Okay the teas here are delicious. They let you sample any tea before purchasing. The reason I'm taking away a star is because the service is terrible. They need a more efficient way for the order process. It's crazy that I waited over an hour for a tea (not even kidding about that). It took 25 minutes just to order. The gold standard for milk tea, not just in the Bay Area, but nationwide. I usually get a custom milk tea whenever I go here; there are plenty of options for flavors and toppings. (Do note that the custom tea options are no longer listed on the on-screen menus, but is still offered as an option if you ask the cashier for one.) It is really nice that the actual tea flavor remains intact most of the time and isn't drowned out by the sweetness of the secondary flavorings (which I've noticed happens a lot at other milk tea places), which makes it a winner in my book. The Sea Salt Crema is delectably creamy with a mild saltness that complements the teas well. However, on my most recent visit here, I decided to get the Yellow Mango ($5.50). The mild tanginess and sweetness of the mango flavor definitely shines through, but as stated before, the mango flavor does not completely drown out the tea flavor. The mango stars have a nice chewiness and sweetness that accompanies the tea well. This place does have a trendy vibe to it that does cater to the younger population. My usual drink for Pekoe is their Pekoe Special which is Earl Grey Milk Tea with Honey Boba and Grass Jelly. It's located between Aborn/White Rd in the plaza with Lucky's supermarket, in that small little corner next to Lee's Sandwiches. Although it's small, it's interior looks like a mini bar. Very limited indoor seatings, some bar stools at the counter where you place your order for your drinks. What I like about Pekoe is that it's actually a place that my mother likes out of all the many boba places we've tried. She keeps wanting more and more of their Angela drink, which is more tea based and herb-like that's not my taste. I've tried the Foxy Brown and thought it was a bit too sweet, but you can have your drink customized to your liking. Pekoe draws out from many other boba places from their unoriginal drinks they offer. They create their own special drinks that differentiates them from other boba places. I've also tried MK Twist and it wasn't my preference in fruity tea drinks. Their customer service is always warm, friendly and welcoming. They remember my name and well as how my mom likes her Angela drink. They're very kind on helping my mom out since she's more comfortable speaking Vietnamese. Oh and they take cash via Square without those annoying additional fee charges! Why did I end up rating Pekoe as 4 stars? Their drinks aren't always readily available and it's tough when your mother wants her Angela, a fraction of the time they're sold out. They were courteous to find alternatives but it wasn't the same for my mom. Came here to try it and see what the hype was all about. Honestly, this is just any other tea place. I could have gone to another one and saved my self a whole lot of time. I waited in line for 30 minutes and another 45 minutes for my drink. I wanted to leave but I had already waited for so long, I might as well just wait for my drink. The drinks aren't even that special. I got a Manly Melons and it was good but not worth the wait. It's such a small place too. I get that people might like it cause of the ambiance but that little space can only fit so many people. If you want to casually just get a drink, go to any other tea place. First of all, so glad to have a new good boba place so close to home, and that's not located in that plaza on Silver Creek!! We've seen the grand opening sign for so long, and nice to finally see it open! They have their own signature menu (and you can have the usual milk tea or jasmine milk tea as a custom order). Our first visit was a good experience because they were nice enough to provide us samples of their different signature drinks. We surprised to find their tea tastes fresh and tasty with the different flavors! I recommend the Pekoe Special to try first, and the Baked Apple Pie really tastes like baked apple pie. Pekoe! Where do I even start? I'm here literally almost every day enjoying different drinks. With all the milk tea shops opening up in SJ, this one has definitely done it right and exceeding all expectations. The ambience of this shop is relaxed and different from others. They're one of the few that has a club vibe and actually plays music videos. Decoration: As soon as you pull up, you can tell right off the back that the owners took their time and invested a lot of thought and time into this place. The interior design is amazing compared to other boring shops. It's classy and stylish. Customer service: The cashier always greets every person who comes in and out of the store, it's great that they acknowledge you. I've been turned off by this palce because