The place is in a small dumpy small mall. The front is nothing special. You walk in and it seems dark and a little dirty and dumpy. Like bright and clean. The menu was a little for everyone. The man took our order. I watched him use a touchscreen to place our orders and they proceed to hand the lunch meat to throw it on the grill. I almost canceled my order but Inwas hungry. The Rueben seemed to have twice as much sauerkraut on it as corned beef. Because of it I tasted more sauerkraut then 1000 island or corned beef. My wife got a turkey sandwich. Pretty much the same. Skimpy on the turkey. The fries were good and plentiful. The sub bread was good. It was toast and I enjoyed. I won't be back. read more

I love love love penn station's chicken cordon blue sandwich (small is 6", regular is 9" ans large is 12"). I order the regular with extra tomato!! their cookies are one of the best you can possible eat! I also recommend their lemonade!! This combo is my go to!! Stopped by Penn Station for a quick lunch. I haven't been here in quite some time but the food never disappoints! We each got a grilled sandwich, freshly made lemonade, and shared fresh cut fries and cookie. The lemonade is freshly pressed behind the counter and fries are hand cut/ made to order. Don't skip the cookie as it's the perfect sweet treat! Staff were very friendly with ordering, check out, brining our food. Sandwich sizes are 6" for a small. My only reason for the not perfect rating was the ketchup dispenser was almost out, I grabbed the last few napkins available, and the table hadn't been cleaned prior to us sitting down. We were on our way back home from a long day at the zoo and my brother and sister-in-law recommended stopping by here for a quick and early dinner. They said that they come here whenever they're in the area and really enjoy the bread they use and the fresh fries. Considering that I'd recently spent a weekend in the great land of cheesesteaks out east and that they are both pretty picky eaters I didn't expect much but after having a delicious cheesesteak I have to second their endorsement. I've probably passed by this location hundreds of times but it never really caught my attention as it's in a pretty nondescript strip mall off of Butterfield Rd. The restaurant is fairly bare-bones in their setup. A nice sized dining room with plenty of tables and some booths and a big tv for broadcasting sports games. You order at the front and then move to the back to pay. All of the staff were very nice. They have bottles of Heinz Malt Vinegar next to the fountain machine and apparently many people are fans of their lemonade so I'd like to give that a try at some point. Got a small (seemed like a 6") cheesesteak with provolone and everything on white bread (they offer several types of cheese and have multigrain bread too). The cheesesteak comes with sautéed onions, mushrooms, grilled banana peppers, spicy brown mustard, mayo, and pizza sauce which I was hesitant about but I'm glad I went with their standard toppings as it tasted great! The white bread they use has a good chew to it and toasts really well and the sandwich had big chunks of chopped and seasoned steak covered with a juicy and perfectly melted heap of provolone along with plenty of those delicious toppings. I got a small order of their fresh made fries which also tasted perfect and a fountain drink for a total of about $13. They don't have any combo meals unless you're ordering their monthly special which is the chicken Philly for this October. The small cheesesteak was more than enough for me but my brother who tends to have a bigger appetite ordered the regular size and that looked formidable enough but they also have a large and snack size. My sister-in-law got her usual chicken teriyaki sandwich and that also looked really tasty. If you're looking for a cheesesteak/Dagwood/deli sub place that is a step above the usual chain shops for a reasonable price I would totally recommend taking a trip to Penn Station. read more

I wasn't expecting gourmet beef here but the meat just wasn't seasoned in anything. The traditional cheesesteak I ordered was smothered in a provolone cheesy and greasy mess, but the beef was flavorless. If not for the banana peppers and mustard, there was no indication of anything salty or savory in this bland attempt at east coast sandwich cuisine. The tastes fresh & has a unique savory bite & is soft & absorbent for the melted cheese & juicy meats! The meat to bread ratio was great, & the inside of the bread was flavorful, while the outside had a nice firm bite to it. * I got two 8 in subs i they were perfect to eat half of each I save the rest for later! My husband is from Boston, and always raves about New England's grinders, and how we don't have any good ones in IL. That is, until we tried Penn Station. The rolls are perfect. The meat and cheese are perfect. And the chocolate chip cookie - perfect. It's not close enough to home to get it often, but our hairstylist is in the strip mall next door, so we always make sure to get it for dinner when we're getting our hair done. These sandwiches are 100x better than Quizno's, Jersey Mike's or any other Philly cheesesteak you'll find elsewhere. Oh, and the fries are fresh cut and fried each order. They are delicious. Every time I have ordered penn station the food has been delicious! I am unfortunately knocking a star down due to the slowness. Every time I'm there it takes them 40+ minutes to make my sandwich. I had a penn station near me when I lived in Michigan and they would take 10 minutes max to make the food even when they were busy! I hope they can get more organized because I love this place! I've had the cheesesteak which is my current favorite, the Italian is also delicious and so is the teriyaki chicken! Highly recommend if you don't mind the wait. read more

