The food was actually pretty good, Generally speaking. However The pancakes are not. The Belgium waffle is amazing. Hash browns were great. I usually ask for m bacon crispy and my scrambled eggs well done (not burned) with no problem everywhere else, however this place burned both. I wish they had more of a selection for hot drinks. This is the place we went to because Mama Kat's was super busy with a 45 minute wait that we just couldn't handle. It was busy in here but there were a few tables open to the point where they took us the minute we walked in. The food was delicious and very comforting. It was one of the better biscuits and gravy I've ever had. My bf got the Mexican scramble and he really loved it with the sourdough toast to plop on the good stuff. Overall, the food was good but the service needs some work. We waited 25 minutes for food and saw a lot of people who came in before us get their food first. Quality of food was not that great. Ordered biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were served cold with lukewarm gravy in top. Cold pre-packaged biscuits and canned gravy are not a good combination. Tried this place for the first time, the food seem delicious and the price is common, the service ( waiters and waitresses) are amazing for what I seen, they do their best from expediting their own food, seating down the guests and cashing them out. I saw two ladies in regular clothes, I'm not sure if they are the managers or the owners but they are the most useless people in the business, they do nothing to help, the restaurant was full, everyone doing their best and you got theses two just watching instead of helping, sometimes I did see them pour some water or two, one of them saw the food stack up on the counter, looked at the ticket and then just ask one of the servers to bag it up mean while the server had his hand full with dishes to take to the back. Useless people. The only reason they have a 2 star from me because of those two. read more

Rude owner reprimanded waitress for a simple mistake in front of full restaurant of people then proceeded to reprimand us for not noticing that we didn't get our side earlier in the meal. Owner nearly made her employee cry. We had finished eating and we were waiting to pay and asked for a refund for the missing food, she [owner] responded telling us that's not an option and proceeded to tell the cook to make them and that we can either "leave the food or eat it at home" instead. Felt like having some good breakfast this am so I opted Pegah's. Typically this is a good place to eat, but for some reason today wasn't the day. The pancakes were undercooked and my eggs were a bit soggy. Now for anyone who knows me, my eggs have to be cooked well done. My grandmother cooked them for me that way since I was a child. Father's Day breakfast was an OK experience. My parents chose this place since they're regulars and I opted to try it out for the first time. My go-to breakfast spot is Mama Kats so I was definitely going to compare the two. We arrived early morning around 9 am and got seated right away. The restaurant was more on the smaller side but still had plenty of seating. I'm a big fan of homey environments when it comes to breakfast. Pegah's had a beautiful set up and I was pleased with the dining experience. Now the food, I ordered the Veggie Omelette with a side of fruit and Rye Bread. To be completely honest..I rather pick Denny's veggie omelette over this one...not Mama Kat's but DENNY'S. A.The presentation wasn't pleasing at all. The fruit looked more presentable than the omelet (which was delicious), but unfortunately I wasn't a big fan of the omelet. B. $10 for a veggie omelet ?? Way too pricey. My favorite breakfast/lunch place in the area, hands down. It can get very busy here, but the staff are all so friendly. If there is any sort of wait for table, it is never too crazy long. The food here is the star. I've never had a bad meal here, whether it be some sort of breakfast plate, pancakes, french toast, or even a burger (the chili burger is my go-to). Everything is fresh and has that home-made thing going for it. It's also a very nice home-y comfortable environment. Looking forward to coming back, probably this weekend! read more

Had breakfast with my wife here this morning. From the reviews I read I was expecting more. First, I found their coffee to be weak. My wife ordered the egg Benedict and I got the country fried steak with eggs. Her eggs were overdone. Nice size on the English muffin. Both of use liked our hash browns were perfect. My steak was crispy but a bit too greasy. My biggest disappointment was their country gravy. I found it very bland. Not sure what it was lacking besides taste. Pegah's Kitchen has the best food bar none!! The word has finally gotten out how great this restaurant is. Weekends, especially Sundays, can be really busy. (Get there before church gets out ;-) Week days are easy to get in and get a fantastic breakfast or lunch. And do not use there coupons , we went there to and we had a coupons and the waiter told us to use the coupon (20% off the entire bill ) we had to have 2 beverages and we did, then we spit a lunch and after we eaten the waiter said we could not use the 20% off the entire meal coupon because we split a meal , no where on the counpon does it say we had to have 2 meals the waiter said he just assume that we would get 2 meals. We ordered the Spicy California Skillet and the Mission Omelette. The skillet was way more than I had anticipated but it was really good and filling. The only thing it had so many jalapeños! I am so sad to write this review, my family has been going here since it first opened in 1989, I grew up, got married and had babies of my own that grew up as this being our local diner. Still see the same manager, and the place has kept its classic style. What it has not kept however is decent food. We ordered heuvos rancheros, which was great but the beans were definently from a can and the rice it came with tasted like undercooked package of Spanish rice. My friend ordered the French toast with an egg over medium. Once again she said the French toast was good, but the egg was super runny. She wouldn't speak up to correct it so she just kind of poked at it. I never was offered a refill on my water, and I had to stand up to ask to get to go boxes. I felt like we just kind of disappeared from our waitresses mindset. I hate to do this, but I want to make you guys aware. I have enjoyed and looked forward to breakfasts here for some time now, skillets, french toast, waffles...the food was always decent and most of the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the restaurant has undergone changes recently: new name (Pegah's), new menu (no more cinnamon roll French toast) and some staff changes. The new atmosphere does not seem as welcoming, the food lacks quality, and if an issue arises, they seem more willing to give an excuse rather than provide the customer service you would likely expect from a family-style restaurant like this. The restaurant seems happy to spend dollars on advertising to gain your business but unwilling to address quality issues once you're there. I will most likely not return. read more

Kind of a let down after such glowing reviews. I ordered eggs benedict and asked for the muffin to be xtra crispy and the eggs to be poached firm. The muffins were done right, but the eggs were runny as can be. Gross. Plus, they use a packaged Hollandaise, which doesn't come close to how real Hollandaise tastes. We were so delighted to see that Pegah's just opened in Vista! We were in Vista for my son's wrestling tournament and wanted to grab a bite. While we were Yelping we drove by Pegah's and I said turn. We went in and found out they just opened on Monday. The restaurant looks great and of course they have the same great food and service that they have at their other two restaurants. My husband and I both had the French Toast Combo and it was delicious! Our server was friendly and very accommodating. The owner, Fred, even came by our table to see how everything was.
