Meeting a friend in the plaza here and decided to try Pete's coffee for the first time while waiting for her to arrive. I told the barista, Karen (a very nice lady named Karen, not THAT TYPE of "Karen ") that it's my first time trying Pete's. I just ordered a large coffee, nothing fancy. I don't know if they have different names for their coffee, like Starbucks does, if they do, I simply ordered the equivalent to a venti drip. Anyway, I went to pay and found out that they recently started taking no cash. Unfortunately, I might be one of the only people who don't deal with plastic or carry it on me unless I am expecting to be making a large purchase somewhere. The lady told me that she couldn't take a cash payment and I said, I would have to cancel the order but I thanked her anyway and said I would be back on another day. She was so kind, she gave me a small cup since she probably felt a little bad about not being able to pay for my first Pete's coffee with cash. This a very cool and noisy Peets. The coffee and snacks are what you would expect at any Peets. What I did not expect was an additional 60 cent charge for half and half. Not only had I never had this charged at other Peers but no other cafe has ever charged me for half and half. In addition, this fee is not listed on their menu board as soy and almond milk are. To their credit, they let me change my order to whole milk when I balked at this hidden fee and came by my table a few times to ask how my drink was. read more

Great coffee, great service! What's not to love? I've had positive experiences with brewed coffee by the cup, in large to-go packs for parties, and fresh ground coffee that I brew at home. I have heard great things about Peet's and as I usually frequent Starbucks I was looking to try something new as Starbucks is usually to sweet for me. For reference I ordered a large matcha green tea latte and paid extra for almond milk. What I got was a drink that tasted nothing like a green tea latte. I received a medium until I pointed out and was then given a large drink that tasted only of soymilk which was never in my order. I understand that people are busy but if I am going to be paying extra for a specific milk I expect it to be that. I'm very underwhelmed and ended up throwing the drink away. What a waste of money and time. I will definitely not be coming back. read more

Nice staff! Seem to have great rapport with neighborhood/ customers. Nice wood decor. My cup rim was dirty but the soy matcha was good. I'm also not a fan of air conditioning, but at least it's not blasting - tho it is quite insane to have to carry a jacket to a cafe so you can wear it inside! Especially considering the cost to the ozone layer. But that's a California issue, not specifically a Peet's issue. Just a quick follow up... I wasn't feeling well that evening and I'm hoping t wasn't because of that cup rim, knew I should have asked for a re-do. More likely it was the thousand year tofu from across the parking lot. Okay, so I'm a Peets stalker/whore! What can I say, the Bux doesn't do it for me, though I've settled in desperate need, but always bitterly so. This Peets is one that I went to on the first day of their grand re-opening this past summer. I followed "Darby" there. His dry humour, quick wit and sarcasm are some of his finer qualities. (No, he didn't have to pay me for those "compliments") I followed him over from the location I know to be "My Peets". I visit every now and again. The only reason I give this location a 4 out of 5 stars is because I'm not always happy with the way my drinks are made...you know, that whole consistency thing. I know that some of it has to do with new trainees, but at this point, it should be a non-issue with the time that has passed since it opened. No matter what, I like the spacious lobby, and the WAY COMFY couch-like chairs. Yum! read more

It's usually busy, but I don't have to wait too long for my drink, which is usually an iced soy latte. They remember my name and my usual. It's awesome! This location I visit the most because of its proximity, even though the drinks are not consistent. I usually order the same type of drink and each time it comes out different - it will either have a little foam, no foam, or a lot of foam - I always order NO FOAM. Sometimes a latte will taste like steam milk. I never notice who is making them because there hasn't been one time where I thought the drink was the best. I do think the people are nice. read more

Whoa! A Peets with good baristas! Color me super impressed. I havent been to peets in years because the coffee isnt nearly as good as what i get in the city. Here, the baristas really know their stuff. The espresso is brewed correctly, not bitter like it usually is at most peets, and they can actually pour a good rosetta! This Peet's location is in a busy strip mall. Parking can be a bit tough at times and can be jammed with people vying for parking spaces during the "rush" times for coffee. The service is great and the coffee (as always for Peet's) is way better than Starbucks! read more

If I could give negative stars I would! Worst customer service I have ever received at a Peet's location. I visit Peet's about 2-3 times a week and decided to stop at one in San Ramon, CA for a visit. I was very displeased with all the employees on that shift. The visit was on 7/6/17 at 12:35pm is when I got rung up, but after standing 19 minutes in line with only 3 customers in front of me. 2 employees were arguing about their hot coffee dispenser was not functioning properly. One was on hold with the customer tech line from what I overheard. The customer in front of us was told she could not order a hot beverage due to the machines on working properly. There were about 5 staff members on duty and only one making drinks and one taking orders. The slowest location I've been to. My fiancé had Google this location and chose this over the Starbucks in the same parking lot. By the time we reached to the cashier there was a long line behind us. A guy asked for our drink and Sara rung us up. The guy nor did Sara have a name tag on. The guy makes the order wrong. Sara charges my credit card with someone else's order. The only reason I figured this out was the guy stated the lady behind me was already paid for. The lady behind me did not pay for her drink. The lady stated she never paid and she needs to pay. I stated to Sara, I told you that you swiped my card twice for different amounts. Sara starts to ignore me and the lady behind me started speaking up for me. Sara states my card was not charged twice and that the swipe did not go through the first time. If the swipe did not go through how did the customer behind me get her drink without paying. By this time my order was ready which was not the correct order. I asked the guy to remake it. He then tells me that is what I ordered. I told him I know what I ordered and if there wasn't problems going on behind the register he would of had it right. I was super upset that he argued with me about the drink. Then he asked me if I wanted it remade. I asked for the manager. Apparently the manager was Sara. I did not like her attitude. Not only was she rude to me, but she was rude to the customer behind me who was trying to pay for her drink! I would never ever return to this location. I will yelp this also. At the end, Sara states she void the 2nd transaction but couldn't give me proof of it. I've been a cashier, there is always proof. She told me to wait for my statement. I started walking away, another customer in line also walked out. I do not know why this location has many positive reviews, it might be the other shifts where employees actually like to work and love their job. If this was Starbucks no questions would be asked besides for how can I make this drink right. Also they would refund my money back. Peet's did not refund my money back, remade my drink after the guy argued with me, and then gave my fiancé an expired 50% off coupon! Thanks Peet's! That's quality for ya! read more

Josh is by far the most competent member of this store (besides the manager). He's friendly, knowledgeable, customer oriented, and really cares about the store's success and employee morale. A new employee made some drinks wrong and he made it right and then some. He really cares about the loyal customers and realizes the value peet's creates for you and me...a one-of-a-kind cup of coffee! When josh or the manager aren't there, it's not the same. I'm usually here after work in the late afternoon, waiting for the traffic on 680 to lessen. The coffee is always fresh and the service great. The atmosphere is quiet and a bit dark in the late afternoon, with the usual background music. Nice for tackling work tasks. read more

I go here all the time. The coffee is great. Service is super. This place always has a nice crowd, mostly professionals and working class folks. The only thing I can complain about is sometime having to wait a bit longer when I am in a hurry. But then again, the white chocolate mocha is worth waiting for. Peet's has something special about it and it always draws me near. It's not as over-rated as some other coffee shops but offer a great quality and variety of coffees and teas. Love this place. Usually only moderately crowded except at rush hour and you can almost always find a seat inside or out. Service is super friendly. All of their beverages are so much better in quality and consistency than Starbucks, probably because they give the general impression that they care. Don't like the wifi limit or need to ask for an access code. Seems a bit petty. read more
