Overpriced, portions were small and the food was not that good. Will not eat here again.

Unfortunately we had to walk out without eating today. Upon arrival we stood around for over 5 minutes waiting for someone to come over to seat us. Upon being seated and ordering we were made aware that the restaurant was busy and the order may take 15-20 minutes. 50 minutes later we walked out. Our order was not large nor was it difficult. There was no interaction towards us. I saw other tables get checked on, greeted and it appeared a manager was shaking hands with people he may have been familiar with. However our table was completely ignored. 45 minutes into our wait one worker did walk over and place ketchup on our table and then promptly walked away without having said a word. We waited five more minutes and then left. During that 50 minutes I witnessed at least three tables that arrived after us receive their food. Not a pleasant experience at all. I was looking forward to visiting this restaurant. read more

Moved to larger and more elaborate location in the mall right by the movie theater. Best ceviche ever. Three styles Fish , shrimp and combo. Flavor was spot on. True Latin flavors. Muscles and pork appetizers are comparable to 4 star restaurants. Wait staff are wonderful and very helpful. Let them know how much spice and heat you prefer. Can't wait to go back. read more

Stopped in today after shopping. Peru Cuisine had a fast food stall in the food court at the Crystal Run Galleria Mall in Middletown, NY. It now has a full service, sit-down restaurant with a bar, on the lower level which had its grand opening today. I've eaten at their fast food unit and the food there was good but the newer place has a much more varied menu in addition to their table service. First the service: we were seated quickly and a server promptly attended to us. The staff here is friendly and wanting to please. Our server's knowledge of the menu items indicated a good and thorough training program on the part of management. While waiting for our appetizers, we were offered a sample portion of a Pisco Sour. Pisco is a light colored brandy-like beverage produced in winemaking regions of Peru. Grape juice is fermented into a high-proof liquor, as one of Perú Cuisine's staff explained, till it's about 40% alcohol. They sold me. I ordered the drink. And now the food: My bride's salad was fresh and the Peruvian dressing, a creamy mustard, mayo and vinegar one, proved an interesting and tasty compliment. The Yuca Frita a La Huncaina, was pleasant tasting. Yuca, a tuberous root also known as cassava, is fried here, and served with Huncaina sauce ( mild yellow chile and cheese ). Next came the Tamales Criollos. On the outside they look like my mother's pasteles, only they are made from corn meal instead of plantain. The filling was a delicious blend of chicken and spices. We had this with a serving of Arroz Chaufa de Pollo, (fried rice with chicken but flavored differently than, though possibly influenced by, the Chinese version). In truth, I must confess my willingness to defect to Peruvian over Chinese flavored fried rice. Dessert? We never had a chance. The portions we were given filled us to that point, delicious as they were, to not allow room for dessert. On our next visit I'll bring home a doggy bag to allow room for dessert. All nations express their cultures, in part, through their cuisine. Desserts are a part of this. We are looking forward to exploring Peru Cuisine's other dinner offerings in addition to their desserts. Considering the fare proffered by typical shopping mall restaurants, Peru Cuisine merits a very good rating. read more

Great little place in the mall. Waiting staff was quite good. Food quality was excellent along. Also quick service. Drinks were affordable. Generally a good deck core. I was quite pleasantly surprised by this little gem in the mall. Great sauces that aren't too salty that offer a great flavor for the meal you get. Also general TV in case you don't want to miss any sport games and stuff. Overall I would recommend this place for anybody to visit particularly if you were just having a day out with friends and etc. read more

This place was great! We received awesome service (from we think, the owner) who was warm and friendly. We ordered the ceviche and causa mariscos. The ceviche was great but the causa wasn't traditional. Luckily, he was attentive and noticed I had barely touched it, then tasted it himself and did not charge us for it since it was not by the restaurant's usual standards. We then got the bistec pobre and lomo saltado and it was so good! The food was on point and authentic. We finished with some pisco sours and stuffed churros. Would love to come back again. read more

This is my new favorite meal spot at the mall. The roasted chicken is very flavorful. The combos are a good value but they don't let you substitute the fries. Fortunately the fries are very good. The chicken tamale was a decent size and filled with good chicken. The Papas a la Huancaina is uniquely Peruvian but sadly pretty bland. They have a very big menu, probably too big to maintain, but I'm looking forward to trying everything else. read more

