WOW so delicious and tasty then tried the Chicken thigh kabob and chicken breast kabob and one absolutely better than the other! I came here for the koobideh kebabs. The set up and the food was similar but the people here seemed more grumpy.

Don't expect to get in and out of this place. It's a maze. You are going to stand in line at three places to order, pay and pick up your food. I eat Persian food all over the country. The food here is below average. You can find much better Persian food in the area. It's better than Taco Bell if you have time to kill. read more

A great market and a sleeper with great Iranian cuisine to boot. Tried the chicken kabob and the koobideh with both the normal rice/tomato and zereksh polo. Proteins were moist and well seasoned. For well under $10 they were good deals for he quality. After you can scan the range of middle eastern products. They carry sangak from Yenagen bakery, various Sadaf pre packaged items and some bulk and produce as well. Owners are super nice to boot. 4.3 stars read more

A true treasure tucked away right off So De Anza Blvd next to Home Depot on the north side in a small strip center. The food is delicious. I had the Chicken Kabob, Basmati Rice, a half grilled tomato with a side salad for $9.99. The portion size was so large I took half home for lunch the next day. You get your choice of breast or thigh meat on the Kabob. When in the kitchen for a takeout box the owner gave me a tour and explained his heritage and philosophy on food. The kitchen by the way was spotless. I mean really; when was the last time an owner went out of their way like that for you? I saw this new market as we were going to Home Depot and looked it up on yelp. Turns out to be the same place that we used to frequent when it was on blaney. However, this location is so much better and cleaner! Everything is new and the market is bigger as well. This time they added a juice bar and kabobs which we have yet to try. Picked up a couple of ghormei sabzi herbs, an ice cream sandwich, and yellow split peas to make geymei later. Where would you go to get 4 different types of tahini paste? Or maybe you want to whip up a batch of kalleh pacheh ( https://goo.gl/RhFRX6 ) for a party this weekend and you need some sheep heads; where would you go? Cupertino Specialty Foods. They have a lot of middle east foods that are difficult to find - spices, honeycomb, candy, cookies and such thing that you will never find in Safeway. It's a fun store to browse. There are older men running the store. They are friendly and helpful. One other reviewer was complaining about someone being rude. I didn't find that - but suspect that the cashier didn't understand what she was saying. English is not their first language - and I'm guessing some are as fluent in English as I am in Farsi... which is zilch. It's a good stop to pick up some ready made food in the deli. They have a variety of kabobs. Guys who are doing renovation work are constantly going to Home Depot - so this is a good place to fuel up after they get their supplies at Home Depot. read more

The owner of this place used to have a small Mediterranean food market called M&M on Blaney and Steven's Creek. They now opened this new shiny bigger, cleaner, brighter, and generaly much better store on Bollinger Rd. across from Home Depot. I was actually on my way out of Home Depot parking lot when I saw the new sign says "Specialty Foods" and the "grand opening" sign next to it and immediately jumped in. I came out with all kind of exotic sweets, fresh veggies, pita bread, and fresh cheese in very reasonable prices. They post signs about selling fresh juice, and about a kabob counter that comes soon, but I didn't have time to inquire about it. I'll be back soon for sure to do some more shopping. I also saw these lovely exotic red glass tea cups, and interesting tea stand I need to check out. If they keep it fresh and clean as it looked today its going to be a big success. read more

