Ordered a cold drink and asked for a straw. Received said drink and straw. Smooth transaction. No feelings were harmed in the process. This was my first time here and I survived to order another day. WIN! I can't help but comment on a few people who rated this shop unnecessarily low. A few ladies were upset that they were told to ask for help instead of reaching behind the counter for straws and syrups/toppings instead of helping themselves. Ewe! Nobody knows how clean their hands are or what could fall off of their sleeves near our drinks and food items that may not yet be covered. Food safety, health and sanitation, rules, laws, respect, common curtesy.... don't seem to apply to these Karens. Self righteous and petty AF. I think the baristas deserve 5+ stars for caring about the safety of all customers. read more

Came by Peet's the other day and was serviced by a new Peetnik that was somewhat confused with the rather complicated order.... luckily her co-workers were available to help and later realized that we were completely over-charged... The co-worker made it right by presenting us a complimentary drink of our choice the next time around. Despite a rather long line, the line moved along and my latte came out perfectly! Temperature was perfect and so was the smoothness of the espresso! Check around the cashier as there may be promos for gift cards! read more

I'm not sure when Willow Glen became Santa Cruz, or the Haight, but somehow along the line some stores became very guarded regarding their bathrooms. Within the last 4 or 5 months this business changed the knob on their bathroom so you need a key to open it. This along with the lovely detailed "CUSTOMERS ONLY" message means that one bathroom shared by two businesses is now essentially off limits unless you continue regularly to buy items or wish to hold the ungainly dirty key holder, a tea pot. Which is all well and good. But this is Willow Glen. Install a key pad so locals who frequent the establishment regularly can use the restroom (as with Kazoo Sushi across the street) and not have to ask for at the front or hold a huge dirty tea pot that has the key on it. Seriously? Eww. The service I received at Peets was fantastic, as it has been in the past, but I'd love it if they installed a key pad. It would mean I will continue to come back and not grimace at the classy detailed sign every time I come in. read more

Besides having Bay Area beginnings Peet's Coffee and Tea is a great place to enjoy a good cup of coffee. The crew is always polite and professional, not to mention patient with all of those trying to make up their minds as to what they want. We stopped by yesterday after lunch so when I asked for a regular coffee the guy said they have freshly brewed blonde and dark roast coffee. We both opted for the blonde roast. (More caffeine ) My daughter got hers with Almond milk, they also offer soy milk. Personally I'm not a fan of either ( yuck ) in coffee so I had mine black. But she certainly enjoyed hers. We sat on the patio enjoying the late spring weather. It's a great place to relax with a good book while enjoying the day. There's a whole lot more to Peet's than coffee so when you get that urge, give it a try. read more

Writing this as I'm waiting for Internet access on my laptop to finally start working. Been here multiple times, and it's ALWAYS a struggle, whether laptop can't even connect, can't get accept page to show up, or something else. I don't have these problems elsewhere so it's an annoying delay of my productivity. Click accept the TOS about 12 times now but it's the only page coming up when I try to redirect. I mean really...you tell me I'm logged in and want me to look at your page, cool..so I try following your own link and its right back to TOS. I like the convenience of location but if I can't actually get stuff done here, I'm gone. Drinks are pretty good, (if possibly more pricy? I could be wrong). The soy chai latte is not as good as Starbucks. People are friendly, but only once I'm multiple visits have I ever heard my name called when my drink is ready. Not sure if they need a bullhorn? I'm not sitting that far away and my hearing is not bad. I know there's some bier noise but surprising to not hear any call-out at all. I think they're surprisingly fast with drinks, but unless you watch to see it appear, you might be waiting a while. They could also benefit from additional comfy seating. Most spots are taken and after an hour or two they're a bit hard on the butt. I also wish they had a webpage like Starbucks with suggestions for their low-cal drinks. Searching the menu to decide what to order while counting calories is much more time consuming. read more

