I would give them ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE! My brother got a FVP Platinum series AGM battery 16months ago. He was having battery issues so I tested it for him and it came back as a bad battery. I told him to take it down to Pep boys since it has its 30month free replacement. He took it down they tested it, they agreed it was a bad battery. They further told him they don't carry that battery anymore and upsold him on a lower end interstate gold battery that's flooded and not AGM for $26. I'm pretty sure free replacement means free replacement. But they upsold him and gave him a crappier battery. He then brought it to me so I can reinstall in his vehicle and the car wouldn't start. The battery has a date code of 1/26. I had to hook it up to a charger for sometime to get it brought back up. The initial voltage said 11.9v and was at 30% capacity. Pep Boys charged me over $600 for an oil change and an AC "recharge" because they said that was why my AC was taking too long to cool. Two days later, the AC stopped working again. On top of that, my car suddenly had a humming noise after their service. When I took it back, they changed their story and said I actually had a leak, and that the humming noise was "probably" a transmission problem. Then they wanted to charge me another diagnostic fee. So after spending over $600, my AC still didn't work, my car came back with a new noise, and their solution was to ask for even more money. Completely unacceptable service. I brought my 2017 Chevy Camaro to Pep Boys on Peoria and 75th Avenue due to starting issues. After their inspection, I was told the alternator was bad and needed to be replaced. Trusting their professional diagnosis, I authorized and paid for the repair. Unfortunately, the alternator was not the problem. My car continued to have issues, and I later learned that the real issue was simply the battery, which required replacement. This means I paid for an expensive and completely unnecessary repair. As a result of Pep Boys' misdiagnosis, I had to take my vehicle to the dealership for another diagnosis, which caused additional financial loss, wasted time, and unnecessary stress. I made multiple attempts to resolve this directly with Pep Boys. After several calls, I spoke with a regional manager who said he would file a claim and asked for documentation, which I provided. Since then, I have received no follow-up. Every time I call, I am told the issue will be escalated and that a manager will contact me within 24-48 hours, but no one ever does. This experience reflects poor diagnostic practices, lack of accountability, and extremely disappointing customer service. Posting here as well from my interaction last year at this PepBoys Location. Came in today to get four new tires, called ahead, and was told they had 3 and would send someone to get the other from a nearby location. I arrived and they completed the work after I paid and went out to check my vehicle. I saw that the DOT codes, when the tire was produced, were from 2020 and in the beginning weeks. These tires were all over four years old, whenever I have gotten tires in the past, they have been less than a year old. When I spoke with one of the associates, I was told they can sell tires for up to 10 years after the DOT date because they are stored in the "Air-Conditioned shop" even though the AC unit was being replaced while I was at the shop. This is an extremely deceitful business practice, and unsafe as these tires are degraded, this shop recommends replacing them every 4 to 5 years, where these tires are already at. I have contacted their corporate number, avoid this location, and ask to see the tires before they put them on. Update: After far too much arguments and complaints they did finally put on updated tires made from earlier last year, I serviced my car a few weeks back and the lug nuts were on extremely tight, 187 lbs breakaway torque far above manufacture recommended 87 and extremely close to breaking those lug studs. Thankfully none of them broke or snapped but shows lack of respect and cares from the staff. I will never go to another pep boys and strongly advise you to go anywhere else this shop is not a good image for Pep Boys and it is sad this review had to be made. read more

I scheduled an oil change for this morning before a road trip and when I went inside, one of the employees tried telling me that there was no appointment scheduled. When I pulled up the confirmation email, he told me that he will "see what he can do." Another employee came in and said that he had to cancel it but I could drop it off and maybe he could get to it today. I went here to get an oil change and to get the head light fixed. They told me that they couldn't do an oil change until Tuesday. He made it sound like they were really busy. I then asked if they could fix the light. After taking 10 minutes to look over the car, he said that they could have it fixed in half an hour. It was an hour and a half before they could fix a head light. While I was waiting, I noticed that the staff (in groups) was doing a LOT of standing around, talking, smoking. Somebody had gone to get KFC, they were all AS A GROUP having a pic-nick in the garage. I noticed the manager was the last person out of the restroom. I went in and noticed that the jerk had pissed all over the seat. The man doesn't give a crap about anything, not even keeping the place presentable for customers. I'm looking for another mechanic. I was in need of a new battery to replace a previous one purchased at Pep Boys (63rd Ave and Bell Rd) The store was not busy but person attending the customer service desk said they would not be able to get to my truck for at least 4 plus hours. Seems they had only one person working, short handed. Customer service was horrible to say the least not to mention poor business practice if they can only handle one customer at a time. My car went in for a simple brake job and oil change and they did horrible job. They put defective pads on my car..I went back twice complaining of a noise that was new after their work and they just kept sending me away saying they needed to break in. They didn't seat the pads correctly and they were wearing unevenly.. they didn't clean up anything with the calipers and clips. Had to take it to a different Pep Boys to fix all their work.. took the other Pep Boys almost 8 hours with my car to undo and redo everything they did. You can tell after speaking to the workers at this shop.. they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about and you can just tell in your gut not to leave your car there. Starts off rough with the tech Timthoy L on a Su day morning when I over hear him talking crap about the wheels on my car to the service advisor, then it leads to him mounting a tire on inside out. Wasn't happy to correct the issue and when I brought my car to Discount Tire today for a rebalance since it didn't feel right, I find out he had 3 sets of weights on one wheel and was it out by 3 ounces. So, he never pulled his weights off