Here is my experience: I called and made an appointment for 12:00pm to have a vehicle inspection performed on my late model Ford Explorer Limited Edition. During the phone conversation with Pep Boys Rep he told me that the vehicle inspection would take about an hour if I waited for it in the customer waiting area. The phone rep also suggested that if I wanted to leave the vehicle with them, they would have it ready by the end of the day. I informed the Pep Boys phone rep that I had things to do and preferred to wait in the customer waiting area for the car during the service. I arrived at 11:55am, handled the initial paperwork, and proceeded to wait in the customer waiting area for what I thought would be an hour. After an hour and 20 minutes and not hearing from anyone from the Pep Boys staff, I called the front desk from the customer waiting area and was told that my car was next to be worked on. I promptly walked up to the front desk and inquired as to why the delay; and one of the floor attendants told me that one of their workers was working on a brake job for another car. I asked the Pep Boys attendant why wasn't I notified that there was going to be a delay in getting my car finished and he said quote "I Don't Know". I could elaborate regarding my experience in this forum however, I won't. Suffice it to say, if you're interested in obtaining great customer service, interacting with staff members that possess great communication skills, and a high level of customer focused integrity; avoid this Pep Boys at all cost! read more

My car was having a stuttering problem, so I took it in the next day since I had class and work. I was worried since this has never happened to me before and I thought it was going to cost me a lot. Originally my price was a lot more than I expected, as a full-time student I could barely afford anything over $500 let alone everything I needed to fix my car. California, I-210, headed toward Toluca Lake and my front right tire blows out. It's late at night, so I had to wait until morning to find a place open on a Sunday to buy a new tire. Pep Boys in Burbank was open and I settled for two new Goodyear tires for $455. But during my drive back to the French Valley, my tire pressure light stayed on. Monday morning, less than 24 hours, the right front tire blew out again! While changing the tire to put the spare on, I noticed a cut on the inside wall that was perfectly along a seam. Clearly this was a defective tire and that's why the tire pressure light did not go off. I took the tire to the Temecula Pep Boys and Paul in the service department tells me he would have to get his manager involved. They decided that I ran over something and would have to pay for another tire. Unacceptable. I called the corporate office, made my argument and provided pictures of the tire as requested. Corporate calls the Pep Boys manager, who tells Paul to tell me that they will give me a new tire for half price, but I would have to purchase a tire protection plan for that tire and the other one purchased in Burbank in order for them to do anything. Although I was angered by the clear entrapment of the deal, I was going to do it. But then, as I followed Paul to his work station, he laughed out loud, which was clearly at my willingness to pay to replace an obviously defective tire. Immediately I paused the deal and called corporate back. After a 30 minute heated debate with upper management trying to get me to pay an additional $200, it took me having to finally state what I do professionally, before they agreed to replace the tire at no extra cost. My wife and I go to pep boys at 12:45 to only find out I don't have an appointment at all and they are booked for the day and I would need to make an appointment for another day . Pep Boys has always been my go to spot for all things automotive. Their prices are a bit higher than Walmart, but I'd rather give them my money than that evil empire. I've been searching high and low for Castrol Syntec Blend 5W-20 with not much luck. I did find it here, but in the quart bottles. I'd much prefer the 5-quart container because it's easier to transport. But this Pep Boys does take used oil and oil filters for recycling. Their barrels are never full so bring as much used oil as you like. Just make sure you sign in. Big Brother is watching... read more

Today I was doing errands and found my tire had a nail in it. I only had an hour before a dr appt. I was desperate. The repair guys were going to lunch and they were going to put air in it and I was gonna come back. I was very concerned I would have a flat. Took my car here today for a basic tire job and left extremely disappointment. -Tires not mounted correctly to wheels. -Balance weights not glued properly. -Wheels scratched. -Paid for new valve stems that were never installed (money was refunded). -Tire sensors not reprogramed. -One tire low once I got home. DO NOT GET ANY REPAIRS OR MAINTENANCE AT THIS LOCATION. Came in for a routine oil change. After an hour of waiting, I was informed that my drain plug was damaged and was told to go back to my previous auto shop that performed my last oil change. Went to Chevrolet dealer ship in temecula and explained my story. Chevy mechanics informed me that my drain plug had be damaged by pep boys BUT also, they had put in an extra FOUR QUARTS of oil, even though pep boys claimed to not have started my oil change during my one hour wait. Not only did they lie about the service they provided, they could have endangered me and ruined my car without my knowledge of the added quarts of oil to my engine. Save yourself the extra money that may be saved here and go somewhere MORE PROFESSIONAL and HONEST. read more

