Their communication is worst. I was there with my car i got a nail. They say its not repairable and you have to change your tires and while you do that you have to change all tires (tesla service said its not necessary to change all) ok I ordered 2 tires instead of doing 4 and than i was checking with costco and they say they can repair it and a tire replacement is not necessary. So i did that and called them to cancel the order. First of all the lady who picked up dont speak English very good. I keep telling her to cancel my order but she dont understand what m talking about and hang up the phone. I called back again but no response. So when the tires showed up they called me and i told them about what happened and she started yelling at me. They were trying to sell me tires for no reason and when I figured out and got it done from someplace else they get mad that they have this special orders. Now i called them to cancel it but they dont speak English so i dont know what to do. Its not my fault. Than i was like ok i will still buy the tires but how much for only the tire. Even though we are sequestered in our homes during the COVID-19 crisis, we still need to keep our vehicles running properly. Importantly, Motor vehicle maintenance is a critical industry, car repair facilities continue to provide service to their customers in this time of uncertainty. Heading out to the grocery store for some supplies I was faced with a dead battery in my vehicle. Fortunately, I was able to jumpstart the vehicle and once I got it running, I dialed Pep Boys and explained my dilemma. The manager asked for my vehicle information and he verified the correct battery was stocked in their inventory. I was pleased to hear it was in stock. You need to know that when I telephoned the shop, it was actually 40 minutes before their scheduled closing time. The manager offered to keep the doors open for me and to install the new battery when I arrived at his service bay. I pulled up to the service bay door, he tested the old battery and tested the alternator. The service codes on the electronic tester showed us that my alternator was good but the battery was definitely bad. He proceeded to replace the battery on the spot and he even went a few minutes past their closing time to get the installation done properly. Once the installation was complete, he asked me to start up the vehicle. It fired right up. Once again, I can use my vehicle. I call that "excellent service"! read more

Ordered a tire on Sunday for next day pickup on Monday. I waited all day Monday and the order was never fulfilled. Tuesday morning I ordered another tire, the same model, for same day pickup. I called and talked to CJ who said the tire would come in later that day. I have two open, unfulfilled orders for the same tire. What kind NICE folk! We had a seriously DEAD old battery in our 2000 Camry ( even the battery said Toyota!). Costco does not install batteries and tomorrow is Labor Day! AAA came and jump started the Camry at 3:30 pm. ( I have found AAA batteries which now offer a SIX year warrantee, do not last.) I zoomed over to Costco. While I waited in the car for the Costco salesman to bring out a new battery ( could not lv car running solo) I tried to find someone with time to install it. ONLY Pep Boys could help me SOooo late on Labor Day eve! After paying for the battery ( Interstate for $110 at Costco includes deposit for returning old one), I FLEW to Pep Boys here on Bee Ridge. The fellow who helped me on the phone recognized me and immediately came and removed the old battery then replaced it with the new Interstate VERY QUIKLY! I have been going to this business for many years now, and was very disappointed last couple of days. Saturday I called in and was told that they would not be able to see me because a mechanic called out and they wouldn't be able to see me that day which I can deal with because I did not have an appointment. Today on Monday I got off work early and went to the shop for my 430 appointment only to find out that Mechanic had called off again and they would not be able to see me for two hours. Companies have to not be held hostage to crappy employees, or it will hurt their business so much. I will not go back to Pep Boys again. My Mom; "my tire pressure gauge keeps going off" so I went to take a look. Of course, she had a big screw jammed all the way in there. As I started the car, the display showed 4 PSI in the rear tire...! Thank goodness these guys were so close! CJ and Jake got me in and out, same-day with a tire that was in-stock(!) within an hour. I had taken my 2-year old Nissan to the dealership for a 25,000 mile checkup and they gave me a list of over $1,000 in "servicings" that the vehicle needed. I went to Pepboys. Only one of the items listed by the dealership was required--the rest were elective, if needed. So I made an appointment for the brake fluid flushing and the replacement of the air filter. Today (December 15) was my appointment date. I showed up on time (9:00 AM) and was in and out of Pep Boys within 45 minutes and a lower fee for the brake fluid flush AND air filter than the dealer wanted for just the break fluid. I have used Pep Boys for many years and have always found them to be A++. Omar at this facility was great. I will return and strongly encourage others to do the same. read more

