Dr. Jeremy Shapero didn't even look at my dog, before I asked him to. They had us wait in a little room over 30 minutes and said they were getting records from our regular vet (which we didn't see that day because they didn't have early appointments for the emergency) but they didn't even ask permission or let us know. He prescribed antibiotics, which a week later haven't done anything. Terrible terrible experience! read more

It's almost been two months since my dog was diagnosed with valley fever. They gave him five different medications that cost me 600 dollars which after going and getting a second opinion at a different vet where they received his lab work and previous x rays they said they weren't even helping him or needed. He had gotten worse with all the medications they had prescribed and after the clinic took their own X-rays the vet said he was in worse condition and didn't know why he was on those medications. I almost had to put him down because he was suffering so much couldn't sleep and they failed to realize he had pneumonia. Similar to the other reviews I am seeing I had to call them over and over they were not answering and didn't return any of my voicemails in order to get any assistance or prescriptions ordered I had to go in there. The people in the front seemed very uneducated and disengaged. I can not believe they could be so careless and unprofessional knowing what pets mean to their owners. read more

The prices can't be beat, and honestly, when it was walk-in only it sucked having to wait an hour on average to be seen, but it was worth it. Great vets, but AWFUL staff. Due to Covid they are on "appointments only" which isn't even true. Sure, call and make an appointment, but you will still have to wait an hour or longer. And this time, you have to wait outside or in your car. I literally thought I would have an appointment at my scheduled time so I sat outside in 110 degree heat for 45 mins before finally deciding that this was a joke. My dog was panting and whining, and to make matters worse, everyone is crowded around the door. What happened to trying to stay 6 feet apart? Wouldn't you be better off sectioning off seating 6 feet apart inside and letting people wait there as long as you enforced it? read more

When Petdoctor on Orange Grove first opened, it was great - cheap, efficient and quick care. Each time I've gone in, care has gotten progressively worse. For example, last time I went in, we waited for three hours in a VERY crowded waiting room. SO crowded that people were waiting outside. I never got called, and they went on break at noon. One of the front desk people happened to look up and saw I was still there and asked "Do you need something?" Needless to say, I was absolutely furious. My dog also got his teeth cleaned here once, and he came out of the surgery with a clearly audible wheeze he never had before, and wheezes every night now. We took him back in to make sure he was ok, and they said he was fine. I think not. Since then, I've switched to another vet, Oracle Road Vet Clinic. They seem to take one patient at a time, are extremely compassionate, and explore all possible issues. They also take the time to try to make your pet feel comfortable. It's obviously a little more expensive, but anything is better than that crazy house. Save yourself 3 hours and just schedule an appointment at Oracle Road Vet Clinic. read more

We have been taking our dogs to Pet Doctor now for approximately 3-4 years. In that time we have seen this business grow immensely! We have always been very pleased with the care they give our pups, the cleanliness of the facility, and the prices they charge. They fill a huge gap in need here in Tucson for good, quality animal care/veterinary services for an affordable price, and because of that there is usually a significant wait for services (1+hours). I find it to be well worth it though. We have taken our dogs to this vet for SO MANY reasons. My maltese has had an incredible teeth-cleaning there, we have had our pit mix spayed there, when our beagle started having ailments in his old age we were bringing him in constantly to try to find out what was wrong, and I felt Pet Doctor was very thorough in searching for the cause of his sickness. Dr. Nelson has always handled our dogs with such tenderness and care, and his knowledge is so evident. Currently, our pit mix needs knee surgery and I'm not even nervous about it because Dr. Farrell has prepared me so well for what to expect as far as how the procedure will go and what my dog's recovery time will be. I just know she will be in excellent hands. Although proper vet care can be expensive at times (this surgery will cost us a pretty penny) I know that what they are charging me at Pet Doctor is probably a fraction of what I would be charged for the same services elsewhere. I highly recommend bringing your animals in to Pet Doctor. They are a great asset to our furry Tucson friends! TIP: * Surgery drop-off is weekdays from 7-8am, however their walk-in times are from 8am-Noon and 2-6pm. If you are coming for a walk in appointment, get there around 7:30am OR 1:30pm to be called in right when they open for appointments. Your wait time will be significantly decreased. read more

We took my 3 year old chihuahua to Arizona veterinary dental specialist for a quote on Lita's dental care. They gave us an estimate for over 3k, which was absolutely ridiculous as I had taken her to a place in California less than a year ago and the charges were about 300 dollars, and she had to have several teeth extractions. I looked up Pet Doctor for a another quote. They are amazing! They gave us an appointment the next day, and the cost of everything was $490 as opposed to the 3k that the other veterinarian clinic would have charged us. They removed five of Lita's teeth and took great care of her. I am very relieved and grateful. I highly recommend this place. read more

