Came in with my 2 dogs today for grooming after getting a call last week that the groomer needed the day off and needed to reschedule. That's understandable as things happen. Got to the store today for their 1:30 appointment and no one is working. The cashier up front said the groomer was supposed to be there. Waited until 1:50 and finally left. I've never had any issues with the grooming services here until recently. My oldest dog was referred out during his last grooming visit because they said that he was impatient and restless. He's been going to this location on and off for the past 7 years with no problem. In fact, he was just here back in July/August and the staff said that he was great. Well this past Saturday, when I picked him up, they told me that they can no longer work with him. That's interesting, because I saw him through the window while he was getting groomed and he wasn't moving around. If anything, my younger dog was squirming. Back when Petco used to give out report cards after their grooming, he always had no problems. The only changes that have occurred since his last appointment is that he's now a senior dog at 7. It seems like they don't want to work with older dogs so they refer them out. That's unfortunate, because we always sent our dogs here and everything has been fine, until now. read more

This Petco is located on 15th in Plano, TX. My small dog came out with a serious back leg limp. I was told he must have sat in the cage too long. I dropped him off at 9:30 a.m and picked him up immediately after receiving an email notice he was done at 12:49 p.m. In addition, I was charged an extra $10 for "scissors" cutting. That was not included in the $59 haircut fee. Also charged extra for "supplies. Feels like a borderline scam. Mostly I feel bad for my Frankie. Would not recommend Petco Grooming for any breed of dog. read more

Came in today around 11:00am to purchase some eye ointment for my dog and was provided excellent customer services by the two young employees at the store. They were both really sweet to my pup who is very nervous around new people (rescue)- however I believe my dog reads energies really well and he was more relaxed than usual they gave my pup some treats and gave him a few tennis balls to take home with him. This review is for puppy training. Unfortunately I couldn't give less than 1 star. I signed my almost 6 month old pup for a Fundamentals class. There was one other dog, which was 10 months old that the trainer pushed out to a different class. First class went reasonably well. The trainer taught sit, stay and one round of loose leash walking. Gave us some homework which we practiced. In the second class, my pup did all the commands that were taught. Then things started going off track. The trainer was trying to extend time by asking my son and I to do the same commands repeatedly. When I asked what's the plan for the other classes, the trainer said that's all she was going to teach and the other 5 classes (including the 2nd) was just practicing the same thing. When I questioned it, she said if your pup can focus when you call the name for 30 seconds straight, she's ready to do the next thing. Which dog in the world does this? and at 6 months old? She then proceeded to give me tips more appropriate for a 2 month old (cutting nails, getting her ready for grooming etc.) When I told her, she had already had a grooming session, the trainer didn't care. She basically sent us home in 30 mins (it's a 1 hour class) just in the 2nd session. We spent an hour just in the drive to and from. We haven't gone since to any of the classes and received nothing but automated "look forward to seeing you soon" messages. This was a shocking waste of money and an unacceptable waste of our time. Absolutely disappointed with Petco for the poor standards. I do not plan to ask for a refund and have an uncomfortable conversation. Will blame myself for signing up in the first place. read more

I give 5 stars and a big HIGH 5 because we've been to a few groomers but Petco has proven reliable and affordable. Because the care is great, the space is open but small enough to be quaint and friendly. The dogs are not upset and the groomers are knowledgeable. I don't have to over explain or correct. They know their job and that's what's important. I recommend the location at Preston and 121 in Plano! I can't say enough because dogs are precious and caring for them during a groom is so important! read more

i gave 4 stars because prices are quite high when you can find the same stuff on amazon cheaper. BUTTTT their grooming prices are great in my opinion. $34 for a bath and brush and all the little things they do on top of that... can't beat it. I read some previous reviews after taking my dog there but he never gets a haircut and that's what most of the complaints were about. my pit mix always goes in jumping on everyone so happily and always comes out smiling. they do a way better job bathing him then i ever could (and i have tried). he always smells way better going there vs when i do it. no major complaints here! read more

