Pesche's has been our go to flower shop for decades, for perennial, fresh flowers and cemetery wreaths. The quality of the perennials has fallen off in recent years but we really liked their cemetery wreaths. I called and asked "are the cemetery wreaths available for purchase yet?" The woman on the other end of the line said "what?" I then repeated my question. She raised her voice and said "I don't know what you're asking. This is a florist!" I thanked her and hung up. Instant love is what happened as I entered this family owned nursery ,... enjoyed walking aisle after aisle with the beautiful flowerpots , I didn't want to leave . They have an impressive vegetable and herb garden as well . The staff was extremely helpful and friendly . Got a lot of stuff and spent close to $200 . After I got home realized I forgot a gardens hook and called the store and they confirmed the same and said will have it ready for me next time . . Pesches has lost my family and I as customers: Have been a customer here for years, but the way they handle COVID is disturbing. Every time I come in during the pandemic a handful of employees are maskless. I informed the woman who rang me up (thankfully she was masked) and she said she will pass on the fact that I complained about 3 employees I saw there on 1/05/2022 who were unmasked. I get a gift card for Pesches every year, but will ask for a Lurveys card from now on, as I do not want to patronize businesses who don't believe in COVID and enforcing safety measures to keep folks from getting sick. ALSO the tropical plants are severely overwatered and several trays of plants were filled with water. The plants usually look ok there, but this most recent visit, the plants were looking unwell prob due to overwatering. read more

The company that I work for purchases plants from Pesches every season to put in-front of our showroom doors. This fall season we purchased mums and was disappointed to find them dying after a week of having them. I contacted the manager via email and waited 4 days before getting a response, after getting nowhere via email I called the store and was told they wouldn't even be able to give us a credit because of how much time has past. $60 worth of mums shouldn't be dying in a week and if they do you should offer a credit to purchase more flowers. I purchase plants from this place every year. every season. Unfortunately, after the lack of customer service we will not be back which is a shame. read more

I ordered a Christmas tree on Nov 21 to be delivered on Dec 15. When I did not hear from them by 3 I phoned. They said my order "fell through the cracks" Since they have sold out I am out of luck. Buyer beware! They do not offer exchanges or refunds on any plants, which had I known, I would've never purchased here. I bought several varieties of flowers, and had issues with gogo orange begonia plants that developed a fungus, which caused the plants to begin to die. I called to inquire about a refund, but the manager said there's no way to know how they are cared for, so their policy is no refunds. I told him I properly cared for them, as I did with all the other plants I purchased there, and I only had a problem with those. Still, no effort was made to fix the situation. They do not care about satisfied customers at all. I'm very unhappy, and will not spend another dime there. Pesche's, you lost another customer. read more

Went in to buy a Honey Suckle bush,they only had a few,kept outside .A few nights before I went there was freezing, and all the bushes had signs of frost damage,making it very hard to pick one that looked better. Yesterday, 5/16/2021, I was at Pesche's. I was trying to leave the parking lot when suddenly a man with Pesche's logo has stepped in front on my car and almost screaming at me (!!) said that I am not allowed to move forward because in order to park my car I have to wait until the other car leaves. He was extremally angry on his face. I said to him that I'm trying to leave the parking, no to park and told him immediately move away to the side. This was really intimidating. Obviously not everyone who was driving there wanted to park since exit to the road was just in front of me. It was my first and last visit at Pesche's. read more