of its long lines and because I thought it was too overhyped Turns out, it's totally worth it.I came here on a Friday afternoon so it was quite vacant. I got the pretty in pink drink, which comes with the tapioca pearls and strawberry heart-shaped jellies. I got it with 25% sweetness and you can really taste the tea. They also list how they use real tea leaves and cane sugar, not HFCS and powder mixes. The strawberry jellies were chewy, slightly sweet, and complimented the honey boba. The drink wasn't too sweet, but sweet enough to get the flavor. Love the customer service here. To be honest, I was afraid of approaching he baristas, but they are so kind and friendly. I was looking at the menu and they smiled and asked me if I needed anything. They also have lots of delicious options and even one to make your own. My top faves on the menu is the Angela and Let's get high. I'm a timid little pig, so I'm not usually open to trying new things on the menu. But I have tried numerous drinks here and they were all very tasty! Their split cup option also makes it very convenient for those who want to try more than one drink on the menu, or for the indecisive individuals out there like myself. The place definitely has a vibe - with the dark interior, loud EDM, and furniture that seems to belong at a club. It's like a club/rave for high schoolers. As far as the drinks go, they cost $4.50 each and if you get the split cup to get 2 different drinks then it's $6. I was told "Manly Melons" and "Yellow Mango" were popular so I ordered those 2 in a split cup. The pre-made drinks here also all come with their own toppings, so you don't need to pay extra for those. I liked the Manly Melons flavor, it was pretty tasty. The aloe vera was nice to chew on. The Yellow Mango flavor was okay. It didn't really stand out to me or taste especially great. I'd order something else next time. The split cup is convenient if you can't make a decision and want a variety, but you do get a little less liquid in it because of the gap in between the two sides. East side's come a long way in terms of dessert and drink options nearby, and Pekoe's become one of the most popular spots. Boyfriend and I ordered the GOLDEN LYCHEE and LIFE'S A PEACH. All drinks are $4. Personally.. The teas are a bit more earthy for my taste. Don't like the lychee in my golden lychee tea nor do I like their unique white boba in the life's a peach. Black walls and black curtains with white cushion couch seats and stools and even matching cusion for underneath the bar. They have huge cute light bulbs hanging in clusters as chandeliers inside. I like how this place looks like an actually tea BAR because of the bar with stools. It's a small store so expect to be a bit cluster phobic but makes waiting for a quick drink to go easy. Seats everywhere. Here at 8PM on a Sunday and there's still a crowd here. Filled house but no line. The menu are all displayed on huge screens giving it a modern look. There's a huge TV on the side for people to play video games. Currently have a Halloween theme going on. Webs everywhere. This place is incredibly popular, so expect long lines from time to time. I was so surprised to find a line out the door on a weekday at 11pm! The menu television screens were not working but they were still cranking out those drinks super fast! I really like Foxy Brown, as well as their Earl Grey milk tea drinks. The milk tea is really good - you get to adjust the tea strength level and add in whatever flavors you'd like. I personally like getting a jasmine milk tea with pearls, but the Foxy Brown and Let's Get High were good as well (I don't think the second one is on the menu atm). Meh. My boyfriend and I stopped by for some boba last night after going to Christmas in the Park. There are a ton of boba places to go to in San Jose but I chose Pekoe because I've had it bookmarked for a while now and I've heard really good things about this place so naturally I had to get my boyfriend to take me. Pekoe is located in a plaza so there's pretty much parking everywhere. It's located on the corner so just keep your eyes peeled for the name. The inside is a bit confusing. My boyfriend's first thought was if this place was suppose to be a night club or something. The space isn't super big once all the couches are filled and there were a ton of people just standing around waiting for their drinks making it difficult to figure out who was in line and who wasn't. Eventually the cashier came up and said she could help me so I quickly glanced over the menu, avoiding any drinks with fruits that my boyfriend could be allergic to, and finally chose their golden lychee drink. There are comments saying you could adjust the sweetness or what not, but I didn't do anything with mine. I paid the cashier and waited. Honestly, it's really loud in here. Like ridiculously loud. Like if I wasn't standing by where the drinks came out then how would I be able to hear the person