I want to compliment the following employee: Mary Mort Pep Boys store #374 1164 Pulaski Highway Bear, DE 19701 302-836-3338 When the tow truck showed up to take my car to the Pep Boys, I asked the tow truck driver's wife, who seemed very knowledgeable about her husband's business, what she could tell me about this Pep Boys that I was about to drop off my car at for the night. I wanted to know if she thought I would be taken advantage of for the cost of the repairs, and if she thought I should take the car some place better. She assured me it would be ok. She said they have taken many cars to the Pep Boys and never had any problems with the service. She named Mary and said Mary would take good care of me. Well, she was right! Mary called with a smile in the morning to tell me the condition of the car and cost of the repairs. When I picked up my car, Mary was there with a smile. She was very professional and explained everything in a way I could understand without talking down to me. After I checked the car, I went back to Mary with a noise concern. She came out to my car, then got a repairman to check the car to see if he agreed with what she thought. The diagnosis was that the belt would loosen in time and the noise would stop, which it did. This was a very unpleasant situation for me, made much better by Mary's kindness and patience. Please find a way to recognize her for doing a wonderful job! read more

Now not sure how you would feel, but I felt miserable that my car broke down and now a car I am borrowing goes down. I had my car towed to this Pep Boys and early communications didn't have me comfortable, but the next morning I returned and ran into Katie, Katie, Katie. After talking with her, I not only left my car there after making arrangements to have it taken elsewhere but went forward with all repairs. Katie was KIND, ACCOMMODATING, TIME-SAVING, INSIGHFUL, and EMPATHIC. I found that she looks for win-win situations and makes you feel that the customer in front of her is the most important customer she has "for the moment". I felt very welcome & was told that I would have my vehicle done in no time! I was taken care of in less than 20min with a packed house of vehicles. & during those 20min Mr Lee Skinner walked around to every customer waiting on a vehicle & conversated with each one of us to make sure we were doing OK & kept everyone upbeat & pretty satisfied with such great service & just a very good people person. I needed an oil change for my Cadillac XTS and Pep Boys is always cheaper than the dealer so I take it to the Bear, DE location. I got a call that the car was done but they recommended I replace the tires as there was only about 1/32" of tread left. I said it only had 40K miles on it, Craig said, uhh, you have 52K on it. DOH! So, long story short, Craig gave me 4 Goodyear Eagle Touring tires, installed, at a great price. Called me back in an hour and said it was ready to be picked up. I have been going to this Pep Boy location for 20 years and have never had a single issue. Katy is the service manager and is always willing to listen to you should you need her to. read more

I went to Pep Boys to get a trailer hitch installed on my 2005 Mazda Tribute. I was quoted a price that was better than any of the hitch installing businesses in the area. Upon completion, I was told the labor took about 2 hrs longer than originally quoted. Lee, my service person, held the cost at the original quote and even honored the military discount that I have enjoyed for m this Pep Boys since I retired from the Army. This is the only Pep Boys that extends a military discount. I have enjoyed good reputable service from them for the last 11 years and hope to frequent their establishment for many more ! read more

I recently had a oil change at the Pep boys on route 40. The Auto Service Department was extremely courteous and knowledge especially Juan, Katy, Zee and Greg. I truly appreciate the care they take with my car. During the maintenance the interior is always kept tidy which is important to me. The staff is patient and when I request a service they often inquire about my windshield wipers, tires need air and other services. I value their opinion. I have been going to this Pep Boys for years for service!!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Tim Graham is so personal and friendly and always goes out of his way to shake my hand whenever he sees me, and makes me feel like a VIP CUSTOMER, no wonder why Pep Boys has him as a manager. Lee at Pep Boys is AMAZING! I went out to get milk this morning, tried to roll down my window and it would not roll back up. It's Winter here folks, and I am tight monetarily right now. I started crying right before he called me into his line. He was extremely personable, helped calmed me down, and took me right out to my truck to try and fix it right away. Unfortunately, I have a bad window regulator. However, he still brought my truck into the shop, took off the paneling, put up my window for now. Best yet he covered the cost!!!! Five Stars! I had taken my vehicle to 3 different repair shops and no one could repair it. Then I decided to go to pepboys in Bear, DE. After a short wait, the tech was very friendly and knowledgeable describing the problems I was experiencing with my vehicle. Some of my repairs were maintenance and the tech explained to me that I did not to get them right now. The staff was friendly and the wait time wasn't as long as I expected. Pep Boys Store at Bear, DE is awesome. Greg made my day. On Aug 4th, went for an oil change at 7:30PM, getting ready for a 7 hr journey to Niagara the next day. GREG was kind enough to accommodate the request in the last minute to help me. My SUV was ready at 8:53PM but the store closes at 9PM. I was able to make only at 9:10PM and GREG, my saviour was waiting for me with my keys ready. Only becuase of GREG I was able to make my journey to Niagara. In fact he asked me to do the payment later when possible. I luv Pep Boys and will be a loyal customer. read more

FIRST: My name is GWEN not Jack! My visit was great and that's not the norm for car repairs. Came in and they took my car in within 5 minutes. Confirmed the issue I was having and kept me updated on the process. They went out of their way to check a few extra areas but could not duplicate the problem. My Dealership couldn't either. If problem returns I'll definitely go back to the Bear DE location. Everyone was attentive, took time to answer questions and made suggestions on next steps should the problem return!
