Sunday November 12th, I brought my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 here to purchase the lifetime alignment package. I figured it was a great deal, I know you're supposed to get your alignment checked every 6 months or so and I am planning on getting new wheels and tires soon anyway so why not? I had no problems with my vehicle prior to dropping it off at this Pep Boys location. I bought it brand new and have had it only a little over a year! SEVERAL HOURS later I get a call from Pep Boys explaining their technician Juan had been working on it for 3 hours and every time he aligned it to 100% a steering wheel fault sensor would appear on my dashboard instrument panel. He said their computers could not deactivate the fault so they said I would have to take it to the dealership. I arrived at the Pep Boys and asked them to describe the fault that was appearing on my dashboard instrument panel because I did not see any. The service advisor who wrote up my order, I believe his name was Eziquel, and the technician Juan both said it was "an A with a circle around it with an ! next to it." I explained that symbol is my Jeep's Auto Stop/Start feature NOT a steering wheel fault. Once I explained this the technician, Juan, changed his story and said, "it was a message that popped up in the message center of your dashboard instrument panel. The message said, 'Steering Wheel Angle Off.'" I checked the message center on my vehicle and the were NO messages. After again explaining this to Juan and the service advisor, they both stated they "did not want to touch my vehicle anymore and I would have to take it to the dealership." The dealership is expensive, but OK. I got in my vehicle and proceeded to drive away. Right away I noticed my steering wheel was clearly off center and cranked over to the right. There was also a very noticeable creaking sound coming from the front passenger side area. My vehicle was NOT this way when I brought it in. SO first thing in the morning, Monday November 13th, I brought my Jeep to the dealership as soon as they opened and explained what happened. They took my vehicle in and got to work. A few hours later they called me to come down to the dealership. They said they got it to align a lot better than when I brought it in, however, they were not able to align it 100% due to the front right lower control arm and Knuckle being bent. They quoted me nearly $1,600 parts and labor to fix the issue!!! I brought this paperwork to pep boys and spoke to Rudy who said he was the one in charge at the time. I told him the story, presented the paperwork, and asked that pep boys reimburse me for the expenses OR provide store credit for the balance of the cost of fixing my vehicle. He abruptly advised me he does not have the authority to resolve this issue. He said Rafael, the service manager, would not be in until the following day. Rudy told me that Rafael would contact me with a resolution after speaking to everyone involved and reviewing their cameras. The next day, now Tuesday the 14th of November, Rafael calls me and says after speaking to everyone involved and reviewing the cameras they were not at fault and they would not be reimbursing me or providing store credit to cover the cost of fixing the damage done to my vehicle. He also said that "the technician only pulled my car onto the rack, worked on it for 15 minutes and pulled the Jeep back out and parked it." I asked Rafael why Eziquel, the service advisor, told me on Sunday that the technician worked on it for 3 hours if the camera only shows 15 minutes of work being performed. I also asked why it took them several hours to call and advise me that they could not align my vehicle if they stopped working on it after 15 minutes. Rafael became extremely rude and proceeded to provide excuse after excuse. After about 15 minutes of back and forth, over the phone, I asked Rafael who the next person above him was so that I could take the matter up with them. Rafael advised me that the next step was for me to contact their corporate office, which I did. I called corporate and spoke with Simon who listened to my story and advised me Rafael was supposed to refer me to the retail manager and that if the retail manager could not find a resolution the retail manager was to refer me to the store manager. If the store manager could not find a resolution THEN the store manager was to refer me to corporate. However, Simon processed my complaint and sent it over to the District and Regional managers and advised me one of them would contact me with a resolution and if they could not find a resolution that I was to contact corporate again. It is now Wednesday November 15th and still I have heard nothing. Meanwhile I am still without my vehicle as it is at the dealership being repaired. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS PEP BOYS! UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE STUCK WITH THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS FOR DAMAGES THEY INFLICT ON YOUR VEHICLE AND THEN LIE ABOUT! read more

