This is the only peets location I've ordered an iced cold brew with room to pour almond milk in that they charge .60 cents for ME to pour an ounce or less of almond milk in. When I questioned the woman at the register she said to one of the other employees "like she even knows what an ounce is!" YES I DO BECAUSE I ALSO WORK FOR A COFFEE COMPANY AND CHOOSE PEETS FOR THE ALMOND MILK OPTION! So I go to the hand off bar to pour myself the almond milk and some into my fiancés cup and the box is empty and I ask for more since there was literally two drops the came out and they said they had no more. Let me start off by saying that I love Peets Coffee, but this location is horrible. They are so under staffed and service is so slow. This past week I went in to find out that they were out of non-fat, 1% and 2% milk, all they had was whole milk. How can you run a coffee shop without milk? Nothing fancy or special, they serve coffee, it tastes like Peet's coffee. It is moderately clean, moderately friendly. There is limited seating and it's all bunched up together. There is nothing to make it stand out or be a problem. It's just a coffee shop. read more

First of all, I'm biased because I LOVE Peet's coffee. Being that I am a new transplant in town, and we didn't have stand-alone Peet's shops where I'm from, I imagine I will be frequenting this place at least semi-regularly. This morning, we took the BART to Downtown Walnut Creek, and arrived at the coffee shop before 9:00. It seemed busy but there were at least three baristas behind the counter. My hubby ordered a large coffee, and I had the small decaf. We thought we would try with a simple order of coffee and see if we like it before learning whether we would need to branch out into other made-to-order specialty coffees in the future. I'm happy to report that both of us found our coffees to be fresh and above-satisfactory in flavor. The coffee had a distinctive nutty finish, and did not have a bitter aftertaste at all. It was very smooth. The lady who took our order was super sweet, and although busy, did not seem rushed or flustered at all. The environment in general was cozy and relaxed, even though the place had plenty of patrons both inside and outside. The Verdict: Still love Peet's, and this location is no exception. read more

Stopped by here during the 10-day stretch of rain in the bay area to pick up a coffee n ground beans. What i liked: -very friendly staff!!! Bought a pound of coffee n server separated into 2 bags as I wanted to fit them inside a bag for travel! -close to perfect VANILLA LATTE!!! And I literally did get service with a smile :-) -discount on coffee if you buy ground beans(either a free drip or -$1.95 off specialty drink) Why no fifth star: -as another reviewer mentioned, a bit too dim inside. Of the three coffee places in downtown Walnut Creek (Peet's, Saxby's and Starbucks), Peet's is the best. The quality of their coffee is great with smooth lattes (and breves, as I prefer), rich standard brews, and a nice tea selection. Also, the atmosphere -- ambiance -- of the coffee house is the best in town. Peet's has a nice, shop-like feel with their beans on display and a wall of glass doors with various teas. This store feels the least "commercialized" of the WC coffee houses, the baristas are the most skilled, and the indoor and outdoor seating are both very nice. The only complaint I could levy is that they close early -- 8:00. OH! Peet's is also a LOT less expensive than Starbucks. My 20-ounce vanilla breve at Starbucks is $4.65. At Peet's, $3.70. read more

I really LOVE the service and good coffee at this location. I had a check in offer from my 1st visit and because I was honest and actually deleted it in front of the cashier, she said not many are honest and do that, she gave me a card for a free drink on my next visit for being being an awesome customer. I love my Peets coffee! Been stopping here for quite awhile. It's a small store and the line could get long, but it does move very quickly and once in awhile they shout out "welcome everyone, thanks for coming in, we'll get to you as soon as we can". However, about 4 months ago I had to stop because the lines were so crazy. One morning, I came in via the back door and surveyed the line - it went out the front door! I love this Peet's because I can walk to it and the folks who work there are super nice and friendly. (And I agree with Tony A., Carmen is a sweetie!). My only complaints are: - They use Espresso Forte a lot lately and it's my least favorite blend (although I'm not sure who decides what blend they use, it could be a higher ups thing) - There's usually never anywhere to sit since the space is so small inside and outside goes fast too! I am SO happy to have this Peet's in downtown Walnut Creek! We walk here on the weekends and love to sit outside and eat a pastry with our coffee on Sunday mornings. It's a coffee shop, I can't say it's necessarily better than other Peet's but I'd go here over Starbucks or any of the other "local" coffee shops just because their joe is ALWAYS fresh. I'm not giving it a full 5 stars (or 4 for that matter) because of a huge variance in their service. I work down the street so I'm in there almost each day (sometimes twice) to get coffee, tea, or a mocha. I almost always bring my own mug (or cup for an iced drink) and love the discount but said discount seems to vary depending on the cashier - anything from a $1 refil charge up to $2.50...that's a pretty steep difference. The front always looks pretty clean and well put together, whoever, if you ever are in a pinch and need to use their bathroom....beware. The back is dirty, looks like it hasn't been mopped in FOREVER and the bathroom made me feel gross when I left, shuddering with the knowledge that the staff there wash their hands in that seas-pool of a sink. Look, if you want a good cup of coffee (and it really is GOOD!) or some tea or anything else it's great...just don't poke around too much or you might not want to come back. read more

