Brought my car to Pep Boys for an alternator replacement. The very nice time I drove my car it overheated and I found the serpentine belt dangling off at the bottom. Seeing as how the serpentine belt has to be removed to replace the alternator it made sense that this was either not replaced or replaced incorrectly. The assistant manager told me there was 0% chance of this and that it was merely a coincidence. Complete lack of customer service. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! They will take your money and make up a reason to charge you! Aaron the manager is very unprofessional and is never there its just 1 employee that can't help with any problems. Took my truck in for a faint sound and $750 later after they assured me that was the issue was fixed, is still there so they fixed stuff that wasn't needed and charged me for it. NEVER EVER WILL EVER DO BUSINESS WITH ANY PEP BOYS AGAIN!! I had a battery/alternator issue and drove past an Auto Zone and Oreily's to come straight here as I intended to purchase a Bosch Platinum battery and/or alternator for my truck. I get there and ask them to check the battery as well as the alternator which is a free service from the two other auto parts stores I drove past. Well, they immediately start with an upsell of $15 for a charging system eval. REALLY??!?? I drove past two vendors that freely offer this same service for a sales pitch?? Well, I've called AAA and they're on their way to get my truck as I write this to take her home so I can diagnose/repair her myself. I went into Pep Boys and asked to speak to the Manager. I told her clearly. "I hope your $15 upsell attempt was worth a customer because y'all just lost a battery sale, alternator sale and a customer for life as I will NEVER set foot in a Pep Boys as long as I live. I will let everyone know in every review and social media site I can find of how you value sales attempts over long-term customer satisfaction and loyalty". I came in yesterday and the manger Arron told me that he could fix my head light today and would book me appointment for 11 o'clock. I get here And there was no appointment. One of the worse places to do business with, order one simple part online this morning, they told me to wait until they recieved my order and clear payment, 2 hours later my order has been processed, 1 hour later my order is ready to pick up So I show up to the store and get in line 15 minutes later they told me, my order is not even close to ready since they closed down this store and they need to ship my item from a close by so I would get it sometime Tuesday's or Wednesday. Service here was fantastic yet again. Had my brakes serviced here about a year ago, and while I will admit I initially felt a little up-sold, the service was fast and friendly. I recently had a strange noise develop that I felt was related to my brakes, I took my car to a Pepboys in Plano thinking that I would have a similar experience. Boy was I wrong. Rude and impatient, and implied that if I did not immediatley spend $4800 with them (for brakes, suspension, and engine mounts) my car wouldn't even be safe to get home, in disbelief I returned to these guys. They went above and beyond searching for the source of the noise apologizing profusely when none of us could replicate it at the shop. They told me my brakes were fine and suggested that my engine mounts should be replaced, showed me where and why they believed this, and told me that while they honestly didn't think it would solve my issue, it would likely help them locate it. They quoted me at $360 (the shop in Plano said $480 before labor), but they wouldn't have the part until Sunday. I explained that I work Sundays and live an hour away, so they got the part from another supplier and ended up having me out the door for $220. The best part is that the sound has largely gone away. read more

