I chose Penn solely on the great customer service of a lady named Criss who answered all my emails promptly and professionally. Unfortunately, Criss is no longer there. I had four visits to Penn, which should've been two if my appointments were handled properly. Only the last visit went the way it should and made this review two stars instead of one. One thing I can definitely say is the service manager Lino is top notch! First visit: I wanted to get some accessories installed after getting my car from another dealership. Everything seemingly went well. Then I noticed a few days later something looked off, the tech installed my body side moldings backwards....... Notified Criss who went to the service manager and made an appointment to get this fixed free of charge. Then COVID shut everyone down and I had to reschedule. Second visit: Made an early appointment for a day I had off with a service advisor because Criss is no longer there. I explained what happened in the previous visit and specifically tell her I'm coming in to have these replaced free of charge per the service manager. The day comes I get there early go to the waiting room and sit for three hours. Service advisor comes out and I think they're finally done. But she apologizes and informs me that nobody ordered the moldings needed...... Wasted half of my day for nothing. Third visit: The tech that can fix the moldings is only available on weekdays. I wait for two months until I can take a weekday off and make an appointment for the moldings. I also figured while I'm there I kill two birds with one stone and have them put on my new wheels with tires already mounted. Simple job I think to myself, more on that later. Wait a few hours and moldings are correctly installed although there are very small gaps between them and where the body panel curves. I bring this up to the young lady who is my service advisor. Her answer "maybe because they are new and just installed there will be a small gap, it will get better later". I looked at her stunned and told her if it's not stuck on now, it won't improve later. She had no response, so I just rolled my eyes and just left. On my way home I get on the highway and there's a vibration in the steering wheel. I figured the company I got my wheels from did not balance them correctly. Got home and while I was taking the old wheels out, I noticed the hardware box for the new wheels was unopened. It turns out the tech did not install the rings for the new wheels to properly sit on the hub.... Next day I took it to a tire shop and found that the tech also forgot to either install one wheel lock or it wasn't tight because it's now missing. I inform a service advisor who apologized and said the tech would be disciplined. No mention of reimbursing me for the cost of the wheel lock or labor to install the rings. Fourth visit: I'm only coming back because of Lino's service and Penn is the devil I know. There's a campaign from Toyota to fix a fuel tank issue specific to my automobile. I email Lino, give him all the info and get a response from another advisor in an hour. Made the appointment, dropped the car off and it was done in the afternoon. This was the smoothest appointment I ever had with Penn. read more

Three weeks later there were three charges to amazon and sent to a strange mailing address. Sure I contacted my card and got the charges reversed. No biggie on that front ... But... my salesman or another employee used the card. Credit card fraud 101. Years ago I bought from and used PENN TOYOTA for car service. At that time Jimmy Miga ran the service department. Lots of thank you letters he had on the walls of the waiting room and his office. But even then Mr. Penn the owner allowed and encouraged unscrupulous business activities. I know of six people including myself who were charged at that time for unnecessary parts and services or charged for parts and services never done. The new woman there is nice enough and seems honest. But now after being exposed to credit card fraud at Penn my opinion is in the gutter about them again. The owner is not a good guy. He does philanthropy to clean his image up, but everyone talks about him being an awful man behind his back. And just because he's located in Roslyn it hasn't deterred him from running a sleazy shop or employing sleazy people. Stay away from PENN TOYOTA I am overriding my former review. Sales experience was great. First few service appointments were great. Then I had an accident and made the mistake of asking Penn Toyota Service to handle the repair. I brought the car in right after Thanksgiving. It is now January 26th and the car is still out for repair, two months later!!! Initially they said that the repair would take two weeks. Twice now I've been told it would be ready the next Tuesday. At this point, no one in Service is calling me back. I'm not sure when I'll have the vehicle back at this point. I also don't know if they are honoring what my insurance estimated I will pay on my end for this repair. I'm shocked at how atrocious this entire process has been!! read more

Brought the vehicle in for service and was told the protection contract didn't cover the factory wheels on my vehicle even though it was clearly identified on the front of the contract. Came to Penn Toyota for my second stop, walked in and the front desk was very courteous and helpful. Michael Maguire and Tommy Kim, my two sales reps, were absolutely amazing. Very attentive and always ready to answer questions, they were also extremely knowledgeable about the various Toyota and their trims. You could tell that they were doing everything to make me as comfortable as I can be. The thing that I love most here is the TRANSPARENCY!! There are NO HIDDEN FEES like at other dealerships! I had been searching for a Toyota Corolla for several weeks and was at my wit's end from talking to shady 'dealers' via craigslist and facebook marketplace, when I started searching for pre-owned vehicles through cars.com. Conventional wisdom says buying from a