I tried your subs for the first time today. The fries were ok, but my sandwich was Horrible! It was one of the worst sandwiches I have ever tried to eat in my LIFE! I paid 9 dollars - I got 2 bites and into the trash. Disgusting, it tasted of feet, and was drenched almost drowned in honey mustard. Honey mustard does not belong on a Club, but I gave it a whirl. While a lot of my friends and family have always been into fast food burgers, I've always been the girl hanging out at the sandwich shop. I think it says a lot about me - that I'm not scared to go against the crowd and do my own thing or maybe it psychologically says absolutely nothing about me other than the fact that I like my protein and veggies between two pieces of bread. Either way, I live to find new sandwich shops around work, so I was glad when my husband (Michael C.) found this place without me a few weeks ago. He hyped it up quite a bit so I knew it would only be a matter of time before we checked it out. Even though the Reuben and Philly Cheese are the most raved about, I decided to go against the crowd once again and go for the Chicken Teriyaki. I don't really know WHY I ordered that, as I'm more of a roast beef kinda girl, but I figured I'd try something new. Their sandwiches are the toasted kind, which always makes everything taste better. I really liked the sauce they put on there and the add-on sauteed mushrooms and onions were a perfect combination to the moist deliciousness that was the chicken. The only thing I thought was that it could use some lettuce to up the flavor and textures. If I ever ordered it again, I would ask for them to throw some lettuce on after the toasting process. This time around, he ordered the chicken cordon bleu, which is another fave of mine at most sandwich shops. Sadly, the chicken was just some grilled chicken with no seasoning or flavor on it. The sandwich did have mustard, but I thought it would have been nice to have some flavor on the meat. The sandwich wasn't bad per se, but it was underwhelming. We ordered a large fry and it turns out it's a bucket of fries. ENTIRELY way too much food for the two of us, considering I usually nibble at three fries and am done. The malt vinegar that was mentioned in a tip for this place was spot on. I've never tried my fries like that but I was impressed and will definitely reach for a bottle next time too. I can firmly say that this place is 'pretty good' for me at the moment and will be heavily on my lunch/sandwich rotation. read more

It has taken me a long time to come to this restaurant. I guess it is because sub sandwiches are not my first or even 2nd choice for fast food. I should have come her many months ago. I had the special which was the chicken cordon bleu, small fries, medium size drink and chocolate chip cookie. Here's what impressed me: 1) The chicken for the chicken cordon bleu was cooked fresh for my order. 2) The bun is soft and not too big so it is not like you are eating just a loaf of bread. 3)The employees were very nice. 4) Restaurant was clean, even after the lunch time rush, when we came in. 5) Tuna salad is on the sweet side. I liked that but my husband did not particularly care for it being that sweet. 6) Fries are great. They must be freshly hand cut. I will return for some more good food. I have been going to the bolingbrook location recently after a friend suggested i try this place. I love their sandwiches, lemonade, and cookies. Everyone i know has enjoyed anything they've ordered from Penn station. We did not know of this location. After leaving Oakbrook mall, we were trying to find a place to eat and spotted this location out of the corner of our eye. Although its a small plaza, there is ample parking. The store was very clean and the staff was super polite. This time my husband and i ordered the Artichoke and mushroom sandwich as we usually do, and the large fries to share. The sandwiches came out open faced and cut, which i thoroughly enjoyed. The prices are fair and the menu is identical to all other locations. This is one of the places my classmates and I frequent for a quick cheap meal. It is similar to Jimmy John's and Subway's but I think it is cheaper. Keep an eye out for the BOGO free coupons, those are great ways to save money! I really like their philly cheesesteak sub. I tried the sausage sub once and it was okay, I wouldn't get it again because the philly cheesesteak is way better. The service is super fast, you'll get your food shortly after you order.
