I always come here always for oil change and tires.. came for oil change, tune up 352$ . Okay a lot but whatever I'm not going to do it myself so I'll just pay for it. I ended up bringing my car Toyota Prius to the dealer a day later becuz my oil light came on, and a emergency light came on the day after I went to pep boys. I got scared and thought I had a short or something, becuz I never have a problem at pep boys. Come to find out the dealer said I had absolutely no oil in my car , I believed them. I called pep boys to confirm my service I got prior and told them what dealer said. I was very polite, the guy who answered was defensive and rude. What the hell dude . Wish I could give zero stars. I do NOT recommend anyone to bring their beloved vehicle to this location, Period. I took my Toyota to the regular maintenance appointment at the dealership and they pointed out one of the tires had to be changed asap. The dealership wanted to charge me prime for the new tire so I decided to look around for something more affordable and found the pep boys on Colorado. I was embarking on a week-long road trip late that night and they were able to change my tire. When I was taking off for the road trip I saw the vehicle alert come up and there was no sensors to measure the psi of the tires .. i called pep boys the next morning and alerted them and they basically waved me off. If not for my persistence they wouldn't care and so I got them to schedule an inspection when I come back from the trip. When I got to pick the car after they installed the broken sensor ( which they broke ) I asked "so what did happen ?" And the RUDE RUDE RUDE dude said " well we did a courtesy to you and replaced the broken sensor " I immediately said " you guys didn't do any courtesy to me, you broke the sensor while changing tire" he then raised his voice on me and said " you brought the car in like that last week " I replied by saying " hell no, and I have a proof from Toyota that they did a full inspection just before I brought the car to you and all was fine". The dude that works there once again waved me off and said " I'm not interested in seeing that document and you can leave now" He, at first also didn't hand me the receipt of the work they did / the sensor repair... I had to ask for it, like they were trying to hide some proof of repair, but i ain't stupid, so I asked for it. I did ask for some compensation for the trouble they put me thru ( some nice discount for next tire change could have been nice, since we went to a long road trip and were in the loom of not knowing the tire pressure for the 3k miles we drove) but yet again the guy just basically showed me the way out and was extremely rude. Considering this awe full experience at this pep boys location I fully hearted suggest readers here to skip this store. I brought my car in to have the headlights buffed out. The results were really bad. There are very visible scratch lines as if they skipped the last few phases of the buffing process. They also left buffing cream smeared all over the front hood of my car. For $50, this was NOT worth it! read more

I came in at 12:40 for one replacement tire. I spoke to Pedro by the phone before I came in. The place was not busy at all. My estimated wait time was 2:15. I walked around town refreshing the app I got thru text and it was never updated. I showed up at 2:15 my car was in the same spot, not busy. I asked why it wasn't worked in yet they said it was still on que. Pedro then estimated about another hour I walked home called after the hour, and was told my Prius was ready. I got to the store and it had not been replaced. They serviced a completely other Prius that was not even there before mine. I am still here waiting after Pedro said it was his mistake. Took my car to pep boy for breaks. And the service received today was nothing like the service in the past. I left there feeling as if they just wanted to take my money and upscale me on a bunch of products. Once my car was finaihed I never received a call telling me the car was ready. I made an appointment for the service and when I got there the person who checked me in didn't have any information on the service I made an appointment for. The information for the rebate on the service wasn't given to me. When I left and I was checked out by the manager. Who didn't seem to be very helpful. I paid for the lifetime tire alignment. Over a year later I dropped off my car for an alignment. They called me 30 minutes later saying that they cannot do an alignment because my tire treads were poor. They tried selling me new tires when I knew my tires were good! I took my car to the Pep Boys in Moreno Valley and they did the alignment and said that my tires were okay. I am disappointed that they tried to deceived me. I actually called the Pep Boys location in Rancho Cucamonga and they also told me that an alignment could be done. read more

Bought four new tires from Pep Boys less than a year old,had problem with one tires air pressure. Brought in several times even leaving my car a full day, each time I was told nothing was wrong and that maybe the street I lived on was bad. Went to another tire place and they did tire test immediately and found two holes, one was patched and other could not be repaired. They did not want to honor their warranty and lied multiple times. Go to American Tires, you won't have any problems with them.As a female you don't want problems like this, constantly having to put air in your tires. read more

I stopped by this place yesterday trying to get some engine oil because my car was literally running on no oil. When I went into the store, somebody greeted me right away and helped me to find some engine oil for my car. The staff, after understanding my situation, advised me to talk to their service department to see if it would be cheaper to get an oil change instead. I went to the service department and Jose greeted me after a short wait. He was very patient in listening to me and after knowing my situation, he was telling me that they were really busy and wouldn't be able to finish the oil change till closing. I had to be somewhere and I could not wait till then. He walked me to my car and tested the oil level in my car and it was literally none. Jose was nice enough to walk me to the engine oil section again and helped me choose 2 quarts of engine oil. I paid for it and he even helped me to put the oil in my car. He checked the level again to make sure my car would be alright before letting me drive off the lot. He is super professional, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend anyone who needs some help with their car. Jose, thank you very much for your help! read more