Took my car in for a simple battery change. Had an11am appointment they didn't finish until after 2pm. When I got the car home I opened the hood to find a large piece of the engine part just laid on top of the engine. Several screws not put back on and the battery cover not put back on correctly. Went there for new brake pads. The mechanic showed me that the rotors were slightly damaged and recommended new rotors instead of resurfacing the old ones. I reluctantly agreed, but told him to make sure they were the absolute cheapest ones. The car is 16 years old with 160,000 miles on it. It barely runs as is, so obviously I didn't want to spend a lot on it. They verbally quoted $300 for the job. More than I wanted to spend, but I was assured that would be the cheapest way to do it. Four hours later, the guy who gave me that quote is nowhere to be found, and the other guy bills me almost $600. My mistake for not getting the quote in writing. If you choose to go there, be aware of the bait and switch. At the very least, they are deceptive and untrustworthy. I won't be returning. read more

My HONEST review of this place is as follows: The parts and services are ridiculously overpriced. If you need parts for your vehicle, get them at your local parts store because Corporate Pep Boys seems to think it's okay to charge more than double (in some cases triple) what they pay for them. I understand the concept of markup, but come on. This is outrageous. Furthermore, favoritism runs deep among the employer/employee front. Some employees have kept their positions while DRINKING ON THE JOB, while others have been threatened by the district manager for having obligations outside the workplace. The very fact that nearly all the stores in the district are understaffed now is proof of this. It practically takes an act of congress to get essential equipment like the lifts repaired (which is an OSHA violation, and is a danger to both employee and customer vehicles), because it's "too expensive." Some shops are still dealing with outdated equipment that no one knows how to operate or repair. I take it that it's too expensive to be able to properly invest in doing the work that Pep Boys is in business for? Furthermore, I have remained silent up until this point out of fear that it might have cost certain employees their jobs. If I could leave negative stars, I would. read more

Paid roughly $225 per tire ( including road hazard)maybe a year ago. Less than 10k miles. Nail in tire in a spot that can't be patched. Thank you for being concerned about safety, that's extremely important. Tires I bought are no longer available and new tire will cost $185 after they allow $140 for pro-rating. Derek is a nightmare to deal with. He was very pleasant on the phone when setting my appt. When I came for set appt I spoke to another man that said if I dropped off the can for me in. Which was no big deal I planned on that. I dropped off at 8am....2pm I called for ETA Derek answered again but this time very rude I asked what happened to my appt if her remembered speaking to me he said he "forgot to put in the system because he is new" so I again asked for ETA he said sometime today I said that's all you can tell me when it's 2pm and you forgot my 8am appt? He then got very mad said I was chastising him when I was asking for ETA he then said 6pm and hung up on me. He called back 5 min later and said actually it won't be done today I laughed and said when tomorrow at 8 then? He said no that he doesn't know. I asked how can you not give me an eta when you just said 6pm today and now you have an attitude? He hung up. Then Derek Called back 10 or so minutes and said he didn't like the way things were between us and wanted to fix it. I said I don't even know how we got here I was asking for an eta and things went left. Told him I had corporate on the other line and will cancel my complaint if he puts my tires on as he said he would today. He then got very mad and said to come pick up my truck. When I did I noticed my tires weren't in my truck. I asked for them several times while he ignored me and then I said I'll call the police. He still refused to give me my Tires until the police arrived. While waiting for the police as I was talking to dispatch he was calling me a crybaby and making cry baby face gestures. Great customer service. I'll also add this is one of the two places in Sarasota that can mount my 24 inch tires so I was not being a Karen when asking about my truck. My daughter went to have new tires at this pep boys on bee ridge in Sarasota this Saturday because she was traveling back to her house on Monday in Orlando. 49 or 50 minutes after she left our house, she noticed that the car wasn't performing correctly, driving 65 mph on the driveway and had to stop on the side of the road to find ALL THE LUG NUTS LOOSE on the driver back wheel!!!!!!!! Thank you State Farm DOT finishing pep boys work and make sure my daughter make it safe to her house. If this is not enough when called to the store and talk to the manager (Michael) his answer Wasn't even an apology or try to make the right thing, he said that he was "looking" the cameras and that they did it ... well guess what!!!! No reviews? That's not right; these guys do good work. Now, auto repair isn't high on my list of fun things to do with my time and money. When it's unavoidable, I want minimal hassle, reasonable prices, and competent work. I'd postponed brake work to the point that my brakes were in really bad shape: metal-to-metal contact, sticking calipers, scored rotors. Just Brakes was nearby and could do the work the same day I called. I dropped the car off and did the rest over the phone, and picked up the car after hours. Sweet. And the brakes (with rebuilt calipers) work well. And the cost wasn't bad. So I was happy with the entire experience. A month or so later, I got a follow-up call from Just Brakes. Not to sell me anything, but just to check to make sure that I was happy with the work and that the car was right. Seriously, these guys deserve a really favorable review; If our other cars need brake work, they're at the top of my list. Call them. I'm glad I did. read more

