This was the first time we dined at Peppercorns and It was a very satisfying experience. Our server, Tanya was quite knowledgeable and sweet and checked on us periodically. My hubby had the filet steak tips and I chose the cod fish and both were excellent. We also enjoyed the wonderful ambiance; warm and cozy. We definitely will be back requesting Tanya. The food was ok, steak cooked perfectly, in the old Applebee's, they did some cosmetic stuff but still basically Applebee's. Our server was Liz and she was awesome. New place so we had to give it a try. For what you get I don't think it is worth the price. The ribeye was a thin cut but good, and the baked potatoes came with just butter, so if you want chives, sour cream, bacon or cheese you have to ask for it. I did mess up and didn't ask for it loaded, my fault. Overall not terrible, worth a try. read more

Eeks...second visit...so much is still wrong after a few months! Sat at the bar at 4:30ish on a Friday afternoon (only patron at the bar) and ordered the 'House Steak Tips'...asked for them Med Rare with rice and Veg as is described on the menu...what was served was what looked like beef stew with mashed no veg...asked the bartender for the missing veg and told her I'd stick with mashed even tho I ordered rice. The veg arrived when I was half done. These are NOT steak tips but closer to well done pot roast...made with Filet Mignon...what a waste of good meat! The menu has an asterisk that indicates they can be cooked to order...which obviously they can't. I spoke to the Manager after I paid the check and he said he reminded the bartender (before the meal was prepared) they can't be ordered MR...like that was all that was needed. Uhhhm...how about check with the customer to see if they were OK with well done Filet stew rather than MR grilled Steak tips? Clearly the bartender doesn't know the menu, and the order should have been questioned not only by the manager, but the cook, and eventually the customer. Fix the menu, train the staff, and make sure everyone knows the menu (I bartended for 5 years in a high paced restaurant where everyone needed to pass a menu and beverage test before they faced a single customer) Score should be lower but I don't want to kick them when they're obviously down... read more

Well where do you start? First read the earlier reviews and take note. First and foremost it's a nice restaurant and the interior layout is done well. Our waitress/hostess when we arrived was very nice and personable. She was also the bartender and her drinks were done well. It all kind of falls apart after that, as we ordered two appetizers ( French onion soup which was good and clam chowder which was fair). Two house salads with house dressing which were nothing special. So here's the kicker as we just started on our salad and soups here comes our main course. The server apologetic takes them back to the kitchen (which we knew means we'll get the same meals back just reheated). We assume the manager delivered the meal and assured us it wasn't just reheated. We were correct here comes the meal over heated plates and cold or lukewarm food. The server brought out one new dish which was hotter but overdone and bland. All the meals were fair nothing spectacular and mostly unfinished and no leftover taken home just half eaten plates sent back. To her credit the server removed the one meal from the bill. All the while again the manager or owner we presume was back and forth (especially as we were seated 10 feet from the hostess stand) and not once stopped of checked in. Believe the reviews this place could begin to shine but right now you're at a 50/50 shot with the food. One more pet peeve when the staff congregates out front near the table and hang out taking loudly and oblivious to the patrons around them that's a huge negative in my opinion. read more

There with a large party for Happy Hour in the bar. Manager Jeremy was friendly and accommodating. Nicole was a wonderful server, quick and thorough. Food was excellent, my group ordered drinks, appetizers and some of us full meals. The filet was delicious. I hope to return soon and enjoy another lovely meal! read more

First I would like to say it still looks like Applebees from the furniture to the glasses. They have tables but insisted on putting us at a high top in the bar. We had asked about moving but were made to feel guilty as it would be in another server's section. Salad wasn't much but ok. My daughter got the French onion soup which was very bland , as were the southwest egg rolls. My filet was fine but the strip steaks that my husband had were like Waffle House steaks, extremely thin so overcooked. Mind you they were the same price as my Filet. read more

We ate at Peppercorns today for the first time. The price to value of Peppercorns is very good. Was it as good as meals you might pay $35-60 per entree? Generally no. But in its class of restaurant we thought it was very good. Dollar for dollar it stacks up very well. The steak tips were good (served piping hot with good mashed potatoes) and my wife had the stuffed shrimp and they were very good also. Attentive service and good layout. I think a lot of people fail to take value and cost into consideration. You cannot compare The Capital Grill to Outback for instance. You can compare Outback to Longhorn and Capital Grill to Flemings. So Peppercorns stacks up well against its peers IMO. read more

