I have visited twice, first on a busy Sunday morning, the staff weren't there to serve the number of customers. It just took to long. I just love Peet's in general for their coffee. I do like Starbucks but if I had to choose between the two then it would definitely be Peet's for the fast and friendly service and the better tasting coffee. This is a nice Peet's, busy in the morning like most, but always cheerful enough, before the caffeine and sweets set in. The employees are always one of the most consistently nice bunches of any coffee-teria, and they always work really hard to get the coffee out fast without ruining the quality and getting sloppy. read more

The charm has officially left the building. What happened to the cozy feel and serenity of this place? Is this the new direction Peets is going in? The energy and decor was so intense it seemed chaotic. I couldn't hear myself think. The direction to go and wait for coffee & to place your order was so confusing. People were also cutting in front of me to try and navigate to the bathroom, which was frustrating. And my Carmel latte is so watered down tasting. The service here can be slow regardless of the time of day. Staff seem to be more concerned about washing something or wiping down stuff than waiting on customers. I prefer Peets to Starbucks any day but when I get service like this it makes me want to go to Starbucks. read more

Unlike the Peet's on Locust, this one has decent seating inside, and its always refrigerator-cold inside. A great place to escape the heat in the summer and grab a for a Freddo. Or take your coffee outside, pick up a used book next door, and sit your ass down on the patio chairs. read more

I will say the service and the people are greatly improved. Three employees have taken the time to learn my name and remember my drink order. In all the years I've frequented this peets it is only within the past 6 months its improved, which is ironic because when I wrote the original review 6 months ago it was after years of growing frustrations. The very rude counter girl that I couldn't stand is no longer there and so it is a much more pleasant experience for me. And, the last time they messed up my drink they gave me free drink cards! That nasty old counter girl never did that and never apologized either. So, long story short much improved, better staff, and I go there 3-5 times a week now. Yay! read more

Peet's puts all other coffe houses to shame. I prefer my coffee pretty strong and Peet's delivers robust flavor and a high caffiene content. This Peet's is ultra convenient and the staff is friendly and capable. But it's the coffee that matters most and here Peet's has no rival. I don't even bother with coffee anywhere else. read more

Peet's is my favorite coffee shop. Ten years ago I thought the coffee there was too strong but now all others taste too weak. When I drink my usual, decaf Latte extra hot it always tastes like dessert to me. When I order it from other coffee shops it just tastes like a Latte. Peet's just has an extra richness that you do not find at other places. I also like to buy my beans there. I can buy as little as 1/4 of a lb. if that is all I want, I like that flexibility. I was introduced to Peet's Coffee by my sister at Berkeley and this particular location is a favorite of mine! Everyone who works here is friendly and very quick - great customer service! No attitude and the place is always clean! I'm in a wheelchair and they always go out of their way to accommodate me - even when it is packed! They are really nice to my service dog too! I give them a two-thumbs up and my dog gives them a four paws-up!!! read more

This is the neighborhood Peet's, so the vibe is different (better) than other Peet's, even though the coffee is great at all their stores. Faster and better service than downtown WC Peet's, that place is so mellow it's almost comatose. The Ygnacio Valley Rd. Peet's is like the "Cheers" of Peet's stores where everybody knows your name (ok, only one barista knows my name, but that's better than zero :) Grew up in Berkeley with the original Peet's locations on Vine and also Domingo, nice to see the coffee is still great! read more

I just went to Peets Coffee today and had a wonderful cup of coffee. I ordered a capucino and it came out fast and was very good. The line was long when we got there, but it moved quickly with very little waiting. One of the things I like about Peets Coffee is their attention to detail when making their products. They even decorate the foam with color which doesnt make the it taste better, but it adds to the experience. The only issue with this particular Peets Coffee is that it was extremely loud inside. I think they had a few of their regulars and they were almost yelling at each other. Not in a mean way, they were just loud guys. I will go back and update this review if my next visit is not so loud. I would still recommend Peets Coffee. read more

Of all the Peet's in this area, I like this one the best! The people are always positive and friendly. The lines are usually manageable whenever I come in. Granted, it can get long at times, but they seem to have the line moving at a good clip. Most of the Peet's in the area seem good, but this is hands down my favorite. Yes, it's the location, but it's also because of the crowd. Dogs to pet, and a lot of friendly customers to greet. My nickname for Starbucks is Starsucks - because the quality of the coffee is lacking. Peets on the other hand has quality coffee that actually tastes like it should and not like a cup of syrup. I visit friends in Walnut Creek nearly every Sunday and I had been having a slight issue locating a Starbucks near their home that did not require me to go out of my way for an expensive cup of coffee. One night, while having Chinese food in the mall next to this Peet's, my friend suggested I try their coffee. Having never tried Peet's coffee before, I decided to give it a go as I was suffering from caffeine withdrawals. Peet's coffee is nothing different than anything else I've tried, it has a distinct flavor but I do not feel that it is stronger than other kinds of coffee (maybe I have a high tolerance to caffeine) as some of my friends claimed. The coffee is definitely decent though I would not call it "superior" as most Peet's fanatics claim it to be. The price is up there but is competitively less than Starbucks with some of their drinks. The various foods and treats though around the store are pricey; I tend to stay away from those. Maybe it is standard with all Peet's Coffee shops (this is the only one I've been in so far) but they hand you your drink without a top or sleeve. Not sure if this is absolving them of any liabilities but it is a minor annoyance. With this particular Peet's, I had some initial problems learning the lingo as I mostly know only Starbuckese. What is a Freddo? So there were some miscommunications here or there but the staff was polite and friendly enough to help me through it. Friendly service is something that has me coming back again.
