Ok let's start out by saying the Shop was clean, friendly and professional. Now let's match that with describing the entire Mechanical staff and management with the same qualities! Daniel and Curtis lead a team of exceptional mechanics with great attention to detail and a tone of understanding when money is a concern. I brought my car in for a brake flush because my pedal was sinking to the ground. Curtis, with high hopes warned me of a possible expensive root cause which would have been the master cylinder. Never the less he wanted to start with a basic inspection working through the brakes as a system and inspect the soundness of the system as a whole. My mechanic James found a minor issue with one of my brake lines that was kinked. I had kinked the brake line myself when I installed my new caliper. James reinstalled my caliper, did a complete brake line power flush and found a minor issue that would require future attention, but nonetheless completely resolved my issue within an hour and a half for $156. Totally and completely satisfied. If your in the promenade mall area and are in need of mechanical work. This would be my suggestion to you. I drove 30 minutes for this "appointment", and all the guy could say was there were other cars ahead of me. And the point for scheduling appointments is....? They have been bought out and the stores have been redesigned to accommodate commercial part sales over consumer walk ins. The retail side of the store is about 1/3 of what it used to be. It feels like an Orileys or Autozone . The merchandise has been reduced and variety is not much. The new owner wanted to cut back on the retail side ,and he sure did. I went there yesterday. They were slow. Got to my car to install tires bought though Amazon. They started my car 2hours late then started an inspection I didn't ask for, when I told them I didn't want an inspection they just quit doing the inspection and left the lid for the brake fluid off. I found the pieces sitting on top the battery .this is not a place to take your car for any reason. They are under staffed and take on work they can't do. The guy next to me was 9 hrs instead a spark plug change on a 07 fit I have nothing to add except don't go there. read more

Read and adhere to the reviews!!! Brought tires and wheels to them for install and alignment. 5 hours later 3 tires were flat and irreparable. Brand new tires! The valve stems were installed incorrectly. How does anyone install tires without checking them? It was my wife and I anniversary and we went to see a concert in Indio. Felt the steering shift and knew a tire was flat , just didn't know there were three until we pulled over. We ended up an hour late to concert and had to sleep in a hotel, Lyft, pay for food. And to add insult to injury, Pep Boys said they wouldn't pay for tow because I bought tires from elsewhere. Was told by Andrew to speak with manager on Monday. Monday, really? The shop I had the car towed to said valve stems were incorrectly installed and should have been checked prior to installation and alignment. I am now out over $700 for a crappy $90.00 job! I should've went with my first instincts and went to Mountain View tire‍ See the pics, they explain more than what I can write. Don't go to this Pepboys! Absolutely awful! I took my car in for a slow leak in the passenger side front tire. I left and came back when they called that the car was ready. I didn't get charged for anything so I assumed it was an easy patch job or something. Come to find out the next day that now the drivers side front tire has a slow leak. THEY JUST SWITCHED THE TIRES! So instead of the left passenger side, it's now the drivers side! What a big waste of time! Plus, when I took my car into Ramona Tire a week later, they showed me how that tire was so bald that it was on the verge of blowing. Pepboys never mentioned that my tires needed replacement. They just switched them hoping I wouldn't noticed they didn't do anything. Don't waste your time with Pepboys, go to Ramona Tire. Much better customer service and more honest. read more

