They got rid of their parts store. They no longer sell any car parts or anything. They only change oil and tires, Their website says nothing of this. 10-9-21 was the last time I will go there. They no longer let you provide your own oil and filter for the oil change. Their website also says nothing of this. The parts store is gone. It is basically a jiffylube oil change style place. They are VERY restrictive and no longer flexible.. The staff was not friendly either. There were four men staring at me in a cold poker face manner. The had an attitude, as If, they could care less. Frankly, they gave me the creeps. I would not trust my car there anymore. This place was really nice before they ruined it with their new monopolizing format. I've been coming to this location for about 6 years. It quickly became my go to place for automotive needs, especially oil changes. They also have the Pep Boys rewards program that lets you earn points towards a coupon for $$ off products or services, and includes a few free minor services, like tire rotation. These little things made me a repeat customer, and plus the fact that it's a few minutes away from home didn't hurt. My recent experience changed my mind. I needed another oil change, and knowing how they get booked up, I logged on to their website to make an appointment. They offered a coupon for conventional oil change for $24.99, which is fair. (many other local places do it for $20) but since PB was the closest, and they have a waiting area with Wifi & a TV, I chose this. The apt. was for 10AM. I arrived on time. After the manager printed out the estimate for me, I mentioned I have a coupon for $25. which he said to show it when I pay after the work was done. I also asked how long it would take. 1 hour to 1 hr & 15 min., he said. Fine. I had plenty of time to keep my lunch appointment, which was at 12 noon. Sitting in the waiting area,, I noticed a lady getting up repeatedly to check on her car. That wasn't a good sign. After 1 1/2 hours (11:30), I expected my car to be done already, so I got up to check and saw my car still parked exactly where I left it when I arrived. Approaching 1hr & 45 min., I finally noticed my car is no longer in the parking lot, but when I asked the service manager how much longer, he couldn't locate my car. About 5 minutes later, he returned and said, " They're working on it now." Wow! Is that supposed to make me happy? Around noon, he calls my name and said my car is done. I hand over my coupon and he charges me $40. Wait, the offer was $25. isn't it? No ... it isn't apparently. Because there's the fine print. He charged extra for oil because my engine takes more than the 5 quart limit, and he charged extra for the oil filter bcause the offer has a $3.29 limit on the filter, and mine cost $10. Why didn't he mention any of this when in the beginning when I first told him about the online coupon? I've had many oil changes there in the past, and the previous service mgr. and his team never charged me extra, they even provided me w/ a coupon voluntarily. It's that level of friendly service that made me a loyal customer. I didn't see the point in arguing. After 6 years of giving them business, buying a total of 8 tires, 3 batteries, countless car care products ... our business arrangement ends here. All because he chose to nickel & dime me so his department can report better sales. Yes, that's how it works people. I know a few service managers for car dealerships and other auto stores. Their job is to "recommend" services and parts to increase their sales. He told me I needed to replace some parts urgently, and it would cost $618.00. I then took my car to 2 other local mechanics and they both said Pep Boys is crazy, the parts in question can last another few years. So to summarize: An oil change (WITH an appointment) that should have taken no more than 30 min. took over 2 hours, forcing me to cancel my lunch apt. A $25. coupon offer that ended up costing over $40.00. Even after I paid and the mgr. told me my car is ready outside, I still had to wait another 10 min. in the parking lot because .... yep, car was still on the lift & wasn't ready. Additionally, the service mgr. still tried to get more $$ from me by scaring me about the urgency. I do not recommend doing business with them. There are dozens of auto places in or near Monrovia w/ shorter wait times and better prices (and better Yelp reviews), and car care products are cheaper at Target or Walmart, which is only 5 minutes away. What happened to the lady that was waiting with me? She brought in her own 4 tires to have them installed. Including mounting & balancing, it should be no more than 45 minutes. She was there since 9am, over 3 hours! I left before she did. notes: Under the rewards progam, tire puncture repair should be free, but they end up charging $10.00 ... so it's not free. Their promotion of buying 3 tires and getting the 4th free: You are REQUIRED to buy their tire warranty.... which is pure profit for Pep Boys. Do not trust their appointment system. I went in today because the head lights and DRL for my car needed to be changed. I know absolutely nothing about cars and had no idea what I was supposed to buy or do. The second I entered the shop, I was greeted by the manager, Tim, who quickly came to help me. He looked up the kind of lights I needed, walked all the way to my car to make sure we had everything we needed (it turned out one of my high beam lights were out too- something I wouldn't have noticed if he wasn't nice enough to suggest doublechecking). Mind you, my car was not parked too close so it was definitely him going out of his way by offering to come check on it for me!! Afterwards, I asked if their repair team may be able to swap out the lights for me (again, I don't know what I'm doing with cars at all). They said they were really busy, and would be willing to do it but I would have to wait since they had other customers before me, which I totally understood. I decided to just pay and leave and Tim rang me up. When he found out the team wouldn't be able to change my lights, he offered to come out and do it himself- which is just above and beyond! The customer service has greatly improved at this store and Tim is an excellent addition to the team here. I will definitely be back the next time I need something!! read more

