Spring Pearl Summer Roll
Anna P.

Cute cozy spot, the place was busy for a Wednesday night when we arrived. We ordered summer rolls , it was thoughtfully prepared, and tasted fresh and delicate. The green curry was tasty and bold, and chicken basil was delicious sweet and strong on the basil so it was super delicious. Surprisingly they had a huge menu, and actually makes me want to to come back and try other entrees. Until next time.

Chicken Pad See Ew

Came for lunch and tried their Pad see ew, Pad Thai, and curry (forgot which one). The Pad see ew and Pad Thai were soo good. The noodles were good to perfection - not too soft or undercooked and had a good chew to it and the flavors were on point. The curry was good, but the noodle dishes were the stars of the show. The restaurant is small so I don't recommend going with a big group. They have about 8-10 tables that can seat 2-4 people comfortably. Take out is also an option.

We ordered way too much food! And guess what?! It was a good thing! You want a Pearl of Wisdom... (right? See what I did there?) Get WAY too much because the next 2 days of eating the left overs the flavors work some kind of culinary magic to tantalize your palate. We had all the curries, green, red, yellow, masaman. After the original feast, the following days I added roasted red pepper, mushrooms, Japanese eggplant and zucchini and topped with fresh basil. I call these "cheater" meals as the base flavors are from something I didn't prepare, but takes ordinary ingredients takes them to another level. Seriously, my taste buds were levitating! So if you value a bargain and stretching you take out meals, this is a fantastic option to spend your weekly food budget and supplement with your veggies of choice!

Pearl Fried Rice

While visiting Pasadena we decided to stop for some Thai Food. When we arrived I was surprised at how small the restaurant was. Once we were seated, the staff was so friendly and welcoming! We decided to order several plates to try! Everything was so delicious! The fried rice is the best I've ever had! The Thai Tea was fantastic! The entire experience was great! It's clean, friendly, warm and great quality! It's a must try if you're in the area! I highly recommended!

Thai Spicy Noodle

So small and cute place! Their food was so good! I had Thai Spicy Noodle, it was so delicious blended with spicy, flavor with crunchy toppings. Love it and I'm surprised that I finish all without bring home leftover! The waiter was very nice and consideration with our communication. Def will come back to try out more food! Parking is available on the street or garage structure.

Pad Thai and Pad See Ew

Always ordered just takeout, the food is good and flavorful. I'll have to stop by for indoor dining one of these days! One of the better spots for Thai in Pasadena! I definitely recommend.

Pad Thai w flash

I ordered pad Thai and curry earlier this week as I was craving them and wanted to try a new Thai place. Everything looked good until eating them. The pad Thai had a very prominent red color that resembled ketchup and even tasted like ketchup..No prominent, authentic taste with sweet & salty balance, tamarind and such. As for the curry, it was a bit watery but not that bad. Both had me feeling very thirsty after do I assume a lot of msg was added. Overall, this is one of those places I'd try once then not return unless someone wanted to go. I don't usually give such reviews but wanted to be really honest.. You can go to smaller places and they'll give you more for your money but if this spot is the only one near or convenient for you, go for it! Stars mainly reflect taste

Both were very refreshing, and I really loved the sauce on the bakka salmon in combination with the mint leaves. Since I'm a huge seafood lover, I ordered the Thai royal curry with lobster tail, lime steamed Chilean sea bass and the royal crown fried rice. This was my first time trying curry and I found it delicious, I'd love to visit Star Leaf again specifically for this dish. I really enjoyed the texture of the fish roe on top of the fried rice - I've never had something like this before. I also ordered the truffle wok seared noodles with beef (I liked the mushrooms in this dish). For dessert, I had the Vietnamese coffee flan and the pink mekong. I loved the presentation of the pink Mekong, and the various fruits were yummy. As for the atmosphere, it was very cozy and I took a lot of nice photos in the front of the restaurant by the pond. This restaurant would be perfect for a romantic date night or a lunch with the girls. The service was great - everything was very timely and detail-oriented. The food was tasty and not overly salty as previously mentioned by others. The portions were generous, more than enough for a party of four. The service was excellent! Thank you to Conner and his team that served us during our meal. The price is affordable! We've been to other places that have charged more for less. A good option for large groups, they have plenty of space! My main goal for this review is to encourage giving this place a try for anyone that is on the fence! I know when we were reading/watching reviews, it was mixed but we gave this place a try anyways and we enjoyed it! Hopefully folks are pleasantly surprised!