And I was told for the first time in my life that it was against policy to replace just one flat tire on my all-wheel-drive, even though the other three were almost still new, however the salesperson informed me that he would be happy to replace all four...Huh? So I think I write pretty balanced reviews and try not to write a review when I'm too angry, so I can have as much of an objective view as possible. That said, here was my experience: "Check Engine" light came on. Went to Pep Boys to have them pull the code and run a diagnostic, which costs $44. They put the $44 towards labor if you do the work with them, nice of them! Turns out to be the catalytic converter, Robert in service said that since it was Sunday, anyone who could get them a quote had gone home and that he'd call me tomorrow. So far everything seems great right? Well, here's where it gets sucky. Monday: Robert never calls. Tuesday: I call, whowver answers promises to get me a quote by 10 AM Wed. Wed.: No call from Pep Boys. I call at 5 pm and service guy is incredibly rude. To top if off, I said" Was it the front or back Catalytic converter?" Service guys response? "Does it matter? You need to get it done regardless bro" Yes employee-of-the-month, it does matter, the difference between the 2 is about oh, $300, so it'd be nice to know. Who says that? In what world is that level of service ok? His manager needs to put him in a dark corner somewhere that doesn't interface with any humans at all, not his forte. Anywho, guy says he'll "find out" and call after the 4th of July holiday. (we all know how this is going to go) Ready? Friday: No call from your neighborhood Pep Boys. Gave them 600 dollars of my hard earned money to fix my car. 7 months later I had complications and my car stopped working. Took it to a good honest mechanic off Via Dos Picos (enough said) and they reported that due to the shoddy job that Pep Boys did with my car 7 months ago, they caused failure with another part. Didn't take it back to FAIL BOYS because they only warrant their shady work for 3 months. And they didn't even consider helping me with the costs associated with towing. New mechanic wrote me up a report on his behalf and gave me the faulty part to take to Pep Boys for compensation. I believe in Karma and times are tough, so the last thing I would ever want is jobs to disappear from Temecula, but Pep Boys really needs to get their act together. There's no point in having a business, if you're not even going to try and give decent service. read more

UPDATE: I just want to be fair here. I got my tire, so I upgraded to 3 stars, but I will still avoid this place in the future for reasons below. I was over near Pep Boys, so I went in to order the tire AGAIN. I have no choice if I want to match the other tires, as it's an exclusive Pep Boys tire. Well, they had the tire in the store! It came in, and they didn't know who it was for. I wasn't going to get a call, because they didn't know who to call, but I ended up getting the tire because I came into the store. A couple discrepancies though- And I'd forgotten this on the original post. When I originally called, I was quoted a price closer to $100 (can't remember exact amount) for 1 tire. AND- they told me the tire (Definity Dakota) was in stock. Then when I drove over there, it wasn't in stock. A similar less aggressive tire was in stock. The sales guy asked me, "Do you know the name of the person who told you that?" No, I did not, and I really didn't care if I knew his name because it wouldn't have made any difference to me the customer if I remembered his name. I don't know, maybe they thought he could pull the tire out of his @ss if I could just remember his name. So, because I was originally quoted the price for the wrong tire, I ended up paying closer to $150 with mount & balance. Had I been told that from the start, I wouldn't have had a problem, but it had the appearance of a classic "bait & switch." I don't think they actually did that, they just have some problems. If I had it to do over again, I'd have picked up the tire from Pep Boys and took it over to American Tire & Wheel, where I am fairly certain they would have mounted and balanced it for free, even though I didn't buy the tire there, but because I am their valued tire customer, and I'd just purchased 5 rims for my jeep there. To the manager who messaged me- Thank you Sir, I appreciate you reaching out. At the least that establishes you do care. If you would like to do something for me, tighten it up so the next guy doesn't have problems like this. LAST THING... Your employee, "Joe" did call and leave a voice message. Do not go!!! Had them do alignment on 4 wheels....so bad front 2 tires worn on inside so much had to get new ones. When took to them to fix alignment, said warranty out even though they did the job. Had me buy 2 new front tires and no compensation. Fought through credit card and they lied to the CC company...plus they said I could have work done under warrenty. When I spoke to them initially, they told me warranty past! Said for me to contact manager...that manager fired when I called, and new ones would not touch this. Again, do not go. Had to get an oil change and didn't want to pay dealership prices for a quick in-and-out. Thought it would be a good deal with Pep Boys but turned out it wasn't the best. I know it's one of those "you get what you pay for" situations. But if you say you do a ##-point inspection, then you should have it attached to final paperwork. Nope, no such paperwork at the end. Made an appointment for wheel/tire mount and balance at 1pm. Was told it would take about 2 hours. They didn't start on the car until about 3:30 and finished close to 6pm. Let me start off with this: in my experience as a customer and past employee of auto parts sales, it doesn't matter where you're from or where you go, parts stores are all the same. as far as staff goes. There's always the 1 guy on the phone, 1 guy running around like a chicken with it's head cut-off, for no apparent reason, and the 1 super helpful guy that doesn't know how to answer your questions. (i was the guy that walked in the back, when you walked through the door) OK, with that said, we just moved here from Hawaii, and my wife's brother gave us his car because he bought a new one. the car needed repairs, and we needed a battery test. so we drove up to this pep boys location with no appointment. as soon as we got there, young fella, greeted us immediately and assisted us, happily. We got our free battery test and was recommended to get a new battery, with no pressure. Pep boys offers a wide variety of items for your vehicles and services! We first started coming here because of advertisements but have since continued to come here because of their great service. We have a Chevy Cruze that has not treated us well and have relied on the services of pep boys in our many times in need. On more than one occasion we have brought our battery in for free testing and have also brought multiple cars here for free check engine light readings. We have also found that they have great deals on oil changes and tires! Sign up for their rewards program, you really can't beat these deals! My husband recently went to pep boys go purchase hurculiner for his jeep bed, $20 lower than competitors prices! Talk about a deal! Great location, easy to get in and out of the parking lots. Drop your vehicle off and walk to nearby eateries, bookstores or the mall while you wait for your service to be complete. Overall, 4 stars for us! read more

