I work in the neighborhood and go to this Peet's periodically. I must say all the people that work here seem very happy. They enjoy their work environment and the people they work with and it shows. There was a young lady doing the cleaning and she was so sweet and engaged in lovely conversation with me. She politely said " Have a good day. See you again." I am writing this review due to being unsatisfied of how poor the management has been within this coffee shop. I remember speaking to one of the managers within this Peet's coffee shop and it seemed like they didn't enjoy assisting the customers and some of their employees. Anyways, I hope that the manager I've been helped by at this Peet's coffee shop specifically will treat their employees better and be open-minded of how the employees working under them may feel at times instead of removing them from work and also dismissing of how customers may feel about the customer service being poor from the management team. Please change the managers especially the one that I've encountered with, I forgot the name, but I believe the name was Kat. If it is, I am very disappointed with your customer service skills and manners especially towards customers. Peet's need to change managers due to the management being very poor. Since I was making daily visits to the CPMC, I would walk down two block to get my cup of Peet's. Located at the corner of Fillmore and Sacramento, this is actually one of the larger Peet's that I've been to. Service is fast and friendly. Though I've been taking my cup of Joe to go, I could easily park myself to the one of the many table and seats in the front of the store. Being a corner location, it offers a great "people watching" view of the street unless you're on Wi-Fi, as I could see people on their smartphones and laptops. Great location. Right by Japantown. Staff: Really nice and friendly. Drink: I ordered the cold brew with 4 pumps of caramel syrup and coconut milk. Needless to say, it's super delicious! I love Peet's, but lately their Aged Sumatra tastes like regular Sumatra, and is very oily, which has not been my past experience. I still go and hope that which ever roaster they lost returns and their coffee becomes incredible again. This particular Peet's on Fillmore St. is the most disappointing, mainly because of their customer service, or lack of customer service. They ran out of Sea Salt and could not make any drinks that required that, and they ran out of their Blue Mountain Coffee, though they left the sign in front of their register up advertising availability. And the quad mocha I ordered was weak. This makes that particular corner the worst Peet's in San Francisco. Came in here for an americano while walking down Fillmore St. The size options for an iced americano were small, medium, and large. I was debating between the latter two but decided to go with the large since I assumed it had more espresso. I then found out only after they charged me that the medium and large have the same amount of espresso. At Starbucks, a medium iced americano has three shots whereas a large had four. I do not think it is unreasonable to assume that a large size would contain more caffeine than a medium size, especially considering that comparable coffee chains do. The guy making the drink was very nice, however the girl taking the order (short, circular glasses) was extremely disrespectful, saying "well this is Peet's not Starbucks". I used to be a barista (and supervisor) at a coffee shop and would not talk to a customer like this. It is extremely disrespectful and the right think to do would be to sympathize with the customer's concerns and understand that it is reasonable to assume that a large size americano would contain more caffeine than a medium. If you're walking down Fillmore St, take your business to the Starbucks across the street. read more

Who would have thought I'd cheat on Philz but when I learned that Peetz actually offers French Press coffee, I got intrigued. And this is how the story ends, in an unnoticed moment (Philz was busy with other men, I guess) I sneaked out and into Peetz, curiously wandering around the store, exploring the extensive coffee menu. French Press to-go? Sounded perfect for me, especially since Philz usually notices if I'm away for too long. Requested my French Press to be made with Ethiopian beans, paid about $3.25, added some Half-n-Half to it, and ready was the most delicious coffee experience since I left the house this morning. So I just walked all the way down to Fillmore from Lyon St. for the sole purpose of reviewing this Peet's. I know this one well, but I don't frequent it much any more, because I have a little problem and I don't know how to fix it. See, almost two years ago one of my buddies lived in the hood so we'd meet up for coffee a couple of times a week. Since neither of us were working regular jobs our coffee sessions came at odd times. Fortunately for us it meant that Peet's was never crowded (as it was at quarter to 9 this morning,) but unfortunately that makes the experience a bit less anonymous. So after four or five visits I noticed a really uncomfortable trend: there was this women, about my age, maybe a few years older who was always there when we were there. She's tan, very fit, always in athletic clothes. I'm not trying to tell you I'm attracted to her, because I'm not, but I'm telling you I couldn't shake this broad. To this day I haven't exchanged a word with her, but she keeps popping up, not only at Peet's anymore. I see her running, I see her at brunch. And in different neighborhoods, too. She acts like she's never noticed me, which is ridiculous, but every once in awhile she'll give a look over her shoulder while jogging, and I never have time to throw up my arms to say "It ain't me." I mean on paper I'm like one of the 6 least threatening guys in San Francisco. I'm short and I'm round and warm and fuzzy and all of a sudden I'm the stalker? F that! Doesn't this person do her homework? Hasn't she done a composite sketch of me and fed into the new Google Image Identifier and run a full background and credit check on me yet? Oh the joy of being back in the heartland of Peet's Coffee. Yes, Boston does have one Peet's, but was located far from where I lived and worked and required a lot of engineering to get there. I used to save a section of my suitcase just to take 20 pounds of Peet's beans back to Boston when I'd visit my family back home in Oakland. Now, I consider this MY Peet's. The service is incredible -- they are savvy to the personal angst of their customers and speed it up when they sense you're running late, but also are friendly and chat if you have more time. My favorites are the Major Dickason's, and the Sumatra. I do wish this location would give more attention to the restroom -- it tends to be grimy and in need of deep cleaning as well as ongoing tidying throughout the day. I know there are a couple of habitual homeless who make this Peet's their HQ, and wonder if they might even be recruited (and paid) to keep an eye on things? read more

