Oh, Pescado. I came expecting a view that was going to cost me a pretty penny, but I left with so much more. The view was spectacular. We had a 4:30PM reservation so we could catch the sunset at around 4:50PM and made sure we waited for a table on the edge of the patio even though we had reservations for inside. I highly suggest you do whatever you have to do to recreate our moment pictured. We went simple with drinks, I did a Makers Mark old fashioned who'll I h was everything I'd hoped for, and my wife had the Peruvian lemonade cocktail which was sweet and she truly enjoyed. My wife and I started off with a Squash soup that was honestly top 2 in my opinion. Creamy, rich, and decadent. I highly suggest sharing this soup as it doesn't look like much but it is A LOT. Then the entrees; two buttery beef short ribs with a fantastic glaze, silky whipped potatoes, and mushrooms that apparently made me a mushroom fan. This review is actually for the Courtyard at Pescado. It's no reservations required with some comfy outdoor (covered) seating. We were seated right away on a Friday at 6:40 pm. My group of 5 ladies had a great experience! Sky (not sure of the spelling) served us and was very knowledgeable of the cocktails offered. Through the recommendations we ended up choosing the Lady in Pink and Red Skies. They were even able to offer a mocktail for our DD that she really enjoyed. I had the Red Skies and it was delicious. We also ordered a cheeseboard which had 5 different cheeses, some nuts and fruit, a few different meats, crackers, and a sauce. Sky was able to name and describe everything on the board. Came here during a bachelorette party and had a wonderful breakfast! The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous and has an amazing view from their rooftop bar. We had a couple of dietary restrictions in our group and our waiter went above and beyond to help accommodate us. The food was absolutely delicious. We shared some ceviche and I ordered the bagel and lox. Presentation was absolutely beautiful for all the dishes we ordered. Their ceviche was very fresh, nice acidity and great little spicy kick from the chilies on the plate. The bagel and lox came out looking like a small peice of art. We had high hopes for this! We were a table Of 11 and we made a reservation as SOON as they became available and we arrived on time. The server started off sweet and she hit us with only one check which was annoying but fine. It felt since she knew she was getting her 18% tip she didn't have to come back to our table. We checked before and knew what was on the menu and prices so nothing was a surprise. You'd think for the price though the service would be 100000% and it wasn't. Rain or shine, the view here is worth it! Things you should know: I. PARKING There is free street parking along N Barrett Square. If there are no spaces available when you arrive, then there's 3 hour parking on New Providence Lane. II. SERVICE Our server was attentive, great at refilling our glasses and gave recommendations based off of experience. We really enjoyed being under his care. The hostess was also noteworthy. We didn't have a reservation but she still put effort to see if there was a table available for us. Honestly, she could have just turned us away since it was a busy Friday night. Glad she didn't! III. QUALITY Yes, the food is pricey but the dishes are palatably well paired, thought out, and presented appealingly. We have been wanting to try Pescado for some time now. They require reservations if you don't want to wait. There's seating downstairs in the courtyard but the real fun atmosphere is upstairs! You have the best view of the ocean and can enjoy the sunset too. We arrived at 4PM and sat upstairs at the bar where we had the perfect view of the ocean and sunset. Our bartender Nick was very nice and I really enjoyed their four red roses cocktail (I forget the name). I also ordered a glass of cab wine from their menu, which was pretty good too. We ordered their Brussel sprouts, spicy grilled shrimp, stir fry noodles, lamp chops, and potatoes. I loved everything besides the mashed potatoes (I thought they would be actual potatoes) and the grilled spicy shrimps were nothing special. I did love the lamp chops and noodles. I've visited for dinner and most recently visited for brunch. They serve brunch classics and sandwiches. The drinks were great and I like that they have a full mocktail menu as well (which I partook of this day because it was so hot outside). The presentation of the food was good I had the fish sandwich which was average (not much flavor on the fish) and the French toast was excellent! The server was good and gave good drink recommendations - she just wasn't very attentive after we received our food. We had a lovely dinner here at Pescado! We got the mussels as our appetizer and it was DELICIOUS! It's like a creamy, warm mussel chowder and it's a hug in a bowl. Absolutely horrible service from Pescado this evening. We are locals and have dined in before but tonight was the last straw. We put our name in and we're not given a time frame or a number on the waitlist. We checked in about an hour into our wait and were given no information on how long the wait would continue to be. We finally got a text nearly two hours later and were given 10 minutes to get back to the restaurant. We arrived 11 minutes later and were told "I looked high and low for you" and "the text said 10 minutes and it has been 11 minutes". Our table was given up as we watched the hostess send a text to others to take our table. I asked if there was anything that could be done and was less-than-regretfully told no and that we could be added back to the bottom of the waitlist. Absolutely absurd. We will not be returning and we will no longer be recommending to others in the area. read more