Came here for new tires (no problem) and oil change (BIG problem) The mechanic neglected to put a new sealer ring (?) when tightening up my oil thing... sorry for the technical jargon I noticed some oil on my garage floor the next day, took my husbands car instead. It's a good thing because my husband drove my car and ALL OF THE OIL RAN OUT OF MY CAR! Since my work took me to Riverside at 5:30am, I would have most likely been stranded on the 215. There is NO excuse for terrible service. Even an inexperienced monkey should know to put a new ring on the oil plug thing. One more thing, I got my wheels aligned and they did not provide the normal printout that every other mechanic gives that shows how far off the alignment was. read more

My family and I were on our way home to San Diego on a Sunday at 5:30pm...after camping all weekend...we had not one but TWO blow outs on our 5th wheel!!! In almost tears with a truck full of kids I called Pep Boys and spoke with Tyler...he said "get it here and I can help"....well we did get it there and he did just what he said!!! He could have easily locked up and closed leaving us stranded w 4kids...but he took a chance! He spoke it over with his boss Mr Billy Johnson and decided to help my family!!! We were back on the road in an hour and a half!!! We are SO grateful for these two guys who went out of their way to help us out when they really could have just locked up and went home. Usually I service my vehicle at Ramona Tire about a block up the street. They do a good job there but I have noticed their prices got inflated and there are lots of miscellaneous charges and they add up. So, I decided to try Pep Boys. They were a bit slow in helping me but once they wrote up my work order it was smooth sailing. They called me on additional work that was needed and because I told them I was defecting from Ramona Tire he gave me a discount so I saved some cash. I had my Kia serviced here, cylinder 3 was misfiring and I was having rough acceleration and loss of power. My service advisor Brandon was great! He was able to get part of my repair and diagnostic covered by my warranty company and applied coupons to the portion I was responsible for. It only took the service team about a day to have my car ready. I had a terrible experience at @ DCH Kia where they held my car over 2 weeks and made no progress on diagnosis let alone a repair. They also ignore my calls the whole time. So it was refreshing to have speedy service and responses. Do not buy anything from the store. Unlike any retail store where if you purchase something and the product is defected they'll give you a credit back, PEP BOYS WILL NOT. I purchased lights for our buggy had them installed and the lights were defected where they kept flickering on and off. After 10 days of purchase I returned it back to the store, with receipt and original box. They refused to replace or credit me even though I had the credit card and product practically new in the box. Their policy is if you open the box you void the return policy. The cashier was friendly and not in any way rude. She did explain the policy and just had me speaking to the store manager who was cold and rude. read more

This is probably one of the worst pep boys I have ever been too. I walk in there for a simple question and to have them pull the code on my Ford Focus which has the check engine light on. After standing there for 5 minutes unnoticed to the three guys standing at their computers. The guy finally asks me what I need and I tell him and he says I'll have a guy go out there and check it, just go stand by your car. 15 minutes pass and still no one comes out so I go back in a little bit upset but not showing it, and the guy cops an attitude saying they will go out there when they get the chance and that they're busy. Tell me that next time before you send me out there to wait unknowing that you were going to take so long. So I go back out and after 45 minutes I just left. How unprofessional and rude. read more

