (4/5): obviously bitter, but good portion size and good croutons - Steak (4/5): sauces on this were crazy!! only qualm was the cut of meat - it was a bit chewier - handkerchief pasta (4/5): just okay, didn't stand out It was super busy, so would definitely make a reservation if you can. If you just want a drink there are lots of small outdoor chairs.

Presidio, San Francisco Cozy neighborhood restaurant with great food, good service and a comfortable unpretentious vibe. One of the really great restaurants in the Presidio Neighbourhood of San Francisco. We were staying at a nearby bed-and-breakfast and we were able to walk to this restaurant. Making reservations is a must because this place is very popular. What can I say but that I will be visiting this restaurant again the next time I'm in San Francisco. It's on my short list of places that are stellar, without the stellar price tag. The food? It's California Mediterranean. I love pork chops so of course I had to have it. Thick slice fat and juicy along with two really good pastas. Instead of ordering individual entrées for our party of four, we decided to go family style and share everything. This is the way to go so you can have a little bit of everything. Absolutely loved the homemade sorbet and the chocolate pudding. Remember chocolate pudding used to be one of the only things on Hawaii menus when I was a child along with Jell-O! lol. But this is elevated chocolate pudding served with bananas and fresh cream. Yum Yum Yum.

Do you have a wine list? What type of wine would you recommend for certain dishes?

Yes they have an extensive wine list. Recommendations can come from the server because it depends on the food ordered...

Is there a charge for cutting an outside cake for a birthday? Or does Pearl have a candle option for house desserts?

Yes, $5 for each slice. And always a candle for any special occasion on dessert when you order it.

Is there no more Sunday brunch?

    No, I wish.

What is the dress code of the place? Would I be turned away if I showed up in jeans?

Can be casual. But it's def a mix which I like.

How is the outdoor seating on a January night? Most evenings recently have been 49 - 53 degrees. Is it too chilly to enjoy dinner in this outdoor space even with coats?

Pearl does a fantastic job with heating. There are plumbed in heaters above the tables against the building and sufficient heaters throughout the outdoor seating. Typically I have to remove my coat, even when it's cool outside.

How much is the corkage fee? Don't see any California wines on Your wine list. Not fond of Italian wines. Since we are in California I would think you would have a few, especially chards and cabs.

Are dogs allowed in your restaurant? I was there for brunch last Sunday and a woman sitting at the counter had a dog on her lap. Thought that was kind of odd.

All service and companion dogs are allowed into any restaurant with proper identification and certifcation.

    Are there gluten free options?

    Yes

    Are there any vegan options?

Yes. The menu may change seasonally, but when I visited I was able to have gnochi entree (sauce may be vegan tomato or mushroom cream - so ck when you make a reservation), cauliflower dish, salad, and dessert.

I started with the pesto gnocchi, which is usually one of my favorite pasta dishes. However, this version lacked flavor and tasted quite bland. I found myself adding extra cheese and salt just to bring out more taste. Even after that, we only ended up eating about 25% of the dish. For me, this one was a 3/10. We also ordered the Mezzemaniche Boscaiola in pink sauce, which was definitely the stronger of the two dishes. The sauce itself was flavorful, and I appreciated the variety of ingredients, including the onions, peas, sausage, and mushrooms. In fact, I found myself enjoying the vegetables more than the pasta itself. My main issue was that the sausage flavor seemed to overpower the sauce and gave it an off taste. It reminded me of the flavor you get when freshly grilled meat is mixed directly into a sauce--it dominated the dish more than I would have liked. I'd rate this one around a 6/10. That said, there were some positives. The pasta was cooked very well--both the rigatoni and gnocchi had great texture and weren't overcooked or too firm. The food was also still hot when we got it, and the sauces held up impressively during transport. Nothing separated or became oily, which is something that can easily happen with takeout pasta. While I can appreciate the quality of the preparation and packaging, the flavors just weren't a match for my taste. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning, but I wish the restaurant continued success

The Spring Pea Triangoli was good but the butter like sauce that's on the plate doesn't do much to complement the dish. The restaurant is very modern. They also have 2 restrooms.

If you love plants you'll adore Arcana in San Francisco because it's a beautiful sanctuary of…read moreplants and cool vibes. Located in the legendary Mission District of San Francisco, this wine bar is a great spot to catch up with friends and enjoy small bites and yummy crafted cocktails. Their decor is very chic and I especially loved all of the hardware, glasses, tables, and benches. This place was styled by a great design artist. Even though the place was pretty packed and can be kind of noisy, I still felt very calm amongst all the healthy plants and loved the sophisticated 70s inspired glassware. Another great feature of this place is that you can buy most of the plants because they have some for sale so after a couple of cocktails, I was ready to redecorate my whole house with all the plants. I ordered a yummy Rose blend that was super crisp. Also enjoyed the Truffle Fungi! A delicious Shiitake and oyster mushrooms with parmesan and arugula on toasted bread. Their Spanish inspired potatoes were delicious with their dipping sauce. They have lots of gatherings there and DJ sets on the weekends. Lastly, a photographer would die to take pictures here. There is no bad shot as the design artist made sure every section of this cute wine bar was picture perfect. Loved all my photos and videos. I look forward to returning to this exquisite wine bar!

I love the decor of this space! It is definitely intentionally and tastefully decorated. Loved the lighting and plants. They had Lord of the Rings playing on the wall. The vibe is artsy, warm, a little dark, and overall a cool place to mingle. The bathrooms and tables were kept clean. I liked it that the DJ was live mixing. Getting a drink was fast and easy. The high top tables were a bit wobbly, so we spilled half a drink on there. The drinks are strong. I recommend going upstairs to sit instead if you want to hear your friends better. The tables are bigger up there too. The rooftop was closed off but I'd like to check it out sometime.
