My GPS routed me to the back entrance for some reason but it looks like they intentionally keep the back door unlocked which is nice. Plenty of parking around back. I came here expecting a short wait since it was dinner time on Friday. While the bar was full I was able to get sat at a table immediately. This place had one of the best deals for a happy hour oysters I found find in Charleston and they were so delicious that I had to order another dozen. I'm not sure what is in the blue dropper bottle (assuming vinegar) but it complimented the oysters really well. I could've used more horseradish since the small drop they give you isn't enough for a dozen oysters. The Spanish Octopus looked amazing and tasted even better. It had a great texture, almost like a tuna steak, and the seasoning on it was unbelievable. The only bad thing about the dish is that you barely get any food for the price you're paying. This has been one of the best oyster bars for years. Can't believe I haven't given a review. I do miss the OLD management staff of Rob and Rebecca, but the oysters are still good, especially at happy hour. This last visit the waitress seemed to forget about h me with everything I asked for. I would have to ask a passing waitress or the Manager whenever she was bringing food out. It was y that busy, so I'm not quite sure if she was just to far stretched, as I did notice the two tables on either side of me, once occupied, was serviced by another young lady. As for the oysters and accompaniments , they were delish. Also sampled a couple of their specialty oysters as well. I decided to try the seafood pasta and it was delish as well. This place is phenomenal. We arrived for an early dinner and were seated right away. Both were great, couldnt decide which was better if the gumbo or the clam chowder. The warm (comes cold as well) lobster roll is small (not shareable) think larger texas toast slice as your roll, for the $24 but it was really good. The dressed oysters are an absolute must! I'm a huge fan of their happy hour which kicks off at 4pm Monday - Friday and has $5 glasses of wine! The restaurant looks small from the outside but they have lots of tables. Great for friends visiting or taking family to a nice dinner without going downtown. Such a great happy hour spot in Avondale area. Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM and even on Saturday and Sunday for food. $5 wines and $10 for a half dozen oysters. This is also the only place that you can get dressed oysters, which come with a topping on the house oysters. They even have smash burgers and non-seafood related items for the no fish eaters. The bartender is super nice and friendly so if you do get the opportunity to set the bar, I highly recommend. They have a dedicated oyster shocker who can tell you all about the oysters and the Charleston area. The parking lot is pretty small in front, but there are a couple of spots available on the side streets. This place does tend to fill up quickly so get here early if you can. Reservations are available, but I've never had to wait too long. read more

This was a great find. We really enjoyed the neighborhood feel of this place with how everyone treated each other. A very traditional oyster joint with hardwood tables, chairs, floors, and bar. Very backyard country feel with great staff and knowledge about oysters. We really enjoyed the happy hour drinks and bites and thought the menu had a great balance between high and low. I was MOST impressed with the selection of Oysters on the menu. Most places here in Charleston shop local oysters only. Don't get me wrong, some local oysters are wonderful, but I've always preferred more northern oysters and Pearlz did not disappoint. We ordered two rounds of oysters they were so delicious. Stopped by here after dinner to eat more oysters at the bar. It wasn't extremely busy on a weekday, so we were seated immediately. The oysters were fresh and briny- just like how I like it. They provided saltine crackers in case people have texture issues with oysters, along with their house made vinaigrette sauce. We took a much needed day trip after our oldest graduated from Basic (Fort Jackson). It was literally our mini-honeymoon (he had orders to Iraq after our wedding). We stopped in for some oysters, apps, and rinks. I didn't order a drink this time around but my friends did. They have a full bar, beer on tap, wine, and spirits. It's very casual, with bar, booths, and table top seating. We tried a few different oysters of the day. our favorite were the gay boy and pink moon oysters. We popped to Pearlz before a hockey game for a birthday dinner. The vibe inside was fun, with a dark wood and booths / high top tables, and fun pix of....pearls! Our waitress, Annabelle, was great. Gave us time to look over the menu, filled drinks timely and was very pleasant! We got the crab claws and steamed mussels for apps, which were both spot on. We got cocktails and the bourbon drink, with a fancy name, was basically a whiskey sour, and the other (a mermaid) was only filling half the coupe glass when it arrived. The dinners were 2 fish tacos ..... just 2 fish tacos. No chips, lettuce or plate filler... just 2 tacos. The pappardelle was a little unsettling when I got it. Half of the noddles were plain noodle-colored. The others were pink and looked like uncooked meat color. I moved it around to make sure it wasn't anything raw or incorrect. It tasted fine but the color was definitely off-putting. The crab inside was shredded and scattered, not lumped on top, so it was lost as far as flavor in the dish. I'd like to try the one in Charleston just to see if there's a difference between the locations. It seems the others, eating oysters, were very happy, but I think we were a bit disappointed. A friend of ours suggested we go here since it was close to the venue we were playing at for a wedding that day. The food was excellent and very fresh. I highly recommend the tequila oyster shooters! It was a smash burger and the best way to describe it is that it's how a Big-Mac done right should taste. Yep, a burger from an oyster joint was indeed an excellent choice and it also didn't break the bank at only a few dollars more than the fast food giant.