Four of us went here for Valentines Day. The food was wonderful and cooked correctly as ordered. Two people had Filet Mignon medium rare, one person prime rib and the last person beef tips in veggies and rice. Everyone loved their meal. Additionally, our waitress Ang was lovely and funny and good!! Also, the prices were really reasonable for wine!! They had several high end bottles on special (Rombauer) for $40! They need to invest in a new chef. Food service wrong, or cold. The steaks were not "prime" but choice cuts. My prime rib was very stringy and a lot of fat. My wife's New York Strip, the same choice cuts which was very hard to chew. No baked potato available without an extra 40 minute wait, this was told to us AFTER our food was served. Many good things: The host and waitstaff were excellent. Sophia is an amazing server. The restaurant was clean. The alligator eggrolls were good, and they came with two different sauces. The french onion soup and baked scallops were also good. The shepherd's pie was outstanding and reminded me of the best meat pie I've ever had in a pub in London. The portion sizes were big. We left full. The ONLY negative was the cup of rice pilaf. It literally tasted like smoke and old cigarette butts. It's almost like a chronic smoker in the kitchen smoked and put out their butts right next to the sack of rice, which then absorbed the smell. It was disgusting. But we also didn't complain about this to the server; we just set the cup aside, which is on us. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised given the number of negative reviews. I was very disappointed in the meals I ordered for myself, my sister and 93 yr old father. What we ordered: Two Cesar Salads with chicken Zucchini Sticks Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Chips The salad should have been romaine lettuce though whatever kind it was, the greens were soggy and that was prior to the dressing being added as they had that in a small cup for take-out. The spinach and artichoke dip was thick and tasteless and the chips were stale. The zucchini sticks should have come with a red sauce for dipping yet it came with Ranch. I paid $60+ for a meal we could barely eat, throwing most of it in the trash. When I arrived at the restaurant at around 5:00 PM I was the only patron there and waited about 5 minutes for the meals. It's pretty clear to me why no one else visited this place and I will not go back again. read more

Our second time here, and provide five stars each visit. Any new restaurant/establishment deserves an opportunity to get the routines/smoothness in order. Thus, I feel some of the reviews are a little unfair. This second visit, my husband had the beef tips with rice pilaf. I had the stuffed chix marsala w/rice pilaf. Both dishes were prepared perfectly. We've only had wonderful tableside service. We feel the prices are reasonable. The interior still does look a little similar to the former Applebee's, but heck, give the place sometime to make more enhancements. We too were fond patrons of A's, yet, it is what it is. We like this place. It's got great service and delicious food, and will continue to enjoy. Ample free parking, easy in/out, and the restrooms are not filthy as previous stated. They are very clean. The restaurant is new and in what I call the honeymoon phase. Clean and nice with plenty of seating. The food is good. We came during the day/lunch period. They are severely short staffed and not able to fully seat the restaurant. And follow-up was almost non existent. The orders were close to what we ordered We will go back and give them another try in a few months. They just need to work out the kinks. read more

Never going back. Three of us showed up for an early dinner around 4:30. We were showed to a table by a very disinterested hostess. We sat there and sat there with no waitress attending to us. A waitress eventually showed up to the seating area but took a drink order from a table that came in after us. I expected her to immediately take our drink order but she didn't even acknowledge us. First time going into building since Applebees. Some remodeling but basically the same foot pront. There were 6 of us and a baby in stoller. Wasn't to busy for Sunday lunch so waitress wasn't that busy and more attentive to us.Food came out hot and tasty. Since it was Grandma's 88 birthday we got her some chocolate cake and the rest of us shared two pieces of key lime pie.So foodis good, service is good and then ambience- the building has a ventilation problem ( starts at front door) and needs attention or customers won't be back for a second visit. We stopped for lunch today and, initially was hesitant since there weren't many cars in the lot. I'm glad we stayed. You can tell immediately it was an updated Applebees but that's where it ended. I ordered the Bourbon Steak Tip which I substituted with a baked potato without a problem. My husband had the Low Country meatloaf and our friend had the Fish and Chips. We all enjoyed our meals and my husband raved about the meatloaf which he rarely does. It has a mix with sausage. The server was very sweet and made a few recommendations. My husband and I went to Peppercorn's today approximately 4 PM. they did have different lampshades on their lights, which were very beautiful, peppercorns was very clean. Our waiter Anthony was exemplary very attentive. They also changed the menu. I had chicken marsala. It was excellent with a Mediterranean salad. I was very pleased from A-to-Z I feel they have come a long way and they are trying to give people what they want. They do have a different cook, which makes a big difference, so please give peppercorns another try if you've been there before and had a bad experience .The new menu is so much better. We decided to try this new restaurant and it will be our last visit. The food was just mediocre. I ordered a burger well done but it was NOT well done. The waitress never came back to ask how things were so I wasn't able to send it back...my husband ordered bread which never arrived until we were paying the bill. He ordered chicken Marsala with rice which was not very good but again, the waitress never came and asked. When she brought the bill, the price was correct until she ran our charge card then the bill jumped up 13.00 from what she had given us we had to get the manager to fix the bill.The waitress was rude and not accommodating at all. read more