Took my car in for a break job last week on a scheduled appointment, it took them three hours to complete the break job when I was told an hour at the most. When given my car back they didn't test drive my car at all to make sure the brakes were sounding and working correctly. I left pep boys with my brakes sounding even worse than which I came. I later tried calling to reschedule another appointment so they could fix the problem but all I've been getting is the run around for days now. I brought my 4Runner in because I thought there was a brake/front end issue. They worked on it for an hour and a half and finally told me that there was nothing wrong with the front end. That was re-assuring. Never even charged me. Very nice people. Only thing I didn't like was that they did not require masks in their very small waiting room. I am not sure what to make of the two one star reviews for this business. I think the management must have changed because my experience with this location was completely random yet it was outstanding. My tire went flat on Bee Ridge as I was driving. There is a lot of construction going on in the area and on that street and I must have hit something that ripped a hole in my tire. I was flub-flub-flubbing on a totally flat tire and looking for the first available store that might be able to help me. This store was the first place I came across so I pulled in. With a name like "Just Brakes" I wasn't even expecting them to be able to help me with a tire issue but I thought maybe they could call a tow truck and recommend a place. It turns out they do have tires. When you suffer a mechanical breakdown of some kind and are away from your home turf, you just assume you are going to be taken to the cleaners by whatever place you end up at when you have no options. I think we've all probably experienced that kind of scam at least once in our lives. This place did not do that. Long story short, they got me in and out in less than an hour, for under $35 and didn't try and scare me into buying something ridiculous like 4 new tires or anything like that. They didn't take advantage of the fact I was immobile and stuck with whatever help they could give me in this situation. This was beyond anything I could have hoped for when stranded and they were really fantastic people who just fixed my car without fanfare or up-selling or a bunch of BS. Even though they are over 20 miles from where I live, I will be returning to this location for any work I need done on my car in the future. This is the old-time way business used to be conducted-- give people an honest product or service and trust that they will return and recommend you with positive word of mouth. It is refreshing to find a place that really could have gouged me but didn't. I really wasn't expecting too much out of a generic looking chain store that I just happened upon, but wow, they really have earned my future business and the manager here, Tobin Nichols, and his crew are honest people who know what they are doing. I would definately recommend this location as long as this manager is in place--judging from the negative reviews it looks like it is less about the chain name and more about whoever is running the place, and this manager is fair and competent and not looking to make a quick buck at your expense. read more

I hate leaving a bad review, I wanted to give this spot a chance since it was so close to my house. They put the wrong tires on my truck, when one went flat months later they realized they put the wrong size tires on my truck. After several days they replaced it with the right tires. Only charged me for the flat tire... but I asked they check my oil and fluids several times since I just moved back and my truck was sitting. They told me they checked and everything looked good, but only after I asked again if they checked. I brought in my own new front sway bar links and they installed at a very reasonable price. My truck also takes expensive tires because they are an odd size. They had a buy three get one free special and a manufactures rebate too which amounted to getting tires that were better priced than Costco, Walmart and even the uninstalled Amazon price. I had an oil change here as well. They are also very nice to work with. When I've had parts replaced, they showed me the old part so there is no question of unnecessary work. The two gents at the front desk are sincere about wanting to fix problems with cars, as I've observed while watching customers walk in. I watched one of them try to figure out a lesser expensive way of fixing a potentially expensive problem for a women with an older model car to help her save. I was not informed when I made the appt or when I provided info on my car (make/model). I was then told equipment would need to be ordered and would take several days/week. I would not recommend ever going here. Not only was I insanely overcharged for an oil change and a brake pad change, but they gave horrible service. The guy at the counter was nice enough, but my mechanic managed to have crazy diarrhea the entire time he was working on my car, and charging me extra for all the time he spent in the toilet. Of course, the waiting room was directly next to the bathroom, so not only did I have to pay money for it, but I got to hear and smell every moment he spent in the restroom (which was a long time, probably a solid hour of the four hours they ultimately made me wait). Then, after all that, I find that my brakes are acting up, my steering wheel is shuddering when I brake on rougher roads. I take my car to a much more reputable mechanic, only to find out that they did a horrible job, and caused my rotors to warp. Far, far too costly. Don't go here. read more
