The create- your-own-bowl is my favorite... pick your sauce, pick your protein, pick your side and there are so many combinations. I'm also a fan of the new bento boxes and poke bowls. Well - might as well throw my name in the mix for a bad review of this place. I agree that the food is marginal at best, but I was mostly blown away by the poor upkeep of the restaurant. Upon entering, I noticed immediately that the floor was sticky throughout the entire restaurant. You can see footprints trailing off in every direction. Seems like the restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. Even the entry door and bathroom door have a sticky feeling. I washed my hands three times before I touched the food, and I never allowed my utensils to touch the table. I laid them on a napkin. And yeah - the employees seem to have a low morale - both the young woman who took my order, and the woman who brought out the food. They weren't rude, or anything, just all of and indifferent. All around, this was not a great dining experience. I have eaten at Pei Wei in AZ several times and the food was great. So when l saw that there was one near me l was happy to go. I bought the orange white meat chicken and a sie of teriyaki noodles. Boy was l surprised when my meal arrived. There was a big dish of rice with maybe 10 little nugget things and slices of oranges. The white meat chicken was the same parts is parts chicken in a McDonald's chicken nugget but didn't taste as good. The noodles were dry and flavorless to say the least. Very disappointed with this awful $17 meal. I ended up throwing most of it in the trash. From now on l will eat at PANDA EXPRESS better food better price. read more

Oh my! I am never disappointed with Pei Wei. Ordered a pad thai, a mongolian chicken, curry, and a child's chicken and rice. They included free of charge a citrus chicken dish. I have been coming her every so often since it opened years ago. As time passes the customer service with providing timely meals and correct orders has gone down hill. I never get exactly what I ordered, and it's not like I'm asking for anything complicated or major modifications on a dish. Sauce on the side seems pretty simple to me! So last night I ordered online, where is actually gives you options to omit or modify with check boxes and created my 3 entrees. Upon arrival they had lost my order so I had to wait for them to figure it out and make my order. At that rate I might have well just dined in. Did I mention this isn't the first time they lost my order and I had to sit around waiting for them to fix it? This seems pretty basic to be capable of placing an order and filling it. And correctly for that note. For another frustration, this time I asked for sauce on the side for my dish so it wasn't swimming in sauce. They altogether forgot to give me sauce. Can you say BLAND? I could have made brown rice and steamed vegetables on my own. It's the sauce that makes it special. Next, I feel like there was half of a raw onion in the dish. I love sautéed/stir fried onions, but no one wants raw and barely warm onions (and this amount of them) in their dish. I was so annoyed because the onion was so strong in the raw form that I picked the pieces out. Once I started to pick them out I was shocked by the amount of the raw onions. We normally receive great service and great food at this location, but this time our sweet and sour chicken didn't taste like anything and when we ordered more sweet and sour sauce, it was watered down so you couldn't get the taste. The other thing we didn't like was that this location doesn't have any small portions anymore - as a seniors we just can't eat a normal portion - please brink them back! That was Thursday night, so we thought maybe the lunch will taste better the next day, but even the honey seared shrimp were dry and tasteless. The lady on the phone placed us on hold twice and as we pulled upp there was no on inside this location and I could barely hear her. They had all the chairs up, the lights were off, and the kitchen looked shut down. After taking our order... she told us 15 mins. 1 minute later got a call back telling us they were out of brown rice. Meaning they didn't want to cook. We will never go back here. I haven't tried any of the wok dinners, but we tried the sushi and chicken lettuce wraps when we were there. The food was good. Of course with sushi it was the standard 8 pieces, but as I looked around at other customer's plates it looked like portion sizes were pretty big! When you go in you have to wait in line to order your food and then you can get a table. It was dinnertime on a weekend when we went and so it was a little hard to find seating. The sushi is new on the menu and for a faster food place they were pretty good. The lettuce wraps were enough for 2 people. This place has gone DOWNHILL! I have had three bad experiences in a row - no more for me. The first one was when I tried