Went here to get a Lyft inspection. I brought my car here last year and had no problems. This time, however, was different. After VISUALLY inspecting my breaks was told that they couldn't pass me because I needed new rear breaks because I need a .5 to pass and I was apparently at a .4. Evidently, the service tech's prescription glasses are so good they give him the ability to visually tell the difference between .4 and .5 (I need to see his optometrist). Keep in mind, I've had my car for one year and according to the tech my front breaks are "in great shape." I told him no thanks as I didn't believe that my breaks needed to be replaced. I took my car to Honest-1 in Diamond Bar, where they thoroughly inspected my breaks, and learned that my rear breaks DO NOT need replacing right now and I've got at least 10,000 miles on them before they need to be replaced. If you're a woman don't bring your car here because they'll try to sell you things you don't need. If you're a Lyft driver in need of an inspection, don't bring your car here because they'll make something up to get you to by something you don't need in order to get a "Pass." read more

I schedule a appointment online. It was so easy as 123. Everything went really easy I was in and out in no time and I'm very happy with my new battery. this is the worst place I have ever been to for car repairs. I was taken advantage of and cheated. And I was treated like I was stupid. I took my car to be looked at because the Coolint was leaking/draining from car. I was told by customer service it was the reservoir that was leaking. it was replaced along with serpentine belt that was told to me was bad. the next day I went to pick car up and they told me along with the reservoir, the thermostat assembly and pump needed to be replaced. That all 3 things were wrong with it. and it would be another $2000 dollars along with the 600.00 I owed them for the belt and reservoir. i asked, "why did u replace the reservoir, couldn't you see what problem was before you replaced something that probably was not the problem??" they said, "we were sure it was the problem, but we couldn't for sure know until we replaced the reservoir." AND THEY COULDNT GIVE ME THE PARTS THEY TOOK OFF MY CAR. WHICH BY LAW THEY HAVE TO. THEY SAID THE PARTS WE ALL BROKEN UP IN THE TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i paid the $600, took it to dealer. Dealer told me, after i describer the problem to them, that the only thing that needed replacing was the pump! NOT THE RESEVOIR, NOT THE THERMASTAT ASSEMBLY! I WROTE COORPERATE OFFICE. DEAD. Went online to PepBoys to find a new battery for my car. The Pasadena store listed that it was in stock. Went there when they opened the next day but they could not find the battery. When they did find the only one and installed it, without checking it first of course, it was Dead. The battery was manufactured in December of LAST YEAR. Called Monrovia store, their 2 batteries in stock. Dead. Manufactured in November of LAST YEAR. Temple City. Dead. So that means the entire stock of batteries for my Subaru from ALL the Pep Boys in the San Gabriel Valley are old and dead. What a great business model. Wasted two hours of my morning. The only reason to shop at a store like Pep Boys is for their in stock stuff of batteries and tires which you often need same day. All the rest of their junk you can get for a better price on Amazon. I come here for a oil change. There's nothing wrong with the service but the wait time is ridiculous. This is the 3rd time I've been here and it always takes way too long. I set an appointment right when they open and 2 and a half hours later they finally got my car in. Plus it's still going to take another 45 to 1hr just to get the oil change done. What's the point in setting an appointment if you have to wait 2 hours just to get your car in. I could understand if it's a walk in but an appointment should be faster. They should probably not over book cars if your going to make people wait that long. I'll probably start shopping around now. read more

Needed a patch on my tire. *Made an online appointment for same day via website. *Got an email confirmation. "Your appointment is on the books and we're looking forward to seeing you..." *Arrived at appointment time and was told I should have called to confirm. They could not help me that day. I rescheduled 2 days later. *Arrived at new appointment time. Was told it will take 90mins to do a simple patch. *72mins later was told they could not fix tire because it was run while flat. I needed a new tire. I said ok but will purchase elsewhere. *They put spare tire on. Charged me (I asked for what. They accidentally patched the old tire before realizing not fixable. So charge was for patch) Pro: They're by the book? Kinda? They've got A/C in the waiting room. They're conveniently located. Con: They have poor time management. There mechanics seem overworked. I'm kind of upset and annoyed that I've wasted so much time. I'm glad they're business is doing so well, but they seem to be overloaded/swamped with work. I don't think they need my business. I still have them 4 stars, but wish I could give them 3.5. They're not very organized, I felt...unsatisfied...when I left. read more

I really want to give this location a 4 or 5 stars but Pedro is the worst!! Took my car hear because I needed an oil change and my traction control light is on. Dropped my car off with Noemi and when I went back to pick it up Pedro was there (eye roll). I asked him about common questions pertaining to my car and all his answers are "I don't Know". He is so unhelpful and just wants to get you out of his face. This is not the first time I have had to deal with his unpleasantness but just shook it off. They refuse to issue me a refund, bounced me around phone numbers and no one is assuming responsibility. Was literally told to do what you have to do. Irresponsible and incompetent. I filed a claim with my credit card company and who knows how long it will take for me to reclaim my money. Stay away from them. They have zero customer care or service. read more

