June 27, 2026 - went to pep boys and had brakes and rotors replaced all the way around. The very next morning, I get the yellow parking brake light with a yellow wrench below it all while my parking brake light was flashing red. I take it back to pep boys and was told that my actuator was bad. They took my actuator off and said that it was safe to drive but I couldn't use the parking brake. This was while we wait for the new actuator to come in. Fast forward to today July 11, 2026- I pay for the actuator to be replaced $303 after spending $1,100 for the brakes and rotors. Get back into my 2021 Chevy Silverado RST and the yellow parking brake light is still on with the yellow wrench below it. I go back inside to tell them that the light is still on and the assistant manager states that he didn't do any diagnostics and only made it so my truck was drivable. Then says that he can do diagnostics for ANOTHER $159! I just walked out. Screw those people. They suck! I went in with the lights on my dashboard on June 28, 2026 for brakes that THEY replaced and they didn't even fix the true issue. I will NEVER go back there and they won't get another penny from me. I had a leaky tire for several months, I would put air in it and in a few weeks it would need more air. I took it the dealership and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the tire. But I knew something was not right. So I took it to Pep Boys and within one hour I was in and out, and they found the issue. I made an appointment online for 10 a.m. to have my oil changed while I waited. When I arrived the manager asked if I was waiting while they changed the oil. I said yes and he said it would be at least two hours before it was finished. I explained I couldn't wait that long which is why I had an appointment. He very politely explained that people who make appointments online mistakenly believe the appointment time is actually an appointment for service at the designated time. It is not. Maybe they should rethink their online reservations system if the reservations don't mean much to the folks doing the work in the shop. read more

On 8/6 Scott assisted me with getting 2 NEW tires on my car. I brought the bad one in, he changes it and I take it to the car and put it on. I then drive back for him to do the second. Skip to today, 8/16, I get a blow out. Steel belt exposed and all. This is obviously one of the old tires right? Got to be, back to Scott I go. When I get there he only has one, okay no problem I'll take it! We carry the tire in, and I asked him twice this isn't the tire I got from you last week is it? He assures me by reading the date and then again when my husband points out there's a patch in the middle of the tread that it isn't indeed not the tire I bought 6 days ago. So I pay for the third and immediately head to get the 4th tire from somewhere else. When I go to show them what tire to replace, I see only 2 new tires. Invoice says exactly what kind, matches what he told me- but only 2 of my tires match. After calling and getting Scott on the phone and explaining what I'm seeing, he pretty much tells me we're not going to agree and he's sorry $50 is a lot for me, and told me to call back tomorrow to speak to the manager Andrew before hanging up! of update based on what Andrew says tomorrow. so far; I wouldn't recommend at all. read more

Stay away from here, I brought my car here because, the Ac was blowing hot air. I was first told it needed new A/c Seals on the high pressure and low-pressure Schrader valves. I was charged $515.18 for this service. About 3 days later the A/c was blowing hot air again. So, I returned the car back to them and was then told it was the Evaporator Expansion Valve. I was charged an extra @289.20. A couple of days after that, the A/c was blowing hot air again. So took the car back for a third time. I was told this time, the Expansion valve they installed was defective. So, they installed a new one. A few days later I was back at the shop. Same issue, I left the car with them for a 4th time. They now tell Me the repair need was a Evaporator core. They said the repair would take 6hrs and cost $900. I then got a call to come pick up my vehicle from the service manager Andew Schwartz, stating to come get the car because they didn't not feel confident in the technician who mis-diagnosed to do the repair on my vehicle. Save yourselves the time and frustration and take your car to another mechanic. read more

This place is a joke. I always do my own brakes, but decided for once I'd pay someone. braking had some grinding intermittently so I just assumed pads were shot. Go in and they tell me I need new pads AND rotors. I ask the guy if he's sure about the rotors because the truck only has 67,000 miles? I tell him never mind, the next morning I pull all 4 tires off and not only are the rotors good, but they're PERFECT. Pads didn't even need to be changed, it ended up being an abs issue. I ordered a set of wheels and tires I choose pep boys for them to get delivered I figured they would be able to install them I called them the morning after they were delivered so I could schedule a appointment for installation they told me to come get them they were unable to install them they went on telling me they weren't confident enough in there selfs to install tires without scratching my new wheels I had already given payment for wheels and tires to be mounted and balanced so I had to load up my wheels and tires in my car and find a tire shop open after 5 that cost an additional 300 dollars out of pocket I can't say I would recommend them for anything never had gone there always heard good things about them but they let me down my first time with them read more

