My kid says the heavenly hot cakes are the best thing she's ever eaten. Her "mmmmmmm" sounds were deafening. I took our server, Madison's suggested the pot of gold for me, which was scrambled eggs over absolutely perfect breakfast potatoes, peppers, sausages , covered in sausage gravy. Excellent breakfast spot! The pancakes, made with sour cream, are light, fluffy and delicious. Even better with the available (at a cost) real maple syrup. Omelettes are also excellent. I tried the Greek and Denver on separate occasions. Coffee is ok, but could be better with a richer flavor. Service is friendly and very efficient. PAC is a classic diner experience. Like something a family member might own and operate. We enjoy the service and the food. A word of warning or caution, they are often times busy so plan on a wait or get up early. We recommend the breakfast. I have to confess we have not been their for lunch very much. I don't understand all of the good reviews. Went with a group of friends. I ordered the Chile verde omelette. There was one very tiny piece of meat in the Chile verde. It basically was an omelette with tomatoes and onions inside and green sauce on top. It came with a side of potatoes and pancakes. The pancakes had a dense texture and hard exterior like it had been over cooked and sitting out? Definitely not worth $14.79 +tax and tip. Disappointed. read more

I have had Penny Anne's before and didn't understand the hype because it was... ehhh. I tried it again and thought it was great. First, the pancakes aren't as good as everyone claims. (I'd get something else). I got the chicken in waffles and a side of their breakfast potatoes. Both were delicious! You would think chicken inside a waffle would be strange, but it was 10/10. I also tried my friend's scone which was really good. I think my first experience I was banking on the famous pancakes being as life changing as everyone claimed, only to be let down by a pretty standard pancake. They have signs on the door that say "for the comfort of our guests, please use other door", signs on the floor telling you which ways to walk for social distancing, you're required to wear a mask in order to come in, all of the staff are wearing masks, and there is hand sanitizer at the entrance, BUT they are NOT doing anything to limit seating in the restaurant. The place was completely packed with no social distancing between other groups. My table was about two feet away from another table. I did not feel comfortable while dining in, which took away from the overall atmosphere. I give this place 2.5/5 stars for COVID precautions. Other than that, the food came out quick (once the waitress came to our table after waiting for 10 mins) and the food tasted great. Just never received a refill while we were eating. I probably won't be back during COVID. read more

The ambiance was good in that the interior was clean and bright. The banquette backs (double sided booth seats) aren't reinforced, so if you're on one side and a restless adult or squirmy child is on the other side you'll feel it, and I did. I had the bacon and mushroom omelette with Swiss cheese. I can't say it was special. It seemed like they had a precooked pancake of egg, sprinkled bacon bits, precooked mushrooms, and cheese in, folded it, then briefly heated it for the cheese to melt. Good for them (time to table) to have precooked ingredients, but it shows in the finished product with everything tumbling out when cut-- there wasn't a hint of incorporation. The French toast crust was rock hard, even a knife had trouble cutting, which is perplexing. Usually the egg wash always softens up day-old bread. The host seated me and brought my coffee and OJ, but it took a substantial time for the waitress to come and take my order. I had to ask for standard condiments (salt, pepper, ketchup) to be brought to my table minutes *after* my tepid order was delivered by someone from the kitchen. read more

The most overrated restaurant I've ever been to. The place is fine. It have nothing particularly great that they serve- the pancakes taste like overpriced Krusty's. My husband and his family love this place, but only because they grew up going there. I think that must be why most people would go, the sense of nostalgia?? But if you don't have a particular connection to the place it's not worth the 2 hour wait that they almost always have. Even on weekdays. I could make all the food they do, in less time and it would taste better. And I'm no chief. I have nothing against Penny Ann's, but it is not worth the hype. Even if I didn't have to wait forever to sit in a crowded table extremely close to strangers (yes- even during COVID-19), I still wouldn't go. Not sure how I've never reviewed Penny Ann's because I've been coming here for years! BEST BREAKFAST! Penny Ann's is the best breakfast in Utah! They make the best Heavenly Hot Cakes and now offer mix so that you can make them at home. I love their stuffed French toast and waffles and omelettes. Literally, I loved everything that I've had! The employees are always so nice and welcoming. Now the wait gets long here, like over 2 hours long BUT you can do ahead check in on the Yelp app. So you don't have to wait as long there and can see the wait time! I love this place! read more

I have only visited Penny Ann's during the weekend and everything I've visited, the place is packed. It's popular, and has a pretty big following and it's easy to see why. The food here is breakfast/greasy soon fare. You can expect a full plate of food as well. I think the owners know that many Americans want a nice hot, big breakfast and they cater to that. The food itself? It's pretty good! I got the Penny's pot, which is basically meat, potatoes, vegetables and cheese. The potatoes were well browned and everything had a pretty good flavor to it. The wait staff were super attentive, always checking in on us, and made sure we were happy. I'm going to be spending a lot more time at Penny Ann's. read more

I went for breakfast on Mother's Day and it was amazing! Unfortunately I did not have the same experience when it was catered to my work. Myself and 4 other employees got food poisoning and had to call out of work for the next 1-3 following days. Our Medical Practice was understaffed that week and it affected many of our patients. The only reason I'm giving any stars is because my dine in experience was good. When it was delivered, I spent the following days without sleep moving from my room to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes. I felt like I was dying. The only thing my coworkers and I could find in common with our meals is that ours all had gravy. I don't know if that was the issue, but I'm not willing to risk eating their food again. read more

Our favorite place for breakfast is the Draper location. Having tried most of the traditional breakfast entrees we enjoy the French toast with a side of blueberry compote with eggs any style and a choice of protein. From hotcakes to omelets it's all good. Penny Ann's Cafe was highly recommended to me by so many people. When we arrived, we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait. However, it wasn't until 45 minutes later when we were told our table was ready. The staff were all very nice and attentive. The menu has plenty of options to satisfy anyone in your party. Once the food came, it was just average cafe breakfast food. I don't think that the food itself is worth the extreme wait times. read more

Sat us at a table by the door and we froze! So did others by the looks of everyone with their coats on their lap. There should be a larger entry way and way to stop the cold air. At least in the winter months. Also, my breakfast sandwich was very lonely on the big white plate. They should serve it with a little fruit because it's one expensive $10.00 breakfast sandwich.