I've been coming here for a total of about 10 years. I'm sure I've spent more than $10,000 here; not because it's expensive but because I've had so many services performed. I've had everything from simple services to head gasket repair and engine rebuild. I've been bringing my '95 Honda Civic and my mom's '05 Honda Civic. It's mostly been a great experience and I have peace of mind that many of the parts have a good warranty. The manager, Jeff, is a great person and he's gone above and beyond for me several times throughout the years. I admit I can be somewhat of a pain in the ass because I am particular and I am always concerned something will be misdiagnosed. If I've ever had an issue, it's always been resolved quickly. If Jeff wasn't there, I most likely would go elsewhere. There were a couple years recently in which I tried a few other mechanics but I had a few issues with all of them in some way or another. It was kind of like being in a good relationship but wanting to see what else is out there. But I saw what else is out there and now I'm back at Pep Boys and I'm pretty sure I'll be loyal for now on. :) To avoid waiting a while, I suggest that you schedule an appointment with them ahead of time. You can do it online or by phone. Also, check their website for service coupons because it will surely save you some money. read more

I went in for wiper blades. The gal at the register looked up my vehicle and told me which sizes to purchase. I grabbed the nicer ones which had a discount and went to the register. The manager came over and rang up the blades. I asked if the discount was there and he said it was a mail in. I hate mail in rebates. The guy said he would apply his store discount which would be the same. What a nice guy! He then told me to take the blades to service and they would put them on for free. Such a deal. I went to service and a nice young gal who was changing tires helped me out. She had the blades changed in a minute. Pep Boys has helped me learn a valuable lesson: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Unfortunately they've taught me this lesson more than once. But I can assure you it will never happen again. Time and again I was wooed by their coupons and discounts thinking that I was being a smart consumer but in reality I was just devaluing my vehicle by allowing these people to work on it and give me advice. From damaged parts (oil pan drain plug stripped - found this nice surprise the next time I got my oil changed elsewhere - had to be drilled out) to tools left sitting on my engine when I drove away to putting THE WRONG PARTS ON MY CAR (literally the wrong parts). This place has inept mechanics and customer service reps who truly don't care. At this point I wouldn't even trust these jokers to change a tire. Everything they put on your car will be cheap crap and all the work they do will be poor quality. You will pay for it in the long run when others have to fix their work or your car breaks down because of their mistakes. Avoid this place like the plague. Pay the extra money for quality parts and mechanics who know what they are doing. read more

I've been going here for years - mostly for parts to do my own work, but also bigger service jobs like new Alternators, timing belts, etc. I've always been very happy with this location - until about two weeks ago. I've been a 5-star rater on PepBoys, but I'm temporarily dropping one star until my next experience. To start from the end of the last visit, Chris did a fantastic job making right of a wrong done to my wife. Two weeks back, it was pouring rain and she was sick. For the second time in a week, AAA had to come out to jump our SUV. They ran a report and stated that the battery was bad. I trust AAA as they almost always have run the reports and given the thumbs up - our fault, light left on, etc. So I sent my wife after she drove 1 hour to her doc, and an hour back. Raining cats and dogs, she went in and explained the issue. We were either willing to buy a new battery or get the new pro-rated one if warranty were remaining. This battery was replaced once due to premature death. I had no issues, my wife did. She was told by one of the mechanics that she could not replace this battery as it was "good". "Batteries don't work like that" he stated. She asked what she had to do and was told that they can't replace a "good" battery. As this progressed, or digressed, I called O'Reilly and bought a new battery online as I already felt bad for her. she left PepBoys and went to O'Reilly's where they came out in the rain, and replaced the battery in 5 minutes. After drafting a fairly stern letter to PepBoys, I got a reply the next day. I got an apology, and they offered to make good if I came in. I dealt with Chris, whom I believe to be the Ass't Mgr. He was extremely helpful and polite, and offered an apology to my wife for the experience. I was given a refund and I considered this a fair resolution. I hope to never have to write a letter like that again. I enjoy using this location and I have always found the staff helpful and polite. I'd like to give the 5th star back soon. read more

I've been to this Pep Boys a couple times to have my oil changed. The employees were always polite, the work was always done in a reasonable amount of time, and the price I was charged was always roughly the same as any other place. So far so good, right? Welp, recently I visited again with a friend to help pick up her car after she had her oil changed. As she was being given back her keys, she was told the mechanics reported that: 1. Her brake pads were down to 2/32" to 3/32" (about 1.5mm to 2.5mm) and would have to be replaced. 2. The brake pads had worn down so much that the rotors were damaged and would also have to be replaced (instead of just resurfaced). We didn't take them up on their recommendations and retrieved her car. Then we checked the brake pads and rotors ourselves. They looked fine. Afterwards, we read the service invoice they gave her. It said their brake pad gauge read "green," which on any standard gauge means "no replacement necessary." So their own service invoice said the brakes were fine. Here's my theory: this Pep Boys will straight-up lie to you in order to sell you something you don't need. Looks like I'll be going somewhere else for oil changes from now on. read more