I'm giving it two stars for the view. First, we had the cheese board. We got two hunks of blue cheese which we personally are not fans of. We asked if she could replace it and she told us one was blue cheese and the other is a goat cheese blend. She told us even though we did not touch the plate at all since the plate "hit the counter" the kitchen could not accommodate our request. We would have to buy a side of cheese separately. So that's fine we understand that, just wish we would have known this. Food is expensive but that's anywhere in rosemary beach. The small plates are very small. They weren't bad but we weren't huge fans. I think the shrimp could have been cooked more and the scallops were lacking flavor. Our server didn't seem to care about us we had to flag her down for more water, wine, etc. She never asked how we enjoyed our meal. She didn't seem interested in us at all. Do not expect a decent seat if you make a reservation at Pescado. It advertises as a rooftop bar with a view but if you make a reservation for 2 60 days in advance you will be stuffed into a tiny table along a bench with no view except the backside of men sitting at the bar, even if you request to be moved. The outside tables are wait only. A pregnant woman had to squeeze herself between our table to access the bench because distance so close. read more

Reservations are HIGHLY recommended! I saw on their website that you don't need a reservation, but apon walking up and asking if they could seat a party of 2 on a night where it was raining profusely, the answer was no. I made a reservation for the next day online, and we came back. The entrance is very, very nice. I love all the holiday redecorating that they do to make photo areas for guests. You have to take an elevator to the main floor where you dine. I must warn you, the smell of fish is strong! When I got in the elevator, it was terrible, and when I exited the elevator, the fish smell hit me dead in the face, and it was nauseating. Believe me, you will get used to it once you are in there. The restaurant itself is nice, it's well lit and has nice decor. It is not that big so I can see how it would get booked up so fast on a normal night. So, the restaurant on a rainy night was half empty, yet we were walked all the way out the rooftop patio, which was nearly pitch dark with no lighting. We were literally offered a small table that was in the dark with no light, no table lamp, no anything. I was looking at the waitress like hello we just walked past all those empty seats in the restaurant and this is what you have? She claimed all those tables were committed for other guests with an attitude, and then I said I wasn't eating in the dark, so she sat us at a high top that had a little light on the ceiling. The waitress was rude. She had an attitude and was dismissive. She acted like she was doing us a favor by even waiting on our table. She left to let me decide on a cocktail for about 15 minutes then came back w the same attitude and I said I was ready to order and she said ok, ill let you look at the cocktail menu for a bit more and walked off again. 15 minutes later, she came back and finally took the cocktail order. Now, she gave us some recommendations on the menu, and everything sounded good. The thing is this area is small and everyone is serving up variations of the same seafood dishes so I wanted something different so I went with the airline chicken which was gluten free and my husband had the fish filet. The 1 positive thing I have to say is that the Beef Tartar was a 5/5. My husband eats that, and he said it was hands down the best that he has had, and it was plated quite nicely. Now, this airline chicken was a whole other thing. The chicken had a very strange rubbery texture. It was so rubbery that it was almost impossible to cut. It wasn't rubbery like it was overcooked, which is why I don't even know how to describe it. Unfortunately, about a quarter or more of it was raw (pinkish red with visible clear ro red blood running out), and the texture was that of raw chicken. Very disappointing! The jus that the chicken was plated in was absolutely delicious. This would have been a 5/5 dish if the chicken was cooked to the correct internal temperature all over and if the meat didn't have that rubbery texture. While eating a couple did get seated at that table in the dark and let me tell you they were trying to use the lights on their phones to read the menu and they complained so the waitress brought out a tiny table light. This was just ridiculous service, and those tables inside were still empty. We kept the meal short and went back to the hotel to eat later because half of my chicken was raw and the fish dish was very very small, not enough food or protien for a man in my opinion. This restaurant has really high reviews because of this beautiful rooftop patio and its views of Rosemary Beach and the rooftops of other houses here, but at night and especially on a night where it is raining those views can't save them from lackluster service and inedible raw food.
