Peet's product is great but the service is horrible at this location! i have never seen any of the female employees smile and the all look pissed off and seem so irritated to have to do their jobs. a few of the guys who work here have been much friendlier. but still not stellar service. when ever i do go to this location it is in the AM hours and i usually see the same staff members just as grumpy as the last time. now that there is a Peet's in the Specialty's cafe near my work, i just wait to get to work to get my coffee so that i don't have to have a cup filled with pissy peoples anger. read more

Two things - 1. Peets coffee ROASTING used to be a lot better even 3 years ago, but that's across the board and not pertinent to what I'm basing this review on. 2. I don't go OUT to coffee places solely for the coffee - my husband has a ridiculously good espresso maker and burr grinder at home so if I really want to get feisty about my coffee quality I drink BlueBottle at home. That being said, this Peet's ROCKS! The staff is GREAT - even at the ass-crack of dawn they are great. What I love about this Peet's is that it really is a neighborhood coffee shop. The staff definitely knows who their regulars are, at least 4 of them are frigging hilarious and its just a really nice way to start the day. Lots of the same characters out front every day (Paper Selling Wheelchair Guy, and the Guy with the really sweet cocker spaniel, and Our Neighbor Who Walks His Kids In The Stroller Every Day) in the morning. And I like that - its nice to be in San Jose and feel an actual community vibe. The last Peets I used to frequent was in Westgate Shopping Center in Saratoga - NOT THE SAME AT ALL. But the one before that was the one in downtown Santa Cruz and the staff there also kicked ass. But the Willow Glen Peet's is EVEN BETTER. I also wanted to say its complete BS that they installed a Starbucks in the building across the street and what's even MORE bullshit is that there's a perfectly good Starbucks (oxymoron whaaaat?) 3 blocks away ON Lincoln. So it always makes me smile that there's NO ONE THERE (at the one across the street). Because that's just greedy and lame. GO PEET'S! *Update - that Starbucks interloper went out of business. Nice for Peet's. The other Starbucks 3 blocks down is doing just fine. Also, walked downtown this fine Saturday morning and the Noah's/Peet's combo outdoor area was hoppin' - loads of families, dogs, kids, old folks and good times. This place has great service! The baristas even gave us recommendations for future purchases based on our orders. This location is great- along old willow glen. There are tons of cute walkable stores and restaurants nearby. Pumpkin chai latte is way better here than at Seattle's Best AND Starbucks :) read more

It seems like a lot of the baristas at this location don't know the recipes and are really bad at communicating with the customers. I've gone to this location, when I'm not around Pruneyard, at least 5 times this summer and every time they seem to forget a key ingredient to my drinks; whether it be the sweetener in my shaker, the caramel in my caramel macchiato, or to fill up my large cup all the way up when I ask for a soy mocha. I've talked to the peetnik behind the register and have tried compromising with my orders, asking for extra of the missing ingredients to assure me they won't forget it again. That does not work as it still continues to happen. The baristas also fail to communicate when they aren't sure of the beverage specifications with the customer, for example: when I ask for soy and they aren't sure if I still want whip on my drink, they often just guess rather than ask as they are advised to do so. I've left this location with almost a half empty cup that instead of substituting whip with more Of the alternate milk I chose- they just leave the cup empty. I can assure this will be my last compliant here as I am no longer going to take my business here. This location needs to retrain their baristas in the recipes and their customer service approach. read more

This is THE meeting place in downtown Willow Glen. If you're new to the area, you must know that this is where you push your overpriced stroller containing your adorable children, all while walking your groomed and overbred dog. Sitting at the outdoor tables in front of Noahs or Peets is the cool thing to do any weekend morning-- know it. Service is super nice here and the coffee is always good, but sometimes a bit cold. In the end, you'll still see me there with my pound puppy mutt and my mid-range stroller from the bench looking at all the cool people in the 'hood. read more

Like another reviewer mentioned, Peet's is the perfect compliment to the Noah's Bagels next door. I try to make sure I go there in the morning once every weekend. It has become a tradition for me.... actually, I started going there with my girlfriend when she would come and visit me for the weekend, but now that she is no longer my girlfriend, I buy all the goodies and I don't share with nobody. I LOVE a good strong cup of coffee. Peet's has the best. Their coffee is just as delicious when I grind and brew myself. The also have a fabulous tea selection. Many different kinds from all over the world. The only reason I didn't give five stars, is because I have received poor service in the past. I have been meaning to write this review for some time, and what better day than Thanksgiving day. This is by far the friendliest and smoothest running coffee shop around! There is almost always a crowd when I come here, but both the cashiers and the baristas keep everything moving. So don't let the line fool you! But more than their efficiency, this is an incredibly friendly group. The cashiers don't rush you, even if there is a line behind you. And the baristas take the time to exchange a few friendly words too. There is a sign right near the baristas that tells you to email the manager Tracy if you have any concerns. You don't, however, need to email her because most days she is right there! She is hands-on and has very good synergy with her staff. She works just as hard as her staff and models great customer service for them. I used to hesitate to come here because of the parking in Willow Glen and because of the crowds. After a number of disappointing experiences at the Starbucks at Meridian and Willow with VERY long waits (both to order and for the drink) and poor customer service, I will deal with the sometimes inconvenient parking and come here instead! Besides, Peet's drinks taste better than Starbucks :) Keep up the great work, Tracy and staff! You guys rock! read more

