Great old fashioned diner breakfast. Service was excellent food was good as well. Had the bone in ham steak with eggs over medium with the biscuits no gravy. Excellent although my potatoes were ok and not as tender as they should have been but all right. In hindsight I should have had the hash browns. We also ordered the Strawberry Blueberry waffle with whip cream and powdered sugar. This was off the chain and outstanding. Definitely a must stop in Temecula. read more

Have eaten here many times...always breakfast. Have never been disappointed personally and, judging from comments, neither have the folks in our parties. Service can be a little slow when crowded, and parking can be problematic, but we'll worth the wait. Food is always good. Can definitely recommend this local cafe. read more

This was my first time coming here and I've got to say, I won't be coming back! My party and I sat there unattended for at least 30 minutes, someone finally took our drink order but then never came back to take our food order. We finally started talking amongst ourselves about how long we had been waiting and one of the waitresses heard us, so she came to take our order. One of the people in my party is allergic to eggs so he asked to substitute the eggs for something else but the waitress said no. We asked if there was any way to make an exception because of the food allergy and the waitress asked the manager, but she was very rude and said no. Why should he have to pay for something that he can't eat? We canceled the order and asked for our check gor 4 drinks, our tab was $18 for 4 orange juice, are you serious? Friday Oct 09, 2015 was the second visit to Penfold's. Very cute little Restaurant with suprising ambiance.Tucked away in a little strip mall, RIGHT OFF THE EXIT, and good parking. The first visit was good. Each of us had a different burger etc. Made the trip from Escondido, a halfway point for me to meet with friends that live in the 'Desert'. I must say the food this time was a disappointment. I had the Cobb Salad. It had a lot of good stuff on it, but the iceberg lettuce seemed to be grated (like cabbage for slaw) It would be much improved if they used a Spriing Mix, for the price. Difficult to get it onto the fork, and the tiny pieces of lettuce kept getting stuck in my throat. I ate less than half. I did not complain, as it took so long to get it, and did not want to make waves with friends Although,. My friends were not so pleased either. One had the chicken wrap. It was big and looked good, but she said that it was mostly veggies; only a few pieces of chicken. Very bland .. She left the second half behind. We decided to have coffee and a bear-claw... Very stale...At that point, I did mention the claw to the waitress. She picked it up and said "Oh IT IS STALE" Their specialty IS their bakery Love the home feeling and décor, but will try another restaurant on our next get-together. read more

Cute kitschy but tired decor and friendly crew (though our server was overly chatty which slowed her down). But the food -Blech!!! I am super disappointed. What might have been healthy kale chicken salad was absolutely DROWNING in dressing. It had 1/2 to 3/4 cup of dressing on it. No exaggeration. The server eventually offered to have it re-made, but I didn't want to wait while my hubby's breakfast got cold. His eggs looked perfectly cooked but the potatoes were both under cooked (hard) and burned, his entire plate overly salted. You'd think they might discount the bill a mite, but no, the server just loudly exclaimed how she showed the cook how overly dressed the salad was, but they didn't respond. I scraped and ate the chicken, tried to wash off some kale, and we left, wanting to get out of there quickly, and not come back. I decided to try this place because it's always so busy when I drive by. I have to say I was not disappointed one bit. I walked in and felt so welcomed. It was a nice, warm feeling. The customer service was on point and the veggie omelette I ordered was bomb.com. They also have a little section with candy and toys. When I was sitting waiting I noticed their bakery section. They had gigantic cookies, cinnamon rolls, and rice crispy treats all each under $5. I will be back to try other plates that's for sure! read more

Today only I am giving penfolds this 2 star rating. We come here often for breakfast on Sundays and will continue to do so however my review is on one of the greeter/cashiers, LINDSAY. Today there were three gals at this station. When i approached to put our name in the list she seemed irritated that I interrupted her conversation with her co-worker. Not that it was a problem but I had to as what the wait times were for both the patio and inside. She smuggly stated 20 minutes for both and tossed the coaster call device at me. As I waited and watched the interactions of her compared to her co- workers it was amazing the difference. As she stood leaning against the counter yawning, the others greeted customers with a smile, put there name on the list, explained the wait, etc. Lindsay just hanging out collecting a paycheck! Take note penfolds, you have a great business and good food, educate this gal on the level of friendly custoner service you're customers have come to known. read more

