My experience at pep boys wasn't terrible but the customer service sucked. We purchased 4 new tires, and the job was completed in 3 hours when they told us it would take 1-1.5 hrs. I probably wouldn't consider going back to this place. Call me picky but I think customer service is a big deal. I wouldn't recommend going there to any of my family or friends. Took a Honda Oddysey into here misfiring on one cylinder. They diagnosed one bad ignition coil. They then suggested a complete diagnostic for $89 we fell for it. They said it needed a $1500 valve adjustment, which was just done 40,000 miles ago. Total lie. Replaced the one coil and the car runs fine. Total BS UPSELL, the same fraud SEARS got nailed for 10 years ago. read more

I have been a Pepboys customer for years I myself have 2 Trucks and 3 cars between my wife and kids that I always serviced there. I use to take my personal and work truck in to Raul, He was great and always took care of me. At some point he only worked one day a week so he put me in the good hands of Ruben. He always did an amazing job and even went as far as to give me a ride home a few times during big jobs. I come to find out recently both Raul and Ruben are gone. I tried to go in there for service a few times. I ended up in a huge line while Ron an assistant manager went back forth rudely arguing with a customer. I decided to leave and came back and ended up speaking with Curtis another assistant manager he was extremely unhelpful and seemed like he was bluffing his was thru the conversation. As I was leaving I overheard him in the shop talking smack about me to a mechanic. I'll be glad to let you know I will never return for service again. Went this morning because my check engine light came out. I asked if they could check the reason behind it so I was hoping they would pull codes for me. They told me it would be a 3 hour wait and $89. Since when do they charge to check the engine light? They were so rude about it. I left and now I'm at Mountain View with no wait and it's free. Service department is a complete joke as far as customer service goes. One guy at the desk and he is in no hurry to get people checked in and moving on. I swear that things moved faster when there were no computers. If you are getting your car fixed move on. For parts it's still the same place it always was. Have been having oil changes done here for the last 2 years!!! Just sometimes it an 2 hr wait!!!! The only thing I've been unhappy with is we had a belt changed several months ago by pep boys and we have to come back about every 3 to 4 months to have it tightened up!! Summary: Wrong Diagnosis, wanted $400 for a repair that would not have worked. They don't want to refund me for their incorrect diagnosis. The fact that they refused the refund, on top of the poor diagnosis, has left a bad taste in my mouth. I brought my 2011 Volvo in because I had misfires on cylinders 1 and 2, and I had them do their $89.99 Engine Diagnostic. They called me saying that the sparks plugs were loose and not torqued down right and suggested that the Bosch spark plugs be replaced with the Original Equipment NGK spark plugs, and that replacing them would be $320 (yes, $320 to replace six $14.19 plugs, not including the $90 for the diagnostic). They also said I had misfires on 3 cylinders, not 2 cylinders. I told them that those Bosch spark plugs were only a week old, and that the problem started BEFORE the plugs were replaced. The representative I was talking to put me on hold to tell the mechanic. He came back offering for me to pay $200 for them to torque them down. I declined, payed the $80.99 (had a 10% discount) and took my car to the next parking lot over to check the torque and plugs myself. I will note that they also mentioned that all cylinders passed the compression test, this will be important later. The plugs were torqued right, and I even got some new NGK plugs and put them in cylinders 1 and 2 to see if the Bosch's for some reason were causing a problem, even though the problem manifested before the Bosch's were put in. I used Volvo's specialized bi-directional communication tool (called a 'Vida' communication tool) to actively watch the misfires happening, and with correctly torqued NGK plugs I still had misfires at the same rate as before and in cylinders 1 and 2, no other cylinders showed more than just 1 misfire, and that was at engine startup. I went back into the store to talk to the manager about getting a refund for the diagnostic. I explained everything I've said in this review; he said that they can't give a refund to every guy that comes in who did the repair themselves and it still didn't fix the problem. When I said that if they actually did a compression test they would have found that cylinder 3 has a leak as its compression, both wet and dry, is 20% lower than the other 5 cylinders he said that since the mechanic had gone home for the night, he would talk to him in the morning and give me a call. I'm waiting on that call now. When I asked what would happen if they replaced all of the plugs for $320 and the problem still existed, the manager said that if the mechanic says the spark plugs are the problem, then that's what the problem is. When I pushed and asked again, "If for some reason the repair didn't work what would happen?" He said he would give me a big discount on whatever repairs were still needed, and that the discount would be the price of the spark plug job ($320) and they would put the old spark plugs back. Big discount, huh? So, their diagnosis was wrong, and they wanted to charge me a total of $400 for a repair that would not have worked. I did not want to pay for a repair that wouldn't have worked. I suppose if I approved the $320 repair and let them do it, and had them find out that wasn't the problem, then they might have continued trying to find the problem. But after hearing 1) That the problem was definitely the spark plugs when I knew 100% that it wasn't, and 2) That all of the cylinders passed the compression test when they don't, I had no confidence in their mechanic's ability to diagnose and I wanted my car out of there. I feel that if they would have refunded me, then everything could be chalked up to me taking a European car to the wrong place, and that I should stick to specialists. I'll update this review if/when I hear back from them, but I don't have high hopes for a positive resolution. read more

