Peet's is hands down the best of the big coffee chains. Anyone who prefers Starbucks is missing a part of their soul. An argument could be made for Coffee Bean but it wouldn't be a winning argument. The great thing about this Peet's location specifically is that it's great for a coffee to-go if you drive to work and like a little pick me up before you get to the office. There is a nice big parking lot outside and it's never too crowded, making for a great spot to get in and out of without wasting more than 5 minutes. read more

Love me some Peet's coffee. It is a wonderful morning ritual for this cat, like going to the litter-box only better, if that's feline-ly possible. The best coffee in San Francisco, served by some truly nice human beings. I am a simple cat, so just a large saucer of regular coffee for me. OML (oh my lion) it is so delicious I could bathe in it. Actually, I think I have, at the very least I've gotten a good facial from those folks at Peet's. (Grooming tip-paw in coffee, wash face, your dirty mind) They have a very good sense of humor (served dead pan cold) along with GREAT customer service. (Pay attention Falletti's) They work hard and are very attentive to me and other pussies. Unlike the looser that is currently my guardian. Like me, she could be from some back ally, probably somewhere undesirable, but I will lie about that for now. Ok, it was Mission St. She referred, ever so eloquently, (at least I am sure it sounded that way in her own mind) to one of the employees as being a "tall white guy aka asshole". OML! I was so agitated by this, I ran around the house hissing for five minutes with my claws extended to their fullest potential (which is nothing to sneer at). I'll tell you something else, there were no 'tents' to be seen during my hissy fit. HA! Protect those jewels, sucka. Anyhow, my fit ended with me over-grooming my asshole, even today it's very tender. I guess it's getting better as every time I examine it for sustained damage, it winks at me, ah friends again. I don't exactly like companies that expand so much that they start cutting corners. So far, Peet's hasn't done that. Though their locations seem to be expanding like wildfire, I must admit I don't mind so much that they opened a new shop here in the neighborhood I've called home for the past 5 years. This is despite the fact that it's just blocks away from my favorite place to get coffee, the Bean Bag. The two places are different, though. Bean Bag's coffee is great, but Peet's has that punch, that bitterness that let's you know this coffee means business. I will continue to spend my money at both places, although if coffee alone, I'll likely end up at Peet's now. So far, the service has been friendly and helpful. I don't feel like I'm in a chain store when I go in (and believe me, if I ever feel I am, I will abandon it). You can't beat buying a half pound of coffee and getting a free cup of the good stuff while you wait. I have yet to try the teas, but they are right there for you to smell, and they smell wonderful. read more

I love me some Peet in the morning! As I am dragging my butt to work at 6:45, it's all that can get me functioning at that unGODly hour. Now... the ONLY thing that kinda bugs is the fact that there are often long lines, and since the place is small you're often left out in the cold when there's not enough room for everyone to wait inside. This is mostly a review for the customer service at my local Peet's (although I do enjoy the coffee as well). Tom and Eric and the whole crew aren't just my baristas - they're my buddies! Best customer service, hands down. Super duper friendly. Always. They're just really good people! Open earlier than most coffee shops-super appreciated. Trendy little spot, conveniently located to Twin Peaks (great place to stop before a sunrise.) I ordered the Golden Cafe Latte which had a nice sting to it with the ginger that's in it. Service was friendly and fast, decent prices, and tasty pastry. read more

I love Peet's. Always great coffee. Never have been disappointed. And it reminds me of home-- my dad is a loyal Peet's customer and that's all we'd drink at home. And it reminds me of college-- I had a Peet's just two steps from my apartment, which would save me through countless papers and study sessions. Luckily, I'm just two blocks away from Peet's now. In the morning the line can get pretty long, but those baristas are speedy! And, they still service you with a smile on their face. I subtract a star, only because there is no indoor seating. Sometimes it's just too damn cold to sit outside. But I do love a good outdoor patio. I'm going with three stars. Now, I love independant coffee, I really do. But there is something about Peet's drip coffee that just can't be beat for me. It is so rich, so strong, so fresh...I admit, I crave it every morning. And now it is great that this Peet's is within walking distance (albeit a long-ish walk) of my home. I have a few issues with this place though--this isn't a very well run Peet's, at least not yet. The service is fairly slow (though most of the employees are friendly) most of the time, the lines are disorganized, and I don't get the sense that there is really anyone in charge. MOREOVER, I have now had 3 cups of bad coffee here (out of probably 20-30). I used to work at a Peet's, and thus I feel comfortable in saying that there is no excuse for so high a number of bad cups. Clean it up Peet's! I hope this place gets better. It isn't like I am going to not go, I just hope it gets better. read more

I don't care what you say, I like Peet's. They have some of the best mochas in town, nice and strong with non-sweetened whipped cream. I know, it "a chain" but it is my favorite of the chains. This one doesn't really have anywhere to sit and also can be crowded and since there are so many other great coffee shops in spitting distance (On The Corner, Bean Bag), it only gets 3 stars. read more

I have been pretty impressed with this Peet's the two times I have been to it. It made up for my initially bad Peet's experience in Mountain View (although I am slowly learning that it may have more to do with Mountain View and less to do with Peet's). Their citrus bread is so good! Also, their sf vanilla lattes are always spot on. My husband and I enjoyed checking out the people one Saturday morning. The parking lot here has it's own attendant who tells you where to park and when it's safe to back out. We saw him almost get into a fist fight with one asshole who completely ignored him and just parked in a really awkward space. This is one hard working dude! I wish they had indoor seating, but otherwise it was yummy. 5 stars for people watching! read more

