Stopped by Blue Bottle at this location since I had a meeting nearby, and had not made my daily coffee. I stopped in, and the place was pretty mellow for the ambiance, there was a bit fewer people than I expected, as it was around 9 am, so I had anticipated a rush, but there was no line, so I had no complaints there! Walked up to the counter, looked at the coffee options and ordered the first (totally forgot the name) item under the coffee section. The barista asked if I wanted the pre-made coffee or pour-over, and I said whichever was more convenient. The Barista ended up doing a pour-over as the ready-to-go pre-made coffee was out, but the time to make the pour-over wasn't too long at all, maybe about a minute or so. He also asked if I wanted creamer, and I 100% did, let him know that 3/4 of the coffee cup was good, the rest was creamer as I like it a bit more brown than black. This location of Blue Bottle is convenient and close to work. I don't frequent it too often though because the cost of a cup of coffee these days is just way more than I want to pay. A business catch-up brought me here recently. I decided to get a matcha latte with oat milk. $7 later I got my latte. The presentation was nice. I like that the latte wasn't too sweet. I was in the area and excited to try something new. I ordered a NOLA Cold Foam. It's a New Orleans-Style Iced Coffee topped with a cloud-like concoction of sweet vanilla cream and a dash of savory salt. Every pillowy layer is a dream in flavor. Sip, enjoy, repeat often. NOLA Cold Foam is made with dairy milk and cannot be substituted with milk alternatives. I also got an almond croissant and it was yummy. The cafe was very spacious and well-lit. I was excited to come inside the Blue Bottle Coffee shop today. They have specialty drinks that aren't available at most other places. The price points are way up there, but I would say it's worth it. The drink I chose was iced and shaken, with vanilla chicory syrup. The Shakerato, did not disappoint. I also ordered a (fun-sized) blondie. Pretty small. Made with brown butter. You don't get a lot of bang for your buck here. The iced coffee I ordered was $8, for a 12 ounce cup. The items here are not cheap. Prepare to spend. The baked goods (which included croissants, cookies, muffins, etc) inside the glass case looked fresh and enticing. I'm not the kind of person who generally writes reviews, but I have been going to this Blue Bottle location since the day it opened, so maybe it's time. Technically, I have a Blue Bottle slightly closer to me, but this location has always been the one I choose to go to because the people who work there have always been great. And because I don't have to hang out in the street and watch out for cars like at the Hayes Valley location. Today I had the pleasure of hanging out with and getting my always delicious cappuccino from Fern and Andreas. They clearly enjoy both the coffee and the people, as it shows with their service and their drinks. I'm thankful that they, and the rest of the crew at this location, are so great. A real pleasure. I walked by this one near Van Ness after talking to a nurse today. It was a bit expensive for hot chocolate. I had a waffle that was a bit greasy. I tried to talk to the staff and it was okay. I'm a big fan of Blue Bottle (hoping the rumors they were acquired by Nestle if false). Their coffee is light and not too acidic. Cold brew with oatmilk vs Starbucks isn't overpowering and has a sweeter note. Their New Orleans is a must try but I try not too add too much sugar in my coffee and it's a little harder to customize their drinks. Their Belgian waffles is soft and fully, highly rec. I'm assuming this place has lower reviews because of its location. There's not much parking on Van ness but a temporary load in front. But beautiful inside clean, they have kiosk inside if you want to avoid the human contact. Also note: their app only works with iOS devices as of writing this review! read more

This is my go-to coffee shop since it's so close to me. I come here maybe 3x a week and order via the app. The coffee is consistently well-made and is always made before the time on the app. I usually order a latte and the pull-apart everything croissant - so so good! I'm a huge fan of Blue Bottle's New Orleans-style Iced Coffee with oat milk, however decided to try their new Spiced NOLA! Let's just say...if it ain't broke don't fix it, hence why I had to go back and ask instead for the former drink and the barista at the counter was empathetic and understanding-he reminded me of Evan Mock. While the cafe was smaller than my expectations, features such as self ordering monitors from GRUBBRR and USB ports underneath the round table seats are progress in comparison to their other locations. My only gripes were that there was too much ice added to my drink so by the time I left the cafe with drink in hand, it was very diluted. Sadly I did not want to pull the infamous TikTok situation where the barista literally uses their hand to claw out ice, so pro tip: ask for less/light ice for your iced drinks! There is only one bathroom with a code required, so not very ideal if you're on a time crunch and there are multiple people waiting in line. read more

The wait for your beverage here always takes at least 15-20 minutes and it doesn't matter what you order. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese and a hot Nola (cafe au lait). The grilled cheese was ready in 10 minutes. I finished the sandwich, waited 5 more minutes and went up to ask about my drink and they said I was next. I'm still waiting and it's been over 20 minutes. Support reached out to me within an hour of my original review, and responded to my email within an hour as well. Support really tried their best to show that I as a customer, matter, and for that will add one star alone. I also was not passed around from support agent to support agent like I have been with many other businesses, which was a huge plus. The support staff I worked with was accommodating, and for that I give another star. I had a good experience at this location followed by a terrible one due to hostess. My order- cappuccino with almond milk, a little extra milk in the larger cup. She looked at me like I ordered a big mac, said that my order could not be accommodated. They did yesterday, but ok. Fine, make me whatever you want- in which the barista became frustrated with her because she didn't know the difference in sizes or out the size or know how to ring it up. I get it you're learning, but don't be a brat. She was rude to the barista too! Her unhappy stink face was there today and I can't bring myself to order coffee from such a soul sucking person. I really disappointed with Blue Bottle after I visited location on Van Ness Avenue. Two weeks ago I ordered a latte in Blue Bottle Van Ness Ave, it was made 25 minutes after I ordered it. I came up and asked why it was taking so long. The manager offered to refund me. I wasted 25 minutes of my time just waiting for coffee. There were no customers in the coffee shop except me and three other people who were already there. This incident should have taught me not to go to this coffee shop. But I came back a few days ago again for a hot matcha latte. In the end, the barista made me a cold matcha latte. I asked for milk to be heated and he show me his unhappy attitude, so I felt like I am asking too much. I came back to SF to visit and Blue Bottle is one of the spots top on my list. For hot coffee I got the latte, the great thing is by default the milk option is the oat milk. Having the many years in Italy, I like ordering my coffee to be served in Ceramic cup, when I told them they forgot to do so, they actually remade the coffee for me (instead of simply repouring it from the paper cup to cup that destroy the foam). Just so wonderful! For cold coffee I got the limited edition spice Nola, it is refreshing and different, amazing Pastry wide, they added a few more items I really like the savory pastry with sesame, it comes warm and crunchy, really hit the spot! read more

This is my first experience of a blue bottle located outside of its birthplace of San Francisco Bay Area. Not lying, I felt a tiny tinge of pride when I walked in Overall, this location upholds the usual high standard that I associate with Blue bottle. It's spacious, two gender free bathrooms, even some benches outside. The atmosphere is a bit more industrial than the usual Nordic chill vibe that I am used to, I think it reflects its surroundings in the arts district in LA. Avocado toast is scrumptious with a generous spread of guacamole and well toasted bread, and my oak milk latte and hojicha latte taste just right.