private seller will get you a better deal than dealerships offer, but everyone on these websites were taking advantage of the computer micro chip shortage and low inventory levels to inflate the price of mediocre cars (often bought from auctions) or to tack on ridiculous dealer fees and "certifications" that drove the price up to way higher than advertised. Pre-owned cars were the price of a brand new car! Most dealerships also would not accept payment from my bank account and only took payment in the form of complicated bait-and-switch bank loans, which I did not want or need to pay and I certainly did not want such an unflattering loan on my credit report. This months-long car search was making my life very stressful and I was beginning to think I was not going to find a nice car for a very long time. I found Penn toyota in my search and imagined they would be like the rest of the dealerships I spoke to. I called a few times to confirm that they did not have any hidden "dealer fees" or mandatory warranty plans that I had to pay extra for. I just wanted a Toyota Corolla that had never been in an accident at this point! I called for an appointment to see a white Corolla I spotted on one of the car shopping apps. Within two hours I met with Vinny DiMola to test drive the car. As soon as I met Vinny I could tell he was the real deal- he wasn't trying to sell me anything, he could tell I knew what I wanted, and he just let me see what ever car I liked. I had been shopping for a Corolla for so long that I knew every detail to look for- and I could tell the 2018 Corolla LE I saw on Penn's lot was the car for me as soon as I drove it! I was still bracing myself for some kind of extra charge, being experienced in car buying I didn't believe that there would not be some expensive add-on for such a well kept car with so few miles on it, that was honestly a little underpriced for not only the make and model and condition it was in, but also for how high in demand these cars are today now that fuel is expensive and Toyotas are the most long-lasting cars. It was true though- apparently Penn Toyota is independently owned so the owners set their own rules and prices regardless of what the rest of the dealerships are doing. The price that was advertised on the app was basically the price I paid- along with a small bank charge because I did not finance. It was fine with me because even that was reduced down from the industry standard price. I called my dad as soon as I finished the test drive on Friday and by Monday evening the car was in my driveway. Take it from someone who test drove and shopped dozens of cars and spoke to nearly 100 sellers- you will not find a better car for a better price than Penn Toyota offers, and you won't find salesmen as cool and efficient as Vinny DiMola anywhere else. I have plenty of experience to compare this to, Penn goes above and beyond and is very fair and considerate to their customers. I would shop at this dealership again in a heart beat- I have had my car for a week and already put 200 miles on it- the car looks brand new, drives brand new, zips around and stops on a dime, makes no noise at all when idle, has a sound system that slaps and gets 30 miles to the gallon city driving. The led lights, paint color and side detail are very classy and honestly my car is a lot prettier than most corollas I see on the road. I got the best value for my money here at Penn Toyota and Vinny DiMola is the guy to see if you want to find a quality vehicle with no strings attached, no bank loan mumbo jumbo or dealer fees, for a price so good you don't need to negotiate. I went to at least 15 Toyota dealers looking for a 2016 Rav 4 and no one could even come close to the deal Alan Lu and Tony gave me. The original 2016 Rav 4 car I pick had and sensor issue and Alan was up front with me and said if I did not want the car I could get a different car. I chose a different Rav 4 for the same price. If you are looking for a car I say go here first and watch all the other dealers say they have no idea how you got that price. They would only match Alan and Tony's price not beat it. So to me if I where to go some where else to get the same deal it was not fair to the people who gave me the best deal from the start. Took my wife's car for service. Her car was shaking during braking. I was initially impressed on how fast they could tell me I needed a wheel alignment. Then after an hour of diagnosis. They said the car needed new brake pads and rotors. Which is fine, then I decided I would do it my self and order the parts through them. Two hours past by and I'm already irritated and on how long this is taking. I've reached out to the service staff multiple times and all they can say is their still working on it. After patiently dealing with their customer service team in trying to confirm the availability and price of the vehicle, I was finally told I would need to make an appointment and come in... just to get the price! I live an hour away, and saw that suggestion as absurd, so I reached out directly to the Sales Manager... whom never even replied! It would seem to behoove someone operating a sales business to reply to customers, and furthermore, to not keep the price of a new vehicle seemly as secret as a nuclear code. Businesses that operate in such a manner and the folks managing them give car dealerships a bad name, unfortunately. I needed a replacement key for my Camry. I went to the parts department. I was told that the key I needed had an immobilizer, like a computer chip. It would take 3 man hours, at a cot of $150 an hour to make the replacement key with the immobilizer. Plus the cost of the key. I was looking at spending around $500. Instead I went to a locksmith on Northern Blvd. I got the replacement key with the immobilizer for a cost of $75. Took ten minutes. I would not ever go back to Penn Toyota. Not one person in the parts department or service department was telling me the truth. I will purchase a Toyota again, but not from Penn Toyota. read more