5 stars for the workers and atmosphere here but a few important shortfalls. No real bathroom ( in the supermarket you are reluctantly allowed to use the employee one), and no indoor seating. Covered outdoor seating, and there is parking. read more

One guy who looks like an older Jim Carrey, he seems nice but actually has attitude. When I asked him if I had any free drinks or promotions, he simply shared the $ balance on my app to make purchases. Otherwise, the staff isn't as friendly as other locations but their drinks are served fine which is the most important when you're taking a to go order. read more

I love Peet's, but this is possibly the worst Peet's location in SF. 1) Drip coffee is never hot. Kinda hot. Slightly warmer than luke. On the one hand, you can sip it right away without burning your mouth. But on the other hand, it certainly makes me feel like they aren't observing the 20 minute rule. 2) They never serve Major Dickason's Blend. When I asked them why, they replied that they want to brew some of the more "exotic" blends. I'm not fooled. By "exotic" they mean the unpopular blends that no one ever buys whole or ground, like Garuda. If I want Garuda (which I don't), then I can go to any other Peet's in the city on a Friday afternoon and where they give it away. 3) Staff is good, but has been getting worse and worse in recent weeks. The manager is great, but unfortunately he has been forced to start hiring the slackers/dropouts/faux punk rock kids from Haight Ashbury for the early shift. And they are morons. read more

Great place to study. Make sure to sit away from the back entrance as this is the coldest spot in the store and it can get very, very cold. The internet is not as fast as other places but still does the job. If there isn't any street parking, you can always park in Whole Food's underground garage. read more

Especially when they are two blocks away from your home. And especially when they are attached to Delessio's Church of Good, Fattening, Will Cut My Life By At Least 10 years Food. I have mad love for Bean Bag, Cafe International (The Grind is pretty much not mentioned for a variety of reasons) & yes, even Katz's, but listen: sometimes a girl needs PEET'S. We will sample any of our coffees at our bean counter, upon request. 6. We use a timer to ensure that our brewed coffee is enjoyed within 30 minutes. 7. We grind our coffee beans just before brewing for all espresso drinks. 8. We only use freshly pulled espresso shots poured within 10 seconds. 9. We steam milk to about 155º F and discard it if it has dropped below 150º F. 10. We never re-steam milk." and the best part is they not recycle steam milk! that is the best guaranteed promise all employees follow as a core promise of peets standards and it makes me happy to know no way will anyone ever reject their latte and it mistakenly end up getting poured into my dainty cup of hot chocolate! read more

Well it was thursday afternoon where my DUC got shot down by a Honda Civic. And was laid to the floor. Skidded about 30 feet from where I was stopped and I myself skidded about 20 feet face first. Got up to see two strangers acutally came up to me and help me with my baby laying lifelessly on the floor. A couple of workers at Peet's looked out the window knowing they saw everything that happen and continued on looking like I was a deer that just mangled by a tiger at the zoo. Nobody saw the guy in the car and nobody no anything as if their life are about to be at stake. Sad really though but what can you do. I give this Peet's two star just because I like their coffee. Other then that it would be a zero. Plus it's not even a Peet's shop its mixed in with deli's and other chain stores so hey not cool place to sit and do your homework. read more

I switched from Starbucks to Peets Coffee several years ago. I love Peets and their coffee is awesome. Pete's coffee on Broderick is not the same as all the rest and I seem to get treated differently then other customers even though I have had visits to this location many times over the last year or so. One time, I asked for a little whipped cream for my coffee. I was told to get back in line and to pay for the whipped cream. Im always willing to pay, but most of the establishments don't make a big deal about it. Yesterday, I paid $5.65 for a large mocha. I was quite surprised when I asked for a little chocolate syrup on top of my whipped cream and the blonde female barista said no. Every Peets I have ever been to have a little bottle of chocolate syrup on the counter near the barista. I have a feeling if it was anyone else, she would have gladly filled the request. I guess its the way I look, how I dress, or possibly my age that Im treated rudely at this Peets Coffee. I will continue to visit this location, but I don't think Ill be leaving anymore tips. read more

On occasion, I get to work from home, and sometimes when I do, I like to start my day with a latte from Peet's. Today on my walk to pick up a large non-fat latte and a bran-cran-blueberry muffin, I found myself actually smiling: not only was my coffee going to be really good, but I knew that I'd be getting the "hi Emilia" and "have a beautiful day, Emilia" that you'd think only come from mom and pop coffee shops. We all know and loves Peets coffee, for me it's the Major Dickinson that keeps me coming back every two weeks. We just moved and this locale is now my closest link to the delicious bean, but I have to say I have one gripe, and that is they have a shelf of pre-packaged beans of what I'm guessing are they're most popular blends. I am not content taking my coffee off the shelf, if I were, I would have no problem just buying my peets in a grocery store, but no, if I make a special trip just to the store to buy the beans, I'm really expecting them to go into their fresh bins and fill up my bag. At the end of the day I guess it's still the same coffee, but I'd never seen peets do this before. read more