If you ever wanted to go to a place where you get a distinct feeling that corporate hates their employees and the employees hate corporate and maybe the customers too, this would be the place. Just 1% customer service would be 100% better. I have purchased tires here in the past, but this last set of oil changes left me certain that I would never go here again. They don't use the vehicle tracking system, your car takes forever, they had one tech working, and they barely acknowledge you at check-in and vehicle pickup. Changing the oil on either car took 3 to 4 hours, and I'm not sure how much longer it would have been had I not inquired. That said, they are great if you have a flat or need a replacement tire, but I'm not sure it's worth enduring the mystery of when your car will be finished or if it will even be done by closing despite your early afternoon appointment time. There are many better options out there, I think. read more

I finally had an opportunity to take my car elsewhere after Pep Boys worked on it and made it worse. I couldn't do earlier than this because life happens to all of us and these guys insisted they didn't do anything wrong and refused to admit their mistakes. They think that I'm after getting back my money but it's not the case. They can keep the money they took from me, no amount of money is worth the humiliation they put people through. The most important thing for me was to share my experience with them so people know what they're getting into with these guys. It turns out when they worked on my breaks, which is when everything on my car started to digress and it got worse, they used a part that was worped (damaged). That was the reason my car was making all the noise and not driving well. I took my car back to them at least 3 times and they couldn't figure it out or didn't want to figure it out or maybe they did but didn't care. The experience with them was a waste of my time and energy. They have no integrity in their work ethics. They gave me the run around and clearly showed they're in it for the money. Went in to have AC system diagnostic and possible repair. Got a call back stating that the system was going to need to be recharged, costing me an insane amount of money for a recharge. Turned out my AC system didn't need a recharge, the tech told me that the AC compressor was running "weak and will need to be replaced" when it was time to pay. Why wasn't that explained to me after the initial diagnostic so I could deny the recharge and save my money and time, seems to me they knew that was the issue the whole time and recharging my system was completely unnecessary and costly. The tech also told me it was normal for a cars AC system to lose Freon over time, completely incorrect and if that was the case it wouldn't be like this in a 2018 vehicle unless there was a leak. They will be reported to the California Bureau of automotive repair. Wasted a lot of my money and time. Don't go here if you value your hard earned money. Will never ever go to pep boys again and will never recommend PEPBOYS to anyone. read more

I went into the store to to pick up a web order, first of all she could not find, and after 10 minutes she finally found it, but did not know how to process it. I told her that I had paid for it on line. she had no clue... During this time a Customer was waiting to pay for merchandise and he got frustrated and just walked out, it was unbelievable how she just ignored paying customers. After 15 minutes she then called her GM Daniel, they then started to argue about what time he was doing to be in the store, he then hung up on her. she called him back and asked him what time he was going to be in the store, and he could not give her an answer. I called a day before to set up an appointment for tires and a service to ensure they would have all the parts needed to ensure my truck would get done. I showed up at 1:30 for a two o'clock appointment to find out they never ordered any of the filters my truck needed.i was told they would not be able to get them even though I called a day in advance to make sure they would have them. Now they did order my tires and after 2 and a half hours got them mounted. The total time for an oil change and tires was almost four hours even with scheduling an appointment. That was enough to make me never want to go back to pep boys again but today they sealed the deal. They eventually would just brush me off and transfer. I'm a girl and I don't know much about my new car (Mercedes) compared to when I had my Honda. I used to take my car there for service. Things like wheel alignment, AC repairs, etc. Not anymore!! They charged me a full alignment price after they find out that I need to replace my lower control arm. Normally, other places will notify you about things like this ( damaged control arm, damaged shocks..etc ) before they charge you for the alignment. I ended up installing the control arms myself and took my car to Sears across the street for alignment instead. read more