Had previously taken other vehicles in for minor work and the service was adequate. But it looks like there may be some new staff now and my most recent visit was definitely not a great one. Wait time just to speak with someone was long. The guys seemed to be pre-occupied with the computers and took about 5 minutes just to tell me they'd be right with me. Dropped off my vehicle for a synth. oil change. Got a call a few hours later recommending I get new tires. I declined and asked to just have the oil change and tire rotation done as initially requested. Once the car was ready (I had to call in myself after holding for 5+ minutes) I waited in line AGAIN for a good while. Paid for the service and was given the wrong amount of change... Then I was given the wrong work invoice so we had to confirm I had the right key and paid the correct amount. OK... Mistakes happen. As I drive away I notice there is no sticker on my windshield indicating when my next service is due. In fact... My OLD sticker is STILL on the window. I then get out to check my tires. (Ihave a bad scratch on my front driver side rim) The wheel has NOT moved. It's in the same spot as it was when I took it IN to the shop. Not cool, Pep Boys. I stopped going to the dealership after a bad experience and this is the 2nd time in a row now I've had issues taking my vehicle in for service. Need to find a reputable and HONEST mechanic now... 5 stars for friendliness however i did have a negative experience with the actual service done to my car. Got an oil change here because of a $20 discount I found on line. Everything originally seemed fine and the guys even rotated my tires in the pattern that I preferred. But the next morning, I woke up with a big oil stain on my driveway. This prompted me to check my oil level and saw that my level was way beyond the max level. I took my car back in and explained the problem. I was told that the oil plug gasket was not in good shape which caused the mess on my drive way. They also confirmed they had accidentally added 6 qrts of oil instead of the 5.4 that was required. An hour later, I had a new oil and a new gasket in my car and drove away. I was late for work and annoyed that the service was not done correctly the first time and upset about the big oil stain I now have on my drive way. read more

Walked into the aisle with the brake fluid - nope didnt have what I was looking for (ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid). I went in for replacement wipers for my son's Honda CR V. The women at the counter gave me the part numbers and directed me to the proper aisle. As I was checking out Hector offered to install the wipers. Hector met me at my car and installed the front wipers. As he tried to install the rear wiper he discovered it didn't have the proper adapter for my CR V. I was promptly refunded for the rear wiper. I kept going here because of how convenient it is. I've been living right down the street so it was nice being able to just walk home while they would do repairs. Now that I'm moving, and I know I won't be using them again, I'll leave my review. The good is that they've always done a decent job doing maintenance on my car and the price is usually reasonable. The bad is that they are chronically understaffed, will take their sweet ass time at every step, and will pretend like you don't exist until they are ready to take your money. It's sad because they weren't that bad 3 years ago. For the past couple years, things have really gone downhill. There have been so many times where I've sat sat there waiting for seemingly no reason. Maybe they figure I'm more likely to buy windshield wipers or their stale candy if I'm forced to spend more time in their store. Every time I use them, there's a different guy handling the service desk, always exasperated and clearly hating his life, multitasking several things at once. If you're lucky, one of the dudebros running the cash register might sell you some M&Ms while you wait. More likely, all 3 dudebros will crowd around the same register to "help" an old guy find the right spark plug. And they WILL pretend like you don't exist. Why the hell do 3 employees need to help out one person? (each of these guys could easily be replaced by a computer or an app) Their waiting area is pretty funny, too. There's a TV with no remote playing obnoxious Idiocracy-esque daytime shows, and they don't even have a real water dispenser but a plastic garden shed with stale jugs of water from Walmart! That cracks me up. They do have a Keurig coffee maker, but I don't drink coffee. They won't screw up your vehicle, but that's all you'll get. I don't recommend that you go here unless you're like me and it's close enough that it's just convenient. Actually, nevermind that. In the age of Lyft, you might as well go somewhere better and get a cheap ride home. And what are you doing going to Pep Boys for an oil change? Here's a tip: Go to Oil Stop, which is about a mile away east on Huntington. You won't have to get out of your car, it'll be done in 20 minutes or less, you'll *exist* to them and be treated like a human being, and you can actually see them put in new oil and a filter. I've never been ripped off by Oil Stop. Think it's too pricey? I'm guessing that's because you have the misguided belief that paying for regular oil is going to save you money. I bet you also think that you've got to change your oil every 3,000 miles. Here's another tip for you: Go to Oil Stop, have them replace your oil with *synthetic*, and don't go back for a year. You'll save money and the synthetic oil will be better for your engine. read more