There's a Peets inside the Kabuki Theater. It's at the top of the escalators, on the mezzanine. It's not in the Peets company directory, but it has a sign outside the building and another one on the store. It's operated by the Kabuki Theater. Besides the usual coffee, tea, and pastries, it has candy and soft drinks. There don't appear to be any hot dogs or popcorn, though. We purchased two chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons, a hot tea, and a diet Coke for $8.25, and then we retreated to a nearby lounge to enjoy our wait for the movie. read more

I try really hard not to buy from chains, but I get to work really early (around 7am) most days, which means two things: 1. Most of the other coffee shops I like are barely open at 6:50/7 so that limits my options. 2. I need something stronger than hell to keep me awake all day at work. Peets meets both requirements with flying colors. They open early, but they are hardly ever crowded around 7 so I can get my coffee & scone without a line. And, their coffee makes me twitch. I get headaches when I try and drink most other coffee now. One thing--I've gone to this Peets almost every Monday-Friday for the past 8 months now and I order the exact same thing every morning, but they still have to ask. Aren't I a regular yet? read more

Peet's is not just a Fillmore St. coffee shop. It's the social hub of the neighborhood. This place is always hoppin'. The coffee's always brewing; the lines are long; and all their outdoor tables are full with regulars. It's understandable because they serve a good product. Unlike other coffee chains (ahem, Starbucks), Peet's brews some damn fine coffee. And make no mistake, this coffee is STRONG (like Red Bull strong). So consider yourself warned. Peet's also offers a selection of teas, sweets, and other goodies. I would come here more often, but the place is just too damn crowded. That's obviously no fault of Peet's. They're just a victim of their own success. For the record, Peet's is an excellent member of the community. They've donated coffee to my niece and nephew's school on numerous occasions. read more

This is hands-down best Peet's in the universe. I haven't been to every Peet's in the universe, but I've definitely been to more than my fair share all over the bay area, in NY (JFK) and Massachusetts. The Sacramento / California Peet's is by far the best. Why? 1. Fast service - walk in on any morning and your heart sinks looking at the 10+ person line... you think, "do I really have time for this before dashing off to work?"... but you know you NEED the caffeine, so you settle into the end of the line. Within 3 minutes, you're the next person up. It really moves that smoothly and swiftly. 2. Friendly staff - fun, courteous, professional, seem to really enjoy their jobs 3. Very fresh coffee The staff is so well managed here - you can tell because people seem genuinely happy about being at work (okay, nobody is hopping in the air clicking their heels together, but you get it - nobody looks miserable) and the service is just phenomenally professional and swift. read more

The Fillmore Peet's is like cheating--fun, exciting, and wrong. But when Bittersweet isn't putting out, I have no choice. Bittersweet is my first choice for coffee on Fillmore because it brews Blue Bottle and has a kickass staff. HOWEVER, those damn bastards don't open until 10am and sometimes I can't wait that long for my morning fix. (note: "damn bastards" is a term of endearment). Enter: Peet's. The coffee is great and so is the staff here. The pastries are doable--and again, so is the staff. (Kidding! Do-ability does not enter into the equation...I can't imagine doing ANYTHING until I've coffeed-up). My only reservation is the placement of the half&half/sugar station at the end of the bar. It gets cramped with people at their crankiest--that is, me and my coffee-hooked brethren just prior to our first hit of the day. Despite this, I still love Peet's--my coffee action on the side. As a fomer employee of this Peet's, am I allowed to rate it? I'm going to, I worked at the Pacific Heights Peet's for 2 years. And I loved it. Prior to working at the this Peet's, I worked at the Peet's in Walnut Creek. While vastly differerent, I loved both. The Head honcho here though, Brian Chew, WOW...I can not compliment him enough. He has the CUTEST, NICEST little kids that his cute wife brings in a few times a week. The staff know and love all of them. He himself is one of the nicest person's I have ever known. And he really creates a family-like atmosphere in the store with both the employees and the customers. The coffee there is THE best. Always fresh people, always fresh. The pastries are delievered every morning and not kept the next day. The specialty drinks are made by employees that have been working there and making the same drinks for years. Peet's beats! ....any coffee shop like Starbucks or Beans & Co. :) I must say the quality of coffee is super duper quadruple better than Starbucks or any of those chain joints. Coffee: Very rich in flavor, has the caffeine to keep you going, and if you order a more sweet drink it doesn't feel like you're drinking a cup of liquefied sugar. It defeats the purpose of coffee if you are bombarded by sugar, Starbucks ;) you can actually taste the coffee (which I love as a coffee addict). I usually order the house coffee, with a splash of hazelnut, or my usual soy hazelnut (1 pump of it) latte. The drinks never fail. The teas are always superb too. I like the green tea, just be aware because if you're impatient like me, it'll scorch the crap out of your mouth if you don't wait for it to cool down. Service: Always so welcoming and nice! The employees (even the customers) are pleasant, and prompt with the service. On weekend mornings I love walking in and seeing all the customers and their dogs. :) I've gone here for YEARS, and will continue to visit! read more

This is my closest Peet's so I visit about once a week. It's usually filled with regulars reading and people-watching. The line is never too bad and the drinks are always prepared with care. But today they really earned my loyalty with their customer service. By far Peet's Coffee is my favorite coffee. It's strong, and flavorful. It makes every other coffee place taste like they're serving hot water. I've yelped at other Peet's, but this one deserves a 5+ stars because the morning staff is amazing. If Milette, Bruce and Brandon are still there, you guys are awesome and made the place feel like "Cheers". It's where everybody knows your name... drink , and pastry. The line will be out the door and yet I'll still get my coffee in 5 minutes. The pastry are to die for- especially the scones and cinnamon twist. read more
