Sometime last month I was in the parking lot across the street from Pep Boys doing a random side quest and when I was leaving out that parking lot I heard something dragging/scratching under my car. I got out to check and the first time I didn't see anything , second time I saw a little plastic piece by my tire hanging that was most likely the source. When i went to see how much it was hanging it just completely fell off so I decided to let my car roll over to the Pep Boys parking lot to see if anyone was available. Really sweet guy named Josue took my car for a test ride and looked under but didn't see or hear anything which really just reassured me and saved me an unnecessary trip to my dealership. SO MANY SERVICE CENTERS - go elsewhere! Very unsatisfied with the service at this shop. I made an appointment for an oil change at 9am. It's 11:45 and I'm still waiting for my car. People have come after me for the same service and are now finished before me. Had an appointment in the morning today and had a good experience! Myron helped me with getting an oil change and the filters in my C-HR replaced. The Toyota dealership had recommended I get a transmission fluid change, but I wanted a second opinion at Pep Boys and Myron suggested they take a look at it before determining if I needed it yet or not. My car didn't need it yet, so ended up spending less than I expected! I was in and out in less than 2 hours, and just hung out in the waiting area while they worked on my car. They broke my oil cap and told me about it saying it was broken upon arrival when I was just under the hood 3 days prior and it wasn't broken. They didn't mention to me that the broke the washer fluid cap I noticed the next day. Came back after 2.5 hrs and car hadn't even been touched or looked at. Let me first start off by saying, the guys that work here and the assistant manager are GREAT!!! I came in for my battery replacement and to get my turn signal changed. They said they had my light in stock but then he couldn't find it. The assistant manager Lupe went out of his way called the other auto places and found which one had it , and said to just come by tomorrow and they can pop it in for me no problem. Absolutely amazing customer service by him and the techs. NOW, I get the part the next morning, and come back to the same pep boys as I just left the night before. Myron was the reason I walked out of Pep Boys and refused to go back in for any kind of service. I had scheduled to get engine and air filter replacements, and rear brake pad replacement. I already said what I needed, ready to throw some money at it; this should have been simple enough... But Myron felt the need to stand there and aggressively "educate" me over and over about rotor inspection and how people don't realize it will take hours... When I didn't understand something he was talking about or had a question, he would just condescendingly repeat himself about the rotor parts and say he is educating me. He confused, frustrated, and loudly patronized me enough for me to walk out and refuse to go back there again. I'll gladly give my money to somewhere else. Came in originally to have some brakes and rotors changed a couple of months ago. Mentioned our front brakes were recently replaced but were making a weird sound, so they checked them out as well. After the full brake inspection, I received a call from their Technician Lou, that wheel studs needed replacing on all wheels as the lug nuts were having trouble coming off and some studs could break. Gave the okay to replace, and when we picked up, even received a verbal confirmation from same tech that they were all replaced. Fast forward to this week, we go to a separate tire shop to get new tires replaced on vehicle, but tech stopped mid work to notify that our front wheel studs were stripped and hard to come off. Advised they could potentially break. From my understanding and their explanation this only happens over time, leading me to believe they were never changed. We came back to ask about it. Spoke to manager to manager Myron to explain situation. We came respectfully to voice our frustrations but were not met with understanding on the severity of miscommunication from the techs and front end people. Myron met with such a condescending attitude about the matter ,I was never asking for a handout, maybe an apology and some accountability but never received either. And on top of that, the quote we received was 3 times more than the tire shop down the street to replace. Done working with this place. High praise to Hugo tho, every interaction I had with him was pleasant and offered understanding and a solution. Get this man a raise and a promotion, maybe even Myron's job. read more

I called Pep Boys last Friday to schedule an appointment and spoke with Myron, who suggested that I come in Monday so that I wouldn't have a long wait. We scheduled for a noon appointment on Monday, and I arrived a few minutes early. This location is bustling so I do recommend making an appointment in advance. Myron was very kind and respectful and I did not get the vibe of many car repair places, who try to take advantage of women and overcharge. In fact, Myron offered me a small discount, since my wait was a bit longer than anticipated. He also answered some of my questions about my vehicle with kindness and consideration. Soon I'm going to get more serious car repairs done there too since the service and quality has been really good. Prices are also slightly below all the other locations I have called for quotes. I read through the reviews to see why people wrote reviews below 3/4 stars and they're invalid in my opinion. For anyone who has worked on cars, unfortunately some times things are slightly delayed by 30 mins to an hour. There are so many unforeseen variables. Also, customers need to understand they will not work on a vehicle that has too low of treads or other things wrong with the vehicle. They don't want to be liable if they witness a huge problem and then work on the vehicle as if they didn't see the problem. Only great things to say about this location. read more