To start this off, this place is now the old Rose Market in Mt View. They moved here and took over this location. Dont get the older reviews mixed up with the newer reviews. What is formerly Rose Market in Mt View (I have a feeling they will go back to this name shortly) is now Cupertino Specialty Foods. My review is only for the hot food as I do not grocery shop here. You order at the counter and then get your food in the back (where the grill is). The food is great just as it was at the location in Mountain View. I always get 1 Chicken, 1 Koobideh, 1 onion, 1 tomato over rice. Meat is juicy and flavorful. Definitely give this place a try. 1 star less as they can come across rude when taking your order. NEW OWNER ALERT!!! Went there today, outside still say "Cupertino Kabab", inside it's day 1 under new ownership by Rose Market from Mtn View. 3 different party ordered, 45 mins passed, no food. Turns out kitchen packed all orders to go and food had been sitting by cash register 2 steps away, no staff bother to link the mystery between un-pickup food and 10+ hungrily waiting customers. Finally after long wait and missed 1 entree and they gave our food to someone else without checking, we got our food. We eagerly opened our boxes for mouth watering food and met the most horrifying scene: Blackened Charred meat!! If you love this place (previous owner) like I did, you'll know exactly what I meant by "juicy, tender, flavorful, grilled to perfection". Nice market with a variety of unique Mediterranean-origin packaged goods. I mostly came here to try out the takeout Persian kebobs after my absolute favorite, Piccolo, unexpectedly shuttered their doors. I ordered the #1 Koobideh kebab with rice and a #13 extra koobideh kebab. I ordered at the juice counter, but apparently food is made in the back kitchen, because the nice man who took my order disappeared to the back and told me it would be about a 10 minute wait. In the meantime, I perused the store, especially the unique selection of chocolate bars. :) When I got my bag, it was quite heavy, so I was really hopeful that this would be my new Persian place. Upon opening the clam shell container, the visuals looked right: a giant pile of rice, with the orange rice sprinkled on the top like I am used to, as well as two strips of koobideh and two halves of a roasted tomato. The koobideh looked a little darker than I was used to, almost burnt, but it smelled okay. Sadly, the food did not come up to Piccolo standards. There was a copious amount of rice, but it had absolutely no flavor. They had included a pat of butter wrapped in foil within the container, and it had melted onto the rice. I know that usually a lot of butter is in the rice, so I dumped the rest on hoping it would make it taste good. I was wrong. The rice was extremely flavorless and bland. The butter did not help and only made it taste weird. You've been warned: don't add it. The kebabs themselves tasted okay, but were not nearly as juicy or flavorful as the ones from Piccolo. But they were much better than the ones from Rose International Market. I can't help but wonder what will happen to this market when the new Rose International Market opens up soon. The tomatoes were okay, nothing to write home about. I am sad to say that, even though these kebabs were well-priced, the price didn't justify a return visit. Wow, if you like the Rose Market, you will love this place. A little more off the beaten path, but the food (kabobs) are higher quality and totally delicious. Not as many options as Rose Market, but he makes the yogurt sauce by the order, and both koobideh and chicken were incredible. I'm a huge fan of chicken kabobs. Chelokababi and Piccolo are some of my favorites in the south bay, and I would say Cupertino Specialty Foods is easily on par, if not better. The chicken was fresh, juicy, tender, and well marinated - really everything that you could want in a chicken kabob. It also came with healthy portions of rice and salad. To boot, the market itself also well-stocked with plenty of exotic Persian goods. If you're looking for a rock-solid and very fairly priced kaboberie, this is your place. This review is only for the kebab plates we ordered. Got the #4 (marinated beef) and the combo place (chicken + ground beef) and the food tasted amazing! The plates came with the meat off the skewers, a heaping portion of rice, two grilled tomatoes, and butter. My favorite was the ground beef...so tender, flavorful and juicy! This place has TERRIBLE customer service. I bought a $50 rice cooker from there and used it twice. I noticed it had a loose screw which was hidden behind plastic and could not be tightened. In wiping it down, the screw came fully loose and the front dial came off the frame. I took it back to the store to exchange it or get my money back. I was told that I could not do either (though there was no sign about this being a "final sale"). I was told that he would have someone "try and fix it" and that he would call me. He wrote down my number and I told him I could pick it up in 2 weeks. I never received a call. After about 6 weeks, I went by the store again. The store owner brought out the rice cooker and non-nonchalantly said, "sorry we need more time, the guy who was supposed to fix it was out of town for a week". I told him this was terrible and it had been 6 weeks and he didn't even call. He said he lost the number and he would "try to fix it in 2 weeks time." I asked for another rice cooker or an exchange and he was VERY VERY rude and told me that they cannot send it back to the manufacturer and that my only choice was to leave the cooker so they can "try to fix it" or just take it and leave. I will NOT go there again. If you are looking for a great Persian market with good customer service, drive 15 mins more to another market. Trust me...it is worth the drive. read more

I am Cupertino resident for 15 years. I found this place in Cupertino area. At first I was happy because it is close to my home. this Cupertino Specialty Foods was original from Rose market at Mountain View, they moved to Cupertino city for 18 months ago. When I came in to ask for raw beef kabob meat , the meat department staff were very unfriendly, they treated and spoke to me like I was a homeless people looking for free food. They made me feel I was living in Iran, Afghanistan, or somewhere in middle East countries. Except the owner, or manager and cashiers of store were very nice. A great mediterranean market with a hidden gem inside. The former M&M market owners have moved to this new site and now offer a nice menu of various kabobs and salads. You can order your beef or chicken kabobs with or without rice, and the order is ready in minutes, cooked right in the back, tasty, and hot. They also have a wonderful juice bar with choice of fresh fruit or veggies. The chicken kabobs are excellent. I've been here 4 times now and the quality is consistently high. I bought the Baklava Loghmei since I loved the Baklava from the Greek deli I used to go to in Berkeley. This Baklava was very different. I didn't like it at all.