I have dealt with Chris for 2 of my cars I've had and no matter what the bad or good outcome of what needs to be done to my car...he is ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS professional and looking out for my best interest!! He is amazing and needs to be given more credit or bonus or something! I refer anyone that goes there to him! One thing that was unfortunate today when I went was that he was the only one ringing up and helping so many people and when he asked for help from the blonde that was at the registers she seemed to blow him off not even offering to see if anyone could help him. I put in an online order for two new tires. Their site said they would be available after 11AM the next day, so I used the online system to schedule an appointment for the afternoon. When I arrived for my appointment, the sales associate couldn't find the tires. I was told that the store is unable to determine where the tires were and that my only course of action was to call their customer service line. Nobody offered to call for me, nor did they attempt to find a different tire that was in stock. When I called the customer service line, the representative told me that there was no way to track the tires that I had ordered and that it was impossible to tell me when they would arrive. At that time I was driving on a temporary tire. My time was wasted, I still needed new tires, and nobody ever made an attempt to make things right. I went to America's Tire later that same day and had new tires on my car less than two hours later. Six days later, I received an email from Pep Boys that my order had been cancelled. I was on my way to Pep Boys and while stuck in traffic on the 15 steam started pouring out of my car. Thanks to the heater I just made it to Pep Boys before the car overheated. Jeff helped me and got my car and busted radiator right in. He was very helpful and explained what needed to be done. My car was fixed within 90 minutes- fortunately it wasn't one of their busier days- and I drove away feeling very well taken care of. I love taking my car in and knowing I'm not being taken advantage of, as I know other mechanics in town have done. I have been here for waiting for 4 hours for an alignment that was estimated to take no longer than an hour and a half. Meanwhile in the bay I've watched and have pictures of the installer opening my vehicles door and it slamming into the hanging hoses multiple times. He also didn't care about watching them hit the vehicle (metal component on the end) while he was maneuvering the hose to the other side. It wasn't until after he had jumped into the drivers seat multiple times that he finally put a seat cover on the seat. Frustrated and scared to inspect my vehicle. read more

I will never go to Pep Boys again after the last couple of experiences which have both been brake issues. When they've replaced our brakes, the continue to squeak. When we brought them in the first time they said it was because the brakes were wet, but don't worry they dried them off and they didn't squeak (what?!). The second time, they examined the car and told us that only the front brakes needed replacing. They started squeaking within a week. We took the car back due to the squeaking and horrible brake dust coming from one side. They tell us the back breaks are bad and need to be replaced and the brake dust is from the front overcompensating. But didn't they just examine my car and say only the front ones needed to be replaced?! The scam you and aren't worried about customer service. Absolutely frustrated! read more

Update: After talking to a big wig at corporate, it is abundantly clear that this company will stand behind their "policy" 100% (of not honoring warranties because of car being sold; even though it has only been 6 weeks since repairs), but they stand behind their work 0%! DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR VEHICLE! My son bought his first car 1 1/2 weeks ago. The former owners had paperwork on the car and a receipt from Pep Boys for $3,500 on a new engine. It was dated 2/14/16 and had a 6 month/ 6,000 mile warranty. 6 weeks after the work was done, my sons check engine light came on; we ran the codes and it is a misfiring cylinder- under warranty. Today we went to Pep Boys for them to repair it and they refused! They said that since the car was sold it negates the warranty!! Seriously??? How can you only back up your work for a mere weeks?? We just need this issue fixed! Has anyone else had this problem? I called corporate and I'm waiting to hear back- I'll keep you posted! I would give no stars if that was an option. I made an early appointment to be seen. I was there on time. When I got there they asked me to wait for another vehicle that was on its way. I waited 45 mins. I waited because I'm 7 months pregnant and have a 1 year old. It's hard for me to get around and take her in and out of the car. I ended up leaving because I didn't have time to wait any longer. I now have to drive around with no air conditioning and a funky smell coming from my engine in this heat.