This place was excellent! We brought in my dachshund because we was unable to walk, which is a pretty common problem for the breed. We were seen quickly and given a recommendation from the Vet. After they come I with your "plan" a written bill of all the things that do it recommended so you can see what everything costs before you elect which procedures. They were extremely well priced compared to other vets we have been too ($30 for the visit, $37 for fluids, $180 for a valley fever test) The office is clean and beautifully painted. The staff was communicative and helpful. This is definitely our new veterinary office, we live far east and it's 100% worth the drive. I would recommend this office to anyone. read more

You might have to wait a bit, but the plus side is that when it's your turn, you won't be rushed. So happy I was referred her! First off they take walk-ins, open on Saturdays (every emergency happens on weekends). I've been to A LOT of vets in Tucson and thus by far is the best place. They don't nickel and dime you at all. Best part is it's extremely affordable quality care by kind staff. Ina road animal vet wanted $1500 for a deep dental cleaning for my chihuahua with possible extractions costing more. Pet Doctors gave me an estimate of $414 and end price was what they said it would be. They even cut my dogs nails for free while she was under. After her surgery staff told me they held and cuddled with her, she loves attention. They took care of my baby and I couldn't be more grateful! read more

I take all 3 of my dogs here and have been doing so for a few years. We do our vaccines there and I also had to get one of my dogs stitches. Everyone is kind and they also called to check up on him. The stitches came out after two weeks and he came out a very happy boy! Some people complain about the wait but the cost is very affordable. You can make an appointment with a different vet office and pay a lot more for it! I don't mind the wait and I appreciate the staff here. read more

We recently adopted a puppy from an animal rescue that uses this clinic. Our baby boy was due for another round of shots, so we decided to take him in. The clinic did not look too impressive when we pulled up, but do not judge this book by its cover!! It is so clean inside and they accommodated our walk-in appointment even though we got there at 5:25. Always super friendly, nice and so affordable! (Vaccinations are only $12, each!) We just adopted 2 brothers from Smiling Dog Rescue. (They are GREAT as a rescue by the way). We were told the boys had a history of care at this clinic. I went today for simple vaccinations. For the short time I was there, everyone I came into contact with was very understanding of the boys' nervousness, reactions, and excitement-as well as their adjustment to me. I have been taking my four dogs to Pet Dr for several years now. This is the first time I had a horrible visit. I guess in June they started charging an office examination fee of $38 which was never disclosed to me. I made my appointment online and got an email reminder. No where did it state the new fee. Normally the vet does a quick examination of my dogs before the shots. So I asked to check the ears to make sure there was no infection. The vet was an old guy who was not very friend and got upset when my dog pooped on the table as they held her. The vet assistant came back with the bill and it was a lot more than normal. That is when they notified me about the office exam fee they started charging in June. The vet assistant was nice and tried to get it waived and even asked twice. The office manager refused to reverse the fee even thou it was never disclosed to me because they took a look at my dog's ear. Mind you only one ear and not both. I was happy to hear there was no infection. Earlier this year they also started charging a disposal fee for shots. Which I was fine with but now an exam fee on top! I guess I will be going back to my regular vet as it will only cost me $8 more and I will get a complete wellness check. Plus I will save gas money and avoid the long wait. read more

We were in Tucson for 2 nights when our most loved chihuahua mix, Duke, became ill. I checked Yelp for a local vet who might see us on an urgent basis. This vet sees patients on a walk in basis and is associated with pet rescues so we went there. We arrived before clinic hours but they were open receiving clients with surgery appointments. They agreed to treat Duke so we waited. Unfortunately he took a turn for the worse while we were in the exam room. The vet techs, Alana & Marylin, were awesome as was Dr. Nelson. They were respectful, kind and efficient. They treated our Duke as if he was one of their own. They treated us as they would have wanted to be treated. read more

