What a nice surprise! My wife took me here for my birthday last night and we were so impressed. The moment we walked in we were greeted by a friendly host who showed us to our table without having to wait. We did have a reservation. Side note: I'd recommend making one. Our server, Joshua was very attentive, grabbed our drink orders quickly and gave us the run down on the menu and the specials. We decided to go with mostly a meal of specials. We ordered the clams for an appetizer, my wife had the halibut and I had the beef tenderloin pasta. We split the salad with goat cheese and sunflower seeds. The clam appetizer was swimming in butter and garlic goodness. We kept dipping the bread in the butter at the bottom of the bowl. The halibut was amazing. Prepared perfectly with the potato croquette and vegetables on the side. The beef tenderloin pasta came with a creamy peppercorn sauce that was to die for. We both had a glass of wine as well. Portions were more than we could finish, so we'll have lunch today as well. Didn't get to try any dessert as we had birthday cake at home, but will next time. I highly recommend this spot. Compliments to the entire staff, all very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming as well. Loved the background music as well, everything from Otis Redding to Michael Buble. High marks on all counts. The atmosphere as you step into the entry sets the tone for a cozy, fine dining experience. We had a group of six seated upstairs. We were told we needed to finish at a certain time so the table was available for their next seating. That wasn't a problem. We had plenty of time to enjoy a cocktail, salad or appetizer, dinner and dessert. I had the rigatoni with beef tips in a cream sauce special.I hesitated because you don't often see cream sauce with beef tips. Our server recommended the dish. I am glad he did.it was delicious with fork tender beef tips. My husband got the chicken special. It too was delicious. Everyone loved their meal. Our friend commented the veal saltimbocca was the best she ever had. It seems you can't go wrong with any selection. Our server was attentive but not offensively so. Buona mangiata! read more

My daughter took me here for my birthday!! I ordered the Pollo Marsala with the pasta rigatoni with beef tips !! Absolutely delicious!! The food was so good as well as the ambiance of the place . Very good portion of food . The chicken Marsala came with green beans and what looked like a twice baked potato. The Marsala sauce was perfect. Then I ordered the tiramisu which was perfect !!! Tried their outdoor patio with the heaters, and it was pretty nice on a 45deg evening. We got the eggplant parm app and it was tasty. The tomato sauce was thick and rich plus the cheese and herbs on top worked out nicely. It's a bit expensive for the small portion though. Canelloni was excellent as usual! read more

If you want to experience fine dining, come to Peppe's Apt. 2. Everything was topnotch: the dining room was intimate and cozy, the service great, and the food was wonderful. Our waitress, Wendy, walked us through the menu and mentioned the halibut was very popular. So we each ordered it - and loved it. I ordered the 5 course European dinner - a very good value for an appetizer, pasta, entree, salad, and dessert. Also, a great way to try multiple menu items . Each course was stellar. We had the meatballs for an appetizer, both had the house salad and then I enjoyed the chicken Marsala while my wife had the beef cannelloni. All were excellent. First time at this restaurant. Our reservations were at 7:45. We didnt get seated until 8:15. Once seated, our service was "rushed" and unrelaxing. Our server was constantly interrupting our conversation and asking to remove plates...even though others were still eating. Basically, we couldn't just relax and enjoy ourselves. I'm not sure if that was just his over aggressive style of waiting tables...or they just wanted to rush out of there so they could leave work. The entire experience was annoying. So, we visited with a party of 9 on a Wednesday and the place was more or less at capacity. So get yourself a reservation, and you may need to bump your party up to 5:45. The restaurant is located on a quiet Kirkwood side street in an old corner store building that's been renovated with classic Italian/ rustic decor. The space is white and bright, clean and formal. We split a few appetizers to start. The standout was the pan fried goat cheese, but I hate to mention it because it was off menu! But it makes me think going with the specials is a safe bet. The entree I had was the halibut, which had recently been highlighted in Sauce Magazine. It was good. I don't know if I'd say it was a top ten dish of all time or anything. Mine was just slightly over cooked and the sides were very basic--some potatoes and French cut green beans. There was an oil beneath that was quite delicious which I have to imagine deserved to be better represented on the plate, but it was just a dash on my dish. With the amount of diners, the restaurant was likely in quite the panic. Apparently everyone had a birthday that night--including me! The complimentary panna cotta was fresh and the perfect amount, thanks Peppe! I can't wait to return for a date night. I also want to try the five course tasting menu, but everyone in your party has to agree to do it, but it's very reasonably priced! OMG! The halibut was phenomenal and the service was outstanding! There is parking in the back, but it is limited. The ambiance is nice, but it gets a little loud with conversations for some reason since the interior of the restaurant is all hard walls. I did overhear that there is an upstairs, but I have not seen that. The soft bread knots are good and the chianti classico wine was good, but overpriced compared to the same bottle at Sugo's and Louie. The vanilla flan and the cannoli were just okay. A wonderful fine dining restaurant located in a renovated old home near downtown Kirkwood. You will be hard pressed to find better fine Italian dining anywhere else in the county. The main dining room has a classic and timeless monochromatic interior adorned with beautiful vintage chandeliers and white linen tables. There is a small but attractive bar in the corner that we had a drink at while waiting for our table. The staff is well versed in the menu and wine list, and was very attentive throughout the dining experience. While we dined inside, they also have a beautiful patio which I've heard is also a fantastic place to eat & drink when the weather permits! We were with another couple and shared the appetizer samplers which was a great way to start the night and had multiple dishes, something for everyone to enjoy. The salads, soups, and mains were all wonderful and everyone left happy and full. This is a great place for a nice evening out or a special occasion. We look forward to returning! read more