Went here w/ one of my best friends yesterday and she ordered us both a mocha freddo or whatever it's called. Imagine a frappucino, basically. I originally wanted the dark chocolate but I was told they were out of the powder so I went w/ the mocha.. Service was nice/friendly but the wait is not that quick so do not come here if you are in a rush to go somewhere else. The front lobby and bar area was kept really clean and the retail shelf was nice and organized as well. We sat for like 2 hours talking and catching up.. we wouldn't have left but the cold draft got us to get the hell out of there otherwise, it's a great place for conversations! The service here is so random. Today at 7:15am--rush hour!--only one cashier so line moves s-l-o-w-l-y. Other times I'm in line an everyone behind the counter is fiddling with something so we are all waiting. It's the closest to my house but honestly I avoid this Peets when I can because there is about a 50-50 chance something will be frustrating. Peets is still my chain of choice for coffee but the way the service and culture of each shop varies does mean some are favorites and some I avoid. I've been coming to Peet's for a number of years, but I feel compelled to write a review after a pleasant experience I had recently. I was in the store to buy some Keurig cups for my husband (they are only $10 in store compared to $12 elsewhere) and decided to get a beverage also. I have a lactose intolerance so its always nice to get a soy or almond milk beverage and I especially like that Peet's doesn't charge extra for soy/almond like Sbucks does! I mentioned to the clerk that I was concerned about the temperature of the drink because the last time I had been in the soy milk tasted soured and the drink didn't taste good. My theory is that the temperature was being unnoticed by the barrista who was actually over-heating and burning the soy milk making it taste sour, and was there a way to make the temp lower this time? He was very good in his customer service and apologized, let me know it wasn't a problem and then gave me the drink for free because of the problem from last time. I only mentioned the temp change, and wasn't directly complaining about the beverage so I thought that it was sincerely nice that they gave me the free drink. (because the last drink with the sour soy was a real disappointment) The drink was made perfectly and it was really tasty!! Another recent experience I had at Peet's was at another location, they were massively behind on drink orders due to a group drink that had been put in before others, and they were giving all of us who were waiting awhile a free drink coupon. That was really nice! I also have to thank Peet's for not switching out their pastries like Sbucks, so far Peet's is the only place for a coffee drink and a good scone I can go to !!! There is wonderful quick parking available in the parking structure, directly behind Peet's and Noah's Bagels, so getting coffee on a time sensitive schedule is feasible. I always get the same thing from peets, so I cant speak on anything else, but the Blended Iced Chai is always really good. I always get oat milk in my drinks (not lactose intolerant, but milk is a migraine trigger, so I tend to avoid it when possible), and it is always delicious. read more

Great Peet's location! Staff is quick and efficient as they continually make your drinks with precision. I've tried their brewed coffee in several locations and it's always hit or miss since it can be too bitter for my taste. They seem to stick to measurements and regulations which lead to consistency and optimum quality every time. Really couldn't be happier to know I'll be guaranteed the perfect cup of coffee! Boyfriend had the latte which is always a strong double-shot dose of milky goodness. Great flavor, great balance. Bathroom has a secret code only the barista can share with you so be nice ;) Plenty of seats and tables indoors and outdoors as well as plenty of parking all around the area. Enjoy! read more

This is a short one. Pete's is a reliable place to get coffee when you aren't sure where you are, and it's hard to find something local. The straight cold brew, however, is awesome. For some reason this location is super slow. I mobile ordered, they have a table upfront for mobile orders. When I got there the table was empty. I waited and waited, finally a customer said there were coffees on the bar. I asked the barista how come she didn't bring them out to the table? Her reply was "we only have two people working". So, is the customer supposed to count the Peets employees? It would have been so easy for her to look at the lobby, see us standing around, and announce the mobile orders were on the bar. Peet's stole my heart with their almond milk option. I'm not a fan of regular milk & I made the switch from Starbucks to Peet's simply because they don't offer almond milk at Bux. PRO's: ALMOND MILK. Quality of ingredients used. I prefer the customer service & the coffee of Peet's over the competitors. There is always friendly service here & usually quick. Nice variety & options of coffee & food. I also like the liberal views of Peets, if we are comparing. WiFi. CON's: The parking on Lincoln Avenue absolutely stinks, but still doesn't deter me from coming. Just deal with it. Drinks are still great here, but the awful customer service needs to be called out. The service I received two days in a row from a certain employee almost guarantees I will be heading anywhere but Peet's the next time I'm in Willow Glen. I like my afternoon coffee to be an enjoyable experience, but this employee makes it obvious he wishes you were elsewhere. Yesterday, he literally threw my husband's credit card back at him across the counter before walking away to make some drinks. He also didn't close the transaction in any way by saying "Thank you" or "Would you like your receipt," so we stood there for a bit before looking at each other and deciding that he was done with us now. Went back today and was disappointed to see him working again. Fortunately, someone friendly took our order, but the other guy was the one who made our drinks. When he called our name, my husband asked which one was soy and, without even looking at him, he said in an annoyed voice that it was on the cup. Umm, ok thanks, but we asked you. It would've taken the same amount of time to just say "this one is soy" like most places do when they put out our drinks. And since when does Peet's write anything on their cups anyway? This is definitely a central meeting place for Willow Glen. The coffee is good, service is great, but the line to get your caffeine fix in the morning can take long (or maybe it's my perceptional thing until I get my morning jolt). Verdict is in at this point... this place = good drip coffee with a berkeley 'tude. And their cookies ain't bad either. I've gone to this place enough times to know what to expect (semi-rude service, like "oh shoot, another annoying customer") but they have good coffee so where's a poor addict to go? This time, I specifically went to use their wireless and get some actual work done. Problem was... this coffee shop was !!!!SO LOUD!!! I couldn't even think. Like to the point where I went to answer a call and I was having to shout at the person on the other end. It was like I was in a bar! And judging by the type of conversations I was hearing, it really WAS like being inside a bar. One guy over in the corner bitching to his two buddies about how much his divorce from his high-maintenance wife was going to cost him, another trying to impress a girl unsuccessfully over a high-class, expensive drink, two chicks gabbing away about one of their other friends loser boyfriends. I near expected someone to finally pull out a flask and that would have explained what was really in their coffees... if it hadn't been for the two soccer moms discussing diaper genies, this place really would have resembled one of those bars you happen upon in the dreaded OC or Marina district. The only other person actually trying to relax and get some work done in there was some other lady in her mid-thirties with a laptop. Our eyes met and we both gave eachother a "wtf?" look. I am obsessed with the Black tie -- Peet's version of a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. And with the sun coming out and weather starting to warm up a bit it has been all that I've been craving. The workers here were like a super well oiled machine. Super smooth, hard working and kind service. No one was ever standing still or not giving off positive vibes. My Black Tie was a bit too creamy so they troubleshooted it without giving me a hard time by adding more iced coffee. Other locations hold back on the half and half more and let me add extra to my liking but no biggie. This location is great. Nice mixed crowd with families, groups meeting to work, etc. read more