This place was AMAZING! 7/25/12 was my first time ever visiting Penfold's. My husband came here many years ago with his father and ever since he passed (18 or so years ago) he hasn't been back until now. And its just as he remembers it. Their portions are HUGE so SPLIT A PLATE. All together we ordered cinnabun french toast, The Mess, biscuits and gravy, a child's meals (eggs, pancakes, and a side of fruit. We didn't even have room for dessert! In fact, we ended up taking home leftovers of EVERYTHING except the pancakes. Their fruit sides came with full slices of honeydew melon, cantaloupe, watermelon, and oranges. I couldn't believe my eyes. Anytime I get a side of fruit from a restaurant it's usually a little bowl with a tiny bit of fruit but not this place. They sure do know how to take care of their customers. Our waitress (Shakira) was very friendly and very helpful. We also got to meet the owner who hung out with us after hours. We will definitely be coming back here. We went on a weekend. It was loud, dirty, we waited a long time, and the food was mediocre. The service wasn't great. Our glasses were empty more than not and she even brought our check during the meal. I guess they wanted to get rid of us! I was hoping for dessert. Guess not! This bakery café is adorable. The décor is a bit dated, but the kids will love it. Food is reasonably priced, the cinnamon bun French toast is huge and worth every penny. Great little bacon-related items for purchase by the register. Service was okay, bathrooms weren't great. But this little diner is clean and just what we needed for a wine hangover. read more

Makes you feel at home. I was raised in the country and I love southern food and southern portions for a not so heavy price. This place is so well priced and the food was so well done I thought I was back home. Order the breakfast burrito and buscuits and gravy. Though the buscuits and gravy are not as good as my home made ones the portions of everything, the taste, and the price you can not beat. I can get busy in the morning but they seat you fast. I like to sit outside. My client, a celebrity, like me to take her there because she gets full and feels warmly welcomed. We also like to look at the overly sized and amazing baked goods. Huge Krispy Treats and Massive Cinnamon rolls, though her manager would kill me if I let me client eat one of those we like the atmosphere and mini store. read more

We were seated by a friendly hostess then immediately greeted by our waitress. We ordered a bunch of different stuff and just shared it all. My first bad experience here. Promptly seated by a hostess on the patio. Then sat for a full 10 minutes without any contact from a server or other employee. During that time two servers brought food to the other table on the patio but did not acknowledge me at all. Can't even call it poor service, it was flat out NO service. We came here with family and enjoyed the quick service. Unfortunately when you order their 9$ mimosas and ask for only a little orange juice in your mimosa, they reveal how much champagne they actual use. There was only 1/4 of the carafe filled. You pretty much pay for a 9$ orange juice. They waitress also had to have manager do it because they have a strict rule as to how much they can use. read more

Went here yesterday and we were very disappointed. Not only is it expensive, they serve low quality food, the service is horrible and the eggs were served cold. I ordered eggs and bacon with biscuits and gravy. My eggs were served cold as well as cold bacon. The gravy tasted like paste with tons of pepper. Carly was our server and she appeared to be in a bad mood, because she did not say more than 5 words to us the whole time we were there. I noticed by the kitchen window area several meals were up and one of Carlys stayed there in the window for 15 minutes......that is why my eggs were cold......I also noticed by the soda machine there were 4 wait staff in a huddle drinking soda and having a extended conversation. I went to the counter to pay my bill and I explained the food was served cold and the only response I got was NOTHING. Not I'm sorry...we'll look into it ...just no response! It appears there is no management concerned about customer service...COLD food being served.is okay..that is probably why it is allowed to happen. No one really cares. We will never go back. Denny's is better than this place because at Denny's you get better valve for your money and HOT FOOD! read more