Please read BEFORE booking a grooming appointment. I empathize with Xiomara in the reviews below. My pup too was shaved to the bone even though when I went in for a haircut after waiting almost 3 weeks for an appointment and told them I wanted a teddy bear cut for my mini golden doodle, see pics below, I brought him home looking like the second pic and was in shock honestly. Never in 25 years of owning this type of long haired dog have I had this kind of botched service. Called back to store once I really got a good look at him and was livid and asked store manager for the manager of the grooming...not in, call tomorrow. I just called and her name is Chelsea I believe and I tried to explain to her I was very dissatisfied and she told me that due to the docs I initialed and where I signed that i was agreeable for them to do whatever they needed or wanted to to my pup no matter what and she got fairly testy with me when I asked for a refund and told me since I signed away my rights to be satisfied with the end result I could pound sand (paraphrasing) and that they would notate my account that I need not use their services any further! WOW! What happened to "customer is always right" mentality. I guess it's a new age. It's almost November and look what my pup looks like now...for the oncoming winter? I will have to dress him in a sweater at another additional cost. I told her I could easily shave him down to the nub for free, as I often do and that I shouldn't have to pay for something I can do myself. I brought him to a professional so he would look super cute for the holidays. He's very shy and embarrassed now but they don't care apparently. I sure hope anyone considering this terrible managers store reconsiders before making the same mistake I did and others below me on these reviews. I have taken him to real groomers in the past and not once, even if some mats present has he been shaved like this. They always somehow made him look like a teddy bear. They were just lazy and wanted to churn out another one as fast as possible. The girl told me it would take 4-5 hours...90 minutes or so later he was done...I even said on the phone, really? That was fast. Buyer beware. I am going to go to corporate and go over this girls head now too...she can't speak to a customer like that...no matter what. read more

I just wanted to come on here and say I had the best experience here (today at this specific location) that I've ever had at any pet store! My 3 year old and I walked in to get a new betta fish and were greeted right away by Justin. He then made our day by getting out a ferret for us to pet! He helped us with picking out a fish and snail, and was super knowledgeable about the care (since we've had problems keeping fish alive in the past...). He was incredibly friendly and we will definitely return to this Petco and request him if we need anything more in the future. We went to a *different* store for our first betta and the employees were less than friendly to my toddler and I. This was a completely different experience and I'm so grateful we stumbled in here. June 2022 visit: Came in with a new puppy. I used to work here long time ago so I knew what I need at least. The customer service here is non existent. No one said hello welcome in. Several associates saw me and didn't speak a word till check out time. I got a "did you find everything ok line" and that was it after that. I was able to find the items I knew I needed at least from previous experience. Edit from 2020/2021 visit : I used to actually work at this location from 2010-to 2016. Man this place has changed a lot, I don't even recognize it anymore. Our old groomers, when I was here, were always the best. Now that I'm on the customer side and there is a new staff it's not the same. Late estimations wait times, late to open the store. read more

This is a great location with a friendly staff, and most of the staff actually bring their dog to work every day. They are very friendly and always have well stocked, clean aisles. While they don't keep a lot of staff on hand, the staff that is there is ready and willing to help you out. I think it's a great location and it's conveniently located off 121, and isn't far from Dallas North Tollway so it's quick to get to. On a side not, I don't even understand why the other review was allowed on Yelp, it's not a review of this location it's commentary on the business practices of the company, and they don't even do the "free bag" promotion anymore, they do 5% back. I had an appointment to get my dog groomed showed up and because my dogs eyes were red and he was drooling they rejected seeing him their excuse was that he was to anxious. He is an anxious dog in general, and Petco should cater to all types of dogs and not discriminate my dog because they don't know how to handle a special dog like mine. I had all his shot records. I told them that this is normal I am the owner, I know what's best for my dog. I've done a lot of courses with him to help with the anxiety and it's just who he is. I previously took my dog to be groomed here and they ruined his coat so that he can't be shown for a while but I thought I'd give them one more try after some hair growth. They now wouldn't groom my dog because I give him allergy medication per vet instruction. The dog in front of us was completely untrained, unmanageable and acted like he wanted to kill my dog. Review is of the Purina dog food purchase. I bought a big bag of food from this door that was completely infested with maggots and worms. As a result, my car is infested and my kitchen. The moths laid eggs everywhere and now it's a constant battle to kill the adults before they lay more eggs. Horrific! If you buy food here, inspect the bag all over and open it before you leave the store. I am so disgusted and will never shop here for food ever again. My recommendation is Chewy.com. They are cheaper, deliver to your door step, and their products are always fresh and maggot free! Yuck. read more