so disgusted with this place!! I dont even want to give them one star!! I took my dog two weeks ago because she was having trouble peeing i read the reviews and thought great they will be able to help out. 1st impression it smelled so bad but it was a pet clinic. She was seen after waiting an hour and 1/2. I explained what was going on and they took her pee sample. They said it was positive for uti no crystals detected in her pee got antibiotics and was told to follow up if she isnt getting better. She barely touched her. 1 week later noticed she started peeing blood. Took sample and went back in after 30min wait. Vet came in and said oh yea thats bloody and said they needed to do cultures because it was probably a uti that needed a different antibiotic. I said are you sure she had a lot of antibiotics and is also having hard time pooping again she hardly touch my dog. She gave me two probiotics and antibotic told me i would hear back in a few days or week if they couldnt find an antibiotic that works. Today i called because i heard nothing from the vet. The front desk lady said oh its on her desk she was going call you at noon to go over test no bacteria was found!! What then why didnt they call me sooner to let me know she said ma'am this is a clinic and we are busy. I was so upset because i just spent $179 for nothing . I went to another vet today and it didnt smell bad. Lady at the front was so nice because came in tearful thinking the worst. They took a pee sample vet tech came in examined my dog then vet came in and examined her also and said oh she has stones!! What you can feel it! She said oh yes it is pretty big. did xray and boom there it was like she said. Now she is on another antibiotic and special prescription food to desolve it!! They were so professional unlike pet dr. The vet tech didnt have to ask me for another word for poop!! Yes vet tech at pet doctor actually asked that.. umm who went to school for this?? So dont take your dog here unless you need shots they dont know what the hell they are doing. Front desk was nice but the vet and vet tech are so Incompetent! My poor pup i even asked the vet are you sure its a uti and not kidney stones or something serious and she kept reassuring me no there werent cryatals in her pee and she even wanted to do another culture!! Why the other vet said man im so sorry maybe they just got out of school but they should have known the 1st time but not catching 2nd time is horrible!! Oh and the vet finally called me at 430pm!!! After chewing her out !!! I will never recommend this place!! They could have killed my dog or took months to figure out what was wrong with her!! Shame on you pet doctor!! I could not have been any more impressed with the Pet Doctor clinic! I was apprehensive to take my dog to a "low-cost" clinic but the ONLY way you would know it is low-cost is when they present you with your extremely reasonable invoice. The clinic is clean and beautiful, and the staff is AWESOME. You can tell every single person who works there loves their job and loves the animals they care for. My dog and I were in and out in about 35 minutes, the doctor fixed her right up and we made so many new friends. I am a fanatic when it comes to the health and care of my dog and I highly recommend Pet Doctor to ANYone who desires compassionate, competent and cost-effective care for their pet. Bonus: Pet Doctor works with local rescues to provide affordable care to strays and their adopters. They also have a flatscreen TV in the lobby that advertises homeless animals that need homes. In my opinion, a vet clinic can't get much better than this one. We are so thankful to Dr. Nelson and his fantastic staff! read more

If I could give this place a less than one I would give it. Don't bother going. GO to ABC Pet Clinic. I've never been treated so rudely. They did work or test my dog last Wednesday. It is now Tuesday and they still won't tell me the results. I called this morning at 8 a.m. talk to one person and didn't know who it was didn't bother telling me that the only that I guess I can talk to me is in surgery till 2 o'clock. I'm sitting by my phone waiting 3 hours later on, and this is what vonda tells me. Seriously you couldn't have told me this at 8 in the morning that no one's going to get back to me. So I'm going to call back at 2 o'clock probably not get an answer but what do they care. Again go to ABC pet clinic that is where I usually go the receptionist is awesome they do call you back. Trust me do not go to the pet doctor or maybe they have to replace all the receptionist. Not impressed read more

I am very grateful for this place. Previously I had had such a hard time trying to get in to vet's offices of an emergency arouse. The fact that you're able to walk in is awesome. I've used them for puppy shots, spay and neutering as well as a dog with a pulled muscle and a cat with a respiratory infection. The vets are very nice and the staff is very helpful. read more

We've used pet doctor since 3-01-19 our dog Boomer & were happy.Well not since 9-30-19. He was having an allergic reaction, he was shaking his head & just wasn't himself. When he was finally seen after a bit of a wait he was close to dead from 150 degree temp.They got it down & then based on a visual checkup, a description from me of his symptoms & a brief & mysterious trip to the back room(where they may or may not have performed a test or ???? I wouldn't know what they did they didn't even discuss what was happening with me.When they brought him back to me they had medicine & showed me how to administer it & gave me the amount of $$ I owed but didn't say anything about a follow up,didn't give me any addt'l info just the invoice pic attached. So we followed the directions on the med. bottles just to run out of the ear drops & for the whole reason we took him in to come back worse than it was to start with! the drops according to the manufacturers insert should have been 8 drops a day for 7 days cause he weighed more than 30lbs. They prescribed 6 drops once a day & didn't give me enough to make it the 7 days & now they are saying I have to take him back which I'm sure I'll be charged for. I can't take time off work to take him in nor can i afford another $263.00 vet bill where i won't get enough info or medicine to get him completely better. Oh & they said the Bravecto is/was supposed to prevent the fleas & ear mites from returning. so either they didn't give me the right medicine,not enough of it to get rid of the mites completely or it's ineffective? So which is it? How am i going to be able to get my day better when i can't afford it? Please let me know? read more

