Yesterday, 02/14/2026, I had an appointment to have my air conditioner serviced. I arrived at 10:00 AM for my 10:30 AM appointment. I sat there until 6:00 PM, only to be told that they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car and that they were "pretty sure" it was a part that would cost $4,000. Keep in mind, I have a 2021 Nissan Sentra. While I was waiting, I overheard a woman -- I'm not sure if she was a manager -- telling another employee that the technician working on my car did not know how to work on that system. She repeated that she was pretty sure he didn't know how to handle it. That immediately raised a red flag, but I continued to wait patiently. When I finally got my car back, I got in and started to drive off, only to notice that my check engine light was on. I immediately pulled into a parking space, got out, and informed the service advisor. He had me pull my car back into the bay where the technician had been working on it. The technician then ran a diagnostic test and told me the issue was my key fob, claiming there were about 42 alerts on his machine. I explained to him that I did not have any of those issues when I drove in -- I came in strictly for an air conditioning service. Needless to say, something clearly went wrong. I will be taking my car to the dealership on Monday to determine what is actually going on. The technician had a horrible attitude, and I do not understand how we went from servicing my air conditioner (which took all day) to now having my check engine light on. The customer service was extremely poor. I was only given updates when I asked for them. It seemed like they were scrambling because they didn't know what they were doing. If they were unsure how to handle my vehicle, they should have been honest about it instead of wasting my entire day off. I took my truck in for service on a Thursday and didn't get it back until Saturday. When I drove it to work on Monday, the brakes were smoking and making a loud noise. I brought it back, and they told me the brakes were just dirty. A few days later, I found out I had been charged for both front and rear brakes and rotors, but only the front ones were actually replaced. When I called, the manager said a new worker forgot to let me know I needed to come back for the rear brakes. I had to take the truck back again to get the rest of the work done that I had already paid for. If I hadn't waited so long, I might have considered buying new tires--but at that point, I just wanted to leave. The second time was today. Still, I wasn't prepared for a **2.5-hour wait**--had I known, I would've just dropped my car off. After leaving, they called me back, saying they needed to "check something." I told the guy that I paid for the rotation and it wasn't done. He said how do you know it wasn't done. I told him I knew because I have two different brand name tires on the front and the back of the car. Then he said, you didn't pay for it. I showed him my receipt which shows I did pay for it. I had been coming here a while as it was a convenient alternative to AutoZone. I am sad to see that they are getting rid of the retail. Safety Warning: Caution for Service at PEP BOYS in Santa Clarita on Golden Valley RD I recently took my car to Pep Boys in Santa Clarita for an oil change and where they provided courtesy tire rotation, a place I've trusted for years. However, this visit resulted in a major issue. About two weeks after the service on June 5th, my car began making noises, shaking, and the check engine light turned on. Upon inspection by another mechanic, it was evident that the tires appeared tampered with, and the wheel lock was missing. This was alarming as I distinctly remember providing the wheel lock to pep boys during my visit. I went in person and they had it. I asked why wasn't I noticed and they claimed they called. I had no calls or voicemail. Additionally, the oil was found to be black from the second mechanic, suggesting something isn't right. The same oil was used and I checked the oil before bringing to pepboys, on record it says the same oil from my January service,but I have to question what was actually put in physcially? The mechanic forgot to put my wheel lock, what else did they forget or not do something properly. The engine cover was also broken, and the shop had no records of any damages prior to my visit to prove otherwise. Giving excuses of why my oil is black, same oil was put in, I was told. I knew that was not what caused it. Another employee said well you took it too another mechanic, I said he inspected my car! To find what was wrong. Why does an oil change within 3 weeks make sense? Something is wrong. He said why didnt you bring it here? He made it point to steer away that it wasn't done there last so its not there fault. And I also mentioned the paper work invoice had someelses courtesy inspection with a completely different name and car say. I could only answer why would I trust you guys with my car after my findings after coming to your location? Also my invoice had a courtesy inspection under a different car and name. I can't take their word where they are showing me signs of covering it up and putting the blame of them. I have proof of the inconsitanancies. The inconstancies with the work they did with my car has validation to question there work ethics. The staff claimed the car shown in their video was mine, but upon review, it was clearly not my car. Why did they point out a completely different car? Why aren't they doing anything right with my car situation? What are they hiding? This isn't something that can wait til Thursday for the mangager to be there to give me answers I deserve to know. So this experience has been distressing, filled with dismissals and lack of accountability and no compassion. I urge anyone considering service at pep boys to be extremely cautious. My experience has been filled with inconsistencies, potential tampering, and severe mismanagement. My car is damaged and deserve some answers and some compassion from a place were I took my car and they continue to show dismissive and uncompassionate approach to my complaint. I am nurse and work really hard and the ethical thing for me is to make sure others can see my experience. I've been to this Pepboys's a few times and it gets worse every time. Every time I've gone I've had an appointment and not once did it the service ever start near the appointment time. This last time I asked why and they said that appointments secure that you will be seen sometime that day but not necessarily at that time. Crazy! I waited two hours for my "appointment" to start, then an hour for the service. So what I thought would be a 1 o'clock oil change that I would leave by 1:45 didn't even start until 3 o'clock. To make things worse, Jiffy Lube was across the street with no customers. I'm going to Jiffy Lube next time.