call my name loud. The drink ended up taking about 10 mins to come out and when I finally got it I was pretty excited. It looked good and was filled with a lot of lychee jelly so I was pumped to try it. First sip... oh. It's slightly bitter. And the real only lychee flavor comes from the lychee jelly. My boyfriend said it was an okay drink, but honestly I feel like it could've been made better. This review has been a long time coming. It's taken me about 3-4 visits to finally write this review. I usually opt for other tea shops whenever I'm craving for a drink. And yes, I will take that extra step and drive out to Tpumps if I really have to, even if I live within 3 miles of Pekoe. Reason being is because 1) their lines are crazy! And 2) I haven't actually found my go-to drink until today's visit. On my first visit, I ordered the Thai Me Up which is basically a Thai tea with their special creme. I really enjoyed that drink until it disappeared from the menu. When I went back today, I tried two drinks in their new split cup!! That cup is honestly everything for indecisive people like me. I tried the Sweet Geezus (strawberry & coconut milk tea with taro pudding) & the Pretty in Pink (strawberry milk tea with their special creme & pink stars + boba) and both drinks were sooooo good. I chose off their specials because I didn't see any tea flavors that stood out to me and let's be real, I'm a little lazy when it comes to choosing up to 4 flavors + a tea + toppings. I'm basic. I'll choose what I'm normally used to like a good almond milk tea (only Tpumps makes that perfectly for my taste) or a Thai tea, but these two drinks blew me away! Pekoe has always been my favorite boba place because of course their variety of drinks and friendly staff. However, today, I received quite an unprofessional customer service. The guy who took my order seemed annoyed when I called attention since no one was in the cashier. When my order came, I realized he did not give me straws, so I asked. He took the straws and kunda just pushed them hardly to slide on the table instead of handing them like how the others do. Pretty glad I was able to give this place another try, especially since on my first visit, my drink (which was the Golden Lychee) was way too sweet, and they gave me a real small serving of boba. Almost looks like a little turd in my picture, come to think of it! Recently, I came here with my cousins and got the same drink, but with 30% sweetness and w/ their white boba since their regular boba wasn't ready yet. This definitely made a huge difference, and actually tasted like tea, instead of straight sugar from my first visit. I know this place just opened so i will have to update my review. Venue: The place is really cute. Whoever did their interior design, props to them. Only thing is, i hope you have a good cleaner for the white sofas because customers can be dirty. The menus are all digital and really easy to follow. Service: The girl at the register was really quick and knew the menu well. If you have any questions, she definitely could answer them for you. I just didnt like the fact that i felt like i was raising my voice a little louder than usual because the music was a little loud. Also, what does "Truffle butter on your pu**y" mean?? Irrelevant? I think not! maybe a screening of the music would be nice, since this is not a 18 and up tea bar and minors will always be present. I have a 2 year old and i don't use that kind of language around her, I am sure other loving parents wouldn't either. Tea: I ordered the Pekoes special. It was really good! I enjoyed it! Boba had excellent texture and i can really taste the tea. I used to not like earl grey tea because other places it was too strong, but here its just right! I highly suggest it. So I've been here in person a few times when I lived over by Evergreen, but now I mostly order online for delivery through DoorDash or UberEats since I'm a little further away. We once stopped by late on a weeknight and I used to joke that this place is like a "boba nightclub" because it was dark, packed with people, and had loud music playing. This is one of my top favorite boba spots, I love that they have a larger selection of boba/toppings than most places, namely strawberry hearts which are my boyfriend's favorite. I order from here occasionally and they're always very consistent. My go to order is either Raspberry Beret or Southern Peach; my boyfriend always gets Pretty In Pink. Minus 1 star because of some flies, and the place was too crowded. Besides these minuses. Great milk tea! I loved that you can try 2 different drinks in 1 cup. They kinda split the cup in half so you could enjoy 2 flavors. I had the manly melon (melon tea with white boba) and foxy brown (probably brown sugar milk tea with boba), and both had just the right sweetness even without ice. The boba was good. They were soft, chewy and didn't stick together like lots of other places. read more