My Vet fears are over, bring your pets here! Great care, awesome staff, affordable prices, shot clinics without paying doctors visits...where have you been PetDoctor? I took my 11 yr Sharpei, 10 yr Pug, and 5 yr Chihuahua for a long over due teeth cleaning. PetDoctor made their tarter stained teeth pearly white again.... I was shocked and they even trimmed their nails and cleaned their ears! The clinic is a low cost approach which is unbelievable instead of take you to the cleaners praying on owners emotions. The tech Priscilla explained to my wife she was part owners, great concept! We volunteer @ the local animal shelter so needless to say how great this place is will be known.. TY PetDoctor! The first 2 visits we had to get our pups shots were okay front staff very nice always helpful, the first visit we had Dr. Bowers he was very nice our pups got shots and didn't make a sound our second visit we had Dr.Farrell she was also very nice and again not a sound. Our last visit we had today, we had Dr.Nelson he was not very nice walking in he was rude and when he did they shots on our dogs they both cried like Someone was killing them... Very helpful, affordable, and friendly! I never felt like I was an inconvenience or that my dog was a bother, they really make you feel welcomed. I went to have my border collie/corgi mix checked for valley fever and they did the checkup, x-rays, and blood titer all the same day for about $294. Not bad! When her results came back positive they called me and I spoke with the vet on the phone, she was very friendly and knowledgeable and explained the results and treatment! I'm very satisfied with my experience so far and I will definitely recommend Pet Doctor to all of my friends and family! read more

I recently took my dog here for emergency treatment. Very bad service. They didn't treat the problem and didn't even give her an antibiotic for her tooth infection. The vet didn't return numerous phone calls. They are not about helping pets they are about making as much money as they can off your pet. I do not recommend this vet. Run! Runaway fast. Found out about this place by word of mouth & was told good things about this vet so we decided to give it a try. We have tried a few different vets around town in Tucson, and decided to stick with this place after having a good experience. Doctors are great and experienced, staff was friendly, reasonably priced (compared to other vets around town) including $20 bucks for an exam. Usually most vets will charge for every little thing they can charge for. Though we initially came in because our dog was having skin allergies. Since nothing was found with the first skin test, they offered to do the second one for free. This is a busy clinic, walk-ins only but the wait is worth it. read more

I rescued a young cat last month and took her here because of the program they offer for people on AHCCCS and Food Stamps. I was able to get her vaccinated for $15! And they were going to spay her for $5!! Well folks, when you think it's too good to be true it is! I showed up this morning to drop her for surgery and the RUDEST employee called me to go over the checklist. Guess what, $99 for blood work, $14 for a cone, $41 for pain meds, $15 for a booster shot, and don't forget $15 the rabies shot too. Oh, but don't worry right? All of that is optional (except the vaccines). As the guy is telling me all these prices and I'm saying, no thank you. He lectures me, you know her stomach will be cut open, we'll give her meds here but she'll need more for up to four days. And because she has sutures, she'll need the cone to keep her from chewing them or licking the wound. And the blood work is so important because they need to know how she'll handle the anesthesia. So, all this is supposed to be optional? No, it really isn't. When I told the guy to hold on, I was told $5 for the surgery and $15 for a vaccine and now I'm up to over $100! His reply was simply, sorry you weren't informed. So the guy comes out to get the cat and he says to me, my supervisor wants a copy of your medical and food stamp card. I said, are you kidding? I offered that to you guys a month ago when we came in for her first vaccine and I was told you didn't need them, but now because you don't like me I need them. I'm very upset and I feel railroaded. Okay, I'm done talking with you, I want a supervisor. Miraculously, now his supervisor who requested my papers, is not here today. He hands me my cat carrier and literally says to me, "I don't have to deal with your bullshit. Here's your cat. Don't ever come back." Staff told me a month ago that this appointment today would be $5 for the surgery and $15 for a vaccine. I asked specifically so I'd know what I needed to save up for. And this guy is saying I'm slinging bullshit because I'm unhappy that upon showing up with my cat my bill is now over 5 times what I was told it would be, what I showed up ready to pay. I never yelled, I never cursed. I expressed my dissatisfaction and unhappiness about the prices jumping so high since the last time I was there, and this man treated me like shit for it. read more