Brought a tire here to replace one of my tires. A little on the pricey end for a no name brand, but previous my brother got a tire here so I like it when the shoes match. There was a long wait on a sunday, but I didn't mind. My boyfriend and I just walked home. When we got there, we noticed we had the key to the rims. I had the worst experience recently at this branch. I believe it was the mistake of one of the staff members and they refused to acknowledge it. My car has locks on the rims and I always keep the unlock knob in my trunk. After they fixed my flat tire, the worker did not put the lock back at the trunk where he got it. Exemplary Service (Retails) My car's AC was blowing cool air and needed refrigerant. After watching Youtube, the job seemed easy enough, but it is never that easy. The hose from the refrigerant container couldn't be securely attached the AC valve. I thought the problem could be caused by the fact that it was an European car. Went back to the store to see if I needed an adaptor. Manager Gary was so nice that he took the time going out to the parking lot to eyeball the problem. Absolute 10 stars if I could... Had a dead battery jumped the car and brought it down to them. On a Saturday afternoon late, got new battery and oil change and they were done in about an hour. Price was fantastic, Steven at the front desk was awesome. Chris when we picked up the car even give us a recommendation on where to get a rim repaired... The techs name on the sheet was Danny. Perfect handoff of the car back to us, no scuffs on the door sills or doors, no fingerprints on the hood, no scuff marks or any sign of leaning over the car or anything. A rare occurrence getting a car back from a repair/service shop that doesn't show grease or overflow of a fluid or scuff marks on your door sill or door. Far better than Rusnak Audi did on every time we ever brought the car to them. Always an issue. Couldn't be happier... Will definitely be back, and very highly recommend for the services they provide (basic stuff like oil, tires, brakes, etc). read more

Poor customer service. I had very bad experience when i was returning Bosch Auto battery. There is a guy called Juan, he just said i dont see the transaction on our system. I provided all the info in order to help him finding the transaction. I am not really sure if it was the guy's fault or the system's. However, his attitude and lack of skills really frustrated me. I brought my car in for a battery change and they broke my key while trying to remove it from the ignition. By doing that, they also broke my ignition and only agreed to replace the key. Supervisor/manager Tim has employees on staff he is telling to ring up at the register. He begins to assist me with looking up the oil filter I need for my car. He prints out a receipt and hand it to me saying "I gave you four options on there, it's going to be on the back row to your left." At that point I just walked out. The receipt has a sku number and brand. I am not about to go through an inventory of oil filters looking for skus to find the right size filter because Tim is too "supervisor/management " to come from behind the desk. I've been here for 3 hours just replacing a battery which I was told would take about 40min. Very poor service!!!!

This location sold us a 5-quart jug of USED oil (Castrol). Unfortunately, it wasn't discovered until most had been poured into the car. The clerk took one look at the black sludge that remained in the jug and was quick to replace it (and the filter). The whole oil change had to be done a second time to get that junk out of the engine. You'd think they'd at least offer to change the oil after causing a problem like that. Confusing entrance, under staffed, poor customer service. It took 2.5 hours to change my battery. It would have taken three if I wasn't asking every 5 minutes what was taking so long. They told me (and everyone knows) a battery change should be relatively quick. It wasn't until I asked about the status after waiting patiently for an hour that they said "we are waiting for the technician to get back from lunch." It was 5pm. Correct customer service would be to tell me it might take a while when I checked in, and I simply would have gone elsewhere or come back another time. Customers deserve for their time to be respected. I received a survey of my experience from pep boys, offering discounts for my time to complete it. I bought my car battery and in less than a year it stopped working. I took in for inspection and they admitted that the battery had a cell error but apparently they count find me on the system and they didn't honor the warranty and had to go to o rally's and get a brand new one put fo pocket. I also stopped another day because my was overheating and they couldn't help me with coolant at all. Horrible , horrible experience with pep boys ! Never go there! I don't recommend it! read more

I gave this place a few chances because it's close to my house and actually was thinking of getting my truck service there. I am so disappointed by the service here. I went in for an oil change and after driving my car for 5 days noticed it got hot and was leaking oil tremendously. I took it back in and was told by the service manager rich that the guy who did the oil change didn't know what he was doing and matched this part to this part but was supposed to match this part to this part. Left it overnight and in the morning got a call that I needed a new radiator amongst other stuff. They caused this with a simple oil change went wrong and took no responsibility for the damage they created. I had no leaks prior to taking it in. Let me preface this by saying my car is a unique case that requires actual above average knowledge in order to service and I cannot speak to how they do for a regular person with a regular car coming in off the street. They are probably fine if what you need is super basic. Came here on a Sunday to try to get replacement rims in a smaller size ordered so I can put wider walled tires on my car. Rims are unable to be ordered on Sundays - no problem, they will call me tomorrow with a quote. Monday rolls by, no quote. I call them back and ask for my quote. Oh sure, we will call and get right back to you. Still nothing. Call again on Tuesday to the same deal. Do you guys not want my money? Go back in the store later that week to temporarily get a replacement tire in the same size so I can get off the donut. Same person serves me - they recognize me and my car because I drive a post-apocalyptic Mad Max build and I was there less than a week ago. They obviously know they failed to help me before and do not address it. Can I get a new tire put on my rim? They don't even have the tool that can remove my lugnuts because they lost it. Thanks for wasting a whole bunch of my time! They can't even replace my tire for me. 2nd star is because they sent me to Midas down the street, who had me in and out in a few hours and were super helpful and knowledgeable. read more