Between Starbucks and Peet's I prefer Peet's. Today I came in and for the second time they got my drink wrong when I order I always say Iced first but of course they give it to me hot. This is the SECOND time this has happened. I love the location it's right next to Noah's bagels and it's perfect to start your day. But for them to just miss my morning coffee is just wrong. It's hot out, guys! I needed a little refresh in between some errands so stopped at Peet's. Location: Very convenient, in the middle of shopping and eating along Lincoln Ave in Willow Glen. There is parking on the street and in several free lots nearby. I had no trouble finding a spot at lunch time. Interior: Typical chain café interior - several tables throughout, generic atmosphere, very cold AC which felt nice after the heat outside but got a little too cold after 15 minutes. Newspapers available to read, free wifi, and clean bathroom. Ordering: Staff were lovely and friendly. I used the $1 off with yelp check in coupon to get an iced green tea and a strawberry scone. Food: Iced tea was good, flavourful, and refreshing. It came unsweetened, the way it ought to. A bit too much ice for my taste. The strawberry scone was a generous size, had very good flavour, and was similarly not overly sweet, unlike most chain café scones. Good food, good price. TL;DR: Good location, nice prices, bring an extra cardigan if you plan to stay. read more

I love Peet's in general, but this Willow Glen Peet's has the slowest service on the planet. I just stood in line for 8minutes waiting to be served. The person in front of me was waiting for 3 minutes before her order was taken, the I stood waiting for 5minutes before I just finally gave up waiting. The person taking the order knew I was standing there but kept messing around with coffee beans, rather than taking my order so I could get on with my life. Seriously, if you have a customer in front of you for over 5minutes and blatantly ignore them (even with eye contact several times) something is wrong, there wasn't even a "I'll be with you in a minute"... they obviously don't value me or want my money. read more

I like this Peet's a lot. My drink is usually correct here and they pretty much always have my favorite cookie (spicy ginger... yum!) The people who work here are awesome! They're always friendly and willing to go above and beyond to help me out. There is a big parking lot in the back where there are almost always spaces (at least there are on weekday mornings.) I placed my order through the mobile order app and got there even before my drinks were made (not a bad thing) but as soon as my drinks were ready I noticed they were not made correctly. My wife and I stopped at this Peet's the other night for a hot chocolate to enjoy while looking at the Christmas lights in Willow Glenn. We walked in at 8:45 pm and passed four guys that were leaving. As they passed us, one of them said, "They are closed". I know this location closes at 9:00, so we proceeded to enter... and that was a mistake. Everything behind the counter was in fact pretty barren, and they appeared to be closed already, but the woman at the register asked for our order. As my wife was placing her order, the clerk blurted out, "you can't have whipped cream". Hmmm, that was rude, but we decided to continue with our orders anyway. Then the barista (and I use the term lightly), Josh started to make our beverages. He seemed to be having a mini-meltdown about having to make our drinks. In the midst of his commotion it became apparent that he was making two mediums, and I pointed out that mine was supposed to be a large. He disagreed at first, then acted like a spoiled child while he was changing mine from medium to large. I thought about asking for a refund as he was slamming things around the counter, but I ignored my gut and waited for our drinks. They were barely warm, and mine had so little chocolate that tasted terrible. I know it was close to closing time, but why post hours on the door if you're not going to abide by them??? My take away for this Peet's is, don't go... just avoid their drama and their bad drinks, AND Josh should put his big girl panties on and deal with it... or find a line of work where he doesn't have to interact with the customers! last three times i've been in here (early- to mid-evening, before dinner) haven't been that great of an experience. quality of the drinks have been fine, but then again, i'm ordering loose leaf tea these days instead of espresso drinks. kinda hard to mess that up, except for...customer service. this has happened THREE TIMES: three kids who look like they don't bathe (seriously, peet's dress code includes NO JEANS, if you can't wear jeans they expect you to bathe before your shift). these three non-bathing, free-spirited little twerps can't bear to pull themselves away from their conversation about whatever shitty animal collective song they are SO into right now, so they leave their customers (me, boyfriend) standing there staring at them. once they even had the nerve to to make eye contact with me and continue on in their conversation. also, they have gotten into the habit of closing down half the condo bar before closing. you guys know that's not allowed, right ? condo bar stays open until you close and if i remember correctly, doesn't get shut down til the doors are locked. pre-closing the way it's done here is baaaad. read more