Peet's coffee and tea is always better than what you get at Starbucks, but today the visit was pretty poor. They were very busy, but made no point to come out on the floor and clean up. Several tables sat empty while customers stood outside because previous customer trash was not being picked up. There were food crumbs and paper trash all over the floor. The trash cans were overflowing and the bathroom had paper towels all over the place. I've worked in service, I understand how stressful the constant rush can be but there's no excuse for neglecting the seating area. There were four baristas on while I was here. I love the coffee at Peets, one of the small things that make the cost of living in the bay area almost worth the huge cost. The downtown Walnut Creek location always has the friendlest Peetniks working there, my personal favorite is Carmen. The only reason they don't get a fifth star is that I hate waiting on line and they have a big line... Here's a suggestion, have a "Drip Coffee only" express line in the mornings. Nothing worse then getting stuck behind three or four people ordering their Mocha Soy Skim Latte fufu drink one after the other when your in a rush and just want a simple cup of coffee. This Peet's is by far the BEST Peet's in the area. As a HUGE Peet's fan and coffee lover, I highly recommend this place. The staff is so friendly - probably one of the top reasons why I go there all the time. They always greet with a smile, call me by name and make my drink perfect. I go there so much, they know my drink order, which is an iced white mocha with peppermint. I know it's a winter drink but I like having it all year long. In fact, the manager of the Peet's on Locust told me that she orders the peppermint syrup just for me! Well, regardless if that's true or not, it is the only Peet's in the area that continues to have the peppermint syrup so I'm going to believe her. :-) I live a city away and on weekends I will drive to this location just for the coffee and staff. If you didn't have a good experience then that means it had to be a rare, off day and you need to try again. I only really know the morning staff but I'm sure the afternoon and night staff is just as nice. Another highlight is their coffee drinks. Unlike Starbucks which fills their drinks with syrup, you can really taste the coffee in the drink. It's the STAR of the drink whereas at Starbucks, the star is the number of pumps of chocolate that overwhelms the taste of the drink. This is why I stopped going to Starbucks. I felt like I was drinking syrup. Peet's really understands the importance of the espresso shot and knows how to utilize it well in the drink recipes. Overall, great coffee and great location! We love to stay in Walnut Creek for our trips to San Francisco and we start each morning at Peets. They sell the most delicious vegan apricot scone that was not offered at the SLO Peets, so we stocked up on plenty for our trip home. The atmosphere here is very friendly, a great place to sit and read while drinking our soy vanilla lattes and planning our day in the city. Today we had a not-so-great experience when our drinks were less than stellar (M's too cold and C's may have been lacking vanilla), but someone else took over behind the bar and he remade them when we requested and they were perfect! One of my favorite Peet's due to its central location downtown. A big plus is you can sometimes find parking in the lot out back. Tip: if you can't, park at the Mc.Ds next door and pick up a breakfast sandwich first. Like most Peet's, not a lot of seats inside, but on a warm day, you can grab a seat on the sidewalk and check out the pretty girls (and MILFS) strolling up and down Locust. Expect to see a lot of regulars at this location, including one homeless guy (in Walnut Creek) and one crazy guy who likes to walk in and out of Peet's thirty times on any given day and uses the parking lot as his own personal urinal. read more
