Jose Calderon and his team came out on top of 4 other HVAC businesses I met with. The PepCal team has a great reputation online and has been in business over 10 years. Jose's initial consultation, communication and professionalism was on point. He was on time for the appointment, carefully reviewed my existing system and answered all of my questions. He was also the only one that was able to modify a Trane system and make an XR16 SEER to qualify as 17 SEER with larger coil (certified). He informed me about the CPS rebate program for early replacement and even helped fill out the application. I was very specific about not to rush the job and to protect my wooden floors, new carpet, furniture, and walls in my home, which was respected. Jose was present during the install and his team was in sync with all of my asks and all went as expected. They installed a Trane 2x 3Ton 17 SEER variable speed systems. A day after, I noticed that one of the systems was making a slight rumbling noise. Jose was very responsive and professional and came back the next day to diagnose the issue. Ultimately, he replaced the motor and blower. Jose offered multiple payment options with a cash incentive discount and was willing to adjust his price to deliver a competitive offer. I have nothing but good things to say about Pepcal. Jose was very professional on the phone and in person and it was easy to see that he wanted to provide the best service possible. He's very customer oriented and willing to help. I needed to replace my entire system and called around a bit. After receiving quotes from another company, I was pleased to find that Pepcal offered a top-of-the-line Trane system for slightly less than the other company's mediocre brand system. On top of that, Pepcal's warranty was much better than the other guys. The crew was very professional and had a clean appearance. They wore masks the entire time and, began wearing boot covers inside the house when it started to drizzle outside. They were very friendly and didn't mind answering any curious questions that I had. Installed the Nest Thermostat and then something crapped out on my AC. Called PepCal at 11:00pm and he was out the Next Morning to diagnose the problem. Didn't try to sell me on anything, but educated me, and made some future recommendations since I have an older unit. Once I got the price it would cost to fix the issue, I shopped around and couldn't believe the up-charges these other big name companies were trying to charge (service call fees mainly) and their lack availability. As a fairly new homeowner (less than 5 years) it's hard to find an honest technician. Not only did Jose educated me on what was the problem with my AC system he also made honest recommendations. He arrived on time and got to work right away. He showed me exactly where the problem was and fixed it right away. The previous company was quick to say I needed a new system however Jose checked the entire system and said it wasn't necessary. Jose Calderon, what can I say... well, this guy is a lifesaver for sure. After a stressful week of getting a new car, A/C going out, dog needing surgery, and 9 month pregnant wife (who was also stressed), Jose really came through for us. We had a total of 3 different estimates from A/C companies, and decided to go with Pepcal because I got the feeling immediately Jose was very honest, professional, and the price was right. He brought a price book with him which put me at ease, because the other companies just came up with a price off the top of their heads and their prices were extremely high. After talking with my father (a contractor in New Orleans), he told me not to go with the other companies because I would end up paying tons of overhead charges. We received a Westinghouse brand heat pump and A/C unit and the work was completed at a top notch level. Jose will offer you the personal care a good customer deserves, and he is nice to our dogs. I made an appointment for a weekend morning, He called 20 minutes before the appointment time and arrived on time. He checked the system and said there was a problem but was not exactly sure what the problem was and could not find some of the information he needed on the unit. he said he needed to contact the manufacturer to get the info and he could not do that since they were closed due to it being a weekend. He said he would contact them when they were open and get back with me, and he would not charge me a second service call if he needed to come back out. A couple days later I left a message to see if he got a hold of the manufacturer and found out anything, I did not receive any reply. A week later I contacted another company who came out and found that the unit was low on freon. They added some freon to the system and it is working great. So thank you Pepcal for taking my money and not fixing the problem. read more
