I know my car won't make it to oak lawn it's currently overheating but they 100% do not listen to customers. I brought it in Sunday morning they called me (I changed thermostat) to tell me it needs a coolant flush got air in line (when I dropped it I told them it's overheating and fan isn't kicking on) I pick it up and yo to add freeon because the compressor kicking on and off (tech thought the compressor turning on and off was fan) I dropped it back off told him fan still isn't working and I call at 530 they tell me it needs a water pump like wtf!!!! No the fan is not kicking on! For the 4th time! I'm mad I gave this place $125 for a coolant flush and a terrible diagnosis fee. Then they tell me the tech that's on ur jeep is off the next 2 days. Ok cool I'll pick it up and take it to Amerimex where I should of gone in first place! This place won't get another dime of my money! Unbelievable!!! Oh and pep boys if you're gonna charge me $45 for a diagnosing fee can you at least get it right the first time! Fan still not kicking on but if u visually inspect it you'll kno that they more worried about trying to upsell me $800 ball joints then fix the issue I brought it in So I was told GM was gonna call me because I was an unsatisfied customer and asked what happened and I told him when I filled out pprwork I specifically said fan wasn't kicking on they did everything other than visually inspect fan. Gm did not offer my money back even tho I just basically gave it a coolant flush(didn't tighten thermostat housing bolts and lost all my coolant) instead he offered me a oil change. Y'all couldn't fix a fan because now that i hear it running it's never been on in the 5.5 months I've owned the car. Had y'all fixed my issue the first time this review would be completely different. What they did is basically robbed me with a smile on their face. Amerimex does phenomenal work and anytime my or my wife's car needs to be serviced and if I can't do it they will. My recent experience at the Pep Boys in Homewood was such a great experience! I have been here numerous of times getting tires replaced. But this time I give this location a 5 Stars because of Johnny & Julian SHOUT OUT TO THEM! The store open up at 8:00a.m. I was there at 7:45a.m Johnny opened 15 minutes early after seeing I was waiting just to see what my issue was. He thought it was just a broken stem valve but after Julian exam it was more than that . I was very impress with Johnny he was so professional and took time to hear my issue and explained to me exactly what was going on with my tire . Poor service. What's the point of making appointments if they won't honor your appointment. It's been already twice that I make appointments in advance and when I get to the location they tell me it won't happened because they are short on staff. I am not sure if it's poor management or maybe there is another reason but if they are short on staff they should not make those appointments and waste the customers time. read more

I went in for three things. Check engine light, oil light and AC not working. After spending over $2000 for repairs and returning there three times, my check engine light is on again and AC still doesn't work. Weird thing is when I had my car at the dealership for diagnostics, they told me my ac line needed to be replaced. Pep Boys never mentioned that and instead convinced me I needed a new compressor. I called and asked the guy who answered how much it would cost to have the two front shock absorbers on my truck replaced. Two Front Shocks. The guy on the phone said EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS. While walking to the desk many of the staff were laughing and talking but walked away and went back to work when I approached. I had to ask how my car for somebody to finally check it. I really don't want to give a rating to them, but it made me pick one. I took my vehicle in for an oil change and when they got done with the car my check engine light was on. They did not top off my other fluids, nor did they update the sticker of my next oil change. I felt it was a rush job, and I'm not quite sure if they even did it correctly. When I told them about my check engine light coming on, they told me it was a misfire with my spark plug, but I didn't have that problem when I brought it in. I have had multiple issues with my wheels purchased from pep boys not even a year ago. I have visited the homewood location multiple times regarding constant flat tire issues with my recently bought wheels. Every time I go to this damn location the MANAGER states that they do not have time to work with me and refer me to visit another location. That is just complete bullshit. Leaving work at 5:45 pm only to find 2 flat tires on my car! Last thing i wanted to deal with; and also all the other tire shops were getting ready to close. I called pep boys; and the staff answered the phone were very friendly. Also suggested for me to tow it or get a spare bc the tire was real flat. They waited for me to come in with the car, and they were able to change for me 4 tires. I've had so many flat tires before; but this experience was the best of them all. I called them and asked if they could put air in my tires. They said yeah, come on up. I pull up and no one comes for a while, so I tap on my horn in case no one saw me. Some rude man comes out, doesn't say anything, just looks at me. I asked if he could put air in my tires. He said "I'll let you use a hose." I asked if anyone was available to do it. He said "im on break." So rude and ridiculous. I won't be back. I told that man that I called before I came to see if this could be done and they said yes, to come on up. That was after he said he'd give me the hose and before he said he was on break. I said "oh okay, it's cool." When I was pulling away, he said he'd do it and I just said "no, it's cool," because I shouldn't have to go through all of that for assistance that I verified would be available beforehand. read more