Horrible customer service! Ordered a tire online that was supposed to be delivered next day. When I called I was told good luck, it'll be here in 2 days. I asked to speak to the manager and was told I already was. My CC was already charged so I waited the 2 days only to call back to check when I could pick it up & he told me it was sold already & no more were available, not even online. Everyone was rude and did not seem to know information or how resolve this issue. It took them another 2 days to credit my CC. We will never deal with any pep boys again! read more

Not a good experience at all. Dropped my vehicle off on a Friday morning to get the window repaired. Received a phone call at 5:30 in the afternoon that nothing had been done, as they were waiting on approval with warranty service. I then provided, once again, warranty contact info. Called the next day to get an update and was informed everything has been completed, but still awaiting approval. I was told I could pick up on Sunday. When I went to pick it up I found out that nothing had been done. I was then informed they are still waiting for approval to do the work. I also found out they had left my vehicle outside for three days/nights unlocked and with the windows down. To say the very least I was not happy at all. I called back later on Tuesday to speak to a manager to find out what had happened. It was presented that it was all my fault. Very poor communication, follow through, and professionalism. This was my first and last time using any Pep Boys for any kind of service at all. read more

Warning!!! These guys way overcharge. I had my truck towed there because my brakes went out. I chose Pep Boys because I would be able to know the cost of parts before the job was done. When they called with their estimate, the price for parts they quoted me was two and three times the cost of the part on their website. I was told the difference was a service charge. Basically they charge you two and three times the cost of parts you'd pay at the parts counter because they had to walk over and get it. Since I have no working brakes on my truck, I had no other choice than to approve the work, however, I will never get work done at Pep Boys again. Lesson learned! read more

I worked with Alexis and he was extremely helpful in getting my tires replaced and working out the best the price for me. Curtis was very helpful over the phone when my van wouldn't start and I needed help on a Sunday afternoon. The tow truck driver got it started and I drove straight there just to make sure all was well. I really feel badly doing this, but this place is consistently horrible in customer service and specifically corporately handed down policies. The folks that actually work here are decent human beings, but the rules they work by are ridiculous. I brought my horsetrailer there to get new tires. Have done that there before with this very same horsetrailer a few years ago. Now..I was told they are not allowed to remove or put back on wheels, because of a new rule regarding trailer lug nuts. Such a hassle. Wouldn't be so bad if I already hadn't have had the tires on that trailer replaced there before. There are other recent similar things... "Oh we can't check your check engine light here because it's a diesel". "Oh your truck is too long to do an alignment on...I don't think we can" tried calling beforehand and no one answered the phone. One more thing...PepBoys offers online discounts that are not available to walk ins. Feels like bait and switch. Management doesn't care..at all. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

I was in Temecula for the day visiting some friends. On my way home ( a two hour trip), I discovered that I had a nail in my tire and it was flat. I was in the Pep Boys parking lot with no real options and decided to go into the Pep Boys and ask for assistance. Sal at this location was incredibly helpful. Not only did he help me research tires and choose the one that I felt was best, he also provided a discount on it, and was able to get me an immediate walk-in when they were booked. Sal went above and beyond and got me on my way home within an hour. Thanks to the Pep Boys of Temecula for making a bad day somehow better with their work ethic and professional manner. read more

