My husband and I had not been here in forever and I was craving my favorite Tabasco cesar salad with blackened tuna. The salad was tasty just as I remember. He ordered sliders and was expecting shoe string fries, which they no longer serve, so he was a bit disappointed in the change of fries. He also had gumbo which was good but he said it had no heat to the flavoring. He wanted more spice. As far as service, we were seated next to the kitchen area. Not sure why but we could hear a door constantly slamming but I couldn't see it from the booth. At first, the server came by multiple times. We barely sat down before she was trying to take the order. Once we were not ready right away, she disappeared. We finally did order. After our food was delivered, we hardly saw her. This remains one of my favorite restaurants. You really can't beat their happy hour menu of $1.50 oysters. I love when happy hour menus have both drinks and food options. As someone trying to eat healthy I appreciate that there are blackened fish options. I always really enjoy the alligator tails as well. You can get them blackened or you can get them fried or half-and-half. I recommend half-and-half. It's a good blend and they're seasoned really well. This isn't a place that you would think to go watch a game, but they do have TVs in the bar area and they have some booths that have their own personal TVs. I think that makes this place for unique in addition to having a large patio. We've had family events here with groups over 15 to 20 people so they also have private dining rooms as well. We keep giving it another chance and it gets worse each time. This time we ordered the fried catfish which was great. But the one side of coleslaw came with a latex glove in it. It ruined the whole vibe for the 6 of us. They comp'd us with 2 desserts to go which we ordered chocolate cake and cobbler. When we got home we had key lime pie and cobbler with ice cream that melted on the way home. A complete fail. 1st of all on our visit, it will be our last, 2nd upon arriving the hostess led us to an area that was not even open, then had to place 2 tables together for our party, in an area that was filthy and the tables they placed together were right in the middle of a walkway. We relocated from Key Largo FL two years ago. We didn't expect to find good seafood here, but were beyond disappointed as we learned 'fresh seafood' here is Mrs. Paul's fishsticks or fried catfish. Until yesterday. We don't often travel to the Edmond area but had occasion to and decided we would try one last time to eat a good meal that originated in the water. Hooray for Pearls! Everything about the meal was exceptional. We had halibut and the signature crab cake. As admitted seafood snobs, we have grown tired of crabcakes that were litte more than a fried ball of bread crumbs with some old bay seasoning on top. And calling catfish fresh, well, that should be illegal. The halibut was scrumptious. Cooked perfectly. Covered with a crab based cream sauce....damn! My wife is a crab cake lover. As soon as it was served we looked at each other and smiled. You can see quality sometimes. The two meals and the outstanding caesar salads that accompanied and squash dish and asparagus al dente proved that this place didnt take side dishes for granted. We arrived Saturday afternoon around 2:15 pm and they were busy. We walked in and the hostess was not there but a sever saw us and welcomed us. The hostess showed up and seated us in Aubrey section. My husband ordered the Diablo pasta. He really did enjoy it. Not overly spicy but it did have some heat but you still felt like you were eating cajun food. It came with one slice of bread. That went quick and could have used two piece, we had to ask for a spoon to sop up the good juices. He also got the squash Rockefeller and it was very tasty. I got the fried shrimp. I was surprised of the amount of shrimp that I got, you can pick your sides. Instead of Cole slaw, Aubrey suggested the Caesar salad. It was very good. I went ahead and got the French fries and they were hot and fresh. The shrimp was lightly battered and served with my favorite cherry mustard sauce. I have been here many times over the years and overall it is typically a great experience. This visit I tried the crab cakes and was unfortunately completely underwhelmed. The crab cakes tasted like batter mostly and they were soggy not crispy at all like I expected from a crab cake. The sauce they were in was just ok at best. My boyfriend enjoyed his dish and said it was a bit too spicy which I have noticed is pretty common with their dishes. Everything we had here was top notch. The shrimp cocktail and horseradish made me cry, just like I like it. We went crazy and the 7 of us ordered a ton of appetizers. The manager helped out with our waitress, just like a good manager should. We were a demanding table who drank and ate all night. I like the scallops appetizer as well. They have different flavors of oysters appetizers and that was unique for me. I enjoyed it. I just felt like this place