Will not go here again. Thought they were honest and professional. Only to find that every vehicle I bring there gets a flat tire a week or two later. Then just recently got new tires and got two flats on two different tires. They want to blame it on valve stem. I asked if there were any additional times today, he stated no. I stated, "ok, just so you are aware your website has you available every hour on the hour from 11 am to 7 pm." Getting ready to go back to Florida after the holidays. Had a popping noise in the right tire (possible tie rod ends, sway bar, CV Joint etc.) any local shop could have used any one of those items as an excuse to replace. Everything checked out ok, turned out to be something minor that does not affect drivability or safety. My radiator exploded on the 10 eastbound in bumper to bumper traffic. My AAA took us to another place that was unreasonably priced. Pep Boys was near by so we went there for an inspection. It was 3 days until payday and Lyndsey was able to help us. She was so kind and generous, she made our horrible experience seem not as bad. She arranged for rides for us to and from our home in Palm Springs. The work was fantastic. My car runs better now than it has in years. I went to this Pepboys on a Saturday 8-30-14 Labor Day weekend mind you. The employee, Angel, told me try and get there by 5:45 pm cuz they closed at six. My BMW has run flats so I crawled there and arrived at 5:50. Not only did he stay an hour late on his work day to help me with my flat, he actually talked with me and answered all my questions. I felt like an actual customer not just a transaction number. This kid changed my tire with mounting and balancing in 96 degree heat. Then after he closed the entire shop he comes in and gives me an ice cold water and I was sitting inside the air conditioned lobby! I hope his management reads this and praises him in their next public meeting. Angel is a fine example of customer service AND customer retention. I will definitely be back for any tire related needs. You guys need 10 of him working there. Hope this review helps everyone. read more

I need to give a shout out to the service I received today. I don't use Pep Boys, but since it was Sunday and only a few of the major stores here are open, I picked these folks. The procedure was easy enough. I had a shredded 16" tractor tire and provided my own used tire. The manager Amy who had a busy shop going on assigned Robert to the task. Robert who is on light duty, directed Casey to handle the job. Casey took care of me in quick fashion. Speaking with Robert, I learned that both he and Casey are Marines. Being a proud Marine dad of daughter who is a Marine, I immediately bonded and couldn't be more proud of these Marines. I am very grateful to Amy who was quite courteous and professional. Do not bring your car here. Originally came here just for an oil change and to get my rear brakes replaced and they recommended other services to be done such as changing out my rotors and wheel bearings totaling up to about $1600. Not knowing too much about cars I let them do the work they recommended to be done and long story short, they messed up my car and it doesn't drive the same. They were supposed to use specialized equipment on my Mercedes to change out some metal plates in order to remove the wheel bearing but instead, it looks like they used a hammer to put it back in to place as the metal plate looks like it was completely smashed in (manager of chino hills location told me). I've had to take it to Pepboys 5 times and wasted so much time waiting around, getting ubers to get home as I leave the car there overnight for them to fix the issue they created themselves. I thought my car was finally fixed the last time I took it to the Chino Hills location but it continues to make a horrible grinding noise but pepboys said they don't offer refunds and "stand by their warranty." Save yourself the trouble of taking your car to this place. They should have never recommended those services and taken on the job if they were not capable or knowledgeable in handling Mercedes vehicles. read more

Below is what I submitted to the corporate offices yesterday. I would not recommend this place and will never go back here again. I am writing regarding a very unpleasant experience in your Yucaipa California store. I looked online for snow chains in stock and it showed they were in stock at the Yucaipa store. So I entered in my name and email address and said they could pick them up that evening but it was late so I went the next morning. I picked them up yesterday my husband took one look and said those are not chains those are cables. So I took them back to the store today with my receipt and said I wanted a refund because I wanted snow chains and they were the wrong item. A girl named Amy was behind the counter and she first said "where is your receipt?" and I said I had it right here and I gave it to her and she said "well I don't think you can return them because you can't return used items" I said I bought them yesterday morning and they're still in the box untouched. Then she said she had to get permission from her manager to do a return she called her manager and said "does that same thing we did last year still apply this year with the returns because somebody wants to return special items" and she told him OK to whatever he said and they hung up and she said there's a 20% restocking fee for special orders I said well this wasn't a special order this was an item you had in stock I actually came in the store and paid for it and pick it up on the same day because you had them here already. She said it doesn't matter you won't get a full refund we keep 20%. I told her I don't see that anywhere not on my receipt or on the website nobody said it when I bought them (the two women at the counter the day I bought them actually treated me like an inconvenience and stated it was a pain to go in the back and get them because they are not a real store. What does that even mean?) I asked Amy to let me speak to the manager she said no. I insisted then she called the manager back and talked to him again and hung up and then she said you can't talk to him. I said well I would like to then speak to your regional or division manager and she said 1-800-Pep-Boys. I repeated three times "I would like the name of your regional or district manager" so four times she refused to give me the information I requested. She said 1-800-Pep-Boys every time. So obviously they think they're above anybody reaching out beyond them. Steven Woodbury was the manager she called. When I left there I called 1-800-Pep- Boys and was told they do not handle store complaints. So I then called your Redlands California location to the number of someone in charge of the area and spoke to Marvin Chase the manager there he said I could go in there and he would take care of it because they're not a special order item there a seasonal item which makes sense to me and nobody ever stated anything about 20% until I went to return them. The Redlands location is a half an hour drive for me but I would rather go there and do the return and spend the money on gas because I will never go back into that Yucaipa location again. Very frustrating and aggravating experience and then to treat me as if I'm so stupid that I wouldn't know that they would have a regional or district manager I'm also uploading copies of my receipts and copies from the website that says they're in stock nowhere does it say 20% fee. read more