Truly the most absurd customer service. It's almost as if they'll do anything to not take your service and your money. Myron the "manager" was extremely unhelpful. I had something fixed with them just a few months back, and the same issue happened again, but this time my car stalled in the middle of the street. Putting me and my kid in extreme danger. Myron's attitude was as if "it's not my problem; we can't help you". If something like that happened at my business I would have immediately got the customer in to fix the problem- so that they are not in any danger. Myron was asked for 2 tire replacements through assurant. He looked at 1 tire and said it was too damaged. He went back and told assurant all four of my tires were too damaged. I am not sure why he tried to charge me for 4 new tires, while looking at one, when i only asked for 2. He is dismissive, arrogant and apparently deaf. I went to 42nd and Western and found yet another customer there that Myron was attempting to belittle and cheat. I saved the paperwork for possible litigation. This type of behavior is not only fraudulent but also negligence. Myron, why did you try to charge me for 4 brand new tires, when i asked for 2? Assurant now believes that i have 4 poor tires, when Myron only looked at 1 tire. Disgusting. Update: assurant told me to go back and ask the "experts" to check my tires with a tred gauge and Myrons response was to call the police because he states i was "too emotional" and "this is house" so he refused to check my so called "damaged" tires. Even tho he already made a false claim to my insurance company that he did check them and they were too damaged to fix. I will be following up with the bbb and the ceo of pep boys since i am "too emotional" to receive honest customer service. The RUDEST Know It All Manager Myron Raised His Voice At Me Several Times During My Recent Visit For An Alternator Installation . The Mechanic Lost A Bolt During Installation Which After 4 Hours Of Searching Ended Up Going To Auto Zone For Another Bolt , Which Is Lodged Somewhere In My Engine :-( Once Installed They Brought The Car Out And Gave Me The Keys Without Checking Why Check Engine Lights Came On And Actually All My Warning Lights Came On . They Scanned Opened The Hood And Physically Struck Something Under The Hood And The Lights Finally Went Out . As Soon As I Drove One Block All Lights Came Back On And Have Remained On . It's nice to have this type of service in the neighborhood. Had a slow leak & the gas stations in the area had faulty air machines. Went here & they very happily put air in my tires. On the last tire we found a nail. I made an appointment online for the next morning (kudos!), went in, left my car, walked to the grocery store & before I got back, a text came saying my car was teady. If I could leave no stars I absolutely would. Firstly when I walked in I was greeted by another customer, not an employee. During our conversation I learned the issue they were having was their car had been sitting at this location for 2 days and had yet to be worked on. (Not comforting information to hear when you are taking your car in for service.) But after about 5 minutes or so later when someone finally came out (Ricardo) I told him what I needed and he told me he wouldn't be able to assist me at all. Confused, I explained to him that I had just spoke to someone who told me to be there by 5:30 (which was only about 45 minutes prior) and he blatantly called me a liar and told me I must've called the wrong place because he had been manning the phones and he would've never said that. After a brief back and forth I had to pull out my phone show him the time stamp and redial the number, as the phone began to ring Ricardo still took no accountability. In fact he began to be even more rude, defensive, and hostile when I asked him for a simple apology for calling me a liar. Even after I tried to sympathize with him while expressing my understanding of how it's probably been a long day and he just dealt with an unsatisfied customer (whom was very understanding about the mix up if I may add) but regardless I wanted to show grace, explaining to Ricardo that you may have a lot going on. I also told him it's very disheartening to see people with jobs in customer service and show such lack of care for the customer experience and to show a bit more gratitude that he at least has a job because many people are jobless. His response "Don't pretend to know me, you don't know nothing about my day and I don't care about having a job." It is now my mission to escalate this to the highest authority because I strongly feel people like Ricardo do not need to be in customer service. Lupe and Ricardo were accommodating despite a slight hiccup for an oil change. I recommend calling versus online scheduling and double checking that the service you're looking for is available. When I go to fast oil change franchises I notice leaking, or I'll be told by the next mechanic that the screw wasn't tightened properly. I was tempted to learn DiY before giving it another shot. I came in for brakes. Purchased the brakes in-store. And had to come back a total of three times and both times my car was perfectly fine this last time a control arm was broken on my car and the manager Myron said to take it to the dealership then he will cut me a check. The first set of brakes was cracked. The second brake still making the noise brought them in for the first time. Charged me 600 something for brakes that probably wasn't even changed. Gotta give Pep Boys 5 stars cuz they saved me roughly $300 and saved me from getting scammed!! I went to 3 places trying to get my headlights replaced- mine were yellowing, cloudy and were probably the same original ones that came with the car! I already had purchased a pair but just needed them installed. All three places told me that in order to install them they needed to remove the bumper which would take several hours and quoted me prices between $250 and $400!!! Sadly, I believed them and had made an appointment to get it done- then one of my blinkers went out. I pulled into Pep Boys and asked if they could help and out of curiosity asked how much to just swap out the headlights completely? I was preparing myself for a crazy number and they said $100!! I asked if they could do it same day and the guy was like sure. I go home knowing for sure they was gonna call me and up the price once they realized they had to remove the bumper but that never happened!! When I went to pick up my car I asked if they needed to take the bumper off and the guy laughed. He was like no, the mechanic had the headlights out and installed in less than an hour. I told him about the 3 quotes I'd received and he was like be careful. Some places try to rip you off and tell you crazy things just cuz you're a woman!