I definitely walked into a circus show yesterday. Was out of town and called Friday to inquire about getting a set of tires for my car. They claim they had 3 tires and needed 1 from the crestwood location. So they put the order in and paid for them on Saturday. I get back in town Sunday night and call them Monday morning to inquire for the 2nd time that im set to come in and get the tires put on. Guy tells me come in around 3 i get there @3:20. As im coming in theres a couple standing by the door looking flustered. Guy name Aris at the desk who is also the manager knew i was coming in and that they had been paid for, even tho he wasnt who i spoke to on the phone earlier in the morning. He says i have a car or 2 in front of me and it should be about 1-2 hours. At about 4:30 a guy named Zach tells me my car is ready but it's the wrong car and I'm not who he's looking for. I tell him my car make, model, year and color. He leaves and doesn't come back until 6:48 just to tell me that they don't have the tires!!!!!!! My soul left my body. I asked him "so where are the tires?" He has no legit excuse but it's not Zack's fault he just puts tires on the car. But the manager or whoever i spoke with Monday morning or Saturday or even Friday failed to communicate with their coworkers to let them know of the sale and situation. So now i have to continue to go to work with bald tires. Complete big failure of communication, couldn't answer none of my questions nor could they even locate the tires that they sold me 2 days prior. They couldn't even offer me a different set of tires or a discount for my inconvenience and having me wait almost 3 hours for nothing. Mind you i traveled 20 miles just to get to this location because they claimed they had the tires I needed for my car. Will never come back for any reason nor will i even recommend or shop ever again with this location or Pepboys anywhere! I would give 0 stars but its not an option they saved yall read more

One of the tires will not stay full, been back 3 times, i was told by one of the men there "if this doesn't do it, just keep filling it up with air." Umm, no asshole. I didn't pay for a new tire just to fill it up every 3 fucking days. I wish i looked on here before going there, seems everyone has had a similar experience. The worst customer service I've ever received anywhere. Dropped off truck for oil change and ac diagnostics at 12 noon. Manager Rick stated it should be looked at around 1 or 2. I call at 340 and speak with rick and ask him has it been looked at yet? He tells me he's going to look into it and call me right back. 5 o clock comes and no call back from rick. So I call again. This person tells me I never authorized the work and they attempted to call me which was an outright lie. I not once received a call, voicemail, nothing. So they never looked at my truck. Basically wasted gas going there and dropping off truck, money on Uber getting home and more gas driving back to the shop in a separate vehicle. Waste of a day. On June 24 my car was stolen from Pep Boys Homewood location. One of th workers name Terry stated he saw a flat bed tow truck take it. I told him I never authorized anyone to pick up my car , and per Bryant they did not authorize a tow or give anyone permission to take my car. Homewood police was immediately notified, and also informed me that the village of homewood did not tow my car off the private lot of Homewood. A few days later on June 30th Officer Banuelos contacted me that a man had came into the station and stated a worker from Homewood Pep Boys told him he could take 3 cars and told the officer he would place my car to the side . When I got to Brothers metal recycling in harvey my car was totally destroyed ! Banged up, engine snatched out windows busted, Totaled ! Ive tried contacting pep boys only speaking a Manny a lead mgr with no info to give me, but he forwarded it the info to his mgr. I have not heard from any corporate mgmt from Pep Boys ! read more

My boyfriend and I had taken it to get aligned and balanced about 1-2 months ago, we were told we were going to get a call to let us know when it was ready . We never did , 3 hours passed & I called and they said it was ready . Me and my boyfriend go to pep boys & notice the car was still parked in the same spot as if it wasn't moved. We'll we paid , started pulling off & notice it was still unaligned & wouldn't go straight. We went back & they said they would do it another day , we asked for a refund the next day because we knew it was going to be the same thing . This was 1-2 months ago, & had yet to receive it !! We've gone 3-4 times & their excuse is "we don't have any cash in the cash registers , we will give you a call once we have some in there". On 10/31/2019, the day of the first big Chicago snow for the season I was panicking trying to find a place to replace my worn tires. I hadn't had new tires in years and my current ones were dry rot in the front. I called all over the place and everyone was full and/or about to close for the day. I finally called Pep Boys on Halsted and spoke with Jessi Ramos (Service Manager). He was so helpful, nice and patient with all of my questions about pricing and told me that I could come right over to get serviced. I have done business with this place on several, they hire anyone and probably equally harm your vehicle as they repair it. I would recommend no one go into this place for no reason ever they once let me drive out of there with three broken studs after telling me they repaired there.