Worth reading - So disgusted and disappointed in the recent lack of customer service from pesches staff, management and owner. Disrespectful garden manager Casey, has an attitude like she owns the place or "very close" with the owner. Ive always raved about this place until recent, and now it's turned me away forever. I purchase the same flowers for my window boxes, yearly since 2016. This year I dropped my window box containers off as normal on March 31st (allowing 5 week prior to Mother's Day) to ensure my order would be completed. I called a couple days prior and a women informed me they would be ready May 8th, perfect! They were not ready on the 8th, they weren't ready by Mother's Day, they weren't ready until a week later. After excuses to tell me that they are really busy with Mother's Day orders, yet no concern to my order placed again March 31st to have for Mother's Day! Once they were ready I received a voicemail to pick them up, when I arrived I was told they are $85 each at checkout! Ummm that's a 30% increase from the price I've paid the past 4 years...30% is a lot so I asked why? Well per garden manager Casey and I quote "we can't control inflation" hmmm 30% inflation... I think she used a word without knowing the definition. Additionally why wasn't I informed if this increase the past 6 weeks my boxes were there?? It's a pity a place would have such individual as a manager that blames "inflation" to why their prices on filling my garden boxes inflated 30%! Casey has an attitude from the start acting like she's too good to be working...you aren't. So I went over to speak with the flower shop manager, she said she had no idea about this 30% increase Casey mention, as well as the staff in the garden...interesting. Wouldn't prices being raised by such a large amount be informed to all staff. I got upset that I felt like I was being cheated and lied to by Casey, she knew there was no logical explanation, so she offered to give me the owners email. I simply wanted to know why there was such a dramatic difference for same product before purchasing. Week goes by no answer from owner after 2 emails. I call and spoke to Casey asking what she advises since there was no response and she tells me "oh ya I spoke with Chris (the owner) and he says you can take it or leave it, so what do you want to do" Okay wow attitude still there (wasn't just a bad day clearly as it's still there)- so after you told me to email Chris Pesche, your saying he can't even have respect to email me back? Then you pass along basically that I can take my business elsewhere? That's exactly what I'm doing and alllll my friends and family with me. Look at the recent comments, this is far from the first time I see issues like these. The way I think is you get paid to do your job and be a professional; if you don't like those rules then leave but don't have an attitude with a customer just because you are behind your register and hate your job. What pesches did was wrong and unfortunately they will suffer from the lack of business skills and common decency. Casey I can assume won't be getting far in her work life acting the way she does. Leiders in Buffalo Grove has a beautiful nursery with better flourishing products and cheaper prices for same product! Not to mention the staff has be nothing but helpful so far unlike at pesches everyone is pissed off and acting like their doing more than they are. Pesche's is expansive, and it can get hold-up-traffic busy during peak season. For such a large place, I was a bit sticker shocked at prices. For instance, a couple of the same indoor plants I saw at Pesche's was ~$20 more than at Home Depot and Ikea. Not only that, during my visit I found myself wishing for more signage and intuitive merchandising with names, prices, and information about the plants. While there is a decent selection, plants seemed to just be sprawled out in sections across the floor. The staff are pretty friendly, but it was a bit frustrating waiting for help. I'd give them a zero if I could. Am I the only one sick of the 'virus' excuse? Friday I ordered four items for Saturday pickup and paid THEM $11.07 to pick the items. Saturday I drove to pick up the items, which was crowded, but understandable. The person put my items in my trunk and I drove home. When I arrived at home, I discovered I was given 10 vinca minor plants, instead of 10 pachysandra. A mistake. I didn't check the actual items, because I was trying not to go near anyone, and I assumed a garden shop knew the difference between clearly labeled ground cover. I called customer service, immediately when I saw the mistake and they said someone would call me back. Today is Tuesday and NO ONE ever called back. I did call them again Saturday because my neighbor was getting a delivery from there, and I thought they could exchange the plants. They told me they couldn't do that. So after not hearing anything for three days I called again. (Oh, btw you'd BETTER know your order number, they apparently can't look it up any other way.) So they told me I could come over and exchange the plants!? Did they miss the part where I paid for them to pick out the plants? So I wouldn't have to go into the crowded store? That was the point of paying for curbside pickup? So I said that wasn't an option and said I wanted them to come exchange the plants. I was told they couldn't do that, so I said why did I pay them to choose the plants? I was told I could have come in and shopped. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Because of my age, I have been advised NOT to go into crowded situations, but apparently Pesches feel free to give medical advice. I then said I wanted my $11.07 and $19.99 refunded because I didn't get either item. They said they couldn't refund the money, BECAUSE THEY NEEDED their merchandise back first. I said come and get it. They're coming to pick up the 10 vinca minor plants, and they refunded me the cost of the wrong plants, but not the fee for picking the wrong plants. This is customer service? I guess the increased business 'due to the virus' leaves them unable to provide customer service??? Way to go Pesches. You charged my credit card promptly, you still managed to do that. So an update, to show how LACKING in customer service: Pesches sent a delivery person to pick up the WRONG groundcover they gave me, but they COULDN'T send a delivery person to EXCHANGE the order as I requested?!?! WTF, petty, rude and completely lacking in basic customer service. read more

I went to Pesche's yesterday. They have very good garden items. But there was NO CONTROL at all for our Covid 19 guidelines. There were people in the place with no masks. There was no limit on the number of people allowed in the establishment. And check out was wall to wall with no attempt at social distancing. 6' is hard in the aisles as in the grocery store but there was not even an attempt in the check out line. Not to mention the young people working the check out lines. I won't be back this year. Home Depot had better precautions. I'll take my health over my flowers. read more

Great variety, gift cards, and this busy spot is often less crowded during the late Fall and Winter months. This might be the ideal stop during recent 2020 restrictions. Many indoor plants and flowers could easily dress up a dull day. Staff can almost always answer a question or get the right person to help. Plan ahead by researching and having some ideas. Indoor stock, like outside, could be overwhelming for a novice customer. This provider can be a bit pricey but few will mind paying a bit extra for quality and care for a special event, birthday, or a holiday. read more