was a top quality place where the prices weren't stupid and the place was busy. First time going to pearls. We had a gift card so that was nice. Our waiter Joe was very nice and timely. He checked on us often and was helpful with questions. The food was just okay. The mahi mahi was a small piece with a lot of rice. So much rice I couldn't eat it all. The spicy tilapia with pasta was good just not amazing. Something with the cake it was okay but really not great. Not pictured was the bread that came before the meal. It was hard and not the best bread. I don't care for seafood but was in town and family suggested going here for apps and drinks. We asked for a table for 6-8 people we're told right away that they can't accommodate more than a table of 4. Then after going back and forth for a few minutes they said they max they could do is 6 if we waited about 20 minutes. We decided to go to the bar while we waited for a table. The bar area was pretty packed but we were serviced after a few minutes and the bartender who helped us was really nice! I wasn't really feeling the drinks on the menu so he said he could make us whatever we wanted so I asked for something fruity with rum. The drinks did take a while to come out but he made some really good drinks. Mine was a pretty blue coconut tropical drink. When the drinks were coming out the host was ready to seat us. They put us in back in a party room where there was a larger party dining. We waited about 30 minutes before a party at our table had to go ask who our wait staff was because no one had came back to our table. A waitress came and didn't seem too excited to be waiting our table of 6. We put our food and drink orders in at the same time since we had been there so long waiting. Food and drinks came out pretty slow. Most of the orders came with salads and the salads came out after the food, same with the appetizer crab dip. The drinks came out maybe 10 minutes after the food. We asked for waters as well and those came out just before the food came out. I ordered fries, a house salad and tried some of my sister's chicken sliders. The chicken sliders were good. Overall I'd probably come back for drinks at the bar. Went to a dinner party here. I loved the crab dip, fried fish, and chicken tender appetizers. I would have loved for the crab dip to be served with bread instead of tortilla chips. Oh my goodness.....it has been YEARS since I have been to a Pearls location. The last one I went to was in Norman and apparently closed years ago. I also enjoy their Crabtown location in Bricktown. When our daughter and son in law suggested this for Friday night, I jumped at the chance to have my first raw oysters of the year at happy hour prices of $1.50 per oyster! Well our visit was a complete success. We shared the shrimp cocktail that were priced for happy hour as well as a dozen of the Wharf Reef oysters from Louisiana (smaller than most gulf oysters - I like them that way). They had a really nice flavor and so very fresh. The shrimp were delectable as well. Hubby and I split the halibut with sauteed veggies and the kids ordered the blackened chicken pasta and the crawfish etoufee. Let me just tell you....the crawfish etoufee portion is HUGE. It was so tasty too. I would definitely order that if we go back when it is cold out again. That and some tasty french bread? Yummo! My son in law does not eat a lot of fish and he really enjoyed the blackened chicken pasta (for those of you who have a dining partner along that prefers chicken over seafood). Our waitress, Glendi, was very sweet, kind and patient with us. I would definitely ask for her section again! I enjoyed the gulf theme decor inside and especially the George Rodrigue "Blue Dog" print above the bar. Such a nice touch. I look forward to coming back. Incredible seafood! I see why they have been rated as the top seafood in OKC several times. My wife and I made our way over for a valentines dinner and it was wonderfully reasonable on price with impeccable quality of food and service. I know it says oyster bar but they have a full seafood menu incase you're like us and don't care for oysters. We had the ultimate crab cake to start and it was fantastic! I then got the mahi mahi over rice and my wife got the redfish pontchartrain (redfish on crawfish etoufee). Both were amazing but if you go for the etoufee be sure you can handle classic Cajun spice because it brings some heat. We went for a late valentine's date and I couldn't have been happier. I went specifically for the étouffée. The waitress warmed me a ton that is was Really spicy. I do okay with spice. I don't do a ton, and it was tolerable. The flavor was Awesome and as long as I paced myself the spice was not overwhelming. We also got the ultimate crab cake for an appetizer. It was incredible. Got the coconut mojito, tasted just like an alcoholic snowcone. My kind of drink. Staff was awesome. Always seeing what we needed. My water was always full and I was drinking it down. The takeout service has been consistently unacceptable, including being