This Petco is my go-to. Petsmart is closer to me, but the staff at petco is more helpful and knowledgeable. I have been going here for over a year, and I have zero complaints. I've purchased beautiful fish and frogs from here, I've had help getting set ups for my fish and snake, and I purchase my cat and dog supplies here. Every single employee I have worked with here has been helpful and patient. Seeing that previous reviews say they don't price match or honor coupons is disappointing, because I have had them do both. Asked me questions and would talk to the groomer for me to get them answered. My appointment is on Sunday, and I'm hoping with an attitude like that, it'll be a pleasant experience. What a wonderful selection of dog cookies... at such decent price! I have had my dog groomed at another Petco location in the past and wasn't overly impressed, but I do enjoy taking her in to shop. Staff are friendly, yes there are sometimes remnants of poop and pee on the floor, but they do attempt to clean it up. I don't like seeing animals in cages however, I think this needs to come to an end. There are enough stray animals, is this really necessary? And they don't ever seem to have enough room. Our cat has had some illness recently, and decided not to eat. We usually go to petsmart, but decided to stop at petco instead to replace her food with a fresh bag of her usual purina brand. We get it home and open it and put some in her bowl. An an hour later, she still hadn't touched it. We look in the bag, and just on the top, can see multiple maggots. DISGUSTING. I know this could have happened with the manufacturer, but Petco is responsible for the quality of products they sell. Some more random grievances -- you don't sell appropriate quality small-pet food. And why on earth don't your rats at least have clear glass tank? The glass is blacked out. So inhumane. And the cats up for adoption smelled like their litter box hadn't been changed in several days. Do something about this store. Ridiculous. read more

We stopped at this location out of convenience for some pet supplies. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service we received. Jennifer Fannell was the manager on duty and she took the time to help us find what we needed while also sharing her extensive dog knowledge which was very helpful to us with our new rescue pup. This was not your typical chain store experience and Jennifer went out of her way to assist us with further dog training info as we were leaving the store. No, they don't follow you around the store like you stole something but you can always find a helpful associate near by. They don't honor their coupons. It's a valid coupon that has not expired but the lady at the counter said that they sometimes deactivate coupons in the system for no reason. First off I just want to say I have been to this location many times before and have never had a problem. If fact I have animals that have bought from here. So it's not the place itself I had an issue with. It's most definitely the staff that worked tonight. I go in Petco frequently just to pet and hold the animals. It's fun and I enjoy it. Just likr everyone else that does it. I'm 20 years old, I understand I might look younger and that you want to see my ID to make sure I'm of age to interact with the animals . But let me just say there is a big difference when you are giving me attitude to see my ID. This lady with short red hair that works there was very unpleasant, Rude, and VERY CHILDISH. When I bring my ID in, I make sure to ask for someone different to help because I was not about to deal with how she was treating me. She just rolls her eyes and tells me to wait. When I ask for her name and to speak to a manager she begins to start mocking me. When I say mocking me, I literally mean mocking whatever came out of my mouth. Then she refused to help any of the people I was with because they were with me. Next thing she gets her own personal cellphone out to record me ? I simply just smile and wave. I ask the other staff if they could get me the manager and all said that he/she wasn't there and would be back until the morning. Now I have worked in customer service for about 3-4 years. Never have I seen someone act so childish and immature to someone just because they think they are higher up probably because of age or how young I look. But I'm not one to be disrespected like that by a employee at Petco. I will most definitely be talking to the manager of the store tomorrow and corporate will receive a nasty letter about this employee. Even if the customer is wrong you NEVER take care of the situation like that. Nothing against the store, still great place to look and buy animals from. My dog has been groomed here three times, by two different groomers, and I have been pleased each time. They are really kind to my dog (and me!), listen to what I ask for in terms of "style," and finish the grooming in a reasonable amount of time. I think the price is reasonable, and there is a good selection of add-ons if needed. The "pick 3" add-on is good value at $22 if you need teeth cleaning, nail buffing etc. and your dog goes home with a bag of treats which is a nice touch. I haven't tried any other Petco locations, but this one is a great choice for grooming. read more