to cancel a delivery order and got hung up on 4X's and no one would get a manager on the line. The 2nd was the worst dried out food you can imagined delivered to our office. The 3rd was when I arrived at 11:45 am and the place was dead (at lunchtime???) and I couldn't find anyone to wait on me. This place has gone severely downhill in the last couple of years. I think the management is just awful now. It seems like it's always short handed. Takes over 10 minutes for the phones to be picked up even when it's slow. The employees are up front running around doing everything they can, answering phones, trying to keep hungry customers calm. I asked to speak to a manager, they told me her name was Justice. I waited over 15 minutes before finally leaving. What a huge disappointment. I have been eating here for years but I will not be back. My husband and I went here for supper and both of our orders came out wrong. I ordered white rice and got fried, when I asked them to correct it they dumped my crunchy, cold bourbon chicken on some white rice which meant it was left with no sauce but still had remnants of the fried rice. You never know what to expect with a to-go order right? Anyway, the Hot & Sour Soup was quite honestly one of the best either one of us ever had tasted! In fact, I became sick the following day with a huge head and chest cold and literally begged my wife go back and pick me up 2 more buckets of their soup! It was just that comforting and delicious! I ordered the Mongolian with noodles and my wife ordered the Dynamite entrée with noodles. Both were great but the Dynamite wasn't much for spicy whatsoever. It was delicious, just not spicy at all. But, their Spring & Pork Egg Rolls with sweet dipping sauce were great! All in all, we'll both go back. We had the opportunity to have lunch here today. Our favorite is the Thai Basil Wanton soup, great as usual, A+. For our main course we tried their new Kale Quinoa Chicken Salad . Our first impression was the appearance was pleasing and the serving size was more than ample. After a dozen bites the salad became boring, we wanted it to have large pieces of chicken instead of shredded chicken, it got to be a task that we didn't finish. Maybe as a side dish in a smaller bowl it would be better. The general appearance of the restaurant was clean and seemed to be well run. So... I gave them one star because the food is edible, but only one because the place is filthy. We ordered a large plate to share and needed an extra plate. We got up to ask for one, and the server pointed us to where to get one for ourselves. The plates were dirty, and when my husband asked where we might find a clean plate, no lie, the waitress said "eh, sometimes they're clean, sometimes they're dirty. You just gotta dig through until you find one that's clean". Uh. No thanks. So my husband comes back empty handed. I go up to where they're cooking... one guy (might be a supervisor... he was young, but wearing a button down shirt) who's doing NOTHING but chatting with the cook... I let him know all their plates are dirty and ask him for a clean one... he hands me a plate from the line (you know... the plates they put the food on)... no apology, just keeps chatting... that plate's dirty too, so I told him that plate was dirty... he takes it from me, inspects it, puts it down (probably to be used again later), hands me another one and keeps talking. Last time we were in, the silverware was dirty, and the five times before, they were out of napkins... one of those times, they'd brought out the bathroom paper towels. Ew. We won't be back. I have visited this Pei Wei a few times in the past and enjoyed it, however it seems to have gone downhill. There were at least 5 tables that stayed dirty the entire time we were there for dinner, and the floors had numerous spots that had spills, I'm surprised someone didn't slip and fall. The soda fountain area was worse, there were pouches of Coca Cola syrup for the machine just laying out, no lemons, no napkins, and the whole area had spills. The food was mediocre at best, i had the chicken salad and the lettuce did not seem fresh. The sushi roll pieces were tiny and seemed like they were made the day before and refrigerated or something, they just didn't seem fresh, the rice almost seemed soggy. This use to be one of my favorite places. Great food, good portions, fair prices and excellent customer service all use to things you could expect from Pei Wei. Now that the portions have shrunk WHILE raising prices and customer service is no longer a priority all this place has is good food quality. I use to eat Pei Wei at least once a month for both dine in and take out. Over the past year disappointing visits have made me not go as often. Now after the last visit I think I need a break from Pei Wei for awhile. If you like over priced rice and don't care if staff are friendly then Pei Wei is the perfect place for you. read more