served old food, receiving poor customer service, and having legitimate concerns dismissed. Escalating issues to higher-level staff, including AGM Brandon, has made no difference--there has been little to no accountability or effort to resolve the problems. I went to Pearls for my birthday this year. Wonderful oysters on the half shell. I really haven't found anything bad on the menu. I got the steak and lobster for my main course. Then my family and I shared the bread pudding and key lime pie which was delightful. Our server was so kind and very attentive to our refills and table needs. We have been coming to Pearls forever. It is one of our favorites. We always order the same thing and love it. However last night the Shrimp Pearl was burnt to the point of black. The blackened chicken pasta was good but very dry. When we told our server about the Shrimp Pearl she was dismayed and told the chef. The manager came out and told us this is the way the dish was supposed to be. And offered to serve something else. By that time we had been there awhile and didn't want to wait for another plate. They did not charge us for the shrimp pearl of course but the attitude of the manager was so flippant. Pretty sure we won't be back. Their freshly shucked oysters are so fresh and delicious with all the fixins included. And their $1 each Tuesday special cannot be beat. Some of menu items I love here: their amazing and big, house-made mozzarella sticks.. Shoestring onion rings dipped in a yummy remoulade type dip.. And their blackened chicken slider is crazy good and smothered in cheese. All of those are discounted at happy hour. (The slider burger was just okay, overcooked, and the only one I probably wouldn't reorder). Food: Overall Pearl's Oyster Bar has good food. Oysters are fresh and is the recommended appetizer of the place. These are regular oysters and just one type. Out of the 3 entrees (crab cake, ribeye, and salmon), the crab cake has the most value, excellent for the price. The ribeye is cooked exactly the way you order and is also a good choice. My least favorite is the salmon which is a little dry and I would not recommend getting. The squash Rockefeller is the most ordered side. It's basically stuffed yellow squash which is alright. I am not sure if it's really something that you would come back for like some fellow yelpers mentioned. Service: Need improvement in my opinion. Our server doesn't seem like she wanted to be there. Not a single smile on her face the entire time. Also, we were seated for a while before our server came and greeted us. Worse part is our food came out later than the table that came after us. Not worth the generous tip honestly. Ambiance: Nice facility. I like the abstract art display and the different fish decorations on the wall. We got seated in about 10-15 minutes and for a Saturday night with the party our size that was pretty fast ( despite us trying to make reservations prior too but they apparently don't take reservations that's neither here nor there lol ) Anyways , we got sat and immediately was greeted by our wonderful waitress cam , she made our experience really worth the 5 star review. from the moment we got greeted to the time we left cam was very personable , attentive , and helpful . all our drinks stayed full the entire time , table stayed clean of dirty dishes and trash , our food came in a timely manner and was HOT . I grew up dining at Pearl's with my mom in the 90's and it was always a big deal to go there. I'm a little sad that this is their only location in the OKC metro area now but it is in a very nice area. I must be getting old because it was really dark in there and it was a little too hard to have a conversation. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. I had the Ahi Tuna Steak with seasoned vegetables and the Ahi was cooked perfectly. It came with a side salad which was mostly lettuce and fried onions (delicious) and Honey Mustard came on the side. Last night i enjoyed Pearls Oyster Bar in Oklahoma City. It is a long- time, and great seafood restaurant, but in a new location in more recent years. I ordered the Ultimate Crab Cake. It came with a Caesar Salad. I chose the Red Beans & Rice for the other side dish. I loved the big crab cake! It was so good, and accompanied with tasty sauce. It was an excellent choice! We had a quiet booth. Pearls has a large bar too. It was easy to have conversation. The restaurant has lots of booths as well as chair seating. The service was attentive and friendly. An Oklahoma City standard for decades, from the standpoint of elevated Cajun seafood, Pearl's is one of OKC's true gems. If anything, the food has improved in the last 10 years. Presentation of the Eggs Luxe and Benedicts was excellent at the Champagne Brunch. We did have a couple of misses with our server. I ordered poached eggs, they sent scrambled. We told them about corn and rice allergies and the alligator bites came out on a bed of rice. But mostly the negative is completely inadequate restroom facilities for this size of a restaurant.