This place is utterly fantastic! Whenever I'm at the mall, I stop by to pick up some tamales and empanadas, although everything they make is delicious. The combos out on display are excellent and reasonably priced, lots of choices be it cilantro chicken, rotisserie Peruvian chicken, some kind of beef stew which is amazing, and fried fish or baked with onions and sauce. I'm determined to try all of them! The tamales are insanely good and basically my reason to go to the mall. The pork ones are stuffed with seasoned pork, a piece of fat, nuts, olives and an egg, all of which are hidden in each bite like little treasures. The empanadas are perfect and are 4 for $10 so I always bring a few home (if I can muster up enough willpower not to devour them on the spot). Don't be afraid to order from the menu either, they cook it to order in the kitchen and the results are superb. I love the pork shoulder personally, and can't wait to try the lamb stew. What with Wendy's, Nathan's, and mall food court chinese food on either side, Peru Cuisine is a welcome surprise that offers quality, delicious food. read more

Not an expert on Peruvian food but have been to a Peruvian Restaurant in The Bronx and I must say, quite a difference. The restaurant in The Bronx tasted more authentic. Unfortunately, I must add that the food I tasted in Middletown, NY needed more flavor. This was literally the best meal I had so far in Middletown. After checking out the food court, I decided to try this place since it wasn't busy. I didn't want to eat in and they had a walk up section where you could order your food. I didn't know what I wanted , and the lady behind the counter explained everything to me. I picked out a cilantro chicken with cilantro rice and added some fried plantains. It came with two sides of sauce to try. Everything smelled so good. With my first bite, I wanted to cry it was that good. It tasted just like a home cooked meal. Absolutely delicious!!!! I ate every piece on the plate. I can't wait to go back!!!! read more

Unfortunately the service was not good, we had to wait to be served for so long that at the end my meal never came out and had to take it to go. We had two kids plus my husband and I, he got his food first and by the time our kids got their food (simple chicken tenders and fries) he was already done eating. It was a miserable experience. arrived at 7 Pm kids food didn't come out until 9 and by that point my meal had to packed to go. I was unable to eat it there. The restaurant was not packed at all so I'm was unsure why they were so behind, the staff and manager were very nice and apologetic but our experience was terrible there. I stopped at the foodcourt in the Galleria for one of my favorite meals, ceviche at Peru Cuisine. As i walked up I saw that it was closed. CLOSED! The security guard picked me up off of the floor, wiped away my tears and said "Don't worry, son, they've just moved downstairs". I bolted down the escalator and what did I see? Peru Cuisine, only bigger and, unknown to me at that point, better! An expanded menu, linen napkins in the dining area, and a bar!! I ordered the new Ceviche Mixto from the Express area and returned to my office a very happy man. Great food, polite staff, and anticuchos corazon even better than I make at home. This review is for the newly opened restaurant across from the movie theater. My husband and I decided to try the newly opened restaurant on a Monday night at 7pm. We were greeted kindly and seated promptly. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were immediately offered water. Savannah, our young server, came and greeted us right away. I asked for a drink menu but they don't have one. Savannah mention they had beer, martinis, some wine and mojitos. I asked if there was a house specialty cocktail and she answered the mango pisco sour. I went ahead and ordered that. It was tasty and you could definitely taste the alcohol (not much of the mango). We then went on to order an appetizer and our food (see pics). The price point of the food seemed fair. On average the appetizers are anywhere between $6-12 and the entrees around $15-20+ with vegetarian options. We selected an appetizer that was boiled potato with a creamy Peruvian sauce. (Papa a la huancaina) It was a cold appetizer which I wasn't expecting and honestly not sure it was supposed to be but we enjoyed it. The sauce was fresh and creamy (wish it had a bit of heat). My husband then ordered a vegetarian dish (can't remember the name)that was rice with veggies and two fried eggs on top. I had Seco a la Nortena which was a tender meat marinated in white wine served with beans and a choice of white rice or yucca. I went for the yucca, however, I received 4 yucca fritters which made me think I should've asked for the rice and gotten the yucca as a side. Our food was delicious but my husband and I were very disappointed with the temperature of the food. Can't understand why it was basically room temperature although we didn't wait long to be served. Made us think the food is cooked too far in advance. Overall, it was great service, good dining and fair price point. I would however, suggest a drink menu and hotter food. New spot in the mall and definitely a welcomed new edition. Rarely would I ever drive to a mall to go grab a meal at a food court but this place makes it an exception. Everything always looks fresh and delicious and I gotta keep going back to try everything else. Their ceviche is out of control good.