Absolute mistake of my life, first off I initially went to firestone for a SIMPLE OIL CHANGE, they took forever and a random customer said go to pep boys hey get you in n out right ok cool. It's right next door so figured why not, I walked over there and they were the same price as firestone so I said meh I'll just go to the firestone further down Harwood. The assistant manager JIMMY said let's beat firestone price so he quoted me $40 for a oil change. Fine sure, keep in mind my car is brand new 2017 Honda Civic hatchback sport. I sit and wait as they do my oil change right, when I received my car and everything was supposably good to go I get in my car and the oil change light is still on. Ok that shouldn't be there. Told JIMMY and the technicians told JIMMY the assistant manager to do it. So I'm waiting by my car and jimmy comes out to reset the button in my car he literally pulls up YouTube on how to reset it. WOW, ZERO credibility. I started getting nervous so I looked around my car making sure if the right oil was in it and anything else. I notice that the front of my grill is broken and the clamps are all popped out and snapped. I know I didn't come in with that. It's clear that when JIMMY opened my hood that he mistaken the grill part as my hood and obviously just of used force and broke that shit. There's a button in my car to open my hood which he didn't see because is he did I wouldn't be writing this review. I told jimmy, and he denied it at first and they technicians all were looking st my car trying to figure out what to do and was trying to Add clamps and such to my car to half ass fix what they broke. I have all of this on video and I would upload it if I could. The techs said more less yeah we can't fix this sorry go to Honda. And jimmy ended up admitting he DID mess with my hood and opened it wrong along with the two techs that saw him do it too. Moral of the story my front bumper had to be replaced, my grill, and another piece of my grill which came out to $1300. I had Honda take car of it luckily and PEP boys wrote me a check for it so it was taken care of but man the store manager KIT (or whatever his name is) was rude too. Didn't acknowledge me and came up to me more less like ok what do you want here we go. Not even a sorry or hello ma'am we apologize for this ect. NOTHING. I called him out on video saying wow I'm suprised you didn't say sorry or anything coming from a store manager he just looks at me and goes. I haven't gotten to that yet. (LOL WHAT? That should be the FIRST thing you say to me) And as i sit there and explain. The situation as he writing stuff up another lady comes in and he is completely nice to her and stopped what he was doing saying he will be with her in just a moment all nice but nothing to me. I feel he was low key racist because I'm white and he's black and the lady that came in was black and I didn't get that same treatment from the start with him. Yeah OK. End of the day my car was taken care of and I got my oil REDONE because I saw reviews after the fact and saw they put wrong oil in peoples cars so I just had everything redone. Honestly Pep boys needs to fire JIMMY the assistant manager & KIT the store manager, especially how in professional they are and should represent PEP BOYS AS A COMPANY with better core values and professionalism. They obviously don't take their position seriously. Not to mention there's not ONE camera in that workshop that I SAW which is completely ILLEGAL. So if something happened to my car it's not on camera. Thank god I recorded everything myself. I don't recommend this place at all. This was my first experience with pep boys too. Took our daughters van in, we were told the problem was the power steering pump they said when they took the old one out it was falling apart. They said the first one they tried to replace it with was faulty and it would be the next day. We went by to check the status now they say it's the water pump. We paid$600+ for a part that was not needed. The Sunday service "manager" didn't care no apologies or anything. We did get a thank you as we left as scriped. Thank you Pep Boys for the survey we did use it, and will fallow up with an email and a call too home office. We also heard a customer come in to tell them they used the wrong oil inn his jeep when they did his oil change a week ago, good thing he checked before it caused real damage. Really? If they can't get that simple thing like the correct oil change why should we expect accurate and honest service. I've taken my car into Pep Boys twice in the past two months - once for a fog light that I thought needed replaced and once for a rattling muffler. With the fog light, they ordered the part which was delivered within 45 mins, and then when they looked at my car, they realized the fog light was working perfectly. When I showed up, they demonstrated to me how the light worked, and sent me on my way with NO CHARGE. With the rattling muffler, they fixed it, again, FOR FREE. They said when the put the car up, they saw that some piece of the muffler just needed to be reattached. So they did it (again, for NO CHARGE). I'm now a loyal customer for life. It's rare to find such honesty and integrity in a car repair shop. read more

My car would not start so I had it towed to the Pepboys and they told me I needed a new alternator so I agreed to do that and it cost me almost $1000. Two days later my car would not start again I had it towed back to the Pepboys and this time they told me I needed a new battery which cost me $220. The next day my car would not start again I called Pepboys back and I was told they were not interested in helping me anymore. So I ended up going to the local Acura dealer only to learn that Pepboys had installed the battery in correctly! Took my car in last night for a power steering leak. I was told they'd look at it in the morning and give me a call. They call me this morning and tell me what's wrong, all of which I somewhat expected. But, they go on to tell me they cannot give me a quote because they don't have the part (Uh, THIS IS AN AUTO PART STORE) and would be able to by the end of the day. 3 o'clock rolls around and still no update so I call and they beat around the bush, telling me they'd call by the end of the day. 6 o'clock rolls around and still nothing so I went in and picked up my car. They also made no effort to look into the reason why my car hadn't started that morning. Terrible, terrible experience. How is a parts store unable to source a part? Especially since said part is one that commonly needs replacing. They said they were waiting on calls back... no, it is your responsibility to look for the parts, call the people as many times as necessary. read more

Ordered tires and had them delivered at this pep boys to be installed. My first appointment was 11/23 from 2-5pm. I come in at 2 and the guy tells me his tire guy just left and it might take till 6pm to get it done. He suggested I come in 11/24 when they open at 9am. So I did. They don't pull my truck in until 12pm, so I waited 3 hours for them to finally get my car in the shop. Now its has been more than 6 hours and they still havent finished. Im so confused, I've seen people that came in later than me that got service before me. I'm used to going to Discount Tire and they take at MAX two hours before they get to my car, and even then they get the job done in 30 minutes. At this rate, Im going to miss my shift for work. I'm beyond disappointed, I'm angry. I will never come back to a Pep Boys, and I definately will never recommend them for any car related service to anyone I know. Edit: After getting my car finished by 4:30pm, I still stand by my review. However, I will applaud Zach, the new person at the front desk that changed my tires. He had to learn in the moment how to change my car's tires and he knew how long I was waiting. He did everything he could to help me even though he didnt know how to do the job at first. Management needs to plan their staffing much better because this was abyssmal. And give Zach a raise cause he's the only reason this crap was bearable. read more

Pulled over here to have my tires checked due to my tire pressure sensor light coming on. I sat in the customer car line for about 15 minutes. One person shouted from inside the garage "I will be right with you." I assume he was talking to me but I am not positive. He was so far away that I also could not even see him. Perhaps it was a recording... who knows. Several employees glanced at me and looked away quickly before I could say "Hey can you help me?" I think they were moderately busy at the time. Frustrated, I left and went up the road to Discount Tire and even though they were busier, they helped me immediately. I was in and out of Discount Tire in 5 minutes. It is no wonder Discount Tire was busier than Pep Boys. Pep Boys isn't as good and its only about 200 yards away. I would not go back to this Pep Boys. read more