Terrible customer service. There was this lady with long fake lashes, long black hair, and some weight on her. I am not trying to discriminate on her, I am only describing her so you are all aware of who NOT to go to. I approach her with a smile and say hi and she says nothing back. For several years, I thought I was being taken care of. Come to find that parts I'd have replaced would have issues not too long after. I had a transmission mount that was broken (and replaced with the other mounts). Thereafter my whole car was making that nervous noice and it was found out that the after market part was defective. Pep Boys recognized this as their fault and fixed it. Within a year, all the mounts went bad again. I had my rotars, brake pads and etc replaced and my car started to squeak not too long after too when in reverse. The car was just not lasting long as it should have. Finally, one day my car just wouldn't start and was told it sounds like it was my alternator. My father thought I shouldn't have all these issues so soon after being fixed finally just took my vehicle to another shop and was told that all after market parts put in where just bad. Got me out of there in less than an hour during a very busy time. 3/10/18 Here again for a smog inspection on another car. Rudy and his tech, again, went above and beyond. No stars if I could, worst service ever. I went for a steering wheel and suspension check. Guy told me it would be a minimum of 45 min to 1 hour just to see what is wrong with it. I decided to wait and wait I did . An hour and a half went by and my car was still outside where I parked it. They had not even checked the car in all that time. I asked the employee how much longer do I have to wait. He said that the employee was told to check my car before going to lunch but said screw it and went to lunch instead. After lunch he started working on a different car. He then said to give them more time. I asked for my keys and left. All together I waited little more than 2 hours and they did not even touch my car . They hire employees to Stand around. Seven standing and only like to working on cars. In addition , While waiting for my car to get checked, I walked around the store and noticed that the prices are high for a lot of things they sell. Basically those days are though and companies like pep boys working hard very hard "over charging " more money from customers. Sample $ 120-160 pair front wheels bearings for Avalanche truck cost in some companies, but pep boys are billing $ 197 just for one unit. Looks like it's right, but truly it's over the price. Who control those a normal and abuse system? Nobody and companies those days are laggards and machine money makers doing almost nothing than billing higher bills. I've been to this location a few times, but have yet to write a review. I always go to Ezequiel, as he goes above and beyond to make sure I am happy with my service. If he is busy, he will make sure whoever is working on my truck does exactly what I need. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are the absolute worst ! They will add additional services to fleet vehicles just because they know that the customer doesn't pay for these services. I have had to tell them that they cannot add these additional services without my permission and they still do them. It's ridiculous and it will be the last time that I take my vehicle here. They also took over 24 hours for a simple oil change and brake service. What is the point of an appointment if they can't even honor that. Beware !! Their techs and service advisors are useless. They can never seem to check what parts are needed until the job is about to be completed and they figure out that they don't have the parts. Pep Boys is a convenient alternative to using a dealership for my oil changes. Make an appointment online ahead of time and you'll get their 30 minute guarantee. Otherwise, you may wait an hour or more. The maintenance staff is pretty staightforward and helpful. read more

Came here for a set of 4 tires on my sisters Mazda, very happy with the service and was glad that they had a special on tires and alignment packaged. BEWARE: Around 2 weeks ago I got an oil change, alignment and tire change from this pep boy shop, I've been to this place for years now, but the last time I went I had seen a lot of unfamiliar faces and it made me feel uneasy since I don't know their work. Sure enough, I get my car back and upon reversing out of the parking lot my transmission lagged when I shifted. I put it in park and it lagged again... very big delays occur as if it's drained from transmission fluid. I'm not saying this was done with malicious intent, but I'm not sure if the mechanics at this location are knowledgeable. Go to a different shop. read more

I have taken my car here for smog checks since 2010. This last time I took it elsewhere because it was cheaper. The person said my catalytic converter was not a factory issue?????? So I took it to PepBoys for a second opinion the matter. I explained that the guy could not make out the numbers on it. Sooooo an hour or so later I get a call that it did not pass but they could repair for $2,000 or I could get it fixed elsewhere?????? WTF I picked up my car and asked if they are sure the numbers they saw were correct. I disputed this because I have never changed this part on my car. This morning was my apt with the DMV Smog Referee and he sprayed 409 a little elbow grease and read the number to his teeth and I passes So NO PEP BOYS my catalytic converter was not tampered with it just needed to be cleaned. Came in for an oil change quote and was happy to hear that they would be able to squeeze me into their busy schedule to get it done. Yes, the wait time + labor time is lengthy but I am a walk in customer and there were people that had appointments so I truly appreciate them letting me know I was going to wait. They're not robots & I don't expect to be in & out so quick. The staff is nice and they let me know if there's any issues I should be concerned about when they inspect the rest of my car. First of all, I have absolutely no complaints about this service department. Every time I've been here Eric and the rest of the staff has made me feel well taken care of and appreciated. With that being said, I came into this location to make a small purchase. I wasn't in a hurry, I was in a happy mood. I went back to the service counter where I waited patiently to be helped. The employees were quick and helpful in finding the part that I needed and I made my way up to the cashier. As I walked up to the cashier, her name is Maria, I noticed her conversing with what seemed to be a friend (who wasn't making a purchase). I waited patiently until I was called. When I made my purchase, I asked for a screwdriver (so that I could install the part that I purchased). I was told that I would be able to use one. Upon completing the purchase, the cashier went back to talking to her friend. After about 10 seconds, she asked "what do you want?" I asked her if I could please use the screwdriver. Her reply was "you didn't tell me what kind". She said it with attitude. She pretended to "look around" for one...but quickly said that she didn't have one. Since I couldn't immediately install it, I asked for a refund and I was told that she couldn't do that. I snapped a photo to post this on yelp and she called the cops on me. Her friend then confronted me and asked me if I had a problem. She said that it's illegal to take a picture in their store. I took the photo because she wasn't wearing a name tag and refused to give me her name. I asked for the manager and she said "she is the manager" (even though the cops determined she wasn't). I got my refund and waited (outside) for about 30 minutes for the cops to arrive. They asked what happened and quickly determined that it was a waste of their time. No report was filed. Corporate office has been contacted. Sadly, I can't see myself returning to a store with such a rude employee. read more