It is a beautiful spot to have lunch, dinner or brunch. We have tried all, but we do love their dinner menu the best. Parking can be a pain, but you will be fine. The place is super clean and new looking, although we have been coming for a few years now. The service is great, from the Hostess to the servers, all were on their game as was the kitchen. Our food was perfect and we have zero complaints. You must try Bone Kettle. It is worth it. It is Asian food and boy is it great. It is upscale Asian and you can taste it in every bite. Their Beef Ribs which is a Bone Kettle signature dish- also has fried shallots, scallions. It is so tender and juicy. I am not in love with their Oxtail dumplings, but they were very good and my grandson is in love with them. They are juicy and just so fresh tasting. Their Rendang Carbonara is a must try. It is 24hr braised shredded short ribs, fried shallots, chives, micro cilantro, parmesan cheese, bell peppers, noodles, bacon and poached egg. You can add bone marrow for about 12$. Do that. Finally, and we love all the food, but the Seafood Char Kway Teow is a must if you like fishcakes. It is rice noodles, pork lap cheong, prawns, fishcake, clams, mussels, calamari, bean sprouts, egg, fried shallots, green onions and great chives and chili oil. The oysters in the shell are also great. Have fun.

The beef rolls had a nice light flavor to it & wasn't dry at all. The garlic string beans were PACKED with garlic, which was delicious. The chicken wings were a bit dry but nonetheless still pretty good. My friends really liked their scallion pancakes & devoured them all. Overall, I would definitely come back if I was ever in the area again. It definitely satisfied my cravings for Chinese food.

First time I got beef pad se ew and it was yummy. I went for early dinner on a Tuesday and the place was empty. The second time I went I got tofu pad Thai and it too was yummy. This time I went for lunch (they have great lunch specials) and the place was busy and buzzing. Note that here they put sautéed purple onions in their pad Thai. I'm used to onions on the dish being green onions. I happen to hate onions so it was a bummer, but I just picked them out and it was fine. Both times I got Thai iced tea, I'm lactose intolerant so can't usually have it. They have oat milk to substitute for the milk. I seem to recall back then it was more Thai fusion than it is now. But I have consumed a lot of beer, wine, cocktails in the interim so my brain could be foggy on that account. Nevertheless the food we ate was fantastic. I would love to get bottles of their sauces to cook with at home. The summer wraps are largely lettuce and Thai mint - I prefer having a bit more carrot and cuke in them, but I'm not the boss. The spinach peanut with tofu had epic spinach and tasty tofu. The Chinese broccoli in the Pad See Ew was nice and crisp. I guess there is parking in the lot in the back of the store. Seems to be marked for specific stores. I wonder, does the Spa really get that busy they need that many spots? I didn't see anything reserved for Daisy patrons. But I figured most of the other businesses were not open in the evening. Anyway we didn't get a ticket or towed off the lot.

Even after arriving, I almost changed my mind about ordering because the plaza itself looked very old and rough. I brought my girlfriend with me, and she was actually the one who said that since we were already there, we might as well try it. The restaurant is basically takeout only, and the inside is very simple and worn down. That said, the person taking our order was extremely friendly, which made the experience much better right away. After checking Yelp, I decided to order the Indonesian fried rice, BBQ chicken, and fried chicken. The fried rice was easily the highlight. I got it spicy, and it had a nice kick that made it feel more special. I'm not sure if this is part of the Indonesian style, but there were little bits of noodles mixed into the fried rice, which made it unique and really tasty. It also had a generous amount of meat inside, and the portion was huge. It was probably one of the best fried rice dishes I've had recently. The BBQ chicken was solid too. It had that tasty Hawaiian-style plate lunch feel, came with mac salad, and was seasoned well. The fried chicken was a little mixed for me. The crispy outside was good, but the chicken itself had a slight off taste, like it didn't feel as fresh as I hoped. Not terrible, but definitely not my favorite item. Overall, Top Restaurant surprised me in a good way. The place itself is very no-frills, but the fried rice alone makes it worth coming back. I'd definitely return for that.

The crab fried rice tasted good, but the flavor of the crab was not as prominent. The dumpling was solid, but certainly overpriced for five pieces. The Dan Mein with chicken was a solid dish, but probably could get similar dish at the Chinese restaurant in San Gabriel Valley. The servers were excellent, very attentive, extremely friendly, and definitely helpful. Would definitely come back, but knowing that it is on the expensive side.
