I've always believed that the quality and character of a coffee place is determined on how well they produce a hot and fresh cup of plain black Joe. Today was the first time in my long history with Peets, when their coffee was hot, thick, and the bottom of the barrel. I've had better at 7-11 at 3 AM in the middle of Iowa. The other thing I've noticed about Peets, is that as they have expanded past their Berkeley roots, their "baristas" seem a little less skilled an knowledgeable. That was the case yesterday as the line didn't move well and the friendly folks on the other side of the counter didn't seem very sure of themselves. I still prefer the look, feel, and smells of Peets over Starbucks, but I can't help but feel that Alfred may have some concerns if he were around today. read more

It wasn't that long ago when I looked forward to Fridays: the office is a little less crazy and the end of the workday meant the start of the weekend. However, now when Friday rolls around I find myself mentally and physically exhausted. Not far from that center is this Peet's coffee - a perfect place to grab a pick-me-up before my meeting. Last Friday however, I found parking quickly and was happy there was only a short line inside Peet's. I ordered a caramel Javiva from Melissa. She made me the delicious blended espresso treat and David topped the frozen drink with a pile of whipped cream. I'm in love with the caramel Javiva! My order was super fast and the staff were both so friendly. I look forward to coming back on Fridays to brighten up my difficult afternoons. read more

It's a Peet's Coffee in the lovely Ygancio Valley plaza. The staff is nice, the coffee is your typical Peet's brew. They have decent internet. They're located next to some yummy places to eat (like Kinder's) and a grocery store (Fresh & Easy). Highly recommended! read more

Goodness, the golden tonic I had here was fantastic. A little thicker than other Peet's (whole milk?), sweeter yuzu, and a balanced ginger note. Dear Peet's Corp. or the German Holding Company Concern ownership: Did the planet have to go through a pandemic for you to put simple signs up so that people could line up in an orderly fashion, without patrons getting into a precaffeinated hissy fit over who was next in line? My husband and I have been coming here for a month or so now. The baristas are friendly and efficient. The coffee is what I would say is usual Peet's standards (pretty good for a larger chain, maybe not as excellent as a smaller, boutique coffee place). The space around the ordering area is a bit cramped and sometimes it's a bit confusing as to who is just waiting for the their coffee and who is waiting to place an order. Other than that, I am pleased that they are encouraging reusable cups by giving a $0.10 discount if you bring in your own cup. (Could they encourage it a bit more than that? Yeah, but at least it's something). So, pop in, bring your own cup and join the mobile app rewards program (get a free drink after 15 purchases). read more

I've been frequenting this Peet's location off and on for years, from when they had that bench in the seating area (remember that bench?!) to when they remodeled and became corporate, which seemed to irk the staff : \ Now I returned, and it seems that everyone has adjusted themselves --for the better -- to the switch. The employees were super helpful over the phone (shout out to Mallory). She took my call when I couldn't find a Peet's logo gift card at the Peet's location in Concord. When I got there, Vicky assisted me with my gift purchases and Mallory explained their tea re-branding. Thanks to their excellent customer service, I purchased more gifts for the Peetniks in my life than I had originally intended! Big pluses were that they had: (a) Peet's branded mugs in stock and biscotti, (b) my favorite tea -- Russian Caravan -- in stock, (c) everything was 20% off, and (d) an unexpected complimentary drink with my generous purchase. At John Muir Hospital w/ my dad for a surgery & after he was taken back, I ventured over to Peets for some much needed caffeine Ordered a Medium w/ an extra shot.....I was given a Large w/ no extra shot and I can safely tell you the 2 sizes are *not* interchangeable There's too much milk / not enough coffee in the Large & had I known you'd be giving me a Large, I'd have ordered a 4th shot to even out the milk & coffee ratio When I'm worried about family & already past the point of a caffeine headache, this was NOT what I was looking for but I needed to get back to the hospital so it was not like I was going to have you make it all over again And if this happened randomly it'd be one thing but it happens almost EVERY time I go to any Peet's.....another reason why it pays to go local!!! Loves Pete's Coffee. Large ice coffee with room for cream. Very smooth and not bitter. Favorite is Major Dickenson. They have a proprietary blend for their ice coffee. If I am to be honest, much better than Starbucks. Did encounter a strange old dude out front chewing gum like a cow. WTH, takes all kinds to make the world go round. read more