This place saved my night!! Shout out to Jason and Carl for the amazing service they provided. I talked to Jason on the phone the last hour of the day because I was in tire trouble. He agreed if I made it before they closed he would help me out. I got their and Carl put my spare on for me and filled up the rest of my tires with air. Went for a brake inspection for a squeak, had an appointment at 10 am, after two hours they take my car then said I need new brakes and new tires. The new front brakes were going to be 260 and new tires 350 and the tires were Starfire, a no name brand. Said no thanks, went to a tire shop and got good tires for 370 and they checked my brakes and they said the brakes were good, 70 percent and just needed brake cleaner. Glad I didn't get ripped off. Honestly props to the service team, my serpentine belt snapped on the freeway so I drove over to this Pep Boys fully expecting to leave my car for a couple of days. Dear Mr., Mr., And Mr. Pep, The customer service here was extremely sub par. I bought over $300 worth of brake parts yesterday. However, when I came in today to simply return/exchange some of the parts, I was told I couldn't because I didn't have my receipt. Your return policy literally states "No receipt, no problem." It became an unnecessary process to do a simple exchange and store credit. I got my parts and did my exchange, only to get home and realize one of the brake shoes I was given was cracked. Which, required me to another store for an exchange. Get it together boys. read more

Came specifically here during work hours as soon as they opened at 8am.. I had a big nail in my tire which needed to be repaired asap. I let the staff know i was currently on the clock being that my shift didn't end till after closing time. They were kind enough to let me know they will have me out of there as quick as they can. Within 30 minutes they repaired the tire, checked the tire pressure of all my tires, and I was on my way.. they certainly saved the day. I rolled into the front of PepBoys having a panic attack, crying my eyes out because the car was making a hideous sound that sent me into panic. Earlier that day I had gotten an oil change at American Tire Depot in Long Beach and they tried to up sell me on getting all new shocks. The guy was super aggressive and basically said "your car is going to fall apart if you don't get this work". At first I thought I needed that work but then changed my mind and wanted a second opinion. The guy was PISSED. I drove away with the feeling of "something just ain't right". And it wasn't!! Since I didn't want that extra work the jerkoffs didn't put the bottom part of my car on! It was dangling and eventually was hitting my tire and the road and I thought my car was falling to pieces while I was driving. When my boyfriend and I got to pep boys we could see that the bottom was falling off. After a few minutes of us on the ground an employee came out asking if we wanted any help. My boyfriend explained the problem and they both said a ziptie would hold up the plastic piece to the frame. I told the employee, Ezekiel, what happened earlier that day with the guy telling me I needed like $800 of work for new shocks. He checked the shocks and showed me where they were, told me what they do (I don't know crap about cars) and where the suspect shock was. He said it's a Honda and they go forever, that I could drive to NYC and back on the little leaky shock and it would still be ok and that those other guys were jerks. He even checked my oil to make sure that they actually changed it. Ezekiel was sweet, informative, and knew how to talk to some one who was upset about their vehicle + who didn't really understand cars. He assured us we should be ok, and the plastic frame thing is annoying but fixed none the less. I purchased some shocks for my car and made an appointment to have them installed. When I went to pick up the shocks there was a female (Blanca) who had a mouth like a sailor. She was dropping F bombs on the phone in front of customers and didn't even bat an eye. The website said regular price to install was $34.99 per shock for my car, but they had a special for 50% off. I even printed out the coupon, but the manager refused to honor it. Instead he quoted me a price of $300. Don't come to this pep boys unless you like the "old bait and switch" trick pulled on you. read more

Today I went in for a simple oil change. Katie helped me with my service and she was AMAZING! She was very personable and easy to talk to. Katie made sure I was getting the best level of products that were suitable for me. She even offered a free tire rotation and recommended I buy windshield wipers (which I did). I feel like she genuinely went out of her way this evening to help me. I would definitely go back to her. Not to mention the rapid level of work that was done. I had my car serviced so quickly!!
