Optic Gallery on Lake Mead is part of a franchise and is owned by someone else. Although, I called this location as I had a day off and wanted my eyes checked and they had availability while the other one didn't. I'm glad the Lake Mead location was able to see me and got to experience the new doctor and workers and I have to say I like this location much more. Office is quite large. Dr Angela was amazing as she calmly walked me thru my eye issues, with options and recommendations. Teresa is who I met with after the prescription was written up. She also provided options and walked me thru what my insurance covers and irs much more than I was ever told or even knew. I am happy with their patience and thoroughness. I will be returning with my daughter.

One thing we both noticed about this clinic is that they have much more advanced technology compared to other optometry offices we have tried. They did the standard pressure testing, peripheral vision testing, took photos of our retinas, and of course the standard vision testing. I love how fast and straightforward everything was. Everyone treated me very kindly. The exam process was a bit of a pain. They have this test that they blow air into your eyes that I did not like. Because I kept blinking during this process, they red flagged me as possibly having glaucoma and immediately wanted me to see a specialist. Dr. Valdez wanted me to see a specialist immediately, but NV Eye Surgery said it could wait a day. Her response to that was, "Well, it's their problem now!", and laughed. That along with being consulted on new glasses by someone who clearly wasn't properly trained yet, and trying to sell me extremely expensive glasses and then later telling me they had more affordable options "in the back" makes me hesitant to come back here. I'm actually considering going elsewhere to get my glasses after this experience, especially after NV Eye Surgery completely cleared me of having glaucoma. What a bad first experience. During my exam both the eye tech and Dr. Shimizu were very friendly and thorough. Dr. Shimizu took the time to prescribe contact lens that fit my lifestyle needs and I can see much better at night. I was quoted $300 just to put basic single lens lenses in my own sunglass frames. I told the woman helping me their prices seemed exorbitant. Their base model frames were $300. When I told her I was gonna hold onto the prescription and shop around she told me I'm going to end up paying the same everywhere. I went down the street to Visionworks and got new lenses for my own sunglasses frames, plus 2 brand new frames, and 2 sets of brand new lenses for those 2 frames for $510! Both of the glasses I got at Visionworks were name brands, but not high-end name brands.

They are appointment only and it's SUPER easy to use their online tool to make an appt. ANYWHOO.... Dr. Julie is the bomb dot com. This office is probably one of the best full-service Optometrist offices I've been to in a long time. She's so gentle and kind that my kids look forward to seeing her. We suspected that our 3yo might need glasses and Dr. Julie took a minute to assess her and validated our concerns. She didn't have to as my daughter wasn't scheduled. She just tagged along because she LOVES seeing Dr. Julie. One thing that's kept us coming back is that they never pressure us or mandate a plan. I'm due for new glasses and yes, I could get new frames. BUT, I have a giant head and it's hard to find a good fit. I got these frames a couple of years ago from this office. The poor guy went through the wringer trying to find the best fit. Before this pair, I wore my glasses for maybe a total of 2 weeks out of the year. Since this pair, I'm a good 50/50 because they're so comfortable. Angela could vibe that my eyes were wandering. She totally understood that I wanted to check out my options. She said she didn't want me to have any regrets (I do spend a lot of time thinking about what if). She too went through ALL the cabinets and drawers. She gave honest feedback on fit. There was zero pressure which made the process honest. In the past, I've definitely gone home with glasses that I hated and it was the worst. I ultimately went forward with just replacing my lenses. I love that both she and Dr. Julie mapped out the next steps with many options. I'm navigating this NEW stage of my life (bifocals, readers, different glasses for different things) and it's a little daunting. If one didn't work out, we had a backup plan. They were SO GENTLE with this transition (no one wants to be reminded they're getting older).