I came into this Peet's location the other day and ordered my favorite drink, the Jasmine Lime Cooler. However, they were out and had to make a new batch, which meant that I would need to wait awhile. Well, the manager gave me a free coupon for a future beverage since I had to wait. Very nice! BEYOND SHOCKED how they treat the elderly!! wow... This old man did not see something at the condiment bar.... instead of yelling at him that " it's right there......." why don't you take the time to actually SHOW the person whatever he wants is! he doesn't see it and repeating yourself won't make him find it.. how disgusting! rude.... just shocked.. so obnoxious and rude.. The baristas are hit or miss too! this place has fallen apart. Definitely a neighborhood joint, where everyone seems to be friends (or at least all the retired folk who use this as their social lounge). During the summer heat wave, I've escaped my A/C deprived home office to find chilly productivity at this Peet's quite frequently, and I must say... I'm starting to feel like part of the club. Seating is usually abundant, though the "noise pollution" can be distracting with all the lively chatter coming from the retirees. Staff is delightful, and parking plentiful. All in all, a great go-to for coffeeshop campouts. read more

Had some downtime between CCD class, and I decided to hang out for awhile and re-charge my battery. I never had a chance for an in-house stay. I was surprised that my Med. White Mocha came out in a Big ol' mug. It was quite slow tonight and perfect to cuddle up and read the paper. Nice staff and plenty of seating. Bathroom was nice and clean as well as the rest of the Coffee house. This Peet's is a little slow and doesn't have its act together sometimes. One morning the people who opened didn't have the key to the register. Being the good humanitarians that they are, they still opened their doors to us and gave us our free coffee drinks. Outdoor seating is okay. The Pleasant Hill location is a little bigger and Concord downtown Todos Santos Plaza is a pretty good size. Emeryville is the mother ship and they will do a custom cup of drip just for you while you wait. read more

General comment about pretty much every Peet's I've visited (Vine St. Berkeley, 4th St. Berkeley, Locus Walnut Creek, Ignacio Vally Rd Walnut Creek) Why are they so freaking slow at making drinks? It seems like even when the store is not crowded it still takes 5-10 minutes for a drink. I feel like either the music is too loud or the place is so small that everyone's voices just overlap each other. I've been to several Peets and have always gotten excellent products and service. This location didn't come close to either of those. My Freddo tasted awful, like there was no coffee in it and the milk they used was sour. I brought this to the attention of the barista who only responded with "interesting" and made another one. That one tasted worse than the first and I requested my money back. He still did not apologize for the bad drinks. I'll give 2 stars because they were compliant about giving me my money back but the customer service left much to be desired. had a mango tea here (4ish) recently. it tasted good with the added whipped cream. i noticed that you can get a free med coffee if you add $25. to your peet's card. after paying for my drink, i looked for a "pick up drinK" sign but didn't see any, so i assume it was at the far end. when the cashier there asked me what i wanted, i told her i was waiting for my drink. she pointed me to the front of store. i arrived there just in time to hear my name announced. the cashier smiled at me as she handed me my tea. i may return here if i could find this place again. read more

I like Peet's and prefer it to Starbucks. I love that they have samples of different brews sitting there in the French Press. This Peet's is a little on the small side, and I find the service to be a bit slow, especially in the morning. Otherwise, it's typical Peet's goodness. read more

Also, I like how they don't try to re name teas that already have names like Starbucks (ie decaf green tea is called decaf green tea, not Calm).