Charging a 15% fee to pick your flowers for curbside delivery is bad. What's even worse is charging $28.00 delivery fee for someone in the same city!!!! I was in need of a celebratory bouquet for a neighborhood business. After not finding anything attractive in their cooler, I opted for a custom arrangement. I regret if I offended the team that the selections already made were not to my liking, but the styles were dated/oozing with baby's breath. To resolve, Pesche's created a rose bouquet for $74.99 with six roses and sorry greens. I took it, offered my thanks, but it lacked style and I was moderately embarrassed to present to my recipient. The nursery is such a great business, but this group needs some new creative inspiration and a better attitude. I will never return to this flower shop. My mom has flowers sent to my hotel room the day of my arrival. When I unwrapped the flowers I thought o how pretty, until I touched them. The roses were blown! They should have neveR been placed in a arrangement to begin with. I called to make them aware I sent a picture and I'm guessing the owner said she would send out a new arrangement. The arrangement arrived the next morning and it was a vase of 4 roses. I had to take the roses out of my arrangement and replace them with the new ones. Very unprofessional! Being that I have a background in flowers they should have sent out another full arrangement. My mom did not pay a nice penny for me to have to become a florist again for my birthDay. I understand the policy that there are no returns on live plants. However, I believe exceptions should be made in certain circumstances. I bought two clematis, the tag showed that they were a bright vibrant red, so I splurged because the cost was much higher than at other stores that sell live plants. I put them in the ground and they started blooming two weeks later. I was very disappointed when they turned out to be a dark eggplant color instead of the red that I thought I was purchasing. I called Pesche's to see if there was anything they could do, maybe exchange for a different color, I was transferred to different areas for about 15 minutes and then finally I was told that I was basically out of luck and there was nothing they would do. I have been a loyal customer for 30 years...NO MORE. read more

So much to see & friendly staff! This place is super packed on nice weather days, they even have two police directing traffic when I pass on my way home from work (around 3:30p weekdays.) Huge assortment of plants, flowers, pots, gifts, etc. You can probably find just about any gardening related thing here. You can easily get lost inside & out! I love the green house with all the tropical plants. The staff is always willing to help with questions & seems very knowledgeable. This nursery is on the largest I've been to & luckily right by our house. Definitely worth the drive, though. read more

Pesche's just lost me as a customer. Have spent thousands with them. Bought $500 worth of flowers this trip. 4 small 4" potted flowers died within 3 days. Brought my receipt to prove I'd just bought them, offered to show a photo on my phone showing them in context of all the rest doing well as evidence I was properly taking care of them, and my "ask" was not a refund, but replacement. About $20 retail; a fraction of that to them, and a drop in the bucket against my purchase. Firm "no" before I could even state my case. This is not good business, and horrible (lack of) customer service. My conclusion is they're not worthy of my business. I'll be patronizing Gethsemene going forward. read more

I have been to Pesche's before and had a great experience, but this year, I decided to do curbside pick up due to the pandemic. I received a half dead eggplant plant that was not even the kind that I ordered. I understand substitutions, but I do not understand poor quality. I called a day after since I didnt look at the plant right away and was told there were no refunds except for same day. The person on the phone said she was a manager and was not understanding. I bought a Chicago hardy fig tree 4 weeks ago and it ended up with a horrible case of fungus. I brought it in and complained because they're $35 each and they gave me such a hassle! EVEN GOING TO YHE EXTREME OF POINTING OUT THEIR NO LIVE PLANT RETURN!!! REALLY???? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! So, there 2 remaining fig trees also had a touch of fungus on them so even if they replaced it I know I had to treat it with a copper fungicide. But what ended up happening was after MUCH aggravation, the guy that was working with called one of the owners over and he finally said just replace it with this new one( I could tell he was very upset) and he restates the fact that.....I'm going to throw this one out because I can't sell! I said I'll keep it and try to fix it he says no I have to throw it out and I heard him throw it on the ground in angas he returned to the back room. I'm like really you just threw a fig tree on the ground???? and I looked at the guy that was helping me he said there's a dumpster full of plants like that in back. I said why can't your employees take them home? He said Mr. Pesche doesn't work that way. WELL,GREAT FOR HIM!!! So after all was said and done they have lost a loyal customer of 30 years! And the rest of my family and friends. I WAS OK WITH THE OVER PRICED VEGGIES AND FLOWERS BUT WITH THAT KIND OF RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE FORGET IT!!! Regarding the Spanish speaking employees It wasn't a rude comments it had nothing to do with how hard they work it's a fact if you can't ask for where are the primroses are for example and it's 90 degrees out you can't walk around the entire nursery looking for someone that can help you ( By the way I can speak Spanish but why should I have to?)
