The menu is fairly simple, waffle, panini, toast options, coffee and tea. So if you're craving any of those things - you'll surely satisfy that craving here! You order at the cash register and receive a number to place on your table. The service has always been very friendly and quick. It's a nice place to visit for a quick lunch and I feel comfortable enough in here to sit and work from my laptop.

Linguica Womelette with spinach and a Greek iced coffee

What do you do when you like the food, the people are friendly and yet they have a sign on the wall with a lower mandate listed than on the receipt? 5 stars for customer service 3.5-4 for the food and coffee 1 for the inaccurate signage I will give that a two star average. Pros: The Womelette was an interesting take on a waffle and omelette combo. The linguica was flavorful and there was a nice, crispy layer. It's not low carb due to the tater tots but it's definitely lighter than a traditional waffle and I appreciate that. The iced Greek coffee was good as well. I'm glad I asked for a copy of the receipt (shout out to the helper that mentioned the mandate). I saw a note on the wall about it so I was glad to see it was posted. However, 6% is posted and 7% is what was charged. One percent, not a big deal right? It's the same way I would feel if a lower price for an item was listed on a menu than what I was charged- unacceptable. Two options- lower the higher than average mandate the was actually charged or update your sign to reflect what you are actually charging.

Had a meeting at google and this shop was right outside on the street - what a cute coffee shop! I got the berry lattte and it was delicious - they were fast and friendly.

Came here with my boyfriend to work and such a great place! Good: - Easy ordering, nice staff with great recs - The coffee is so good! I liked the mocha - The Womlette's were so unique - we had the apple sausage and bacon one - the unique part is that the meat is baked into the waffle itself - There are outlets and plentiful seating - so it was a great place to be working from and felt like a really calming location so the ambiance was good for focus time Bad: -No bathroom that I found Overall stayed for hours here and would have longer if there was a bathroom inside too!

Over price food! Ordered a breakfast burrito $10 but it look more like a children baby burrito.... Come on!!!

Stopped in for a quick cup of coffee on a weekend and got the medium roast drip coffee which really hit the spot. Much needed before a walk around the Embarcadero. Service is fast and efficient and we were happy to have found a coffee shop open early morning in an otherwise residential area.

penelope's is a pretty large cafe with plenty of seating. they offer a bunch of specialty drinks and food. we ordered their signature meat lovers womelette (waffle omelette) ($14.95)--the texture was interesting as it's a soft waffle with breakfast ingredients inside. it tasted good but I like a bit of crunch in my waffle. we also got the chicken apple sausage breakfast burrito ($9.95) which was not very special, and the penelope's samoas latte ($6.95)--even half-sweet was too sweet, and it tasted more mocha than coconuty. but overall I liked trying these unique dishes!

My turkey panini but without the salad that it's come with for years, even though the price has not changed. Surprise!

The food is decent, the wait isn't long, and the storefront has decent ambiance and is clean. However, the owners and/or managers don't seem to be the most scrupulous, at least in my experience (but I've been coming here at least twice a month ever since they opened due to office proximity). 1. The SF Health Mandate has restaurants charging customers a fee of their own discretion for the healthcare of their employees (ostensibly). Some restaurants are upfront about this charge and the amount. Penelope's not only is not upfront about this, but they also assess a higher than average fee. I haven't backed into the math, but I remember getting sticker shock many a time when my final bill came out so much higher than the subtotal of my items, plus tax, with no notice whatsoever. I'm not even sure why it's legal for restaurants to assess you a charge without telling you how much it's going to be before you order, but I can't fault Penelope's for violating the law because the law says restaurants can do pretty much whatever the heck they want with this fee. There's a difference between what is legal and what the right thing to do by your customers is, though. 2. Most recently, Penelope's engaged in a sleight of hand with shrinkflation. I'd been ordering the turkey panini for years, and it always came with a salad. Last week, I ordered the same to go--the menu and price were the same, after all--but was surprised to be missing a salad. I thought it was a mistake, so I called to ask for my salad, only to be told that the owners had decided to cut the salad from the item but had not bothered to indicate as such anywhere on the menu or the website for folks who'd been ordering this item for a long time. You can still have salad, but you must pay extra. The associate claimed inflation, which I'm confused because according to the Fed and Consumer Price Index in April and May, inflation has been lower than expected and at its lowest rate since February 2021. Nor can the restaurant blame the tariffs because I'm pretty sure my turkey, bacon and bread did not get imported from China or another tariffed country. I was willing to overlook the health mandate fee in isolation, but the kind of changes the restaurant seems to be making under the auspices of inflation that isn't happening is the last straw. There are too many other honest businesses that would have at least given notice of the change, for example, even if they did remove the salad without cutting the price. I can't be bothered to patronize a business whose owners can't be bothered to be honest with their customers.

