    Glazed yeast donut ($1.75)
    Jennifer O.

I found Perfect Donuts to be an intersection between your stick-to-the-basics and trendy donut spots. They have all the classic characters but a variety of cronut flavors as well. FYI you get 30% off when you pay with cash. For a first impression, I always go with the classic glazed yeast donut ($1.75). I went around 9am and was surprised to see just a few left, but maybe they make more throughout the day. It was a bit more dense than how I like my donuts but not in an overwhelming way. It's not my favorite glazed around town but still pretty decent. The woman helping me was super pleasant! As for parking, it was easy to find a spot in the mall. Turnover seemed pretty high with people coming in and out for donuts.

    Delicious freshly made donuts!

How this is not rated as the top donut in LA County, I just don't understand. I am a next level greedy professional when it comes to donuts and if you know donuts, then you know there's a sweet spot to hit I. The "perfect" donut, which is a combo of: light & fluffiness, a rich density of the dough and then the quality and coverage of toppings (glaze, crumb, frost, etc.). This place gets 5 stars on all 3. If you're a newbie and wanna play it safe your first time, then grab a basic glaze (twist or round) and a maple donut- tastes like caramel! If you're advance are ready to go all in, get a Cronut, an apple fritter and a cinnamon roll with the crumb on top. You can thank me later! While I've never tried their food, there's always a line of people ordering burritos, burgers and plates, that swear that their food is their best kept secret. That's on my to do list- After a donut (or 3) of course!

    Bacon maple cronut!

Best milkshakes around. A bit hard to find though because the sign doesn't say "Perfect Donuts." It says "Cafe Donuts."

My son didn't make a reservation because it was a Wednesday night and he didn't think it would be crowded. But with 5 adults and a baby carriage, we had to wait for the right table because the somewhat small restaurant was full. We soon got a good spot and ordered the shrimp ceviche and the pan fried dumplings for appetizers. The ceviche was served on a bed of crispy noodles and it was refreshing and satisfying. The dumplings were crispy, not greasy, and flavorful. For dinner, we got 2 orders of japchae and 3 orders of bibimbap. With 2 Korean-born children and having visited the country, those are among our family's favorite dishes. And they did not disappoint. The japchae noodles were just right. They were not too firm and not too soft and well-seasoned. With a mixture of veggies, meat, mushrooms, eggs, and that delectable sauce, the bibimbap tickled and satiated the tastebuds. I told the server there was a birthday at the table and she brought out an excellent creme brulee with a candle in it. My husband and I didn't pay the bill. But the prices were reasonable with most of the entrees costing less than $20 each. We have four more days in town and may very well make another visit to indulge in that scrumptious food.

I ordered the double cheeseburger, and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was packed with flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the buns were soft, fluffy, and airy. The patties weren't smash burgers and were on the thinner side, but they were still juicy and satisfying. My husband ordered the BBQ burger, and he really enjoyed his as well. For our side, we shared the loaded tots. They were crispy, well-seasoned, and a great addition to the meal. Service was good overall. The cashier seemed a little serious at first and didn't really greet us, but when we asked to swap out a drink, she was very accommodating and didn't charge us extra. There was a small misunderstanding when I asked about side options, but she quickly explained that another table had the menu and went to grab one for us. She was friendly and helpful throughout the rest of the interaction. The restaurant was clean, which I always appreciate. The atmosphere could use a little improvement, though. It felt a bit stuffy inside, two of the three menu screens weren't working, and it was very quiet with no music playing, which made the dining room feel a little empty. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight and I'd come back for the burgers and loaded tots.

We visited the Burbank location on Glenoaks and ordered the 2 Piece White plate ($19) which comes with baked beans and coleslaw, along with sweet teas. We went medium spice and it was the perfect call -- enough heat to let you know it's there without overwhelming the incredible flavor of the chicken itself. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat was extraordinarily juicy -- this is some of the best fried chicken in the city, full stop. Fresh, never frozen, natural and hormone-free chicken fried in peanut oil -- and you can taste the difference. The baked beans were sweet and comforting -- a perfect Southern companion to the chicken. The coleslaw rounded out the plate nicely and the sweet tea was exactly what you want in a spot like this. Our waitress was exceptionally accommodating and made excellent recommendations that guided us in the right direction -- that kind of attentive, knowledgeable service makes the whole experience feel special. The atmosphere is old school diner all the way -- checkered tablecloths, no frills, just great food and genuine Southern hospitality. The whole experience felt like a step back in time in the best possible way. At $19 for a two piece white meat plate with two sides this is outstanding value for the quality you're getting. Gus's is the real deal and deserves every bit of its reputation. If you haven't been, fix that immediately.