Love hate Pep Boys. They try but seldom deliver 100%. We took our Toyota 4 Runner here to replace the front shocks, the price was good but they did not have the shocks in stock. They finished the repair an hour past the promised time. Once we left the front end started squeaking. We took it back to Pep Boys and they said it was installed properly and could not figure it out. We then took it Toyota in Grapevine and were told that when you replace the shocks you are supposed to replace this round washer like ring which Pep Boys did not do. So it ended up costing us what it would cost if we took it to Toyota to begin with. Note to self even if its cheaper its not always the best deal. read more

Booked car in on Internet for 9am. Arrived around 8:30am to be told that "the guy" who is doing it won't be in till 10am. Told them I was in a rush and was told no problem you are first. At 10:30am my car is still sat there. Asked what was going on, was told "oh I forgot, he's not in today. But we can schedule you an appointment." Yeah, I tried that already....on the Internet. Won't be taking my car here again. Moral of the story, don't bother using their website to schedule anything, and give yourself the whole day to be messed around. Ended up going to Drivers Edge. This is where I have been getting most of my service performed. You do have to watch them sometimes. They were really trying to get to me on a brake job. I went to NAPA (because they actually had the high end ceramics in stock) and purchased the rear brake pads and installed them myself for around $65. They were going to charge me around $300 for the lowest cost pads. They were claiming I needed new rotors. My rotors are fine. They also charged me for an extra quart on my oil change which made their low cost oil change cost the same as I get a Kwik Car (and I would have received name brand oil). read more

Evidently there is only 1 Master Technician who can Fix or work on car locks. Last Wed. I came in and was advised the Mast Technician would be out until Monday. I'm then told they would be able to get to NJ it upon arrival since I had to wait a few days. Needless to say it's now Monday and I'm told it Will be 2 to 3 hours. Stopped in to get my codes pulled on a vehicle as they offer `free pull codes for check engine light ' spoke to a Casey behind the counter. When I asked them to check my engine codes he told me that only the master technician does that and they are only there Monday through Friday. What an absolute croc, first of all it doesn't take a master technician to use a handheld obd2 scanner to pull codes. Secondly, if you don't do that sort of thing on the weekends you probably should change the signage to reflect this. I'm pretty sure he just didn't want to do it, I went to their competitor auto zone and they gladly helped me. My name is Rose M. After spending thousands of dollars getting my car repaired(supposedly), I worked hard trusting this place to ensure my safety and my car. I go into the place with 1 issue and leave with many car issues. The sales person, Chris told me (after my car was left with them for days), that he would give me a rental car. I told him that my car has been here too long and that I need a car because I make my living traveling in it. I complained because he said my car was ready on that day and when I went to pick it up, was about to drive off, I heard horrible noises like a bed of snakes dragging on the ground. I let the mechanic hear it and he took it back to work on it. I receive the rental car that evening and got a call from Chris Williamson the next day that my car was ready. I pick it up and before I got home, I called Chris to tell him I smelled fumes from my air vents. He said he would tell the mechanic. He came back to the phone and said that it was probably the oil coming from the exhaust and to bring it in the next day. I did and mechanic said he cleaned it the best he could but I could wash the engine with water or let it burn off. Hum. That wasn't it.Also, as far as the rental car, I get a bill month later for two days of rental. I didnt have it for two days plus Pepboys was supposed to pay for it. I contact Chris many times and we texted back and forth regarding the invoice. He said they would pay it. Yeah right!. I contacted them many times but to no avail. I also called Hertz rental.many times to tell them to send to Pepboys but Chris put it in my name. Currently, my car is in need of repair. They screwed up my car. I just paid over $200 for a serpentine drive belt at Precision, which I only went there for an oil change. Boy oh boy. They checked the car only to find that I need new seals for transmission,(output shaft seals)Pepboys mechanic broke them when replacing both CV axle shaft assembly. Also I need gaskets. I called Pepboys today and got the"I will look into it and call you on Monday syndrome. Today is June 16, 2018 and I need my car repaired.... This level of incompetence is mind boggling. I took my car there for an inspection. It went ok. While I was waiting for the car in front of mine to finish I listened them to call up the owner and hit him one at a time with the small things wrong with his car. I think they should have inspected the whole car, then called with the report. Then my turn came. The asst. manager came in and told my license plate light was out. I asked him how much and he told me, but then he said, "It's the law". My reply was "Yes, but you don't have to do it. Go ahead and change it." His eyes got really big and my car was finished really fast. Then the manager checked me out and it Sir, this and Sir, that. So, if you go there for an inspection, ask them to inspect the entire car, then report what is wrong. I don't think they will make anything up. read more