from the first I correct mount. Don't make your employees work Sundays if they are going to do right by people. This was my wife's car she uses everyday. Please be AWARE that either this location on 75th Ave and Peoria rips you off while doing shoddy work when servicing your vehicle. I had my brakes and rotors replaced and shortly thereafter I started noticing issues with my brakes and so I called them and asked what my warranty would cover on services they sold me and then explained to them that I had issues with the brakes or rotors that had been installed by their crew and I was told that they don't offer warranty's on parts and labor for brake pads and rotors. Sadly I just took the employees word on that and several months later, fast forward to today I brought my car to another auto shop to replace my brake pads and rotors. It's a Shame that you spend hard earned money to fix a car for shoddy workmanship and parts from who you thought was reputable in the first place. All I wanted was my windshield wipers replaced he told me there were no techs that they all went home. You need techs to tell me what wipers I need?? I went in and got 4 tires and an alignment. Everything was fine then about 3 weeks later I noticed my front tires were going bald so I rotated my tires. And then about a week later noticed that they were doing the same thing so I went back to pep boys on 75th and Peoria and was told they could not get me in for a week. Then my son in Tucson had a baby so I missed my appointment and went back and was told could not get me in for another week. In the mean time my front tire blew out on me and I had to go buy a used tire to get me by till my appointment the new tires I bought are only 4 weeks old at this time and already are bad I just came in for my appointment and was just told by Rudy that they can't warranty my tires because they said I need Controll arms the car has new Controll arms on it I know it does not need them because the car just had them put on the day before I bought it 3 months ago. So now I'm out $500.00 dollars for a set of tires that did not even last me a month. So now I'm driving my kids around in a car that's unsafe to drive because I can't afford to buy new tires. Then on my work order it does NOT say anything about needing Controll arms. Or have the mileage of my car or the DOT info about the tires. I will never go back to pep boys on 75th and Peoria ever. Employee Bobby with the bald head and earring in his ear on the evening of Tuesday 4/18/17 was extremely argumentative, unprofessional, unaccomadating , provoking and unhelpful. I was sent to this store by another Pep Boys location to exchange some bulbs I purchased online that were not the right size. The original store was out of the size I did actually need. I had a receipt, all packaging and documentation and instruction from the original store to have this store call them if there was any type of problem when I went to exchange it for the bulb I need. At Pep Boys on 75th Ave and Peoria Bobby refused to understand me in this transaction and also refused to simply call the other store to sort it out. Bobby wanted to dispute with me what the other store told me saying they should not of told me what they did and that it was my problem for buying the wrong bulb. And he said that if he does the exchange for me he would have to do exchanges for everyone else and he just wanted to prolong and complicate a simple return/exchange that was fully documented and that I was told I could do this by the original store. Never in my life have I been treated like this with a simple exchange of merchandise that I had full documentation for AND was directed to handle it this way by the Pep Boys I originally went to. Bobby seriously needs to work on his people skills and making customers happy so that they return and spend more money. Because of Bobby's attitude, body language, and the way he treats customers I will not buy any more tires, service, supplies or anything from Pep Boys because the way Bobby treats people. The automotive service and product industry is highly competitive especially so with all the online options to go to. Read all of the reviews before you bring your vehicle to any Pep Boys! I brought my truck to get some work done on February 18, 2018 because I was moving to Arizona and wanted these things taken care of before making the 900+ mile trip. I had a very small coolant leak and my truck felt like it was locked into 4X4. Pep Boys replaced the lower radiator hose, the leak was coming from the connection where the hose makes connection with the engine block. I returned approximately ten times because the coolant continued to leak, ended up being a faulty overflow tank cap. I only had to being it back once since Pep Boys replaced the radiator cap, due to the hose clamps they installed in place of where the radiator hose factory crimp connections were removed. Pep Boys did charge me for a drain and refill labor on top of the removing and replacing the lower radiator hose and admitted they forgot to take off the labor. When you remove the lower radiator hose, the antifreeze will drain automatically, rules of gravity! When I returned to have the coolant leak repaired, I let them know that the truck still felt like it was in 4X4. Pep Boys told me that the front axle U-Joints were faulty and needed to be replaced and they'd give me a discount on the labor to replace these U-Joints. I took my truck to AAMCO to verify if the U-Joints were faulty. AAMCO had my truck for a day and told me the axles are fine and the U-Joints are fine, that my truck is locked into 4X4 and I needed to return and have Pep Boys correct the issue. Pep Boys had my vehicle for twelve days and their diagnosis was a bad GEM module, the GEM module which was on back order from Ford. Pep Boys told me that it should be fine to make it to AZ as long as I didn't engage the 4X4 and to bring it to a Pep Boys Superstore when I get to Arizona and have them replace the GEM module. I made the 900+ mile trip to Arizona with the front spindles locked into 4X4 and when I got to Arizona it was making a loud squeaking noise. I brought it to a Pep Boys when I got to Arizona and they sprayed some WD-40 on the rubber that was making the squeaking noise. About a week later, the noise came back. I brought my truck back to Pep Boys and they put some axle grease between in the spot that was making the squeaking noise. The Arizona Pep Boys test drove my vehicle and said that it's not locked into 4X4. End result is that my truck is still locked into 4X4 and I'm waiting for the grease to wear down and the rubber to make the squeaking noise again! I spent over $2000.00 just for Pep Boys to make the original repairs and a lot more money in missed work, rental cars and inconveniencing a lot of people for rides. I placed a complaint with the BBB today and will update this post if Pep Boys makes it right by at least a full refund. Pep Boys doesn't deserve the one star, but unfortunately I didn't have the option to give them 0 stars! read more