I am very happy to report I was able to support this business as it is local here in Yucaipa. Although the length of time it took to do some repair work on my rotors and get new tires, Ric my attendant made sure that the situation was rectified and I'll be coming back for future repair work. I had taken my truck to have some brake work done last week and took my Lexus in today. Customer service is what it's all about. Try them out! My first experience at this location. The service request was a standard oil change. I was greated by Steve who promptly had my car taken to the service area. Mike did the oil change and tire rotation on time and within the quoted time limit. Upon finishing my car I prpepared to leave and found my oil change setting had been reset (hit and miss at other establishments) AND a Pepboys card thanking me proudly displayed on my dash. The service team were professional, friendly, and geniune. The facility was clean AND neat which says volumes about the team who work there. I've worked with many shops over the years and know bad, good and outstanding service. This team does more than talk the talk. They definitely know the walk. Car was overheating so I took it in for repair. They ran a coolant system diagnostic test and told me my radiator hose had become loose and was leaking coolant. Was told they reattached the hose and car would be back to normal. I got some other work done to the vehicle totaling close to $1100. I take the car off the lot and it overheats within 3 miles, so I take it back. They took my vehicle and called me back the next morning telling me it's good to go and that they replaced the thermostat at no charge. I did not receive any paperwork regarding this repair. My car recently started overheating again so I took it to another location and was told the thermostat housing is leaking. I told them that the thermostat was recently replaced at PepBoys and they told me there was no record of the repair. I called Yucaipa PepBoys this morning and they told me they have no idea what work was done when I took my car in the second time after I paid $1100 in repairs, so now I will have to pay another $950 to repair undocumented PepBoys work on my vehicle. Very shady, will not be returning to this location. read more

Changing my review from 5 to 3... still friendly but this time the wait was about 1.5 hrs... they let the aor out of my tires saying they were too full then my sensor came on. They told me to take it to the dealership like it was a car issue... nope brand new car... then the price was too high... yeah probably not goo g to go back... my car in for a routine oil change and was in and out in about 30 minutes. In the same month I took two different vehicles in to get an oil change here. In one of them they didn't put enough oil in so the warning light came on a week after (had to take it in to another pep boys in Redlands) and they put the wrong mileage on the reminder sticker of my other car. Called and spoke to the Assistant Manager who didn't even apologize but supposedly took down my number to have the manager call me back (she said she couldn't do anything). Props to this Pep Boys. After pulling into our hotel in Beaumont, California, I noticed a big nail in the driver side front tire. It was 4pm. After checking in, I jumped on my smart phone and found a Pep Boys that was still open on a Saturday until 6pm. I called them up and spoke to Steven who said he could take care of it for me if I could bring it down now but I would have to wait 45 minutes. It only took me 15 minutes to get there and they took my car right away. Wait time was only 30 minutes. Being a Rewards member, this service was free to boot! When the front end of my car caught a piece of flying debris on the freeway over 60 miles from home, I needed help with a quick repair so that I could make the rest of the drive. Not only did these guys get me in right away when I rolled up, but they did the simple repair quickly and then refused to even let me pay them! My family and I were headed up to Big Bear when we realized at the Checkpoint for chains that our chains were too small. We drove back down the mountain and came across this Pep Boys Service Center. We were able to purchase chains that fit our vehicle. The employee took the extra time to come out to our vehicle and show us how to put the chains in the car. It was so appreciated especially given the fact that we were trying to put on the chains that were too small for over 30 minutes. We greatly appreciate the extra effort! read more

I made an appointment to have my headlights and my wipers replaced. Everything was great until I got in my car and started my engine. I see my check engine light on and traction light on. Both of which should not have been on, because they were not on when I brought my car in today. I don't leave the parking lot at this point. I turn the car off and on a couple of times, and the lights don't turn off. I go back into the store to inform them that the lights are on. The service manager Steven proceeds to ask his mechanic what happened. And the mechanic proceeds to tell a service manager that the lights were already on when he drove the car in to the garage. That is a lie! My car had no lights on when it was brought in. And with a rude and condescending tone, the service manager tells me that the lights were already on and that removing headlights would not cause the lights to go on. He then walks away with his hands up, like he didn't care. The nice young lady who is helping me brings a machine out to run codes to figure out what is causing my check engine light and traction light to come on. Miraculously both lights turn off once she runs the machine, I presume resetting the system, and no codes are coming back. Shocking!! Steve should've handled the situation differently. He should've done what the young lady did, instead he was rude and blew me off. I will probably not bring my car back to this location and I'm sure doesn't matter to them if I do or don't. And I also filed a complaint with Pep Boys corporate. I'm giving 2 stars because the young lady who helped me was nice and courteous. read more

I came into the shop to get my car checked out since my BRAKE light would come on intermittently. I had never serviced the brakes and thought it was probably the cause of it. Everyone was inviting and friendly and they set me up with a time to bring the car in so I wouldn't have to wait there at the shop. When I returned they quickly took my car for the brake inspection (it's free by the way) and gave me the news. My pads were more than fine and everything looked great. The Brake fluid was just on the low side.they topped it off and I was ready to go. No charge. I couldn't believe it. I am somewhat on the cynical side so this act of honesty left me a bit shocked. Since I had not inspected the brakes myself they could have easily told me I needed both axles serviced or just about anything.The auto repair world is unfortunately notorious for scams and dishonesty but I feel that I have now found a place I can trust. While I did not need their services today, they definitely earned my business in the future. read more