They were efficient, helpful, courteous and the final price was what was quoted to me. RUN AWAY! Like most people I think Pep Boys is a respectable place to get your car worked on. You hear the name and you know you won't be charged for this and for that, and they'll get the job done right. this is not the case with this location. They charge you $100 just to tell you what the problem is, but even the expensive car dealers would then deduct this from your bill. When i go to Honda and I pay $100 to find out whats wrong and my repair is $500 they only charge me $500, not this pep boys they add it on so a $500 repair costs $600 When being quoted for the parts needed to repair my wife's VW they told me one part was $170, I went on their website and found it for $50. They wanted to over charge me by 340%! Then while my car was there over night both the driver and passenger side window were smashed and my wife's digital camera was stolen. Pep boys did the courtesy of calling the police and filing a report, but wouldn't offer me the slightest discount on repairs for the trouble i was going through. which is odd because they were willing to over charge me 340% but couldn't give me 1% off labor. I also ordered things online that they said they left in the car, but when i got home and looked only half my order was in the back seat! Pep Boys is a great company, but this store is a nightmare! read more

Take your money elsewhere. For service I recommend spending the extra 20-30% and go direct to a dealership where customer service isn't an issue. This place isn't qualified to make a bad cup of coffee. WISH I WOULD'VE READ THE YELP REVIEWS PRIOR TO TRUSTING THESE FOLKS! Bad customer service and horrible craftsmanship. Had my truck here multiple times including yesterday for a coolant diagnostic issue that they failed to provide adequate and safe services for also brought poor repair issues that were found which they ignored. In their words they are not at fault for anything, they did everything correct, NOT!! Left extremely disappointment. Spent several hour on the phone today with both the service manager Sal, corporate rep., as well as the area Director in charge which told me there is nothing they can do even though $600+ was spent on something that did not correct the problem, and now turns out there will need to be an additional $3000.00 needing to be spent which they say is my fault. Convenient.... I offered multiple ways and options for them to remedy my dissatisfaction and reasons why they are liable to my situation caused by their poor business practices and they each stuck to their guns that they are not willing to offer 1 cent in any solution that I felt was reasonable. NOTHING! Needless to say I will not be having ANY repair work done with any Pep Boys business location and will tell everyone I meet and know to steer clear from these unqualified hacks and con artists. Shame on U Pep Boys. Its a matter of time with Ur predatory tactics U will soon be only a memory from long ago. Oh and I would like to add, I love how they generically respond to each post how they are sorry to hear of the poor experience and how they state they are so willing to help. I'd love to ask each of their satisfied how many of them reached true satisfaction after that generic comment they add? HORRIBLE SERVICE! Came in to get an oil change and possibly my break pads changed! I was told the break inspection was free but when I decided that I didn't want to get them done yet they then tried to tell me I had to pay for the break inspection! I have now been here for 3 hours and I was told over an hour ago that it would only take about 30 more minutes to change the oil! Everywhere else I have ever been it only takes about 20 min to do the oil once they start on the car!!! I am the only person sitting here and have walked up to the counter multiple times and nobody seems to want to help or hurry up the damn oil change! 3 hours is a little much for oil!!!!! First time i came here was for a flat tire came in time before they closed one of the guy help me purchase a tire and they had only one left just as i need service was great that is why I chose to come back here when My car needed to replace a coolant hose flange was the worst experience ever it was a Sunday morning I waited since 6 in the morning they open at 9am as soon as they open as they open I went in to speak with a associate to fix my car he diagnose what it needed to and told me he couldn't get the part until the next day i agree and and left to get a rental the next day morning an associate from pep boys call and they can get the parts same day and will be able to get my car back before the end of the day I agree and waited the day went by no call so I call to find out if my car was ready waited on the line for about 20 minutes and finally someone picked up and told me it was ready I came in pay my expenses and took my keys and left to my car had a feeling I needed to check my car so I did where i found that my car was the same condition that i left it nothing was being fix I almost drove off If i had trust their work but Good thing I don't it would had damage my car even worst. I was very disappointed in them their employees don't care about their customers or their job seem like they just there for pay check even manager seem don't care and he only doing his " job tittle". I went in for an oil change! The female who took my onfo was supper helpful. But non the less I had Just gone in for an oil change and I waited over two hours for them. Not once did some one come to tell me or update me about my vehicle. Not only that, the manager was so Loud! He kept yelling to his peers "CLOCK OUT!" "WERE HAVE YOU BEEN!" and putting his workers on blast that he only worked 20 hr last week. I truly believe that he was a tad bit unprofessional.