A really nice, friendly coffee shop. And the good thing is that they do so well they actually are driving off the Starbucks which is closing down now. Starbuck's actually opened up nearby to try and knock Peet's out, but I'm glad they didn't. Peet's is so much better. Everybody knows everybody else here it seems and the owners try and foster this attitude. I love it. Laughs, smiles, helpfulness all around. A good place to be in the morning for a pick me up cup or at night for a decaff to wind down the day. Despite what the last 2 reviews said, this Peet's is awesome! Sure in the morning people can be grumpy, but remember that customers can be rude, stuffy and all that jazz too, and even though it's their job to fetch coffee, they shouldn't have to take snotty attitude from some of these huffy willow glen folk. And hey, how do you feel if you have to open a coffee shop at 5am??? Cut them some slack, ok. I come in there frequently in the mornings and yes they can be really busy!! I've done some observations and noticed that there is only so much that can be done about that as well. For instance, there is only one espresso machine that can make three drinks at a time, so even when the fastest baristas are on there, there is only so much they can do even with a screen full of drinks. Making quality drinks takes time. Plus there has to be a balance of taking orders, cleaning the store and making drinks. Everything is not going to get done in 5 minutes. Basically it really comes down to treating your baristas with respect. Stop demanding your drinks and maybe give them a smile too when they give you one. I have never really seen them fiddling around during the morning rushes, everyone is usually doing something, whether it's cleaning, taking orders or making drinks. I'm sorry, but on a busy day, you will have to wait in line for a little while and you will have to wait for your drink a little while too...deal with it. There is only so much that can get done with what is provided. I've worked in the food/drink service industry so I know how a lot of these baristas feel when working a rush. They aren't trying to be rude or grumpy to customers, they want to make sure things are getting done in an orderly fashion. Rushes can make you a little stressed out at times, so really just hang in there and have some patience with your coffee shop team, they are really trying to do their best. Willow Glen Peet's is the best! I am completely spoiled every single time I walk in. I was a daily regular that loves here coffee! Now I am only a 3 times a week regular but I am still a huge fan of this location because of the staff and the way they make my coffee. I love my large Americano's or my Large Vanilla NF Latte's (iced or hot)... MMMMM Good!! The staff has always had a great attitude and worked hard at making things flow smoothly regardless if there were 2 or 20 people in line... which I am glad, 'cause this girl needs her caffeine!! At times there will be a small glitch; this occasionally confuses some people when they actually have to wait a few minutes for their coffee, go figure! but these moments are few and far between, and most of the whiners are so high maintenance anyway, that it does them good to wait for 2 or 3 minutes. I have never received such great service at any other coffee house like I have at the WG Peet's! Christine, Rey, Lisa, Juan-Carlos, Jerry, Randall and all the rest of the staff past and present... I would have given this Peet's Coffee 5 Stars, but after the situation I had I'm gonna give them only 3. I love Peet's. Their coffee is a lot stronger and better than other big chain coffee shops like Starbucks. When I walked into this one the other morning for the first time there was a big group of older Italian guys hanging out in front of the place chatting and having a great time. After getting my coffee and walking out of the door one of them came up and asked if I'm Italian, and I told him that I am, but that I'm from back east. A few seconds later, a guy with white hair who said his name was Freddie walked up and asked me to hang out. So I sat down and talked with them for a while, but after hearing Freddie make a racist remark and use the word nig@&% after a black guy walked by is when I decided it was time for me to leave. This guy Freddie and another guy he was hanging out with acted like mobsters, lol. They were nothing but wannabes, though. I grew up in New Jersey and know a real one from a phony one. Also, my nephew is black and I was very offended by what he said. I don't know why the staff let these creeps hang out here. I'll be going to other Peet's in SJ, but definitely not this one. Hopefully they tell these characters to take a hike. read more

This maybe one of the worse laid out Peets. Where you stand in line, where you pick up the coffee and where you get the lids causes you to go around in circles. Also the display in the middle of the room for impulse buys causes traffic jams. Got a chai and it was pretty fast. Cashier is super enthusiastic.
