I agree with a prior review that this restaurant is similar to IHOP and Dennys. I saw they have a Pineapple Upside Down Muffin and ordered that. It was extremely dry and they also provided butter with it, verifying they were aware it was. I was anticipating it to be moist. I also ordered the blueberry French toast with scrambled egg and bacon. The muffin is covered in a blueberry compote. The muffin is also dry, so I ordered more compote. The eggs were cooked as I requested. My dad ordered the eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was not up to par and the eggs were not runny; rather they were cooked medium. He was not happy with the meal. We both ordered hot chocolate. Don't bother - it is Swiss Miss. The only thing good about it was the whipped cream. Our server Mike was overworked and came by about every 10 minutes. We never got our water refilled. He did promptly bring our sides we requested. We are from the South where Perkins are not found. I did not come here with high expectations. This location just happened to be convenient and open earlier than most other restaurants. While the food was fine, I could not get over how many people were working, and the entire counter area remained dirty during my visit. I was one of two customers at the counter for about a half hour, and it looked this dirty the whole time. The server working in this area was also training two older men (who may have been managers) how to work the delivery orders that were coming in. I assume the men were managers, because they were the only ones wearing a shirt and tie, they both looked pretty sloppy, and did not seem to be in any hurry. read more

honestly some of the craziest experiences here, i've been here multiple times with multiple different people i've always like the food here but i can't stand the service anymore. I've come here with friends and family in order to have a good family dining experience, thinking about coming to perkins with kids because this is a FAMILY RESTAURANT! Unfortunately the kids were crying but not an abnormal amount. Any family restaurant should be able to tolerate or understand some kids being kids. They had told us that we would be kicked out if the kids kept walking right next to our booth and kept yelling. anyone else with toddlers and little ones knows how difficult it can be to keep them under control but we had been doing our best and making sure the kids weren't disturbing other customers. unfortunately no previous warning or anything. we have been here multiple times without them saying something like that ever, completely disrespectful to just try and kick us out for that. We walked in, and two workers were too busy to stop their conversation to greet us. Finally, one of them walked us over to a table, threw the menus down and left. On the way, another worker walked right in front of us without saying 'excuse me'. The place is getting dirty and dingy. I pray to the Kitchen Gods that it was clean back there. Horrible experience today at Perkins. Arrived for a late breakfast and it was a short wait to our surprise. Was sat with my wife and two year old. Waited 15 mins before stopping the hostess who was so surprise that we were not helped. Two tables were sat around us and orders were taken immediately. We didn't even have drinks. The hostess apologized and took our drink order. Our drinks came and still not hostess, we wait about 10 more minutes total. Finally the same waitress that has passed us 15 times, stops and asks if we are "ready to order yet". To which I reply we have been ready. He says "okay, I'll be back". Went on to deliver two checks and a food order before coming back to our table. This kid clearly had an issue and no interest in serving us, for whatever reason, I have my guesses! I politely asked for the bill for my drinks and a manager to talk to. The manager did apologize and offer to comp our order, of which I refused. I used to hang out here a lot and have some fond memories of this place. While there are many Perkins locations, this one is my favorite. My friend and I used to call this place "Perkfection" because we liked it so much. The building is spacious with lots of seating and conveniently open 24 hours. It's a great place for grabbing some night breakfast whether you've been out and about or sitting at home. Although, it tastes good during the day as well. From what I remember, service has always been pretty good here. My recent visit was satisfactory. I was in during prime Sunday brunch hours, so it was quite busy, but our waitress did well and food came out in a timely manner. The food itself was typical for Perkins. Nothing fancy, yet still good. They do well at being consistent. I was happily content with my pitcher of coffee and breakfast items. However, I definitely had too much caffeine, one of the downsides of having the pitcher on the table. I appreciated the convenience of it though and having too much was completely on me. While Perkins is no longer a place that I frequent, I definitely will continue to visit this one every so often. If you're a fan of the chain, you have to try out this location. They give you a nice experience and occasionally go above and beyond expectations, like the time where they gave my friend and I a tour of the dining areas, which I seem to remember included a lighthouse room and "library". read more

There are even old menu items they will make if you request them (deli ham and lots of cheese!) The team is well run and we often see the same staff so that is nice not seeing very much turnover...one of our favorite servers/host is Tom- he is always a bright spot to our visits! Being from CA, I have never heard of Perkins. I've done a lot of traveling around the country, and I've still never heard of Perkins. Alas, my first sight of it would be from the hotel shuttle from the airport. I was surprised to learn that the hotel was just next door... about a 2 minute walk through the old Circuit City parking lot. It was my first day in Minnesota. I had had a long day with the flight in, and preferred to stay in for the night. This particular restaurant was absolutely perfect for the occasion. I'm not sure if this location is new, but it sure seems like it. The building is clean, the landscaping is fresh and the place is bright. inside is no different. The fact that I saw the word bakery on the sign told me that it was definitely a casual place. Sort of like a Marie Calendars or Bakers Square if you're from CA like me. Therefore it's casual, but by all means not ghetto. Seating was quick (I went at 10pm) and the place was busy, but not packed. There was some renaissance faire nearby that just closed for the day or something, because there were all these high school kids dressed up. Weird. My server, Christy, was awesome. Totally attentive, social, and informative. I ordered an appetizer, entree, and a dessert, and she enjoyed the bottomless pit i call my stomach. Maybe she knew the tip would be higher, but I doubt it. Left thank yous and smiley faces on my take out boxes and check. Super nice. Southwest egg roll things for starters, Kickin' Chicken' Sandwich for main course and an oreo cheesecake for dessert. Yum yum yum. What a great first Minnesota meal. So filling. The Perkins at 494 and France Ave in Bloomington MN is a truly great experience! The friendly and professional staff greeted me, seated me and took my order quickly and efficiently. I was very happy with the delicious food and bottomless pot of hot coffee. I had a couple of add-ons to my order and they were done exactly the way I wanted. The prices were very reasonable and I couldn't have been happier with the meal. Also, I felt that everything was very clean, including the bathroom, which I appreciated a lot. the decor was cute and fit the holiday theme.