I stopped in because I had a slow leak in one of my tires. Pep Boys took the time to put my car on the hoist and actually find the small hole and patch it! When I asked how much I owed, the gentleman told me "no charge...have a great day!". I couldn't believe my ears. A previous establishment gave me an estimate of $330 and said I needed 2 tires. I knew I didn't, I had just had my car serviced at the dealer a couple weeks earlier! I highly recommend Pep Boys in Mulberry,FL. The worst experience I have ever had within this industry. My appointment was for 12:30, for an AC Eval. I called around 4 to check on my car and they lied and said my car was next but would be done before closing. I called later, no answer. Went up there and found my car in the very spot I left it untouched. My only day off for a week, completely wasted! My kids and I still don't have air on these extremely hot days. If they didn't have time to get to my car they should have called, apologized and said so instead of lying and wasting my whole day and my money I spent to Uber home that day. Excellent service! David was a pleasure to talk to, and extremely helpful in discussing issues I was having with my car. I came in expecting them to be like everyone else but there was no pressure to fix what I didn't feel was necessary. He showed me everything that was going on and made me feel very comfortable. I definitely will be back for my car needs! 6/17 I needed to update my review as I had to return my vehicle after dye was put in to locate an oil leak. After my car was looked at I was told it would cost $800 to fix the leak. I brought my car back home and decided to monitor the oil leak myself. After a couple of weeks, I opened the hood to check the oil, and discovered that the connector to the oil tank was not even attached, leaving the oil tank completely exposed!!! The location was busy, but that's normal for a Saturday morning and I didnt have an appointment. The wait didn't bother me because I have my phone and earbuds so I can keep myself entertained. While traveling north through Ocala car began to shake. Exited highway and found pep boys for repair. On vacation we had our dog and my friend who is in a wheelchair. We waited five hours for two new tires as both had their belts slip. Needing a bathroom was impossible at this location as the bathroom had two stalls that we so backed up and overflowing they couldn't be used. However given life being busy I don't always have time. I have a hard time trusting businesses with my property, so I was hesitant to use a larger brand like pep boys. Let me be the first to say, I'm so glad I did. The staff at the south Lakeland location always care and always answer my questions throughly or explain what's needed or not. I haven't had to use their services for anything but elected things such as oil changes, tire installation and repair, exhaust installation and some other tire related items but each time their efficiency and pricing has pleasantly surprised me. I ended up at this Pep Boys when I'd made a pit stop in Lakeland while driving from Orlando to Tampa and my car hesitated while starting. I was alone, not close to home and nervous to turn my car off incase it wouldn't start again and I'd be stranded! I text my husband and he suggested trying a Pep Boys because they have a garage and are usually very helpful so he sent me the address of the nearest one. I went inside, Wilfredo Rivera the Sales Service Manager was there and came out right away to check out the car. He spent time turning the car on and off assuring it would restart for me. He explained what the issue could be (I was thinking it was the starter) but he said it's hard to say for sure it is the starter and he wouldn't want me to have to pay to have a new starter installed that I may not even need. He was helpful, professional, knowledgeable and generally friendly and interested in helping me! He gave me his card incase I had any more problems while I was in Lakeland. I had contacted them and made an appointment for 12pm to remove a screw from my tire. I had arrived about 5 minutes early and waited until someone helped me. The wait wasn't long and I dropped my key off. Along comes 12:30pm and nothing. Then 1:00pm and nothing. Finally 1:30pm rolls around and I had to ask for my key to be returned. I asked why they hadn't fixed my tire? I was told that the bays were full. So I asked them why schedule me at a time that you can't take me? He expressed that the jobs took longer to finish. Now I see all bays being cleared behind him. So it took them exactly 1.5 hours extra on every job in those bays? I find that hard to believe. All I can say is either their technicians are screwing the owner for extra money or the manager truly sucks managing their time. I left without the fix and brought it to Mavis. I had it done within 35 minutes of my scheduled time. read more

Wen I arrived all the employees were hanging out in the garage doing nothing. When one finally walked in to talk to me he told me they would not change my oil with my own oil I brought in. He called it a "liability issue" The Pep Boys on the North side has never had such issues and in fact they cut the price in half when you provide your own oil. I had scheduled my appointment online several days before but when I showed up I met with the manager who advised me that they didn't have my oil filter. He said they could order one from the auto parts store down the road. I agreed and left my car. Sure enough, less than an hour later my oil change was completed. I will never go to pep boys again, I took my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for them to check out a noise I kept hearing. They put my Jeep on the lift after about an hour they told me my transfer case is shot, hands me an outrageous quote like $2600 +\- I headed home with it. Few days later I pulled the front drive line off, noise was gone. I noticed a lot of play and the boot was torn pretty bad. Ordered one at AutoZone for $240 and 2 days later I installed it. Everything is good and that was a few months ago. Pep boys aren't looking out for a customer! There looking for your credit/debit card! I went there to get my "0riginal" brakes changed and after I mentioned that I couldn't believe the rotors were bad,no one offered to show me the "old" rotors.The rotors were original equipment and had never been machined.Another customer said his rotors lasted over 200,000 miles,if that is so then why were mine changed(116,000).Could it be they were merely put on a lathe and I was charged for new ones?I will never go back.BTW the bathroom was dirty and they don't give discounts to retired veterans. read more

"Coupons" somehow have a way of disappearing into "other costs" that aren't disclosed, but are assumed by you - as the customer - to be included. Really? An oil change for $80? Not happy with this place at all. I went in to have them check my air, which was advertised as a free air check. Only I had to pay $44.00 because they had to put it on the computer. Then they said my entire A/C system was bad. And it would cost over$1600.00 to get it fixed. Thank goodness my Brother in law encouraged me to get a second opinion. I took it to Levys Imperial tire. They did a dye test and put it on their computer. It was a hose leak. My A/C system is fine. $177.00 fix. Pep Boys tried to rip me off! I will never go there again.