Service is grand! I think the food is mediocre. The burrito iwrapping taste and feel stale. I got the meat one. It's ultra cheesy and at $8 o expert more but it is clean inside which I give it a bump in rating. Thasuve for the burrito is like ranch chipotle it's ok The London fog is ight. Wish I got a chocolate croissant instead. But I know I'd be back! It's convenient in my area.

New local favorite Penelope's Coffee and Tea is a block from my office, but I had not stopped by until today when a colleague suggested we share a burrito. He had been there and knew what he wanted to order. I do not remember the name of the burrito, but it had eggs and sausage in it and came with a spicey and delicious sauce on the side. While they were preparing our order, I scanned the coffee menu and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options. Their Brazilian Amber caught my eye, and made a mental note to return for a cup at my earliest convenience. I will let you all know what I think of Brazilian Amber, but let me tell you that the burrito was delicious!   Penelope's Coffee and Tea is a block from my office, but I had never stopped by. The tables and chairs were clean and well-maintained, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The employees were also friendly and helpful, and they made sure that we had everything we needed. I'm glad I finally made it to Penelope's. It's a great spot for a quick and tasty breakfast or lunch. And if you're looking for a good cup of coffee, they've got you covered.

A new café option in the FiDi that isn't Starbucks or Peets. Huge coffee drink menu and some made-to-order food items. Appreciate the ample seating and chill vibe. Meat Lover's Womelette: No, a womelette is not a baby wombat! It's an egg omelet cooked in a waffle iron with bacon, ham, cheese and tater tots. A creative way for a tiny little café to offer all day breakfast. I think I like this more than a regular omelet since there's a lot of more crispy surface area. Pairing with some sourdough toast was nice. Though felt like it could use a little more food since I was still a tad hungry afterwards. Tella Cream Waffle: Sometimes you just want breakfast-for-lunch and sometimes that breakfast just happens to be covered in Nutella, ice cream and whipped cream! Despite all that, it wasn't overly sweet. The thin drizzles of Nutella were just right to accent the fluffy fresh out of the waffle iron waffle. The ice cream was solidly frozen, so didn't melt all over the place. Pretty filling, so I don't know how people could eat a proper meal *and* then have this for dessert; glad it was my only dish! Penelope's Samoas: I love sweet coffee drinks and this was definitely sweet! Had a nice caramel and chocolate and coconut flavor, like the eponymous cookie. The toasted coconut shreds on top of the whipped cream was nice a touch, though it became weird texture when drinking it after they sank. Appreciate the creativity.

We shared a pacific omlet--not much crab, lots of shrimp, and nice swiss cheese/scallions but tasted kind of fishy--potatoes were only avg. Son said huevos rancheros were average. Price point good for SF and portions adequate to share. Location convenient so we will try dinner there tonight before a comedy show nearby. Single Waitress was great-we let her know we needed to leave in about an hour for a show and she timed everything perfectly--we even had time for dessert. we ordered so many items that she brought over an extra table--we shared everything family style. Most Yelp reviews only mention brunch but the dinner was awesome--service; food: taste/quality, presentation, portions, prices we phenomenally low for SF ($200 with a bottle of wine for 4 people). We started with the garlic butter clams-small but tasty. Tuna tartar was excellent quality and enough to share. Samosas were more like empanadas--very good with peanut sauce so good it rivaled my own home made. We continued our culinary adventure with crab fried rice-delicious, a large portion and my son who lives in SF and has tried dozens of crab fried rice ranked it in the top tier. The pacific catch rice noodles with crab was also excellent-big portion, lots of crab, tasty. Final entree was their specialty-Mussaman Curry. Wow, tender meat/potatoe "stew" with a very unique flavor from the star anise/cinnamon and peanut--to die for. Creme Brulee was very good with lots of fresh fruit accompaniment My only complaint was a very limited wine selection. Lapisaia will become one of our regular spots for dinner!!!

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating (with blankets for the latter on chilly days, which is much appreciated). The service is friendly and efficient, and the food comes out pretty quickly. Definitely worth a visit. I personally would never wait for longer than 30-40 minutes, but I would say the same for most restaurants.

We arrived at Plow around 1pm on a Sunday, and the wait was about an hour. The first available…read moretable was in the parklet, so we opted to sit outside. We ordered two Plow plates -- one with the house-made pork sausage and the other with the chicken apple sausage. We also swapped the lemon ricotta pancakes on one of the plates for the almond flour pancakes so we could try both. Everything was well executed. The potatoes were nicely cooked with plenty of crispy pieces, and the eggs came out exactly as we requested. Both sausages were flavorful, although we both slightly preferred the chicken apple sausage. The pancakes were the only part of the meal that didn't quite win us over. The texture was softer and mushier than we expected. We were hoping for something a bit lighter and cakier. Between the two, my boyfriend preferred the almond flour pancakes. Overall, I think Plow is worth trying, but it's not a place I'm in a rush to return to.
